Do we need upgraded mining modules for non-Quantanium mining?
Or the same thing applies, it's far easier just to use upgraded mining lasers to cut through the rocks?
makes it easier
Ok, I am going to get ROC first and then eventually Prospector
I read that full load of Hadanite on ROC is worth about 200k, so I have to do that mining about 10 times
I would advise not to wait to fill your ROC before selling. With 30k randomly happening it would be a waste to lose an almost full load
30k should return/remain all items after logging in a few mins later
ope my bad
all good lol
Yeah... I experienced it several times
Tho I'd a 30k while Roc was inside my ship and it was there after I retrieved it. But it was before I started mining so idk if gems would have remained or not
I feel like to have ROC you'll need a ship that can fit in it to transport which you obviously have to pay more for than having a prospector
Is Aaron's halo smaller in 3.17.3?
I've decided to go out to the belt to mine. So i open up the trusty Refinery to Aaron Halo Mining Routes by CaptSheppar on Cornerstone. Pick my spot, quantum out +/-12,680,000, no asteroids. This supposed to be the densest part of band 1. Turn around. Jump 50k back to ARC L1. Nothing. Another 50k. nada. 100k. nope. 1 million. nope. Asteroids didn't show up until I was well within band 4. after about an hour I finally found a cluster worth mining. Dropped my load at refinery then headed on back. This time i wanted to try band 10. not there. band 9? nope. Finally around Band 7 asteroids appeared. so is it me or did cig reduce the si8ze of the halo/
Cutlass carry it nicely enough and is not that expansive
Also roc mining offer instant income when prospector makes you wait for refine time and travel to sell before getting the money
isn't ROC+Cutty = Prospector?
still gonna need to transport processed quant but rent will handle delivery cheaply
No roc is like 170k and cutlass barely over a mil
You can rent both cutlass and roc too btw
renting roc for mining is probably meh
renting is broken anything over a day
idk which one could possibly make more money but feel like prospector would be easier
not that I done any roc mining
also with 30k not protecting it uhh
yea
If you rent cutty and roc and make a full load of hadanite you get around 160k benefit on your first run. 200k for the next ones
It's easy starting money
But yeah 30k is a threat
does turning off mole laser also turns off ship atm?
No, it's the same size, you were just using it wrong. Where were you setting destination to, Hurston?
The 12.68M is the distance remaining to the target
Also, band 1 is the narrowest and least dense, so it's super easy to miss. Most people aim for Band 5, which is very dense and large
Where should I sell refined Quant, And does where I sell matter?
The Trade and Development console at any major city, and it doesn't matter, they all pay the same price
What exactly I can use a brandt module use for? what situation
I'm assuming rocks that are smaller than 5.5k
Brandt reduces the instability temporarily, so if you're having trouble with instability (power moves around too much) that can help. It's most useful to allow you to mine quant with something other than a Lancet if for some reason you want to do that.
Probably useful for smaller broken up rocks
is lancet still the best for mole?
Yes, Lancet MH2 though, which gives longer range
If you're mining quant, Lancet is by far the best due to the instability reduction.
If you're not mining quant, use whatever you want, it doesn't matter
fair
Alt + J not working for jettison?
I believe it only works if you've got quant that's about to explode
I had quant but not about to explode
quant has to at least be in yellow before yhou can jettison
Are prospector lasers broken rn or smth mine are not working
what about corsair and roc?
corsair isn't out yet so idk
🤔 i don't see what the cargo capacity have to do with renting a roc and cutlass
well GL moving your hadanite gems one by one until you get 72scu xD
Cutlass is there to carry the roc actually. You can put what you gather in it but you lose a lot of time doing it
lmao
how many gems would fir in 72scu (rough estimate) and how many does roc carry?
what is the best laser for the MISC Prospector?
Depends, what are you looking to mine?
rocks
Roc can gather 0.8scu for a full load... make the math
Which type of mineral though?
Quant?
Diamond?
Copper?
Borase?
There are many
the first
Quantanium?
yes
You want the Lancet then
Lancet I for the Prospector, Lancet II for the MOLE
And for modules I like to reccomend 2x Reiger C3 and 1x Vaux C3
i got the misc prospector
whats the best of the best mining utilites i need to buy for my prospector if anyone who more experienced than me in mining can you send me a spread sheet on what mods i need to buy for mining quantinum?
You can get all of them at HUR-L2 as well
Read what i jsut posted bud 😄
@glacial dagger is it in pins? cause i just joinned this server 2 minutes ago
Nope, You just need to scroll up about 5-6 messages
@civic parrot Does that help you?
i dont have the game yet mf
Now now, no need to get angsty
sowwy
This is a helper channel, not a fighting channel
@glacial dagger kinda so these are the best of the best for my prospector cause a friend of mine lended me some money for
and i got a lot to spare into investing into my prospector. And i was told if i want to make millions go for quantinum only
When it comes to mining, your friend is right, Quant is really the only minable actually worth it rn
So, lancet I with 2x Reiger C3 and 1x Vaux C3 modules
Easy dude. Go trolling elsewhere then
That is my reccomended mining loadout for a prospector
what
Lancet, surge, reiger c3, vaux c3 is what I use. Surge is there to pop rocks quicker.
As a beginner, go with irons recommended of 2 reigers. Will give you a massive green zone so you don't blow yourself up
And as a fyi, modules do NOT claim on insurance. So if you blow up/claim the prospector/ anything happens, you lose the modules.
Which makes c3s very expensive for newer players at 60k a pop
What is the best cheap loadout for the prospecter
i cant find the lancet on Hur L2
Not the Lancet, the modules
Most of the refinery decks, but I know CRU-L1 defo has them
Use the website to search for any item (and where to buy them) in-game.
^Look it up in here
but the lacet mh1 is for the graycat
i need one for the prospector
@glacial dagger
Nope
but it says it is
It's for ships, it's just made by Greycat
https://finder.cstone.space/ShipMiningHeads1/ba94a262-bc0a-4484-9bbd-a4be7a2ec3e7
So long as yoru ship and the mining head are stored int he same location, it's in the vehicle manager tab in yoru mobi glass. Looks like a ship pointing upwards
Also, please dont just try and call me to try and get help faster. A) you could have asked to call first, and B) I'm at work rn so I wouldn't have been able to take the call anyway
Make sure your buying to station inventory not your personal inventory
how?
In the top left of the buying terminal it should say Purchase location
Or something similar at least
Just how long will it take to fill up ROC at a moon like Aberdeen, for Hadanite?
I know it varies, just asking for a ballpark
@glacial dagger can you tell me why i cant see my ships when i press on "Select Ship"
With some good luck and a good amount of dedication, anywhere between 40 mins to 75 mins
Is your ship stored in your current location?
@hollow sedge ???
45 minutes to an hour and a half, all depends on luck and speed of course
what is the cheapest ship that can fit a roc?
Technically the freelancer, cutty black or potentially the Nomad
Pretty much, although the MAX is better fuited for it
The nomad is the cheapest to buy, the cutty black is the cheapest to rent
All the freelancers can fit 2 length ways, the MAX jsut gives you more sideways wiggle room
length wise as in the rocs are aliened with the ship?
you drive/ reverse the ROCs in one after the other and their head to tail
In a single file line
wow the freelancer's cargo bay is that long?!
yup
It's a deceptively long cargo bay
i was only ever able to fit one in there
You aqueeze a little
You can fit two, I’ve done it before. You have to exit out the side doors, but it works
but yh, it is a little easier and more manuverable in a Cutty
In the curtty you can even fit 3 if your so inclined
Indeed
And if yoru willing to fly with the ramp down, you can even fit a 4th
that just sounds cursed
It really is
Wait untill you hear about wacky backy mining though 😄
do i wanna know?
5-6 people with hand mining tools can break ROC rocks
Sounds like reverse Prospector mining.
the prospector is 2 ish mil right?
ferry them all around in the back of an MPUV
2.1mil
ouch
Easy money and great for laughs
That does sound like fun
more than enough space for 4-5 people int he back of an MPUV
do you guys got moles?
I remember when we could make boxes with the ROC so we would take it in terns to fill up the ROC box and stack it into the MPUV. We filing an MPUV ompletly and with hadanite boxes and sold it for something close to like...2mill or something?
Yup
Nahh bro, you go for the cargo
More space
Ah ok
And can actually have stuff sold from it's grid
I am an ROC and hand miner, so no
Slap a 1 SCU container in there and people can still fin in around it
if u ever need a mole turret gunner lmk
That’s pretty funny
Nice big spot for everyone to store all their mined goods into and is then protected from 30ks
Whh, moles are kinda broken rn
you cant do that anymore?
how so?
Nope
thats dumb
Not the minables boxe3s anyway
Hence why we used a 1 SCU container instead now
Plus, everyone can access that, one at a time of course, to deposit their inventory of minerals 😄
I'm tempted to try and run something like it again actually...
where do i have to transport the refined materials?
I would be willing to do that with you
any major city on a planet
^
then?
sell it?
Which city are you selling to?
Well which planet are you closest to?
for example on hurston just keep on the train after you get the space port
likewise
Hurston is a little different
For Hurston, Once you have landed at the space port and stored yoru ship, continue past the ASOP terminals and start heading back towards the haps. Once you see some green signs, follow the new route and you will get to the inner city train line that will take you to the CBT, Central Banking District
Once there, head inside and go to the first large room to the left. This is Hurston's trading centre.
Hurston is so fun though...
Much more industrial
Ehh, i still prefer the Hurston area. And besides with the upcoming Hurston update we might finally be able to land on the CBT building (with the right clearance) cutting trading times in half 😄
True
so where do i have to go now?
Where did you go, MT or Hurston?
@hollow sedge???
i didn't go anywhere
im waiting at the refinerie
Ah sorry, you jsut made it sound liek you were already there at MT
so?
so where do i have to go now?
Load your refined goods into whatever ship you’re using to haul, and then fly that ship to microtech
Where do you want to go?
He's still waiting for the refinery jobs to complete
Pretty sure they’re already done refining
Based off this message
Did I hit a jackpot? This is the most I ever saw
I am at Aberdeen, but I am seeing green stuff
I mean, it's only Dolivine, so it's not great..
Ehh, still worth grabbing if you dont mind
They still sell, but their no Hadanite
Alslo, your in a prospector, yes?
Because those are hand/ROC/ROC-DS minables, you cant really mine and collect those
Try and buy (in game of course), rented stuff can get a little buggy sometimes
Yeah, I want to try and planning to buy soon
Don’t bother mining dolovine, sells for less than half of hadanite, or something similar to that
What's the largerst cargo ship you have?
How are they buggy?
Titan is the biggest and only ship I have, so I have to rent to haul the ROC
Cant be modified, can run out of juice sometimes
Perfect. Look up SC Trade Tools and maybe looking into dug running
The can’t be modified part isn’t a bug, and I’ve never had a rental just due on me before
I'm not saying it;s a bug, just part of what can make it a little buggy
i hate rentals
ROC do not need to be modified right? for gem mining? I just have to suit up?
Nope
Yup, just suit up
And you only need to get a proper suit of armor if you’re mining on Ariel/Aberdeen
Daymar you can chill in an undersuit and helmet just fine
I wonder if ROCs are still running out of juice though...
neither has mine, because I'm not driving my ROC halfways across the dunes of Daymar and rocky pits of Abberdeen
how much do i get for 1300 Quantainium?
??
Is that raw ore? raw ore goes for 44$ per
refined mineral goes for 88
Refined quant goes for 88 aUEC/unit
1400 SCU or 14SCU?
more than likely 14SCU/1400units
Mm
Sorry, 13SCU/1300 units
Oh I thought that said 1400
@hollow sedge We're happy to help, but there are some things that you can look up yourself. You do have access to the internet and we have shown you the tools needed to find these things out
I know what you mean, I had to do a double check for a second there 😄
now, please dont let this stop you from asking about stuff in here, but when it comes to prices and such, it's pretty easy to find out. I also recommend you favourite/bookmark these links as their really friggin useful 😄
I saw in a video that if you want to transfer cargo from ROC to ship, you would have to do it manually one by one. Is this still the case?
indeed
That's why i use a macro
If I hit many rocks for Dolivine, I might consider just continue with mining rather than go back and sell for 100k worth
oh, I see
ok, gotcha, so I would have to keep doing this for 800 times? 😐
Yes...or set up a macro
Still less time than having to go back to an outpost and come back
Trust me, once you have set it up, it's so useful 😄
I think if I leave the area, the rocks are all gone
ok, thanks, I will look into that
Take the metro train and go to commons, there you should see a trade center
I forgot it's full name
you will find a trading console
I found the name: Trade and Development Division
um
Fun, CIG saying the new 3.17.4 will go to Open PTU, probably in the next few days. Hope to fly my Corsair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will all ships go on sale, or just corsairs?
all ships @mighty prawn
So, you already ordered Corsair?
I'm just said I didn't get a chance to get a Corsair CCU at the current price
Yes, bought on concept. So I've got the loaner Connie
just google like star citizen trade finder or sum like that
this calculates everything for you
im at the terminal yet theres no location or anything
Look up Jack Axton on YT. He has an older video that is still very valid called a Trading refresher course (3.15)
Will new ship like Corsair be immediately available for rental as well?
He is the master of trade and this video lays out all the valid cargo routes and potential earnings
Not sure how IAE will handle the rental kiosk. It is normally by day of manufacturer then "all of them" towards the end
ILW always released by that schedule and also last years IAE did also
"where" is IAE held? do we actually going to a new station or something?
gotcha
NB will be more stable than Orison and possibly Area18
The 3.17.4 will drop to PTU and be open for all users, so you will get a chance to dive in early if you want before it drops to LIVE
Does everyone have access to PTU?
DANGER WILL ROBBINSON
I anticipate that refinery jobs will be wiped when patch drops live
Depends. Some PTU is NDA and only Evocatti has access. Then they release the PTU to "Waves" with Wave 1 being concierge and subscribers
if they say "open" then the PTU is for all players
Right now, as an example, 3.18 has been tested twice, each time with the Evocati team
They are under a non-disclosure agreement, so can not share specifics, features, screen shots, etc etc about the testing
The key word for the Evo experience is soulcrushing
huh? how so? lot of work to be in Evo?
Let's just say that those guys aren't Evo to play, the state of the game they are testing is brutal. Crashes and nothing but crashes
apparently cargo refractor info was posted by cig
What do you mean cargo refactor, is there a cargo stuff re-work across all ships?
yes
the issue with cargo is that its very risky and pays low
what they're changing
idk
oh, they are going to make it better
thats why I'm asking what they're gonna change i haven't seen the update
you will be able to interact with the cargo and move them around in your ship, or move them to a friends ship to sell, etc.
in the future you will need npc or friends to help load your ship manually, but that is probably 6+mths away as they work on freight elevators. ISC tomorrow will have more info on the changes in 3.18
Would be nice to be able to put up cargo contracts for other players like EVE, so a miner could just put up a transport mission for their ore to a planet that way
yea i'm excited for when the Expanse comes in and you can move those prospector saddlebags into the expanse refinery, or someone could run it to a station refinery perhaps
groundwork being laid for great gameplay in the future
is that it? why were people excited for this
I can see why moving cargo to another ship is good for piracy and the Hull ship variants
but that is what we were waiting for all this time???
Tony Zurovec leads a discussion with Rob Reininger, Ben Dorsey, and Luke Pressley about upcoming features like selling, local inventory, the convergence of the reputation and mission systems, why physicalized cargo is so important, the next couple of Dynamic Events, and more.
Roberts Space Industr...
watch that from last years citizencon, goes really in depth for CIG vision of physicalized cargo
atleast piracy will be more prominent, can't wait to obliterate unlawful pirates tampering with my orgs cargo
the Andromeda (rent) QT cooldown is so slow...
I hope I don't get ambushed
how do I tell if my ship contains cargo? outside terminals?
Look in the cargo hold, everything except refined quantanium shows up in boxes
the hold is not full? Is that normal?
If it’s refined quant, then yes
it's empty rn
Again, if it's refined quant, it doesn't show up in boxes, and the hold will look empty. That's normal.
October/Nov. 2022 9 Tails Medical Supplies cargo runs summary:
I am posting this event summary to help newer players get a clearer idea of what can transpire and how much money you can make.
There are 16 sessions to take part in and each Med run lasts 90 minutes on average. I am generally trying for two complete sales runs but that is hard to achieve on a consistent basis.
Front Loading: In the two days before the event I worked with the 2 accounts I have to purchase cargo in 3 different ships. These were an A2, a Hull A and a Freelancer Max. I completed this without any troubles. My primary cargo ship is the C2 and this was to big to load up in advance. This process gives you a head start out the gate.
Guessing Game: Another way to get a head start on selling any load is to park your ships at what L1 station you think the “Blockade” will be. It looks like they used L1, L4 and L5 the most and I was able to guess “right” on three occasions.
Out of 16 sessions I had 9 successful sales with 2 C2's lost to being shot down close in to the station. I only remember one 30K crash that negatively affected a 2nd purchase. (I did impounds almost every time)
Sales by ship: 5 C2's, 2 A 2's, one each Hull A and Freelancer Max.
GROSS 2 ACCOUNTS PROFIT: 3,756,111.00 Aeuc's...
For future reference, you don't have to guess, it always rotates counterclockwise - CRU L1, then L4, then L5, then repeat
That's cool I never figured that out!!
haul #1 of mining the first rock I find
this is in a rental, and since it takes so much time to find anything worth mining in a rental anyway, I figured Id just mine anything and try to do it as fast as possible
granted mining aluminum is really bad, but yeah
Are prospector lasers broken rn or smth mine are not working
I have asked many times and have not gotten an answer
found a really nice laranite rock, but didnt have the space to get nearly as much of it as I would've liked :(
Define "not working"
What laser are you using, what are you trying to mine (mass and composition)
If the rock is 6000+ in mass, you won't be breaking it solo without consumable modules like surge/stampede.
very bad, since its refined value is 1.3 UEC
Yeah ik
That's why I won't try asteroid mining again until 3.18 and PES, in hopes that ghost rocks get mostly fixed.
I figured out the problem
Then you should tell us what exactly was happening and what you did to resolve it, in case someone else has the problem.
So, where can I find out what all the weird little buttons on the C2 ramp controls do?
Well it was a bug that was occurring jf my ship got destroyed. Everytime my ship got destroyed it got rid of my mining laser.
Some of those might be for future uses on like a "Gold Pass" and I have found the "Help" channel on this discord has some great people that may assist you.
Obviously one of them opens the ramp completly, but I'm really hoping we will get the option to open the rear without putting the ramp down, jsut haveit as an opening in the back of the aircraft
Probably also a locking option on them as well so it cant be opened form the inside
This notice from the latest RSI Update: "The ability to move all items from one inventory to another is now in the final internal test sweep."
This...this will be very nice to do 😄
anyone has Caterpillar I could have a tour in?
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!!
does anyone know how much the "HULE" costs

(Thursday) Current 3.17.4 IAE testing is being put on hold until early next week. Will give further updates as we have them!
not a great sign of things going smoothly, LOL
Inb4 "New plan, 3.17.4 will be just IAE related content, corsair pushed to 3.18"
grrr!! don't talk like that
LOL, that would be crazy, I'm sure it would nearly cause a riot
If they give a really good explanation, like if they couldn't turn off the cargo refactor grid on the Corsair, then it'd be fine. Devs have to be a little more transparent than "Oh it doesn't work."
Given that the 3.18 codebase diverged from the 3.17 codebase like eight months ago, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're running into issues "backporting" corsair (and whatever other ships) to 3.17.4
(source: am dev at a large software company)
Reminds me of how difficult it is for modders to backport features to old versions of Minecraft.
Not just the ship but multiple other assets are in this category. Not seeing it going pretty
I can see 3.18 being as fucked up as 3.5.0 some years ago
Game was kinda playable again at 3.8 iirc
This depends on how well their architecture is set up. Also a dev 🙂
Just getting into Prospector mining. Got the Lancet and other ship components. What are people liking to use for mining modules?
o7
If you're mining in the asteroid belt: Doesn't matter, use whatever you want, nothing is needed
If you're mining on a planet or moon: You'll want surge (possibly 2x surge) and stampede to break large rocks
Remember also that when your ship is destroyed or claimed, modules are lost
Ok, I've been hitting the smaller Quant rocks (<5k mass) on moons with no modules, but figured I'd need them for the bigger ones.
Are passive modules any good?
They're okay but the effects are pretty weak for the cost
Active ones are very cheap and are basically required in order to break larger rocks
Y'all DEFINITELY should watch the new ISC
Quite the ISC
But once again it's mostly: we re-did what's already there. In the future we'll add more to it.
From that new terminal, it doesn't look like the backend changed at all 🤔
The physicalized stuff is cool that it's actually interactable, but not really understanding the loading of crates and whatnot still. I'm assuming for now it's still gonna get teleported?
cause I really can't imagine people manually loading cargo to their ships in the open at a mining station or similar.
40 SCU Cutlass Black
inb4 that's exactly what it is, and they don't actually increase the profits much
It feels like, from a trader's point of view, we get new terminal. That's it.
Unless you get blown up/boarded, you won't feel anything different.
on the bright side, waiting for a full load of laranite is easy since you'll have to spend time loading it anyway!
Please stop beating him CIG, he's already dead 😭
By the time you get one SCU box loaded and good to go, there might be another available! 😂
Also have fun trying to use a Hull-C for freight, can't finish loading the thing before someone comes along and blows you up (since you presumably can't be landed in a hangar while loading
Yeah, I wonder how they're going to handle tractor beams in armistice.
Make them only work on something that you "own" or owned by your party -- your own cargo? fine.
someone else's cargo? nope
Yeah, that'd make sense to me.
you mean in armistice
Right
The Q&A they are going to have will hopefully give us some light on the issue of cargo and how it will be handled on the huge ships like the HULL C, D and E
unless they add new station-only routes, Hull C is going to have a great time making pennies trading scrap
The trade system will totally different than today's. I'm thinking there will be contract work, reputation and also work available via reputation leveling that will offer large rewards
Would be nice
what is the refractor beam in cat?
still tryna decide if cat or c2
There is currently no tractor beam functionality, but eventually ships like the car will be able to pull in cargo using the tractor beam
if you fully man the turrets which ship is more lethal? CAT or C2?
think they around the same, same amount of turrets
actually maybe cat
you can only access one remote turret on c2
at a time*
Just remember your choice for when relays/engineering becomes a thing
Because I guarantee you that the Caterpillar will be harder to keep working if they add Dynamic Events that cause damage/etc. to relays on a whim.
C2 also has the maneuverability to actually use the pilot guns too
I'm guessing the C2 lacks a tractor beam because of how easy to access its cargo bay is, and you can just use multi-tools for cargo boxes.
i hear cat will be better after update they said
Gold pass will definitely change the Caterpillar, yeah.
Also different design choices. The C2 is made for hauling goods, the cat is made for scraping goods from space.
C2 is like refined goods and trade commodities. Cat is like, eat everything in front of me and shove it in to boxes.
Plus 3.18 will allow you to finally use the tractor beam attachment in Armistice zones. Which is the best thing ever.
Like the Canterbury from Expanse
is armstice zones like goods outposts?
Anything with the bullet icon that has the strikethrough circle. Such as space stations, cities, mining outposts and research outposts.
Mining/Research outposts will probably spawn cargo you buy in those large shipping containers when they add that system, since there's no Cargo Dispensers in those locations unlike space stations. As such, it'll take longer to load at outposts than it will at space stations. This would probably help deal with low stock on high value goods.
We said we hoped it would be better
I imagine they'll be grouped larger than just 1 SCU if bought in bulk and then snappable into place.
I think that's what those black boxes are meant to be at the outposts, since they look like huge SCU Boxes
I asked other people in game too, more or less they prefer cat because cat is life they said
Caterpillar is better because it feels balanced to be a big cargo ship, not massively OP like the C2
Yeah, perhaps certain multiples of 1 SCU boxes depending on how much you buy. Or perhaps selectable. Like, "Oh There are 40 SCU of Laranite available, I'll need 5 8 SCU boxes."
But honestly right now, if you're buying in game, the only reason to get a Caterpillar instead of a C2 is because you like how it looks. The C2 is objectively better in every way other than that
C2 is a great ship
3.18 will get a wipe anyway, so in-game bought ships will get thanos'd
Which thankfully will get rid of my extra prospector
Yep, that's why it doesn't matter what changes for cargo refactor are in that choice
But it sounds like in T0 there won't be any advantage to caterpillar and C2 will maintain its dominance
But since Vulture is coming with 3.18, that won't matter, since my vulture prospector will be thanos'd
C2 it is then
sad about the wipe
already sad about the UEC i lost lol
You'll get 20,000 after the wipe anyway, to start you off
But I have a feeling RMC is going to be OP at the start for selling until they figure out a good price to effort ratio. They will definitely make RMC sell for more than Waste and Scrap. I'm thinking more similar to Medical Supplies.
don't have the actual money to buy ships
starting ships are rough, or I'm just not good at earning lol
every time I try to earn I lost more than what I earn lol
took me a while to get going
I do box deliveries, which rockets my UEC up pretty quickly when I can chain them together. What you usually want to do is take all six of them after the initial single box delivery, and pray you don't get 30k, and map out how you will take what boxes and to where in what order. Usually at least 6 of the boxes go to the same place or same planet/moon. If you aren't high reputation already, 30k may get you into negative, which forces you to wait out the timer on the reputation gauge.
I can't fit any more than 3 boxes in my aurora lol
obvious solution is to abandon aurora, embrace UPS truck pisces
that's 1 mission that pays 8k, also they glitch out on me
still need to buy pisces
delivery missions can definitely be rough sometimes when they're buggy
I haven't had problems with bugginess. But just as a tip: If you KNOW where your box goes, you can STILL deliver it even if there's no mission marker. The server still sees the mission points as valid
Titan or Nomad would be some cheap-ish options that give a lot more storage space.
Nomad is really nice if you can get over the nose pointing down in atmosphere.
I'm more referring to the bugs where the shelf or delivery box won't accept the package even when it's the right location
titan rent costed me 300k by accident
I've actually never had this happen since I started playing in august. Only the pip getting removed.
Chose more than one day, didn't you.
well I was new alright lol
i chose 3, became 30
I'm considering spending more for titan starter
Lucky you, I wonder if some places are buggier than others. I saw it last time I attempted box missions around Microtech a few months back and haven't bothered since
well I'm still new
Titan is a really good all-rounder. Can handle NPC ships reasonably well if you meet them while doing boxes.
The only thing I'd recommend if you get the titan, is change its shield to Palisaide, and take either laser cannons or laser repeaters. In addition, be patient when putting box delivery boxes down, they can sometimes rubberband.
was wondering if I should've gone for mustang as starter earlier actually
Mustang works for box deliveries now. Since uh, 3.15 or something? I can't remember. Because the boxes now open up, allowing you to put stuff in them
oh yeah rubberband fun
sometimes I can't even pick em up lol
A lot of ships with internal space will work for box deliveries, even the vanguard. Which is one of the reasons I'm gettign a sentinel, though I'm getting it with UEC, not pledge.
so many ship names I don't even know lol

Is quantum mining good gig?
yup
Quantanium mining is the best source of non-combat pve income in the game
Begging makes more money but that's pvp
Thanks Chris thought about buying prospect
I think pity makes more money
I just get given money without asking
even worth a c2
I'm just trying a way to make in game money and understand mining and stems
There are lots of good tutorials on YouTube
feels bad to be given $
It's happening, strap in people, #956653690478006303 will be getting more on the refactor soon: #956653690478006303 message
TS-2 would be the best QD for C2 right?
It is the fastest, yes
Personally thats really the only quality I look for in QT drives rn
But once Pyro, Nyx and the other systems start to come out, I might have to reconsider
cooldown is pretty handy too
don't want to wait half a minute for it to cool down
feel like a sitting target duck
I believe should work fine for those
Idk too much about getting to those systems though
I feel like they could take hours or just a cutscene
That's more to do with your coolers than the drive itself
Better coolers can help cool it much faster
Ohh I see
Also, one of CIGs promises was '0 cutscreens, not a single one, nada, nope, ziltch'
well kinda a cutscene I guess
still able to interact with the ship
since I feel like any waiting is more of loading screen in a sense
Cutscenes
And have you seen the current concept footage for flight during the jump points between systems? You have to actually steer the ship inside a constantly shifting tube
well nop
I suppose different from a QD then
idk too much
Yh, technically that would be classified as a jump drive I think? Might still use a QT drive just with a modifier
whats the button that opens all of the doors or hatches?
While in the pilots seat, hold F and right click. That’ll pull up a wheel of options, and one should say “open/close all doors”
Really glad there's a wispy path to follow to help guide you.
I'm pretty sure you just fly into it, since they only had to activate the Jump Point's frame, then fly into it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkhBfB6z2v8
But that may have changed since.

Where does one go in order to spawn land vehicles?
Head to any mining outpost
There’s a blue building with some small pads next to it. Go in there and there’s a terminal to spawn your vehicle
Any on Lyria?
Yeah
I don’t know the name of one specifically, but look for “arccorp mining area”
Don’t go to a processing facility, those ones aren’t friendly
POI's with HDMS also have full facilities
whats HDMS
a category of Outpost. Hurston Dynamics Mining Station. eg HDMS-Bezdek
All mining outposts are the same, they just have slightly different layouts and are named different things depending on where they are
There's also a place to spawn ground vehicles in New Babbage (in the commons) and Lorville (city gates)
Cant wait to see what the final version for Pyro access opn this is going to be like
So I'm at Shubin Mining Facility SAL-2 and I can't find the vehicle spawn?
is it inside or out?
There is an ASOP Terminal inside the blue building with the antenna array on it. It allows spawning of ground vehicles and Extra Small Ships like the 100i
That might not have one... Some of the "mining facilities" don't have pads
Finally got my first FULL prospector hull back. Felt amazing
Yea lol. Has been a learning curve 😂
what mining modules should i go for, cause the dps site doesn't say anything about modules
What are you looking o mine?
yes
???
i want to look on a site and understand what each modlule does. I screenshotted your build but still dont understand how to use them or what they even do, i wish theyre was a website for it
I ask because going for quant and going for other stuff requires different modules
Going for Quant you wanna prioritise stability and optimal zone. For everything else, you jsut wanna look at increasing optimal zone and power input
Which build are you reffering to bud?
*Reiger, and ah, ok then
Well, Item finder is pretty good for it
is theyre like a spreadsheet for what each of them do and explains it like the dps or i just have to do more research @glacial dagger
If you follow the link and then scroll down to and select 'Ship Modifiers' under the mining section, that will tell you abount all the different modules and their respective stats

okay thank you guys so much
nw bud, we're happy to help 😄
everyone pretty much just uses the Lancet + Surge/Stampede for everything lol
which is why Sheets don't really get brought up
Nahh bro, it's all about the Reiger C3 and Vaux C3. Means you dont really have to replace them unless you claim your ship. It also makes the greenzone nice and managable
how do you break 7T+ rocks?
In a prospector? You dont, nice and easy
Also, I dont do planet mining, I much prefere the Aaron Halo
that's why I mentioned Lancet + Surge + Stampede for everything
you never get more than 5.5k mass rocks up there, so 😄
But that rasies the instability sooo mcuh though...
yeah Halo works very nicely with passive modules. my preferred way as well
question what instability means? is that the red zone that you want to avoid?
Instability means the arrow you are attempting to keep in the green zone fluctuates more violently
with Quant it gets pretty erratic
so u want to aim for a module that negates the instability in the negative?
It makes it harder to keep in a single position
Yes. I think?
and the Lancet is the most stable by a long shot. easier to make up the power
Considering a 4.8k mass rock with at least 12% quant should fill a prospector with quant, why both going planet side and risk getting caught
That is if you are able to divide the rock properly
less bugs planetside especially with unscannables
Some times things don't go your way
But it's also easier to get to CRU-L1 for the +6% quant bonus in the halo between CRU-L1 dna ARC-L3
so I like the argo mole, and I usually have at least one friend to play with
should I be focusing on lyria or belts?
does the mole have the same scanning issue in astroid belts?
Personally, i would still say belts because the MOLE still currently has a dropping issue if the pilot seat isn't in use, meaning with 1 friend you still only have 1 laser in use
weird, but okay
It's a bud that I really hope they manage to sort out soon
Not sure what math you're doing here, but you need a 32% at 5k mass to fill a Prospector, assuming perfect breaks. 12% at 4.8k is less than 12 SCU.
You guys notice that the price of cargo in the refactor vid was about ten times more costly than at present?
probably just something random in their testing servers
Damn. Was hoping hauling might become more profitable with the ramp up in piracy we're gonna see
it will be
they reward the things they want tested
Well thats good to hear. Im gonna have to start hiring escorts
Got jumped by a player when selling my quant. Lost about a full cutlass worth. Didn’t even ask for a ransom, just started blasting
Yep, some people are like that. There's no real penalty for that kind of thing at this time, so they do it just because they can
Was a cutlass blue as well so I couldn’t even run. I just logged out to avoid giving them the satisfaction
I just want to put out there that about 3 weeks ago, I noticed I was getting a bit less than UEXcorp or other calcs were giving me. I thought I just wasn't collecting everything. But I've noticed it's consistent. These calculators think it's about 50kg per SCU, but I've noticed they're overestimating my gains by about 28%, consistently.
It's really more like 62 to 63 kg per SCU
Can the expanse refine material from the Argo mole?
I wouldn't see why not might not be able to run it all at once though the system is based on the bags on the side so take what you want from that
Took a few hours but I have enough quant in a refinery to replace what I lost
What’s the highest percentage quant rock you guys have mined?
0%
Anyone have a guide to trading? Not the "you buy shit somewhere random and drop it somewhere else and bam money" but more in depth: prices of individual cargo, best place to sell which cargo or to buy which cargo, trade routes, best cargo for what missions, and missions types, etc
(i dont have the game yet but i am getting a pc soon and the game so i wanted to start learning things)
!tradetools
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
Note that making decent money trading requires a large ship
Nice, that’s a good number to compare with. Thanks
lol
I've hit 45% or so a couple times, I think. I once had a cluster with two of those and managed a 95.99 SCU Quant run in the MOLE
Is the Avenger Titan a good starting point?
nope
the freelancer max is about as small as you can get while still making somewhat of a profit
Beginner bounty missions will be doable in the titan, yes. You can also do package delivery missions or FPS combat missions
Is the payout alright?
Beginner bounty missions will give you 2-6k for a couple minutes of work, initial package delivery missions will be 8k for 10-15min of work, fps combat can start at a lot more than that if you do cave missions and loot the gems from bad guys and boxes
once you've built up about 40k you can also try out mining by renting a ROC and Cutlass at a refinery, which will be 100-200k/hr
Cool
Now i gotta get a pc and a game
Any orgs or groups out there that help out new players in game?
There are plenty. I suggest Frontier Consolided. Team mining can have high earnings.
Hey guys can anyone tell me if the 1scu cargo box trick from putting 2 pembroke armors into a ship still is meant to work ?
have tried a couple of times but no box spawns
Cheers ill check it ou
can anyone help me? i want to transport my material to MT but there are not boxes in my Cutless black. is this a bug? i only transport Quant and Bexalite
damn, 5 quant rocks in one spot and can't mine any of em
x If your transporting Quant, the refinery will dump it all into the ship. It does not show up as cargo right now. Load the ship. move it and sell it.
USC is another, it's the one Farrister belongs to. But they have a strict entry system and are absolutely against illegal in-game activities
I'm guessing 6000+ Mass Rocks, and you don't have surge/stampedes?
They were duds. Couldn't target em or scan em with a mining laser
Were they in the halo?
Hey guys, i was wondering how i garauntee making profit trading with my Herc C2?
do i just fly from a to b with cargo and sell for garaunteed profit?
is it based on distance, supply demand?
Supply/Demand, and initial value, Wholly.
Laranite is the most profitable commodity that isn't vices. But all outposts don't have enough to fill a herc in one sitting. Also, anyone can scan you to see your cargo.
My largest rock quant was 49.6 percent at a mass of 5.2k. So much quant was left when I filled my prospector
Interesting altho the whole being agaisnt illigal activitied is kinda shit
Since I don't plan to do said activities, I'm fine with it.
Oh ye, np aswell but i kind of wanted to experience all aspect of the game
Technically the "Disposal" missions that have you gathering up waste on Microtech, are usually "Illegal" but the NPCs don't care. The extended info option to show some debug info calls the tracked mission "unlawful_"
There are definitely lawful disposal missions. But you don't know unless you explicitly know what place you're getting the waste/scrap from.
48% was the purest ive ever found
that shit was uncut raw
32%, 4500 Mass
Was also in a 4 rock cluster
I think they mean the initial rock pre-break. Both Q-Type and Quant Deposits have a maximum of 50% un-broken / spawned
Is there some kinda bug that makes my prospector not scan rocks to mine them?
Or a key I might've accidentally pressed?
Unscannable rocks. Happens all the time in the asteroid belt.
Are you in mining mode?
Bedlog to switch to another server.
tried that, too. Maybe I got unlucky.
If you're in mining mode and within 300m of the rock/asteroid, it should give you the details if it's not unscannable
And you can see details in mining mode up to 12km away in space with a ping
Yeah, I've been mining for a while, I know how it usually works.
That's why I'm asking about a bug or akeybind
Sounds like it's a just me thing
Nope, more likely just a bad server. Switch to a different region to force a different server
k. Land down under, here I come!
how do you turn on the center turret in the mole?
is there a hotkey I can use or is there someplace weird I have to look
nm
Is grim hex the only place that buys widow?
"No Questions Asked" Trading Console
Stanton > CRU L4 > CRU-L4 Shallow Fields Station
Is the only other place to sell it
Note that you will LOSE profit by selling it to the CRU-L4 station. Since CRU-L4 only buys it for 24 each
Is the talks of the Argo MCV fake news? I didn't think CIG wanted manufacturing
Or is MCV a different acronym?
The Argo MCV is in the files, which is why it is being talked about. But we don’t have any information about it besides it’s name. Everything is speculation at the moment.
What's MCV stand for? Mining Cargo Vehicle?
Argo ship! Oh shit!
Who knows.... I am wondering if its a hab creation ship....
Though I'd love manufacturing to be in the game, I don't see how you can with actual manufacturing companies?
I wouldn't be surprised if munitions had a manufacturer stamp.... So what can you make of note?
Cobbled shield gens? Like Bandit tech from borderlands?
Or knock offs?
Unless you have to buy the rights to manufacturer... Like a temporary copyright license..
Probably will be buying blueprints
Hadanite is the highest value gem: https://sc-trade.tools/deposits/Hadanite
You want to use a ROC of course.
Diamond is terrible by the way: https://sc-trade.tools/commodities/Diamond (Raw)
Bexalite is the next best thing to Laranite if you don't like Quantainum.
Since Bexalite, when refined, sells for as much as Raw Quantanium (44 UEC each unit.)
Each SCU is 100 units. So if you have 32 SCU of Bexalite, it would be 140800 aUEC for a full yield of bexalite.
Was doing cargo :/ too late now
If you were doing cargo, the next best thing is commodities like titanium, agricium, etc.
Diamonds and laranite aren't gems
Man, I spent all weekend no-life running cargo so I could get a C2 again. Finally got it. Took it on it's first cargo run, I had just enough to fill it, 731 credits left. Jump back to Hurston to sell, ship blows up at the end of the jump.
RIP
Hundreds of cargo runs these past few months and that's never happened.
hey guys im about to do my first run of selling quantum refined, where do you go to sell it
any city
except for orison, dont go there
head to whichever city is closest, and then go to the TDD (trade and development division) to sell your quant
Can a cutty black hold 2 rocs, and is there a way to transfer the roc inventory to the cutty so we can prolong the mining trip between selling?
also what ya think is a solid bet aside from a cutty black for 2 rocs?
yes and yes
will the transfered inventory become cargo boxes in cutty, or act like internal stroage?
you have to back the first ROC in backwards, and then the second ROC drives in normally. You'll have to open the doors from the pilots seat once you land so that you can actually get out of the cutty, but it works
ahh good additional info!
you just have to open the inventory of the ROC and then transfer your gems to the inventory of the cutty
its just internal storage, no boxes
it would be the same as moving an item from your ship inventory to a station inventory, except you're moving items form the ROC inventory to the cutty inventory
ahh perfect info, thanks! ( sorry got distracted for a bit. )
All good
Also, you have to back the first ROC up until it hits the wall, otherwise the other one might not fit
haha, rodger that, I am running all over the place while talking.
Have fun manually dragging items from the ROC into the cutlass' inventory, unless you use VoiceAttack.
ohhhh, didnt think of that enjoyment. may just do single roc full runs then. ( at elast till transfer all buttons and shift click to transfer stuff. )
Freelancer max can easily take two. MSR too (flies better but longer to reach seat)
Carrack
MSR
😦
Jesus people really don't play safe, do they. This would have broken two of my personal cargo rules;
-
Don't load more than half your wallets worth into a single cargo haul.
-
Don't load more than you would be comfortable losing from a crash, 30k or other issue.
-
Never spend more than 200k on cargo until both the first two points are rendered un-needed due to sufficient wallet size.
Follow these rules and your wallet should never go below a certain level unless your playing a bit dumb or you like the risk.
that's why I mine until when I use aUEC for Trading, it's "fun money" and it's lost is of no concern
From the PTU forum on Spectrum (Public)
(Monday) We are currently looking to have a 3.17.4 IAE Expo Hall playtest later this afternoon on the PTU for all backers! Start time TBD but will let you all know when we are closer to knowing!
https://www.erkul.games/loadout/SNh3T4Pn this good mole?
Lol, I know all this. I'm not mad about it, I just thought it was funny that something like this would happen on that specific run, having never happened to me before. I'm not new to this, fairly experienced in fact. It wasn't a complaining comment, just sharing.
Ah, fair enough 😄
I'm one of the rare type of people who don't play to grind cash, I just fart around for fun. The only reason I grinded to a C2 over the weekend was because I wanted a change of scenery from my Cat, and to do some testing.
C1 is now off the pledge store, since the concept Sale is over.
Itll probably be back for IAE tbf lol.
Do maintenance missions rank up?
3.17.4 has been opened to the PTU. No Corsair though
Bah, I was going to check PTU just for Corsair
It will be on the showroom floor, I am certain. I'm talking about those who have purchased it and were wanting to fly her.
So, I can take a look around, but I cannot even rent it right now in PTU, right?
Correct. PTU is pre-testing, not sure rental will be an option yet
Me. That's me. I want to fly Corsair!
😬
Just curious, why are you interested in Corsair?
Because it's sexy and I'm a Drake fan.
Really that's it for me. Plus I'm all about exploration.
But to be honest, since it's really a combat ship over anything else, I'll likely melt it after I try it out, because I have other things I plan on getting this IAE.
Corsair NOT in the display hall 😦
I can't even get there. The top part of the map is cut off for me so I can't set jumps. Figured I'd eyeball it. Stopped at a lagrange for fuel, intending to jump to MT from there, but this is one of those largranges where it hides Q points while you're there, and I can't select one on the map to jump.
Hmm, out of a ship the map is working fine.
In ship
Out.
uh oh i made a fucky wucky and bought the mole and i need some help because im broke and new to mining
Looks like that map issue was with the Glaive. Got in another ship and it's fine.
Yeah it’s just the glaive
First time in it. I saw we had all the ships so I was like "How you doin".
Look up tutorials on Youtube
I would recommend setting spawn point to New Babbage
how long for places to refill their demand for cargo?
cool min
A "server tick" seems to be anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes from what I've seen. If you want to see the rate check out sc-trade.tools
Both buys and sells have certain caps and recharge rates
https://sc-trade.tools/home Has the timer refresh rate for each place for both selling and buying
Did anyone look at the raft on the ptu? Curious if the elevator is fixed
please give me free cargo ship im poor
You can't give cargo.
Yet
™️
Kinda looking forward to that.
If they had hanger space to deliver to for refining orders
Then you have legit loops
For hauling your mate's cargo
i want ship to deliver cargo
give me money for a freelancer
pls
**5. No trading or selling for any items; virtual or physical except in market-street💰 . Real money trading, begging (even as a joke), or spamming is always prohibited. **
Begging is literally against the rules for this Discord, I suggest you stop unless you want a ban
C2 or Caterpillar. Anything less than that won't make a lot of money in the current version of the game.
okay thanks
So 3.18 just gives traders more risk but no more reward:
where should i go to mine qunatanium
This is what I'm looking forward to. I never did care for trading in these games, but cargo missions are my jam.
Just do a hand full of Box missions... The Freelancer is so cheap, you have it within 1-2 days of delivering boxes ... and that's literally the slowest way.
is this a good rock?
It's all personal preference. I don't ever mine anything under 25% Quantanium unless I find one right away
Ehhhh. Low mass and low %, you've got maybe 15 SCU of Quant there
Mine it toasted! It's a good first rock to start out with!
If only they were changing the cargo values with the physicalized patch and not down the road sometime :/
Yeah I get that, but at the same time it's a why change it now when it has to be changed again later thing. More work for no real reason.
Also, the new trade system will have two venues: Mission style cargo and then player owned cargo.
Reputation for hauling cargo and then player owned buy/sell
The missions are what I'm stoked about.
Will higher rep levels unlock higher paying jobs?
That's generally how it works.
And the mission "cargo" is just like boxes of air so to speak?
I found out during the PTU that the cockpit visibility on the C2 Hercules and the Freelancer MAX are the same. It's just the style/design of the top and bottom are flipped.
Question
hay, where can i buy the waveshift gadget, having some trouble
What is the best mining head for prospector mining for quantum
aswell, a impact 1 , two focus 3 modules, and a vauxhall be would be enough for what size rock, potentially a waveshift too. any help would be appriciated :D
inmy opinion its the impact 1
Thank you
here are the passive moduels
since the impact has room for 3, a great build would be 2 focus 3, and 1 vaux c3
gadject may verry but for thoes BIG rocks that will leave you heartbroken to leave because you can get the,
get a waveshift
aswell as the consumable bandit would help a ton
Lancet. I don't know why this guy above is going on about anything other than that. Lancet is by far the easiest laser to use for mining quantanium
The only reason to use anything other than Lancet is if you really, really don't like how the Surge module works and you still want to be able to mine larger rocks
But a Lancet can mine any quant rock up to ~5.5k mass without needing modules or gadgets at all, which you can't do with any other laser
So currently if someone steals my ship full of cargo they cant do anything with it
But in 3.18 they'll be ablento sell at NQAs?
The way it was explained is that it'll be just like other cargo, but not exactly high value commodities that others would really profit from if they were to take it from you. But it'll still be real cargo.
If you've ever played Elite Dangerous, it'll probably be like that. You have trading where you research trade routes, buy and sell yourself, then there are cargo missions, where you're given cargo and run it from A to B.
I also recently switched to Impact 1 after being on a lancet for a while. I got tired of finding rocks I couldnt mine
Maybe. They might need to move it into their own ship to sell it. Currently the devs haven't said anything about lifting the "can only sell from a ship you own" thing
... Lancet with surge and stampede can mine basically anything
you saying the lnacet could mine certain rocks or the impact?
I had more luck with the impact
alright
Sure, but I got tired of having to rebuy modules every time I pulled my ship and found the Impact could do it all without modules
what sub-components did you use?
I dont anymore. They disappear so regularly that I got tired of rebuying
Ive reset my character three times and cant escape this bug
let me run some nu,bers really quick
You're able to mine 100% Quant chunks with the impact's +10% instability without modules or gadgets?
Yeah
Never seen a full rock of quant but if you mean after the first break yeah thats not bad
And Im able to mine bigger rocks than I could in the naked lancet
Right, after the first rock
Optimim range, stick to the edge, paddle the beam, easy
Oh and I do the thing to press g twice so the mining head on the gimble is easier to wiggle so i avoid exploding a rock
Without like throwing my whole ship around
Because nobody likes blowing up a roxk
Can you explain stick to the edge and paddle the beam? Or is there a good guide that goes more in depth
I don't know if there's a guide, it's just a thing I started doing to not blow up rocks but crack hard-to-crack rocks
put full power to the beam and shoot it at the edge of the rock in a way that you can quickly wiggle it off the rock when you overload it and let it cool down
then put it back on
once it's at the bottom of the optimum range
so you're frequently popping into "overcharge" but you're off the rock really quick and it cools down fast, then you ride it all the way through optimum to get the crack
Once you get your ship in position, you can press g twice to cycle the gimble through gimble modes, so your joystick or mouse movement moves the gimble instead of the ship itself.
That lets you get the laser off the rock really fast without actually changing your position
I dunno if it's effective or not but that 2nd gimbled mode also makes it easy to spread the energy out when you're cracking the rock initially, making the crack easier to get
I'm sure I'm not the first person to do it, I just don't know that anyone told me to do it
I think per new vocabulary I have learned that I shouldn't say "rock" but "chunk"
Or just switch off the beam?
Well then you have to bring the power back up every time you turn it back on
yeah, which loses you time in the optimum range
it took me a while to get the timing right but it makes it all go faster.
how good is cargo rn i have never done it but i got enough for a hercules and it sounds fun
"a bit" is an understatement
literally doing the same thing over and over and over
you can broadly apply that to many aspects of life
So I qualified it with a bit because you can get creative with routes, and cargos, and activities... but there's only so much
and if you want pure profit you're just running laranite back and forth and meh
but there's a nice lil ag supps -> proc food -> fluorine run I do that I cap with distilled spirits before landing that I find more entertaining
grab lots of helmets and loots between
what would be a good ship for it my max is 10m
I think hercs and cats are the best in game rn
the herc c2 is a good ones ?
most cargo in the game atm
Probably. But I'm a Drake fan. Caterpillar is just too cool
heck yeah, cat is what I got.
I wonder what the volume difference is
I think it's on the wiki
C2 is the best ship for cargo hauling ingame rn
caterpillar is second best (I think) and the M2 is very close to the cat
its like 130-140SCU
im new and looking to mine
In comparison to the Cat, a C2 has more cargo, more maneuverability, more speed and vehicle carrying. Compared to a Cat, the M2 had a little less cargo, but adds more firepower and more troop transport in addition to the other positive features of the C2.
Does anyone know if the M2's nose turret slaves as extra firepower for the pilot? It's been so long since I've flown it that I can't remember.
I bet not.
I’d be surprised if it did
How do people like the Hull A?
Just pledged it along side a Vulture for post wipe.....Is it usable for daily driving in the short term?
....So less a daily driver, and more usable for other things outside of cargo...Like simple missions and such
I'm not sure what you can do in a Hull A currently over a multirole ship. Cargo refactor might make it more interesting with missions
I love the Hull series so much
hey, is there anyone mining savvy that could help me understand mining and refining?
There are some pinned guides in this forum. I would recommend going out there and mining until you are comfortable with it. Stay away from quantainium until you are more skilled
Mine everything agricium and higher
The lancet laserhead is both the meta and cheap.
For refinery, use the Dinyx Solvent method (not spelled right but close)
I CCU'd up to a Freelancer pretty much straight away anyway
Yeah, the Hull A is truly a starter cargo ship, lol
The Hull A is pretty set in its role, it isn't good for much outside of cargo. You could do boxes in it, but it isn't great for those either (awkward entry).
It's one of those ships that won't come into its own until more cargo work is done. It'll probably be a nice little ship for the cargo missions, rather than doing the trading that we currently have.
It's not really good for cargo either, but it will get you started on that loop XD
Love seeing them in game because of how rare they are.
Hull a will get cargo containers coming up in 3.18
I still love flying mine waiting for the hull c to turn flyable
Is there any information on how the starfair will be able to refine materials like will I be able take quantanium from mole and process it into fuel?
Has anyone had an issue when collecting refinery jobs two or more at a time into the cargo of your ship, the second job isn't on the ship when selling at Trade Division?
I only run one at a time in fear of that
I always do the 3 orders together and never had any issues collecting them
Hmmm this is the second or third time my ship only has one on board. using a aquila with 96sc
I'll likely do one at a time or save up ore to do one job worth a full run.
Guys , someone know in Mole witch Laser is front Laser by the number, when you wanna just put modules on midle one ?
Is it always windy at Aberdeen? or just on the sunny side?
What are the best in slot modules for the prospector? For quantanium mining
I use a Stampede fairly regularly
Looking for other recs besides that, myself 👌
With a Lancet, if you're mining on moons you'll want 2x Surge and 1x Stampede to be able to mine large rocks
If you're mining asteroids, you don't need any modules
If I mining asteroids, would I only need Lancet or not even that?
Just the Lancet mining head, no modules needed for asteroids. You'll still want the Lancet over other mining heads for the instability reduction
It seems to always be calm under OM-1, so it might be associated with the heat of day
ok, thanks, this was my 2nd trip and it was windy, that's why I was wondering
I always mine under OM-1 now, that moon has the blackest nights you can imagine and most vicious heat of day. Eternal twilight makes it pretty nice
ok, would OM-2 work for the same reason? or is it more 'night' at the south pole?
should be about the same, just the opposite pole
Does anyone use gadgets for solo Prospector mining at all?
No, the axis of the spin keeps the north to the star, so the south would always be night
To me it's just a bother to get out and eva (or walk) to the rock. I mine in the Halo so I don't ever need then
I've not seen the sweet spot where it makes sense to use them. To me they are mostly a novelty
@prime pine it's possible to break 8k rocks solo with a helix head, reiger c3, torrent III, and brandt while also using a boremax gadget
Why only at Halo, is there too much traffic in Lyria? like PvPers?
currently there's a significant number of dead nodes in the halo, I generally prefer lyria mining, but there's inconsistency in the size of nodes there (3k-8k) in the halo, when you do find a node, its always 5kish
and if there's piracy going on the halo can be safer
Is Halo mining pretty good? Never done it
The Halo is perfect. With active angle ping and ID rocks 12km away. I can make quick turns way faster in the Halo over surface side. But it's a preference, I just love being out in the void and it's peaceful with no risk
There are some important tricks that you will need to know, look up red monster SC for active angle ping
This video covers a technique I call Active Ping Angle Tuning and how you can utilize the technique to improve your surveying skills. This is very useful when scouting the asteroid belt or if you are searching for Quantainium clusters on Lyria.
For an in depth guide to surveying in the belt, check out my previous video here: https://www.youtub...
Yes, thanks. On phone, hard to find stuff
Just out of curiosity, how much per hour on average can we expect with Halo Quantainum mining? I heard numbers like $400k, does this sound about right?
Watched all his vids for moon mining. Good stuff.
I figure my income on trips and I aim to earn about 250K aUEC per trip. In two evenings I made 8 trips, earned about 2M
400k/hr average is a reasonable estimate, although remember that you'll still need to haul the refined ore to market to get paid
Is finding Quant in the belt tougher? Been 30 minutes, no rocks
I tired three times. Never found quant in the belt
Using the above posted active angle ping you can know if something is quant or not from up to 12km away. It can take a while to find something, though
Like Chris said, you must use and master that technique to make the Halo worthwhile
One other trick is to remove the laser head, spawn ship, stow ship, restore laser head. I got about a 30% hit improvement
Interesting!
Any good trade or mining stuff coming up for IAE?
Loaded question because IAE is actually a sell. The new concept ship, RSI Galaxy, is trade and refinery (and much more). The BMM is hot ticket nearing completion. The MISC Expanse will be available, actually almost all ships will be available
The biggest changes will begin with 3.18
Salvage will arrive, which is like mining in many ways
I’m beginning to wonder that to adventure in Pyro will require a larger and more robust ship than what you typically need in Stanton System
hopefully with Pyro persistence might be better and you can leave some ships out in the black like the Expanse + Prospector combo
I’ve been learning quantanium miming in the prospector and I’m getting my ship blown up a decent amount because I’m too close when the rocks split or sometimes explode. The wings or some other part blow off and the power won’t turn on.
I assumed the ship was done, even though I’m alive, but is there any way to repair/reboot the ship in this state or do I need to relog?
I guess it was a loaded question. I just have some money available for IAE and always love the more calm professions. I guess with everything available for purchase it’s hard to say what is the go to thing to get😅
Hii! Question, what is the best mining laser and modules to use for mining quantanium in a prospector?
Nope, no way to repair in the field at this time
I need to catch of the refactor stuff but for loading cargo does it snap into place when carried into a ship or is it just haphazardly going to be stacked in a ship? I have yet to watch the video and can’t right now, but I can at least text here for now
I believe they said it was supposed to snap into the cargo grid yeah
Anything on a ship's grid will be available to sell at kiosks. Any cargo taken from a ship, or given, will have to be sold at "No Questions" kiosks
Too
Does it look like the Vulture could carry a ROC?
From eye and guess work
I highly doubt it
I'd say it's about as big as the back plate of a Nomad.....
It would be very handy if it did... I might just have a word with CIG.
Pretty sure that’s big enough for a nice ROC, it definitely looks bigger than a titan avenger, and I’ve heard a ROC can fit in those
Ok happy about the snapping to grid. I’m looking forward to loading by hand since I normally sell quant in batches of 50.
