guys? what modules do you advice for a prospector (no or barely not quant mining)
or is the lancet enough?
Are other sites that does not require suit, not worth it?
To me, no but it is always fun to try other planets
Arial and Daymar are both good
Hadanite spawns in the hottest of places (is the lore)
So, Aberdeen -> OM1, just go to the surface with sunlight side of the planet?
OM1 is on the north pole of the planet. When you look down, you will see the divide. I would dive straight down
Oh, Daymar does not require any suit
it's an eternal twilight spot
oh, I see
Correct, Daymar is good with regular armor
Can I use my a2 for 9t?
I only have flight suit, that should be enough, right?
Also, @mighty prawn here's a great little video by Red Monster SC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-Wz7yZ-_KY
This video shows you how anyone can get started ROC mining for just 39,000 credits in rental fees, and then turn that into 150,000 credits per hour earning potential. While it may not be the fastest way to earn credits, it’s a low cost, accessible option for those who only have access to a basic starter package but want to get involved in mining...
I would recommend armor of some type, but you can do it in a flight suit, just be careful of the status of your character
ok, thanks
You mentioned about re-claming ROC after 2 trips, is this to refresh the ROC or something?
Would I need to do that even after I buy the ROC?
how do i scan rocks without of being in a mining ship?
Yes, although it doesn't have much cargo and m2/c2/caterpillar/Carrack would all be much better
V for scan mode, point straight at the deposit, hold left mouse button to scan
I kinda already bought it so I don't have the money for those
Yes, the ROC components wear out quick. I have experimented with upgraded components and they seem to help but I've not answered that question definitively
If A2 is the largest hold you have go for it, you'll still make 234k bonus per trip
Hm is that compared to c2?
Like am I losing alot?
what is that bonus you're talking about?
Nine tails lock down event has a bonus payout for delivering medical supplies to the event station
If you're going to Hurston or Microtech planets/moon, you should definitely be getting the appropriate extreme temperature armor. I usually have a set at the space station for the planet. IE: Novikov at Port Tressler.
wow yeah that's pretty good pocket money xD
Note that there will be other players trying to kill you, and the event station will have a quantum disruptor of like 200km
Ohh interesting
Can't make the bonus if they never start the event. holy hell
that's a 200km stress trip xD
The event isn't supposed to start for another hour
It starts 2 hours after the listed time
i'm sorry what?
is it worth mining in halo if not for quant? Or moons are better at that?
The listed time is when the event technically "starts" because that's when the initial communications in game start going out "nine tails is going to blah blah blah"
But the blockade itself doesn't start until two hours later. This is how it's always worked
i still haven't heard the announcement
There's no where good for mining things other than Quant, you're going to have a hard time finding them consistently
In 3min ish (1hr till blockade start) there should be one
I guess yeah
I've been running around for half an hour on Arial... never found that much hadanite when I was with ROC. Kinda pissing me off tbh xD
only bexalite I found was 1%
kinda regreting taking a prospector now xD
Am I reading this correct that it is easier to find rocks for Quant than Gems?
Ehhhhhh it's probably still easier to find gems since they're so common and you don't have to worry about the % of the deposit, but quant is much easier to find in high quantities than other ores
That sounds odd, how were you searching? When I've gone ROC mining on Arial I typically found good hadanite clusters within a few minutes
Probably very good rng the exact time I'm not roc mining xD
It’s to make sure the ROC doesn’t die on you out in the field. Instead of reclaiming, you can just repair it at a platinum bay vehicle pad at an outpost (same place that you’d spawn the ROC at)
ok, thanks
Can also repair on the big pads if the ROC is the only thing on them
Oh really? I didn’t know that
I normally just forgo repair and just claim a new one
it's not like you have to wait a long time
[ Laughs in 2+ Minute repair time because server struggling. ]
Had this happen a few times on the 315p I used to own, because of the coffee cup that kept getting un-latched from its spot. The coffee cup is coded to spawn on the counter, but its "Place" point is actually on the coffee maker, where it's meant to truly be. It'll be in the cargo lift if you leave it on the counter and start flying / use the lift / land.
I have never had a repair, refuel, and rearm take 2+ minutes, especially on something like a ROC
You can go watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy while you wait for a Caterpillar to refuel its hydrogen fuel. 😂
It's a good thing the auto store timer was greatly extended, because there's no way it would fuel in time with the old one.
hey quick question will the event start up every few mins after it is done?
I think there’s like a half hour break in between the end of one and the beginning of another, not super sure about that though
The next blockade will start 2 hours after the next listed time in the schedule -- 4 hours, 15min from now
how much can u make trading is it good again
If I have clouds turned off will Orison have the same fps as say Microtech and new babbage?
If somone destorys your ship can they take all the supplies? Just got taken out by another player after loading medical supplies.
not yet
those who do that usually just do it for fun
some also bribe you to let you live in exchange for money
that's actual state of piracy gameplay
Only if you have a caterpillar or bigger. The hard limit on smallest ship you can have in SCU is the taurus basically. Any smaller than that and you're more likely to get less profit than doing one box delivery mission for 8,000 aUEC. Even with it, supply demand might still cause even the taurus to be below that profit margin depending on the commodity. Or it's just too slow.
You can never buy enough Laranite to fill a caterpillar/C2, even if an outpost has its maximum stock of Laranite, it's not enough to fill either in one shopping trip. So you'll want to stock up on other commodities, like Titanium/etc. after you've gotten your Laranite.
Do we know if ROC can fit inside Corsair ?
that would be a big upgrade, but a worthwhile one, since the corsair releases very soon
Ok, a website lists corsairs price as $215, if this true, that's tempting
It'll probably be ~$240 on release
I'm said I didn't get a chance to buy a CCU at the current price
CCU?
I am not sure if Corsair will be a good ship for hunting gems, I have doubts about the visibility compared to cutlass black
I thought I could use Corsair for multiple purposes
CCU = ship upgrade "token"
compared to cutlass, Corsair will be harder to park close to the gems (since it's larger), but will likely be easier to park the ROC in and may also have a longer range scanner for gems
ok, I wonder if I can get on co-pilot seat that slides down to the deck below and get a better visibility
is CCU cheaper?
!ccu

I was going back to base with lots of Meds and I was ejected from the ship now the menu screen says "Install" What is going on? Did a new patch drop? I got 1.1 Million on the ship. EDIT: Here's what happened. It was a short Install to 8240506... The game put me in the station I was near and all cargo is safe!! Wow what a trip.
Hey , newish to the game. where do I buy medical supplies for the ninetails event thanks 🙂
SC Trade Tools, Gallog and UEX will all be able to tell you where you can buy medical supplies from
I wouldn't really bother trying to buy up medical supplies before the event though, as during the event production really ramps up
If a prospector gets blown up or claimed, do you lose permenant modules like torrent 3?
Yup. If your ship gets destroyed or lost and you have to claim it, mining module attachments that are on your mining head(s) are also lost as their technically considered consumables
Yeesh, thats an expensive loss. Thanks
Indeed
That'd why I mainly only use Surge
I learnt the hard way when I sunk over 400k into moduels, set them up on my prospector and Mole, claimed them to the other side of the system and found the modules missing
Ouch
I miss the day when we could equip while out in the field
That only makes sense to be able to do that
I think I am just going to stick to arrons belt then
That's where I mine about 100% of the time
So easy with the active angle ping
Spaceshorts had a new spot in the belt that he was hitting very nice rocks one after the other. I wish I could remember the coordinates att
Aaron *Halo, and yh, I much prefer mining there 😄
What’s the best trading route with a taurus?
Search up profit margins and amounts on SCTT, Gallog and UEX
It's not difficult once yous tart working on it properly
Asttitine from Ida to Loreville CBD is good
Then try Laramie on Aria and backfill with titanium
Again to CBD
fml
that's awful
Check out #looking-for-session, loads more people in there to scout out
Can ROC fit into 400i, all the videos I watch so far makes it look like a no
would it fit well and not explode during transit
Nope, too tall
ok
I've heard it can fit if you shoot off the light bar on top of the ROC, but haven't tried it myself.
That does make the 400i the second most expensive ship (in game) that can't carry a ROC
ok, and what is the first most expensive ship that cannot carry roc?
Redeemer
Yes and? I didn't say anything about what type of ship, just that of all the ships you can purchase in game, the 400i is the second most expensive that isn't capable of carry a ROC.
Everything more expensive than the Redeemer can carry one, and everything between 400i and Redeemer can as well
ok
That does give me more options to look at. I am just looking for a better ship to upgrade that can carry a roc to make money.
Carrack is the best since it has a medical bay so when you go outside after taking your helmet off for a snack, you res in the ship instead of back at a station
I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard the Valkyrie is very good for ROC mining. Plenty of space to park, and it's small enough to easily land near deposits
oh thanks, I will look up that ship. If the price is reasonable for my budget, I might just buy that.
ok, just learned that there is no correlation between in-game purchase price and pledge price
Indeed not
Corsair and Valkyrie is at the top of my list
and 600i, but I have feeling this might not be practical for day to day ROC mining
everytime I keep looking at ship options, I end up with Origin ship, the interior are sooo good
Probably not, yeah. You want something that gives you fast access from cockpit to vehicle/cargo bay (rules out the MSR, 600i, and anything bigger), is small enough to land near deposits, and ideally has an improved scan range for gems
Yeah, that 🙂
Carrack is great when ROC mining with multiple people, though, since you can park a scout ship in the bay
FL max is great and fast switch between seats. Also fast getting roc in/out
If MSR didn't had all those doors it would be amazing too
MSR is fastest "medium cargo" I've flight in tho. Way more enjoyable to fly than Max
Really not worth it for cargo by comparison though...more than 2x the cost for less cargo space and less pilot firepower
MSR is way overpriced for now, until data running actually becomes a thing
And even then I wouldn't consider it unless they remove half the interior doors. 🤣
or just let you lock them open...or honestly just fix doors in general so they detect you coming a lot sooner. If you're running up to the door it should see you're coming and open so you barely have to slow down, not the current run up to door->wait five seconds for it to open->run to next, repeat
Ironically, the freelancer max has the same number of doors, they're just in a straight line with no elevator, and don't take as long to open
Even then, though, I wouldn't want the MSR on principle of it having so much wasted space and those stupid tunnels
The tunnels would almost make sense if that's where they had the servers for data running
My Free Max would not refuel in a hanger after I landed and stored without refueling. Some guy in chat said fire off a flare. I did on the way to my next stop and it worked. Not sure if it was BS or not.
That's great to know. Love these crazy tips, you wonder how did you figure that out?
I will keep an eye on this and cross test to see if that's the hot fix or not.
How much profit can i make with a2 full of medical supplies during illegal blockade
you would make 216k from the bonus + the normal profit from the meds, so at least 300k+ I think
And how much would it cost me to fill?
I wouldn't use an A2 for it, try and get yoru hands on a C2
A2 is still decent, its 216SCU
How much would i make full load on c2
That being said, with the A2 having 216 SCU and the C2 having 696 SCU and the price of medical supplies currently at approx. ~19.37/unit, the A2 would cost around 418,392 to fill while the C2 would cost 1,348,152 to fill
how crack big rocks in prospector? i hab lancent but idk how mine properly
Prices may fluctuate due to the large amount of purchases durign the event
I reccomend looking up some mining guides on youtube. However, if you're on a planet surface and the mass of the rock is greater than 5k, the only way your gonna be able to break those is with a friend or two or hand modifiers and mining modules 😄
@jovial matrix @novel harness Does this help?
Yeah
How much would i make with full load on c2
It's closer to 16.25 to buy and 19.37 to sell
Gimme a sec
Gomma spreadsheet this
There we go. In a single run with the A2, you could make a potential total profit of 283,392 aUEC, but in the C2, you could make a total of 913,152 aUEC. Almost a million per run...
Also funny how 4 bombs take up over 400 scu
You now see why I'm saying use the C2 instead of the A2?
where should i buy said meds
SC Trade Tools, Gallog and UEX are all sites you can find this info on 😄 IT's the basics of cargo hauling
I mean, the physical space of the C2 and M2 are the exact same, but the M2 is still rated for less cargo 😄
Ye
thanks for the info! aslo is that profile banner your fleet?
If i buy c2, what kind of cargo should i run after event
hauling laranite and titanium
Indeed 😄
I was kinda trying to guide them so they could learn to read the markets 😄
well with the C2 he should be a volume trader instead of value trader. i made like 70k on a full load of scrap from a18 to wala. it’s a ritual i do before my cargo runs
wow that’s awesome! can you pm me ur fleet pic so i can ask annoying questions there
Also, jsut out of curiostiy, the M2 could make 684,864 aUEC per run if full 😄
wow that’s not half bad
Done 😄
U have convinced me to get an c2
Rule 5) No begging, even in jest.....jk, but sorry bud, I dont have that rn
Gimme like 6-7 runs and I can easilly get that though 😄
I would call it.. selling lol
nope, they specifically said donate. I dont mind though, I know it was a joke 😄
Good luck bud. Also, you busy this weekend by any chance?
A bit but not too much
You interested in a little...outing?
that sounds suspicious
I can tell you in DMs if you like
sure
Sure
Anyone have trade route recs? Ive been doing terra/gallete to port O but need something in between when port O is full
I usually pick up at outposts and travel to primary port of subsystem ..
I've never traded with PO (for real), most of my experience is that PO is just another outpost with a limited supply and demand.
TDD/CBD doesn't have an upper limit on their demand, hence they'll buy whatever in any quantity faster than you can ever top them off..
@short osprey any other questions, don't hesitate
Help me with acronyms
Tdd and cbd =
Ive been bunkering on crusader so thats where i find myself usually
Ah i see i dont go to orison because of the atmosphere
Trade Division Dept
Central Business District
CBD is lorville
TDD are all the other places (A18, MT, Orison)
Orison - atmo - hence why I don't trade there 🙂
What website resource do you recommend? The one ive used just says distilled spirits
I have 1mil liquid and an m2 for reference
uhm.. I started out with a couple, but then I accumulated enough knowhow to not use them anymore
Trade tools is what ive used i think
I use a set of rules. 1) your cargo space must be filled. 2) with the most expensive you can afford. 3) if cargo space is not 100% full, pick the next one down
- is basically a return to 1)
Gives me these always, which i cant sell all of it at port o
MT takes distilled
tho a good starting is Processed Food at the farms
and Scrap the other way ..
that'll get you started and learning the ropes
when you start to see the system, you can upgrade
Scrap is 1.36 - 1.70, with some varies on supply and demand.
food is IIRC 1.1-1.5 (been a long time since I did food)
tho some places don't look to kindly on spirits. Don't think a party place like MT minds too much
again. PO is just another Outpost with a limited supply and demand
be mindful of Medical Supplies - yes you can buy a whole stack of them. But primary ports only takes 5000 max, and outposts only takes 1000. Meaning you'll be flying all over the place to sell 69600 units .. don't ask me how I know 😄
Are mineral mining worth it? mining Bexalite, laranite, agricium?
is it possible to deplete the halo asteroid belt. man every q rock has been under 4% for an house
hour
if they were found at the same levels of quantanium maybe.
Sadly no. Just there to practice on for now.
ok
Yes, you can make decent income with mining anything above agricium in value. You just won't make the very large dollars like with Quantainium. This will eventually change and a better balance will come into play
There is a pretty nice Quan hotspot that was found. I'll send the coordinates when I get back to my office
OK, try this route: From ARC-L1 head to Crusader and drop out at 33.6M Km
This was discovered by Macedon. I saw one person pull 4 high end rocks out in 4 trips that included two unicorns.
Unicorn = 32SCU of PURE Quantainium
How do you drop out while in QT?
Hold B, or if that doesn't work hit U to shut the ship down (maybe just I to shut down engines)
ok, thanks
I didn't know that was possible
Can you save that location?
Bookmarking?
The best you can do is drop a delivery package or research mission probe there--as long as you have that mission tracked, the item will show a marker on your HUD
Or you can have someone else in your party stay there and you can warp to them
Other than that, no
ok, thanks
whats the lowest Quan ratio for a rock to go fter?
is 2% okay to go after or is it a waste of time?
Depends on mass. At 5k mass, 1% = 1SCU.
20% 5k mass rock is probably worth it since that's 20 SCU. 20% 2.5k mass rock is 10 SCU, probably not worth it. 20% 7.5k mass is 30SCU, definitely worth it.
Waste of time
I’ve heard only mine like 20% quant rocks
I am thinking of getting 350r, is 4 SCU enough for any cargo/delivery missions from NPCs?
It's fine for box missions, but we don't actually have cargo missions yet.
PSA: Just learned something. DO NOT take an elevator in a Herc while in QT! It dumps ya into space immediately. Just lost over 1.2 million because of it! LOL!
Use the ladder!
If you wait in space until the ship exits quantum, you should be able to click an elevator button which will get you back to the ship
anyone have problems when they go to refine quantanium it just doesnt show up but it shows up all the other resources
If you landed in the hangar, you probably triggered the bug that causes quant to go inert. Don't land in hangars, always impound
Wait seriously that’s a bug that’s dumb how do I get my ship impounded
Don't call ATC, just wait in front of a closed hangar door. If you don't see the impound warning within 30 seconds, try a different hangar
Ok thanks
Spooky action at a distance amirite
Quantum entanglement, obviously
Throw it into space, it's litterally trash, or at least waste
Nope, it's jsut waste
man every single rock in mining belt unscanable regadless of where i go
Get out of the ship, eva out of the ships comm range, get back into said ship and then try scanning it again
Is it worth upgrading from the Cutty Black to the Conny Taurus trading wise?
For pure trading/ground vehicle hauling, technically yes
Okay, thanks
Dear citizens,
Can the ROC-DS be use alone?
You’ll be getting in and out a lot.
is there a way to see the rest of refinery in process?
when you have more than 3 on the queue
Scroll
cheers
Nw 😄
I found out the the Med run bonuses are the same for the C2 and A2. I wonder if the amount of cargo on board helps determine that bonus. If cargo doesn't matter that much you could run the A2 more than the other if you were budget conscious. So I might get a half load for the A2 and see what the bonus would be.
I'm pretty sure it's 1000aUEC per SCU
Mine have all been 696K except for the Free Max at 120K. These are full loads.
Was that with a C2?
Both the C and A2.
Huh, weird
I'll let folks know what happens But will be busy for a bit coming up. Maybe someone else test a partial load.
the asteroids that doesn't give scan results are not worth looking and mining right?
The game will not let me scan any rock, any solutions?
Get out of your ship, EVA out of your ship channel distance, EVA back to yoru ship, get in and try scanningagain
The above.... And also
Store your ship
Remove the mining head
Recover ship
Store ship
Replace head
Recover ship
anyone?
Read my answer to the same issue just below yours
That sounds very odd. The bonus is supposed to be 1k per SCU sold, and that's what it's always been for me in any ship
Likewise never been any different for me.
a good percent still not showing results, anything else I can try?
which ship should I rent for cargo, freelancer or cutlass?
Depends on how much cargo you want to move. If you're just doing refinery loads and only have a couple, a cutlass is probably best since you can rent it at the refinery
If you have quite a few jobs, an Andromeda may be your best bet to rent to deliver them--has 96 SCU of space vs Freelancer's 66
The Freelancer has 66 to Cutlass 46, but you need an extra "empty" trip to a planet to rent it anyway, so it's only worth it in terms of saving trips vs. cutlass for a fairly narrow range--unless you're already a the planet to rent
andromeda might be a bit much, would be interesting to try though
i forgot that there's no rent in refinery but the ports do.
I have around 6-8 jobs
I have seen the future of Cargo purchasing/selling in #956653690478006303, and it is glorious.
About to kit out a prospector for quan mining. Wtf do I put on it lol
Lancet MH1 as the mining head. Always. If you plan to mine mass 6000+ Rocks, you'll need to also stock some Surge and Stampede consumable modules. Make sure to equip one of each on your Lancet MH1 before you head off to a planet/etc.
if you are going to the halo to mine, you will never need the consumables, since the asteroid rocks don't get that big currently. But there's a much higher chance to run into ghost rocks in the halo/asteroid belt.

Yes, it's weird. It is harder to use and requires you to use a charge of the Brandt to break every chunk, even the small ones. Lancet is usually better.
Damn. Ok I’ll switch it up

💯
Does the game take off whatever attachments you put on a ship when you claim it at another station?
Mining modules are lost. Everything else should come with
The star gods are against me today
For some reason I can move my Roc mining arm. My mole works with no issue. Shouldn’t they be the same controls? I havnt used a Roc in ages but wanted to change it up for a bit. Are they separate keybinds in the settings? I only see one area I can change keybinds for mining arms…. I’ve powered it in. Switched to mining mode. What am I missing?
ROC uses mouse move to move the mining arm, only in first person.
If you're putting the movements on a controller or joystick, need to also enable free look with z (I bind it to the same button on stick as mining mode so both activate) . Roc is a ground vehicle so it has some different binds
Oh okay. So I can just set my free look. This may be why I have issues with remote turrets and not manned turrets.
Don't think you need free look for remote turrets
Well I have the same issue with remote turrets, they won’t move, but manned turrets move just the same as when I’m in my mole laser
Someone else had that same issue a few weeks back, trying to find the messages
Oh hey, it was you. Did you ever see this reply? #flight-combat-racing message
so the freelook I need to bind is -ground vehicle/ freelook (hold)
I think so, can't check currently
No I probably gave up. I had figured out the manned turrets and when I got those working I counted it as a victory. But remote and obviously Roc now are the ones I’m still trying to work on
It's not actually a hold binding
Yes I missed that a while back. I will check those too and see if that helps any.
Okay, so I’m just looking for regular freelook
No I mean I think that's the right binding, it's labeled wrong is what I mean
Ahh okay
Let me start the game and I'll see what I have
I’d appreciate that
Freelook (Hold) is only for third-person. Also, it doesn't work on ground vehicles because while in third-person, mouse movement is freelook already.
Since ground vehicles don't have a pitch/yaw/etc.
False. "Freelook (Hold)" in the ground vehicle category is what's needed to unlock the ROC mining arm when using joysticks.
Okay so I set it to the same as my mining mode. I will go see if this works now
These are the bindings to get the ROC working on my dual stick setup
Wait, I'm missing some
Full set
Perfect! I really appreciate this.
Yes, I have Freelook (Hold) as the same button as mining mode. If they get desynced (e.g., it turns off freelook when you start mining mode instead of vice versa), just tap z on the keyboard to fix it
Will do. Thanks again
Wish I could enjoy controllers on games like SC, I just can't, I have to use a Keyboard and mouse. I tried on some console shooters, like Killzone, and even after hours of playing it, I couldn't get into it.
So I got it working. But not completely but it’s doable. I can get it to move now with my mouse and joystick, but with the joystick it barely moves. It basically won’t leave the circle in the center of the screen where the mining laser accelerator is. It’s workable, but I can’t figure out how to change this. I’ve tried messing with dead zones and whatnot but nothing works. I’m sure it’s another setting that is blocking this but I’ll chalk this up in the win column for tonight since I’ve finally got some sort of movement
Thanks for you help fellas
hey guys is there a way to increase the text size in the mining hud?
Are gems easier to find than quantainum? or the other way around?
I did watch a video where someone did zoom into those information. Are you not able to zoom in through F + wheel mouse?
How can I sell these I found them while exploring crash ship
I found a bunch of quantanium rocks and I cant scan them 😭
EVA out of your ship, leave the ships channel (about 70m away), get back into your ship, and it should be scannable again
I did twice
Do you have a hand modifier by any chance?
hand modifier?
A mining gadget you can place
well I can't now unfortunately
nope it doesn't update at all
Dam. Sorry bud, I think your out of luck on that one
new modules + no quant, just gotta suck it up
The only other trick, not that you can do it underway, is to remove the laser head, spawn, store, restore laserhead
can't do that midway, did beforehand not much happened. At this point not scanning is normal.
Is FLTR-XL Module any useful?
It's useful but they don't persist, a lot to risk. I only ever use Surge
Free look is supposed to resolve exactly that problem
So, mining. I'm hopeful someone might be willing to take me out and have a look at that, since I am running my head against the wall trying to do missions that bug out more often than not.
Why did you even approach them? You can see that they're unscannable from up to 12km away
I had hoped it would but I keybinded my freelook and it just moves my cursor and not my actually turret. Manned turrets work fine. Only remote are like this
Oh, remote turret, not ROC. No idea then, sorry
I assume you have turret movement bound
I usually prefer mouse for turrets to joystick, much more precise
Is there any tricks to using a surge module multiple times to get into the green zone?
I am pretty bad at guestimating and end up blowing my self up a lot
The trick is simply see how far off your first one was. Then wait for rock to cooldown to that same amount. So your 2nd one fills to where first one did, plus the extra from first one
So, if your first got to 75% till top of green. You let Rock cool down to 25%, then hit 2nd. Which would give you 100% to top of green
But it's all done by eye?
Yes...
That's where I start to falter 😆
I mean...I guess you could put a finger on your monitor? Lol
Cut out a strip of paper to the right size and tape it to your monitor
Yea my Roc works now. My manned turrets work. But my remote turrets are a no go. Not sure why. One step at a time. I’ll take a few more weeks of not worrying about it and then try to troubleshoot again.
I tried to go to NT-999-XX, they stared to shoot at me. Do I need rep?
Who's "they"? I don't think there are turrets at that outpost
They do have it at outpost now, they shot at me as I was trying to land
I thought maybe NPCs are going around, but the second time, i realized, it was the outpost
I tried to land two times
Either it's an enemy NPC controlled outpost or you don't have a mission for it.
I do not have mission for it, I spot some trade route and I was trying to do them
I do not have screenshot, but I did see the turrets outlined icons all over the outpost as I was landing
I did some security missions, and I thought maybe that's what got me lossing reps with those guys
If it's got turrets, you need a mission for it in order for them to not shoot at you--and even then, depending on the mission type, they might still shoot at you
what do you mean persist?
trying/attempting to fix the "bug" because apparently it isn't normal
It's absolutely normal for there to be large numbers of unscannable rocks in the belt
I figured, I'm just following what people say
That's why I asked if it was normal but was told it's bugged
It is bugged, but it is also normal, because that bug happens for like 50%+ of the asteroids in the belt
also there were scans, just not results
fair enough
yes, if there's no results from the scan, that means they're unscannable asteroids, don't bother flying to them
I must've interpreted it as it's not normal and a bug than a bug that is normal
If you lose your ship, the laser head will be there when you claim the ship, all attachments to the laser head are lost
This is Star Citizen, bugs are normal
Well I did ask whether the bug was normal indirectly
I'm just following what I get told
I was shed light of a work around, and attempting it
Hey guys just want to let you guys know about a bug I encountered in the mole, it turned all my quant into inert for no reason, so watch out
Known issue. Don't land in a hangar, just get impounded.
What shield gen and power should I upgrade on my prospector?
I would say dont worry about upgrading those, as they arent important to mining
Ok last question, if I’m mining on lyria the closest refinery in arc l1?
yes
Ok I lied. What mass/quan % worthy of cracking
well at 5k mass, each % of quant is about 1SCU
so you're looking for something like 20% or higher on a 5k mass or higher rock
Ok so if I find a smaller rock mass like a 3k I would want a higher quan % like 45?
probably
Oh nice. Thanks, I will prob die trying lol
good luck, you can do it
Cracked it, then ai pirate showed up…

is it possible for split rocks to just disappear in space?
I'm struggling to mine quantanium. I found a bigt 8k mass rock but no matter how much power i put into my laser i got no charge value?
I tried hitting surge thing which boosted it to 50/60% but then just started to fall again
using lancet mining laser. What am i missing?
stampede module probably
care to expand? i think i have that, it does pulse like animations. I hit that asoon as i got into the green
I'm not experienced with mass over 5.5k unfortunately
All I know Is you need a few burst of surge and a stampede module for rocks that big
Surge into the top of green, stampede. If it still falls out of optimal too quickly, it's too big for that method and you'll need gadgets as well.
hey, when I'm mining a rock and I'm looking for the sweet spot on it, do I want to see more or less sparks?
It's more to do with how the heat meter reacts.
Its not always that easy to find the sweet spot on high instability rocks
Hell, Im not even sure there is one sometimes :p
I usually mine quant so its just a wobbly mess most of the time anyways
I tried to sell a patch of quant for 35k that was more than a full prospy and no one would buy
Probably suspicious of you baiting them into a potential trap
blow up their empty prospector for a bunch of nothing?
“Hey, I’ve got this sweet patch of quant on Lydia, pay me 50k and I’ll show you to it.” Sounds a little sus
Well they don’t know what you’re going to do, so they’re probably just being cautious
Just like how people are cautious of medicalbeacons
my point being what can I do?
Well in my case I don't do pvp I'm a miner and trucker maybe a lil pve that's all
medical beacons they likely have fps gear I can loot
popping an empty prospector is...pointless?
so medical beacons caution I get
did have one medic come and just kill me though
I’ve done the same, except I was on the opposite end of the deal
So I can understand why people don’t take up random offers like that lol
Hard to make deals like that with no risk of scams
Mhm
I guess next time I'll screen shot it so they can see I am in a prospector myself
That would certainly make it more credible
Gonna try out a Helix with 2x Focus 3's and Brandt instead of the 2x surge\stampede lancets
See if that works out for big boy rocks
And make sure I dont claim the ship again like a dumbass
does the refinery have like a limit how many orders/process it can take?
before it stops you from putting more or deleting older ones?
Not alot of miners with iae and 3.18 on the way
Dont think so no
I don't want to mine only for the refinery to bug and lose my quant lol
Would be a shitty refinery if it cant handle one guy mining some gravel
in theory yes but, it's SC, there's bugs
I want someone to have an "inert materials" empire. That's all they mine.
I'm preparing for the worst case
I mean if they make supply and demand work inert could add some value at some point
gravel is kinda useful, so ye
So, if I upgrade prospector with better mining guns and other modules. Are they gone if I die with the ship?
The insurance would only give me factory default setup, right?
you'll lose only the modules when you claim or blow up
The mining modules will poof, but your mining head and ship modules will stay
ok
can Prospector mine any ore? All the videos I watched focused only on quantainum. I get it, that's the most profitable one.
I think I got the answer that Prospector cannot mine gems
Is Quantainum considered as ore?
yes I believe so
and yes, the prospector can mine any ore, its just that almost everyone only mines quant since it makes the most money
Is Quantainum the only one with 15 minutes timer?
Is Quantainum also the easiest to find?
Quantanium is somewhat difficult and yes it's the current only raw volatile cargo in game
8 rock patch my location if anyone wants it
If the players leave that area, are those rocks gone and re-generated when the next player comes into the area?
or if you come back after an hour or so, all those 8 rocks will still be there?
If I stay here and you get into the server im in they will be here but if I move on they will be gone.
oh I see
Last call or I'm moving on
Well here's a funny. Running cargo. Also kinda sick and have a bit of a fever. I go pick up a load, bring it to Lorville. Get up to do something for a while. Get back at the PC, summon my Caterpillar, go to buy another load. It's still full. I never sold the other one.
Any recommendation for first cargo ship?
Caterpillar and C2 feels a bit too big for me
I probably will be fine with length of caterpillar but the asymmetry might get me
C2 seems a bit too wide, feels like I will catch it going in and out hangars.
Others feel kinda small, don't like the taurus too much and it's a little front heavy
Have you looked at mercury?
freelancer max is a good option
The Cat and C2 are the ones if you want to actually make money running cargo. Sure, you can with smaller ships, but they're easily outclassed by doing other things. If it's credits per hour you want, C2. If you want to run cargo just to change things up, you can go smaller.
could also look at the RAFT
Great little ship, just buggy currently. Unless they fixed the lift.
agreed
Isn't Mercury costs like too much
its like 5mil yeah
Or get a Taurus.
they said that they dont like the taurus
Ah, I see that now. The Connies really aren't all that front heavy, they land nicely if you put them down right. Not like the Hercs where they just want to tip regardless.
compared to cargo space to C2 and Cat obviously
Id say look at the freelancer max then. Fairly small, still makes a profit, even if its a tiny one, and its not too hard to fly
I mean for the price of the mercury to them
Oh yeah the hercs do tip too I remember
They're faaaar worse about it than the Connies.
I guess IAE it is so I can see what is for me
How much in game cash do you have right now and how have you earned it?
I want something pretty large
I have like 100k+ rn but have 32 refineries job lol
Planning on renting andro
Got another quantanium patch here if anyone wants it.
Ah, gotcha.
Will take few runs with andro probably
@cobalt blaze refinery has no limits
why dont you just mine them yourself?
no bugs with refinery really
that will take like 11 trips in an andromeda
I'm in a rental
probably less, but still
ah ok
The reason I asked is because if you were sitting on millions from bounty hunting or something, you'd probably be disappointed with small ship cargo running. It just doesn't make much.
good, I can stack my orders while I sort out my cargo no problems
what ships you got
well Cat or C2 are the options really
Both ships will take some getting used to flying. The C2 will make more money. Period. It holds more and is faster.
to drop off all my mole runs
if there was one a bit rounder and can fit better to hangars
both ships are hard to land. Cat is long, C2 is wide
yup like I mentioned
Both are very interesting to land in smaller hangars.
Gonna go rental for the time being
how much money you got rn
^^
Should be around 5 mil
or more idk
@cobalt blaze you on rn whats ya ign
same here with _
?
I'm kinda thinking about using a different ship just to change things up. Get something that carries half what the Cat can, but it'll probably be twice as fast or more.
I don't like the cat as it has too much doors and take a while to get to the deck
well then you wont like the C2 either lol
But it's the Caterpillar though. Caterpillar is love.
indeed
@cobalt blaze check your balance in game
There is one nice perk to flying the Cat every day for months. Once you get used to it's speed, everything else in the game feels like a rocket.
Don't you dare tell me you gave me UEC
I hate being given no offence
lol
Man its no big deal ive been a billionaire so many times i already have everything
enjoy the game my friend
i run one of the top mining groups on SC
my prospector feels like a bus compared to my aurora and titan
I flew them both and feel so zippy
Yep, that scales. People say the Connies fly like bricks, they feel like ballerina dancers to me after flying the Cat so long.
I have to retrain my brain when I get in my M50.
lol
Nooo
I like suffering as much, I want to feel the pain of playing this game and work my way through
feels like I'm cheating rn..
if it makes you feel better
lol that thing
you can always transfer the moeny to someone random
ive given out 2.5 billion to new players in the last 2 years.
is mining still busted?
I feel worse lol no offence
I like working things myself
It's a lot of fun. I mostly use it to scout for ship meet locations for my org.
I'll keep it for now, greatly appreciated
Will use it for good or when I get frustrated with the game
is the the fastest small ship?
it seems more like a hovering vehicle to me than a ship
Probably one than can quantum
to my understanding, the m50 is the most maneuverable small ship
Can m50 quantum travel?
Khartu-al seems fast
razor lx*
Yes
It is extremely maneuverable
can the razor quantum?
A good pilot in a khartu can dance around any fighter
Excellent, I might upgrade my titan to that once I get a Corsair or something else on warbond
Interesting, why the M50?
Yes. The only small "snub" ships that can't quantum are the Merlin and Archimedes.
me? Once I get a bigger ship for missions and mining, I want something for fun
I see ok
Is there any merits for M50? Missions wise
Wdym merits?
like good stuff
It's difficult to hit, and fast. It's fun to do bounties with.
Yeah
Downside is you don’t have the firepower to really do higher tier bounty missions
But it's not efficient for that at all. Just for fun.
I'm sure it has 2 size 1 weapons
fair enough, just for fun
Yeah
@cobalt blaze 350r is fast af
What are the differences on the constellation ships?
Only Taurus has cargo space value in the calculator
The aquilla has sorta different front
Taurus is a cargo ship, it holds more cargo, has no snub fighter, and has a shielded cargo area in the back. Only one turret I believe, the other is a tractor beam.
Aquila is an exploration ship. Comes with a snub fighter and a rover (if pledged for). Smaller cargo capacity. One turret, the other is a scanner.
Andromeda is a missile boat. Combat ship. Two turrets, tons of missiles, small cargo. Comes with a snub fighter.
The Phoenix is a luxury ship. Two turrets, small cargo, as a pledge it comes with a rover and snub fighter.
specific cargo capacity?
Taurus has 174, rest have 96 I believe
Phoenix has slightly less cargo iirc
Phoenix filled to the top with 96 has cargo clipping into the celling, so I would expect that number to be reduced in the future
Phoenix has 80 SCU cargo according to the internets
Alright then
Im going to check this in game real quick
cheers
Looks like 93 for the Phoenix:
https://i.imgur.com/dgzX5jk.png
Very weird
the one in New Deals display was a Phoenix right?
Yes
The Andromeda and Taurus are also in the terminal if you wanted that instead.
that's super weird. my Phoenix has 96 scu lol
4k mass at 40% quant worth it? Rock beside it is 3890 mass and 37% also
Definitely
What the heck is a... FREIGHT UNIT...

And freight units are inconsistent with cargo box values...
This PDF needs to be updated
1900 / 174 = 10.9195402299
540 / 96 = 5.625
540 / 93 = 5.8064516129
Means Freight Units are no longer compatible with the current SCU system, and cannot be converted.
Found 2 6k mass rocks both about 45% and higher. Yet my laser isn’t getting near optimal lol. Even firing a surge
Need to surge into optimal and use stampede to finish it quickly. You'll have to use multiple surge charges
Would a wave thing help?
Waveshift gadget? Potentially
I had 4 big decent rocks with quant around me and I could only crack 1 lol.
Where did you find this?
Because that's the old as heck cargo system
Both of these are currently a Prospectors bread and butter, these are what you really wanna go for
The image? It's on the PDF for the Phoenix Brochure...
Yes, the current one. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/deb6b9pc5fxccr/source/Constellation-Phoenix-V7.pdf
Not joking, click the "Brochure" link on the pledge store above the variants drop down: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/rsi-constellation/Constellation-Phoenix

Hi there. I've been trying mining and during my mining trip my ship just randomly shuts down and i can't get it working again. Is it a heat or power issue? and how do i not break my ship? lol
Are you in an ROC by any chance?
No, Prospector
Have you modified any components?
I put an Atlas as my quantum and put a lanclet in for the mining laser
Ok, so it sounds like you probably havn't got a strong enough Generator. I would look to try and upgrade that one if you can
you'd want a genoa powerplant, which can be bought at new babbage or everus harbor
hopefully that fixes your issue
I saw two guides, one says to run two x surge and 1 x stampede. The other guide says to run two x focus passives and one brant - thoughts on what works best?
mining quant
I dont mine quant, so i cant help you with that
personally, I prefer passive modules as you only have to replace them after ship claims. I like to run 2x Reiger C3 and 1x Vaux C3
Is hand mining bugged? I tried cracking a rock with the orebit attachment but got nowhere on the left-hand graph thing, even at full power...
Was it a small, hand minable deposit? The hand mining only cracks the tiny rocks, I think .025 in size? The .8 rocks are for the ROC.
Ohhh... I think it may have been larger than 0.025. Did not realize that was a thing...
doesn't any module get lost when claiming, doesn't matter if permanent or disposable ones?
Indeed, but passive modules also dont get used up
only when you claim?
More than likely found an ROC gem rock
nope, even in use. Passive modules dont get used up when in use, they only get lost if the ship gets claimed
but you said you can claim and not lose them
I know passive doesn't get used up
But claiming I'm sure they do get lost
No? I said you only have to replace them after the ship gets claimed
and the message says edited because I accidentally put donly 😄
You could lose more than what you could earn
disposable ones are cheaper by comparison
Ship also blew up in hangar a few times, so Im down a few hundred k's on Focus 3's
Yeah, true. As long as you're able to break big rocks theres no need for passive ones really
had to pay 180k for FLTR-XL. my game decided to lose them
but 20% isn't big unless you're on mole or you do prospector with 2 rocks that are 15% each
Stopped using it, would definitely squeeze for my prospect but anything over 32 I can 99.99% or those over 20 get pretty much all of it
I usually do a Mole run from time to time, my average is usually 40-60scu of quant.
I do miss how quick n easy the prospector make things though
But it sucks when you hit that 40% 7000+mass rock in the prospector, feels bad to leave stuff behind :p
Is mole even worth for solo
Depends on how you play I guess
Prospector will do just fine, but if you want to squeeze out a bit extra the Mole can do way more
Can have 3x mining head setups etc
the timer though
You just crack everything before you start scooping, not a big issue
Also I feel like you can't really fill it, only about half
You can do a 96scu quant run solo if you want, just depends on the cluster luck
I had bug when I had to scan the rocks again which took time
idk if the game can handle that many rocks at the same time lol
Ye, noticed that. Seem to lose scan data from time to time
But you can kinda tell what type of rock it is by just looking at the greenzone
Usually get that before the actual info pops up
Most of the quant rocks are like aluminum, quartz etc
So a rock shard with quant in it will almost always have a tiny greenzone
And with a Mole you dont have to be that selective on what you scoop up, unless you hit the jackpot
Mole has some bug too
Now that is true :p
I mean when you start to extract stuff
when time is crucial lol
Not sure how they managed to mess it up this bad. It used to be better in early 2020
Plenty of time to scoop up 96 scu and fly to the refinery
You can even set up a Helix as your main extractor
Like get impoujded? lol how is that even possible, coz they turn to inert
I get impounded just by landing on designated area lol
yeah I saw a mole, I was like whoa
Big box inside the hangar with a hitbox, blocking your ship if you're trying to land, or blows your ship up when you spawn it
didn't knew it was that massive
Well, thats a Carrack, but the Mole is also pretty big
Part of me feels that the Mole should have had more space than 96 scu
But in practice its not that bad
Spending hours mining just to have a 30k feels pretty bad, so going back more regularly to drop off ore isnt a bad idea
Still deciding which cargo ship too, they are too wide or too long lol
Depends on what size you want I guess
mining or looking for the right rocks? I take hours to find one that is over 20% lol
You know how to scan for clusters right?
nope
crap I'm missing a core mechanic lol
You need to narrow down the ping angle, that way you can tell if the rocks 10+km away is a single rock or a cluster
I literally just started mining 3/4 days ago
Howdy Folks! 18 months after my first vid and we're on to the third edition of the Quant Mining Guide. I know it's a long one but I've tried to be as comprehensive as I can putting this together to teach you everything you need to know about making the big bucks mining the red stuff!
A big thank you to Anorii for providing the wonderful backin...
timestamped
tbh I was confused when i get result at 4k and 5k distance lol
You probably have to bind the keys for it. Ping angle is different from the scan angle you adjust with the mousewheel
Also, Lyria clusters are 100% quant rocks
Like, guaranteed to be quant, not actual 100% quant in the rocks :p
Yeah, tiny moon so its np
No wind either
Prospector can switch to hovermode anyways
I feel like the belt is a bit bugged
Yeah, I prefer planetary mining
Its not that bad. You just use a bit more hydrogen
Just started mining so prospector was more reachable than mole
will need a cargo ship too
Prospector is a great moneymaker
And you dont need a massive ship to haul the ore back to the cities
or well, refined stuff
Might even be able to rent one every now and then to get going
id like surge though
I have tons on refinery though
Just means you have to do some extra trips :p
will take a few trips with a const
yup
also sort of insurance
I don't blow everything up
Yea, that would suck
Are the prices on this site, accurate? https://sc-trade.tools/trade-routes
I just landed into one of the outpost and the price is higher than what was listed
Their mostly accurate. You can only really get accurate data if people go to buy stuff and then report what the prices are, because data skimming wont work as the prices are now able to fluctuate
cheers for all the tips
UEX is also a pretty good site
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
Thanks, I thought the prices are fixed. I guess it is fixed only for selling ore.
You can also set up and record your refinery orders on the UEX site and get irl notifications when refinery orders are done and ready to collect 😄
oh, cool
Np! That video is solid if you got time on your hands.
That's the one I watched lol
For example
so I can make the most out of my rent too kinda
Myeah, you dont have to cash out every day.
ok, thanks, does the price change on daily basis or something? I was trying to do trade
So when trading irl, if you buy a lot of something, the price will normally go up almost straight away. In SC, it does fluctuate on purchase
If I buy 300SCU of Gold, then the price of gold fromt hat 1 purchase might bearly move
found a 9 cluster lol
I wouldn't have before
But if 200 people buy 300SCU of gold,t hen suddenly the price of it goes wacky
That's what's happening with laranite rn
ok, thanks, I was trying to do Laranite trade
Yh, Laranite is supposed to be the highest profit commodity for the smallser SCU ships. What's the largest cargo capable ship you have?
But all the ore we are trying to sell from mining are all fixed, or does that change as well? ore / minerals?
I am doing it in Titan with 80 SCU, but I was just trying out until I get a bigger ship
👀
I am glad I tried it, otherwise, I would have believed that all the prices are fixed just the quantity buy/sell changes
Uhh, bro.....Titan has 8 SCU
Yh, I wouldn't really bother using the Titan for generic cargo
Yeah, I was just trying out
At that SCU size your better dipping your toes into drug running
Maybe I will get my hands on freelancer soon
Just be careful, buying drugs is easy, selling drugs is a different matter
I thought about renting freelancer and start trading, but if the price is unknown, hard to know if I can make enough profits to make it worth it
ok, at one point, an outpost was shooting at me when I tried to land on it
Price isn't unknown, you just have to think of it as not a pixed price but a range
I was going to buy drugs
That's not an outpost then, that's a bunker
No outposts/trade locations have guns
Where were you?
pretty sure that's a combat bunker, not a trade outpost
lemme search real quick
Ok, the location is actually a trade post, but you probably got shot at by players or AI pirate ships, not turrets
I did not see any ships though
blue or red triangle things
It was possible that it was a bugged at that time
maybe I will go and check
because that might be profitable for my shiop
So, even if buy C2, if I keep doing those trades, the price will narrow and profit will not be much, right?
There is the link for Avenger titan doing vice
Dont forget, the prices might not be exact, but it's a good start.
ok
For some reason, UEX doesn't have VICE in it's system
And no, once you start dealing with ships 120SCU and larger, you wanna start looking at a more bulk buy solution. This is where my 1st and 2nd rules come into balance. You need to weigh up if getting 40 SCU of laranite is worth more than filling your ship with a smaller profit margin material, and lemme tell you, for most of the commodities, it's not
ok
Does the mole has vtol?
is vtol useful on prospector when surface mining? I feel like it coupled could handle it
It does. Currently all ships can actually fly flat or even inverted with their manuvering thrusters
Having vtol down can help you take off a bit faster int he vertical way though
What is currently The mining head setup for Prospector quant and basic mining?
Personally, Lancet I mining head with 2x Reiger C3 and 1x Vaux C3
Passive modules so they dont run out (can still be lost if the ship is claimed though)
Cracks anything below 5.6k mass
I know some others prefer to run Stampeeds and Brants though
Is Lancet a must? does the default mining laser just take longer to crack or it is not possible at all with default mining laser?
It helps increate the stability and optimal zone of the rock wich is kinda useful for quant
You can crack quant rocks with the stock/rented prospector, but your gonna have a...fun time trying to do so
So, default mining laser is possible, it's just it might take a lot longer time?
mainly when keeping the ship on air with gravity still
Ehh, don't really need it, but it can look pretty cool
Thanks. Seems I am not completely brain-dead yet, had that exact srtup 👍
I haven't tried any big ships so idk how vtol perform
since most small can hover fine without vtol
Oh, and get you out of explosive distance if needed as well 😄
Exactly. Takes a little longer and is a lot more sketchy as it's cracking quant with a much smaller optimal zone
ok, I am thinking of set up so that if I die, I wouldn't care since I do not have expensive modules
Like, I might be in the middle of the mining and suddenly I have to go afk
Then dont do that
Mining needs a dedicated amount of time. Clear your schedual for the next 15-20 mins, because you will need it
Obvs if your just out scouting with no cargo on you, go for it. Maybe set up a macro key to press Q or E every couple of mins, then if you have to go afk, get out of your seat, go prone in the rear compartment and then set off the macro and start rolling over while afk 😄
It's the first macro I set up on my keygoard, and I friggin love it 😄
ok, thanks
is there an idle timeout?
Yup. I think it's 20 mins?
I am looking at a rock with green spots all over the rock, which mineral is this?
Might be less
Green sounds like copper. You wanna look for the orange stripes for quant
Wait, big rock or little rock?
Wala has the un-minable green rocks everywhere, it's unfortunatly just a part of the terrain
Going to Lyria now
I would love it if we were able to harvest it and try to sell 😄
ok
Any one can guide us how to do mining :p
Howdy Folks! 18 months after my first vid and we're on to the third edition of the Quant Mining Guide. I know it's a long one but I've tried to be as comprehensive as I can putting this together to teach you everything you need to know about making the big bucks mining the red stuff!
A big thank you to Anorii for providing the wonderful backin...
I'm assuming any rocks that are under the surface are not extractable?
like some sort of tax
Not if you buy the right drugs and sell them to the right location
Reclamation and disposal orinth on hurston buys Etam and neon pretty reliably, I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait to sell 10SCU of either drug there
anyone?
That's exactly what I'm talking about. I was trying to say dont buy too much or you will have to wait ages to try and sell it. You can buy like 40SCU of drugs, but not many places let you sell more than 4-5 SCU to them
If the rock is completly under the ground but you can still detect/scan it, try getting your laser on it, you might still be able to crack it. Otherwise, no, you wont be abel to get at it
Ok, my bad
Nah, s'all good 😄
What are people's thoughts on the Spirit C1? The tractor is nice, and it's got decent firepower, but a Freelancer MAX will fit way more cargo and a Cutlass Black fits slightly less cargo but has a turret AND a tractor. I have a C2 and a Genesis (as well as a Hull B and Crusader Star Runner for smaller scale gameplay) but I'm considering if maybe the C1 or the E1 might be nice additions to a mostly soloable fleet
Follow-up; the E1 doesn't really have a competitor, does it? I guess technically the 600i Touring and the Constellation Phoenix will be able to do passenger/VIP missions, but those are both much larger and very different ships. The Star Runner certainly has room for passengers, so maybe?
Meanwhile, the C1 goes up against the Cutlass Black, the Freelancer (and the Max), the RAFT, and the Hull (less so since the C1 is internal cargo). Any others I missed?
C1 isn't going against Raft and Hull since those too are very cargo focused when cutlass/C1 are multiroles
The C1 is multirole? Is that mostly because it can carry a vehicle or something else?
Yes, C1 is a direct competitor to the cutty and FL
The Cutlass Black is the "Swiss Army Knife" of Star Citizen. Good at everything, great at nothing.
The C1 will about the same size as those two ships
Notice the loaner ships for the Spirit class are all Cutlass variants
Excited about the prospects of VIP game play, the Spirit E1 makes it easy to jump in that loop without having to buy a Connie, 600i, or 890 Jump
What VIP game play?
Or the passenger ship ... Genesis Starliner
How do i get rid of the inert materials i've picked up? presuming its useless
VIP game play is a LONG WAYS off, but it is were you transport VIPs and NPCS
Only when you refine it, the inert can be filtered out with an attachment but it slows the harvest down
says i have 399 but when i hit work order i can't refine it
so not sure what to do with it
When you submit the work order the inert is removed
oh ok, thanks
Yeah, that's absolutely fair. And the 600i Touring is definitely much larger than the E1. I'm leaning towards the C1 over the E1 because I already have both the 600i Touring and the Genesis for passenger/VIP stuff, and I don't really have a small-ish cargo ship other than the Hull B which is obviously all external cargo. I like the Freelancer MAX in theory, but hate the cockpit design and I'm hopeful that the C1 will look more like the MSR, if that makes sense. But 48 SCU of cargo is not a lot... Just not quite sure where it fits in, currently over something like the MSR or Constellation Aquila, both of which I have
Maybe I just need to wait until IAE, see what this new rumoured Drake ship is. I am leaning more towards smaller, single person craft these days; all of the large ships I have were pretty early pledges, and it's looking less and less likely that I'll ever really get to use them to their full extent
Corsair ship looks good!
I was a little too hyped by the Spirit and picked up the C1 and E1 and a CCU for the A1. I also plan to get a CCU to the 600i Explorer because I feel it will be a beast of a ship with the refactor. The E1 allows me to play VIP courier without the over the top expense. I have the HULL C and look forward to real trade, but that will be a long ways off too. The MAX is one of my favorites and no one does ROC duty better (valkyrie is also really good, close second).
I paid off my credit card and have her sitting on standby for IAE, LOL
it might be ugly
Hehe, fair. Can the Nomad hold a ROC, incidentally?
yes, but you have to back it in
Valkyrie better than MAX for ROC mining if you ignore the cost due to stronger scanner
Cost is the Key. The MAX's hydrogen scoops are best in industry, I never have to refuel not matter how long I mine
But do love the Valk
Carrack better than all of them tho, stronger scanner and med bed to regen in
I sort of like the footprint of the MAX over the Carrack though, LOL
Just keep the carrack floating and mine out the front door, using a DS of course for the longer range
Not a bad idea but I really love going out on the planet surface with the ROC. That game play loop is actually my favorite in the game, I don't do much because of the lack of protection for harvested gems (less moving it to ship and you happen to be in ship when game craps out)
Between the Hull B, Expanse, Prospector, and Reliant Sen, I already have 4 MISC ships. The Freelancer MAX is probably my favourite ship in theory of the smaller cargo craft, I just can't get over that dumb internal layout. Here's hoping it'll get a rework, since none of the metrics work internally for NPC pathing for example
And the cockpit visibility... Man, I wish they'd give the Freelancer the bubble cockpit view of the Prospector, it's so nice to actually be able to SEE space...
Freelancer is definitely overdue for an update but that's probably at least a few years off, they don't make money from reworking existing ships
I had the MAX but CCU'd to the Taurus when it was so cheap. I buy one in game first thing after every reset though
Rework could generate revenue if they promoted it right
I think it will for the 600i
Is 600i rework coming in 3.17.4?
I do like the Taurus. I wonder if the size difference between FL MAX (allegedly still Medium size) and Taurus (Large?) will ever become impactful
600i rework is a much bigger change than what the Freelancers will get though, in all likelihood, since it's adding functionality the ship doesn't already have
Carry a Tonk? That's crazy, LOL
Yeah, Freelancers just need to be jiggled a bit to fit components and have enough space for NPCs to actually function
"Just" 😄
Maybe the C1 IS the better option. While it does have less cargo than something like the Freelancer, it will have a tractor which will eventually make a difference once Cargo Refactor happens
I wonder if the ramp will be better laid out for the ROC over the cutty and FL
You think the C1 will fit a ROC? So far all they've talked about is the... whatchamacall it, the smaller buggy thing
it will fail as an offering (IMO) if it doesn't
Cyclone, which is slightly larger wheelbase than the ROC, but not as tall--so if they pull a 400i and forget about the height it's possible the ROC won't fit
and absolutely agree, if it can't fit a ROC it'll be pretty much strictly worse than a Cutlass
They do claim to be on the road to resolving the 400i issue also
Aaah, that makes sense
Obvious solution: move the top-mounted lights on the ROC down to the front top of the cab instead
that would make too much sense, please don't venture into that area
In that case, I think I'll keep my Cutlass to C1 CCU. It's only a few bucks, and I do like the way it looks. While the Freelancer or the Freelancer MAX will carry more cargo, I probably will enjoy flying the Spirit more 😄 Besides, if I really want to carry cargo I can always use a Caterpillar or C2
C2 is such a fun ship
That new Xi'an flightsuit looks sick too ... excited to have it for subscriber flair this month (if rumors are to be believed)
C2 needs to be a lot less fun imo, it flies more like a fighter than a heavy cargo ship
It’s that crusader engineering magic
Crusader designs their ships around in atmospheric flight and good handling.
Its pretty agile for a ship its size
That's fine, but there's also the game balance considerations, and right now the C2 is better in every category than the Caterpillar, and that doesn't make for healthy game balance
The Caterpillar is planned to be modular and is quite a bit cheaper on the pledge store. In game, the price difference doesnt make sense though.
Purchase price can't be a balancing factor between "option A" and "option B which is just better than option A in all ways"
Why not? We have the Freelancer as the cheap cargo ship, the Taurus as the next step up, the Caterpillar, the C2, then the big Hull series 🤷
The thing is there’s no point to having the caterpillar as a stepping stone in between the taurus and the C2 rn
Once modularity is implemented for the Caterpillar, I think it will really shine.
I have the same concern about Corsair. Corsair can fit Ursa, but ROC has higher height than Ursa.
Have you seen the pictures though? Corsair's rear bay is big
But the Taurus has disadvantages over the Freelancer (less maneuverable), and then the Caterpillar even more so
Corsair will 100% fit an ROC, there’s no way it can’t
I think it would. Just not 100% sure. I hope to rent out Corsair in IAE and check this out.
Price can be a balancing factor if it's relevant long term (e.g., more expensive ships have more expensive insurance or something), but up-front purchase price isn't
I am hoping to get LTI with warbond, if I go with Corsair
Will the Corsair be immediately available during IAE?
Not always afaik, but you can also save more money by chaining discount warbond CCUs
I see. SO, I get STV with LTI and wait for the chaining discount CCU to be available?
You buy a warbond STV now, and then when the Corsair goes up for sale, you CCU the STV to a Corsair
Ok, thanks
Is Corsair pledge price expected to go up, since it is going to be available in the next path?
ok
what is the best material when you go mining in space
Here is a nice little info page for mining. https://redmonstergaming.com/mining-cheat-sheets/
Quantainium is what people tend to go after for those big big bucks
If you want one that stays up-to-date 😉

Quantanium has a timer once you pick it up after 15 minutes it explodes
