How do you see your current rank?
ohhhh boyyy
Ah. Yeah, I've had problems with that as well, coming in for a landing, game crashes, and it kills me and destroys the ship. There's a bit of a lag during the time when your game crashes, and the servers realize you're gone, so that gives time for you to plow into the surface.
By chance do you play with clouds on?
Yeah, ill probably have to turn it off
It's all in #rules_and_information The ranks aren't automatic, you have to apply for them.
That's what I did. Once I turned clouds off, I stopped crashing when flying in for landings. Well, the game stopped crashing.
No, ROCs don't have 30k protection
In order to be safe from 30ks when ROC mining, you need to transfer the gems to your ship storage after every cluster
One at a freaking time right?
Yup
Yep, although you can set up a Voice Attack or AutoHotkey macro for it
do investigation missions get more interesting as you progress or are they the same patterns and locations everytime?
Folks, someone just told me there might be a bug when attempting to create 2 SCU containers, that you shouldn't self-destruct the ship while doing it? Is that accurate? should i be blowing up my own ship with another rather than self destruct? I ask this as my previous attempts with like 6 heavy backpacks and even size 5 missiles have all just gotten me 1 SCU containers, via self destruct.
Oh, I always use another ship to blow it up.
My preferred method is to actually take the ship you want to put the box in to a mining depot. Retrieve a rover/cyclone, put Pembroke in ground vehicle. Drive 400meters to outside armistice. Run back and grab ship, destroy ground vehicle and beam the 2scu into ship I want it in
can you make a 2 SCU box by blowing up a vehicle instead of your ship?
then just tractor beam box into ship?
You can make 1 SCU boxes with ground vehicles, so I would assume you can do the same with 2 SCU boxes
What determines if you get a 1 SCU box or a 2 SCU box? Do you need to have enough in the vehicle you're destroying that it won't fit in 1 SCU to get a 2 SCU box?
I don’t know the exact answer but I know a novikov suit will 100% of the time spawn a 2scu box
hurl1 has both surge and stampede modules in refinery store. also has brandt if i remember right
yes, do it with spartan or with centurion. fill em up to max
its literally the amount of inventory space used by items. if you have 1,000cSCU of space taken up by items in vehicle inventory that s 1SCU
2 questions guys; How to tell apart gems from hand mineables and where to go for best hadanite drops in the roc. Thanks! :)
- Point your multi tool at it
- Aberdeen is good
On 1, there might be a colour difference, but I'm colour blind, so doesn't register
If your scouting, hand minables will first show up at like 500m on your ships pings. Any box that shows up further than that is either a roc mineable or ship mineable
Hadanite has a pinkish color, when I search with a ship and find a cluster, I normally just zoom in and look at the color of the rock veins instead of trying the scan.
Aberdeen requires the Pembroke armor but the planet is the best location for hadanite in Stanton system.
One trick to always be in the daylight mining is to QT to orbital marker OM-1. This marker is on the north axis of the planet. It is always daylight under this marker. Be careful when you dive down to the surface! Watch the altimeter and make sure you do not lawndart on the surface
One time the altimeter wasn't working, I think I hit the surface hard enough to shift the orbit of the moon slightly.
Just keep pinging.... You'll see the ground.... I find it better to peel up as I get closer so I have time to pull up if I'm coming in too hot...
I drive a potato though, but damn if its not a capable roc taxi
I was in the MAX, it was a "big girl impact"
Lukily I have the Cutty B. So my VTOLS are good and preventing me from dying. Or good ol' twist and burn
But thanks guys. I've done some in the past, roc mining and know about the colouration and Pembroke (though I can only find info saying it's obtainable but stations now?) But was hoping there was another way to tell roc drops oli
Thanks for all the info everyone! Much obliged :)
You can get the Pembroke at any of the refinery stores.
finder.cstone.space is a fantastic finder for all things SC also
Looking for someone with the highest rep of delivery missions for some talk
Pls mp if you do
What's up? You can ask your questions here.
its for smt purely personal and experimental
What’s the best ore to mine (other than quant), and what’s the best place to find it?
Bexalite, it's half the value of Quant and there's no good way to find it in large quantities. Quant is the only ore worth mining right now, and it's easier to find in large quantities too
The caveat to that is "worth it" is up to the individual.
If you're after pure profit over everything else, go quant.
If you want to relax and just mine and making cash is a nice bonus, go for bexalite.
Yeah
I’m saving for a cat, and I’ve been doing combat device beacons which pay well, but they’re fairly repetitive. figured I’d try mining with a rented prospector tonight, just for fun, and try to make some money doing it
errrrr.....15 contacts so far....no scannable asteroids....am I missing something?
18 now
nope, that's the halo nowadays. Can try switching server or getting out of the pilot seat and back in
Note that if you're scanning in mining mode (which you should be), can reduce angle of ping with , and . keys, then ping again at a contact to see what asteroid type it is--if it shows up blank, it's unscannable, just move on
yeah...angle's already reduced...I'll try the chair thing....
Unfortunately a rented prospector really isn't worth it. You can technically do quantanium with it if you fiddle with gadgets as well, but it's not worth the hassle.
If you're only able to rent, renting a ROC (and something to carry with it) will get you around the same amount of income as a rented Prospector.
Also, out of curiosity...why a cat instead of a c2? Current version of the game, the caterpillar has no advantages over the C2 and a lot of disadvantages. That might change with the cargo refactor, but there will be a wipe before then so buying in-game there's no reason to go Cat over C2
pirate boat
funny pirate
The Cat is just a cooler ship. 😁
I just like the cat more than the C2
C2 is great, but it just isn’t my thing. I don’t like the computer voice, and it feels extremely hollow (which makes sense but still)
I've had a C2 before, hated that ship. The cargo capacity is the only reason I bought it.
Mmm
Also all the caterpillar wrecks I’ve been exploring have made me want to get one of my own lol
Proud Caterpillar owner.
I just need 2mil more and it’ll be mine
I'm going to be swapping mine though, my current one is getting upgraded to an Endeavor, and then I'll get the pirate Cat to replace it.
Nice
Where do y'all suggest Quant mining
I usually go Lyria but stg I ain't finding dick
I'm finding like 1000000 ROC minables for whatever reason (which is wierd coz normally I can't find those) but like
almost 0 quant deposits which is just weird AF. I'm used to not finding good quant (2-5%) but it's weird not finding any at all
Lyria
Yeah that's where I'm at
Easy to spot quant because you can look for clusters which are always quant on lyria
If you're not finding anything, switch servers
The scanners in prospectors are designed for mining nodes.... Usually ROC mining is in a hauling ship...
This is true...
If you can twin up with a buddy, you can clean house.
The deposits on Lyria for the ROC would not have been hadanite for the most part.
It probably was dolivine which is worthless considering
True, but there was like... Gems eeeeeeeeeverywhere xD
Even if it's dolivine there was 10000s of them stg
Mining dolivine is a total pain, it's unstable and harder to crack compared. Sadly, we need 30k protection for the ROC terribly
But, load her up and crack some gems!!
not only is it harder to mine, it's the least valuable of the gems by far
Aphorite is less valuable than hadanite but at least it's easy to mine
Hey, what module should i get for my prospector? I'm starting out with mining
By "module" do you mean "mining laser head" or the modules that are installed in the mining laser?
The actual module, i got a MH1 head
Depends on where you're mining.
Aaron halo: Doesn't matter, bring whatever you want, you don't need modules
Lyria: Bring at least 1 surge and at least 1 stampede, 3rd can be surge/optimum/brandt depending on preference. I use a second surge.
Note that you can't have multiple active modules running simultaneously
I took in roughly 12scu of Agricium and taranite, and then I went to draw in from another rock, and everything in my hold transformed into inert materials. Is there some gimmick?
Visual bug that happens sometimes
I just looked it up, I still have my agr and tar?
Yes, and they'll show up correctly in the refinery
it should show up when you set the refinery job (as a rule). The conversion to inert is usually contained to the HUD showing that, not what is actually in the ship's bags.
yeah, I found it
not a fun bug but not the worst either. Watching 32 SCU of Quantainium turn to inert is a little disheartening even when you know it is still there
doncha hate when you accidentally click on the wrong rock and leave just .2 scu shy of a perfect quant filled prossy :/?
Did server just go down
There isn't just one server...there are lots of servers. It's possible that the server you were on crashed
was able to get my cat today with a generous donation from a stranger in chat :)
Can’t wait to outfit it tomorrow and do some cargo hauling
So.... We're calling it a Prossy....
But that just sounds like another word got lady of the night.....
I can't tell my wife I'm spending the evening filling up a Prossy......
Im really sad people,
I love minning and hauling and checking sheets and seeing graphs,
I like farming, industrialization and i love space
But im thoroughly dissapointed in minning with the roc. As an Upgrades! enjoyer going by hand is too little profit and too slow.
Buying a prossie is too expensive for me
Then i tried the roc... and i liked it!
Then 30k makes me loose everything in the ROC, this happened 5 times already, every time i try to time, not even 15 minutes into the trip.
I think ill bite the bullet and go for rented prospector, as ship inventory persists, or switch carreers.
The rental can make decent coin, your goal is volume and anything above agricium in value
Choose dinyx method, stack as may jobs as you can. You’ll need to rent a cargo ship later. The Cutlass Black will be the cheapest. Also, renting from one of the new stations seems to be the cheapest
I am trying this Voice Attack app. and if successful will allow quick transfer of the gems to say a Molokov backpack. So every 2-3 gems transfer from the Roc cargo box to your backpack.
So any tips on quant mining can find the rocks but i tend to blow most of the time any modules to recommend? I use the lancelot mining head for prospector
Blow as in you blow up, or blow as I'm "I really blow at this"?
I know I really blow at that Quant mining and well practice makes perfect. You could switch to mining the green Taranite on Wala. Easy to mine with a high payout. For modules I use a double surge and a inert reduction module.
SLAM sale pretty cool a 78K output for 106K over 5 sales. Not practical but neat for a change.
Just got a Pirate Caterpillar filled it up to the max with medical supplies and realized these stations only takes small amounts of it at a time. Then couldn't store my ship for some reason and lost 500k in cargo last night.
Is there any resource that indicates formulas we can use to determine if a setup cannot actually crack a sufficiently resistant rock?
I think hadanite or whatever you decide to mine with the roc should persist if it’s inside your ship instead of the roc inventory. You could set up a voice attack macro to move your inventory. It’s free and really useful, might need a solution to your problem.
Or is this just something we feel as a combination of resistence and stability
Gotta sell it at cities, they take a lot more at a time than stations
Cargo running is arguably the riskiest business at the moment. The blockade event is a really profitable hauling evolution but outside that it can be tough
The best method of moving goods for profit is Titanium from any major Titanium source that has a little icing on the cake (Laranite, Agricium). The Titanium actually has nearly the same profit per SCU density as Laranite due to the total higher margin at a lower cost. Laranite is slightly better. Medical Supply exchange are tedious even for the largest ships.
And Laranite is only so close because the supply is always dried up, so they sell for more (background system), and you get less per SCU profit.
I had to haul out that SLAM because I wanted to go ROC mining but had a crash to desktop flying down to Daymar. But the game recovered the cargo in the ship and I was finally able to sell it off. Would be cool to have a second Cutty get it filled with SLAM (a chore) but once at CRUL5 you just sell off it as needed. (Hanger concept) Thoughts???
You should of sold it at the TDD terminal at NBIS. Or the other major cities.
I didn't know it would take that long to get rid of. Website said 9 min. Boy did I understand that wrong.
I feel you Pappy...
I gave my 1 mil last patch bonus to a buddy to buy his prosp.... He upgraded to mine quant and I used a rental. If you find the right buddy, you could make some...
Alternatively, you could find a few gadgets....
Maybe a stabilisation one.... And a resistance one.... Slap that on a fatty boy and use a rental....
I'm not sure about the mix there.
I have and use Voice attack, the problem is that everytime i drop for the FIRST group of rocks to mine i get 30ked before i finish, i don't get the chance to return to my ship!
ships seem to be
the vehicles arent
had 30ks and ship had all it used to + it didnt need claim time! it was allowed to retrieve on all stations i went to somehow
I'd be mining in the ROC just about most of the time if it had 30k protection
PES won't be so that useful, imo, until they develop the method to get back on your server
Unless you recover to the same server, PES is just a background service
Maybe we just use the buddy system...
Find a rando, make a group.... Even then..... That won't help server errors....
Because it affects the whole server.....
anyone up for mining now?
Cargo running is frustrating. Everytime I go somewhere to sell that place doesn't take it and have to wait for server tick or respawn to different region
Always sell at city trade centres
I'm at lorville trying to sell titanium and they won't take it no matter what server I switch to
You’re selling it at the right place right?
The admin office
Lorville, buy scrap
Hurston Reclamation Place sell scrap
Stanthorpe buy something.... Titanium....
Lorvile Business District
What tf. Where is that?
I'll be running this for a bit
Got off the tube from Teasa, don't turn right to metro centre, run to the other
As newbie I want to rent prospector. I think that rented vehicles cannot modified. It is viable to mine quant with stock prospector? Or maybe better something else in terms of uec/h?
Can’t mine quant with a stock prospector without using gadgets, which isn’t worth it
Quant in a rental is near impossible.... Just go out there and mine other things.... Jsuy go for the highest other you can get.... Do as many runs are you can...fill up fast, sell ore for fast cash..... Or fill up those work orders....
Get as many as you can get...
I'm just catching the next train and hope it's to where I need to go
It should tell you over the tannoy....
Tanoy?...
Loud speakers...
Yup
Planet or space minig? Does ore even matter?
Take the train back to the metro center, and turn right to go to the business district train instead of turning left to go into the metro center
Planet has bigger rocks.... The Halo has alot of unscannable rocks....
Every planet or moon has its own cocktail of ores.... There are articles about what rock names give what ores...obsidian is one I was aiming for..... Can't remember for what though...
With the state of the Halo and space mining, I've not tried it for a long while.
Curse you Lorville. I see no sign anywhere for a central business district
Where are you now?
I see a sign. Let me follow it
Maybe because it was my first starting city, but I think Lorvile is my favour.
Orison and New Babbage I know well. I don't know anything about Lorville and Area 18
Only one I don’t know decently well is orison
I went to Orison once for the Expo.... Im still trying to get out of atmo
I'm at some giant mega structure. Just going to run until I find it
Aah.. Up the steps... Turn 180.....rocky pose...... Then go to Transfers on the left..
HDD Showcase is weapons.
I'm truly invested here...
What did you fill with Titanium..
If its anything smaller than 100 scu... Lie and tell us it was an A2
That name sounds like they’re having a convention for hard drives
Or whatever smeggy Hercules is the tasty for hauling...
I'm in a room that looks like I'm on wallstreet
Aaah yeah....
C2 is best for hauling
Does any specific to delivery discord exists ?
That's trading babyyyyyy
Like a server entirely about box delivery missions?
yh
Dunno
ik the topic is very small but still
Yeah
Since it’s just one game loop, I’d be surprised if someone made a whole sever about it
cause im looking for a max rep delivery guy but u dont find them as easy as max bounty guys
true
Ask in #looking-for-session , I’m sure someone has a max rep delivery mission
Alright made 100k profit. Now I know the route I may recoup my 550k loss from last night in np time
Nice nice
Nice work! What did you buy and in what?
Titanium in something like a C2 or caterpillar I assume
I'm in a pirate caterpillar
If resistance, penetration, and power are all expected relations, then I have calculated resistance needs to be over about .61 for Lancet to perform better than the Impact.
oh right might be interesting to try this
and then consider other factors from there
Should be able to make some easy money on Arc Corp. I just hit all the facilities there with the C2 and make around 200k or so per trip doing laranite, titanium ,and diamond
Melted my eclipse for a pirate caterpillar since an eclipse isn't expensive to buy in uec
Nice.... I'm in a peasant hauler....
so you do trips just between facilities selling and buying
I really wanted the matching caterpillar and gladius combo. At least I have both pirate ships now
It's what I'll be doing at Lorville... But in a Taurus, I'm not hitting the profits others are.
what about the pirate cutlass?
yeah. Buy out any of those three that are available, or on Lyria, then fly back to A18 and sell it all.
ok trying that asap
Never heard of it. I don't want a cutlass anyway. The red one is ok looking
Easy, pretty low risk, and decently quick. I can do one of those runs in sub-45 minutes or so typically.
Depending on how much is available at the places I go.
I guess its not a true pirate version, just the skull and crossbones paint
Got a nice route from Arial to lorville.
What is it?
Titanium and laranite. But definitely titanium
Can't you buy titanium from a Hurston mining depot?
Idk I'm new to cargo running
It's not what it could be....
Everywhere pretty much sells and buys for the same price based on what they are....
Mining depots... Cities.....
Not to the dime, but ball park.
You might make more with a really specific route and a big ship.... But the extra flying means you're making less than quick routes.
I understand just got to figure it all out
Yeah..... Just be wary... I lost almost 1 million when they gave us a Carrack.... The ship wasn't stored properly at Lorville, 500k...and 300k client crash seconds after I bought it.
I already lost 500k last night it wouldnt store properly
Sucks..
What's cargo refactoring?
They are going to change how cargo works
They need to for salvage
There might be a cost to loading ships
Or DIY
I can see why. Bounty hunting was easy. This is hard
With this I hope they address the selling and buying to make it worth while
Yup. Risking 600k to make 100k is dangerous
They add ship armor I'd have enough time to spool quantum and escape
I'm a pirate caterpillar. I'll probably do the targeting. Being part of a gang of pirates and all the cargo goes on my ship.
Dirty turncoat!....
Still..... Makes the game..
Otherwise what's the point of the turrets on these big ships
I mean it is called a pirate caterpillar.
Be sure the ramps and elevators ARE FULLY CLOSED in the landing areas before you run off to the trade terminals. A pirate got on board my ship and I paid the 150K you big dummy fee and he let me go. I know there are different ways to get on a ship but if all they want is some bucks give it to them.
And since I have a pirate ship I feel it should have something installed that other ships won't have to make boarding easier
Isn't it just a paint job?
Like one of those phase matter things they use to jump around on Star Trek.
Some cloaked klingon tech would be nice
In the future if you run into this bug (ship in hangar but won't store, only offers claim) the workaround is to retrieve another ship you own. That will store the first one
That's a really good one...
Mine wasn't there to store, but to claim.... But there was no location
How does autoland work. Almost crashed my ship but swung it 90 degrees last second to perfectly land. Was a clutch landing.
If it doesn't show the location I'm not sure that trick will work
Still, a good one to have in your pocket....
I think I stored and ran from the terminal before confirming it.
Autoland doesn't work well in hangars in my experience. It wants your ship to be facing a specific direction before touching down, and will happily crash your ship to get to that facing. Autoland nearly killed a Freelancer MAX of mine full of Quant last patch
And vehicle maintenance is bugged. Can't repair my ship
Fly to a pad and try there.
Mining depots work sometimes.... I found that jumping from one station pad to another makes the services work.
Trying to figure out vtol. What does it even do. I know it's for landing and taking off
Not much..... Changes some of the upward thrust a bit.....
Depends on the ship, some ships don't have a vtol mode. Go to external view and see if anything rotates or opens
At most it will increase the available upwards thrust
I'll test it out next drop off
I use VTOL all the time on landing and taking off's. Set it way down in power. For landings and takeoff's use F4 and Z to align the ship to where you can see where you are going. For hanger take off's straight ahead I set it rear view just above the spine of the ship.
Owning a nice size ship feels better than I thought it would
It's satisfying to land them
if I get the "not docked recognize" bug at the console, and I just let it get impounded, will I still be able to sell the quant?
Impounding is known as "Ship Valet" so you should be fine....
When you have 3 minutes left of quant, 1 minute to impound and either a 15 minute wait or a 5k fine is a small pride.
the console is saying I need to claim
Ooooh... Not sure there....where does it say its stored?
Just wasted a whole run. Cargo didn't store and didn't notice until I got to transfer station.
Depends on the ship, some don't have it although you can toggle it on in the ship UI. But mainly what it is, is either rotating the main thrusters down to provide more upward lift, or opening additional thrusters that aren't always in use (like the Connies). Some ships are supposed to have VTOL that don't yet.
It's something that will become much more useful later when cargo has weight. Some ships simply won't be able to lift a full load of some materials if they don't have that extra thrust.
Sometimes I have to point my caterpillar up to get my landing gear to disengage
Would you say running cargo with a connie is a waste of time?
"Not docked recognize" bug? Do you mean Prospector or refined Quant?
If Prospector you shouldn't be landing in a hangar anyway, always impound
I docked my hercules, and someone tried to pad ram me with a pisces. Luckily it was a pisces and they just blew up. But it asked me to claim my herc at the kiosk. I went back, and checked, the repair/restock/refuel services were not available. I had to reland, I had to request to leave and request to dock again
If you’ve got a Taurus then you can make some money. The other Connie’s you can run cargo with, but it’s not nearly as good
Where can I bring my refined ore to sell once it’s finished?
If you're in a hangar and the terminal is asking you to claim, if the terminal lists your ship location as being on the pad/hangar you can retrieve a different ship and it will store that one

I don’t see on there where I go for selling the ores
And the site is glitching out on my phone
Commodities page
Is it worth cargoing in an a2
Not really no, A2 can just go do ERTs for a lot more money than hauling with it
Why always impound? Just to save the time or is there some bug right now which it avoids?
Try https://gallog.co also.

There are multiple bugs around it right now that impounding dodges--in addition to the one that Mr Sparkles: Casaba ACFO hit where the station doesn't realize you're landed, the big one a lot of people hit is having their quant go inert or explode shortly after landing. Impounding prevents that entirely
Cargo hauling truly is a rough life. Everytime I see a ship I'm paranoid. But im forever paranoid due eclipses being undetectable until missle lock
so is it worth using other rocks as practice since I keep blowing up myself with quantum
You can, but it's not really good practice.
I recommend that you just stop blowing yourself up. You're using a Lancet, right? That should be all the instability reduction you need, but if you need more you can use a Brandt active module
any modules worth using or can I get by just using the lancet?
If you're in the halo, you don't need modules, so you can use whatever you like. If you're having issues with instability, Brandt is good for that.
If you're on Lyria, you will run into rocks that will require a surge, and either a stampede or optimum
basically if there are two or more rocks its quant
Literally anywhere
ok
I mine on lyria I dont know where halo is
cause i only get a cluster / patch every 20 + mins...
or am i just bad
its random
It can take a while, yeah.
and not all custers are worth gathering it
yes only 25 +
I ONly go for 20 or more
What percentage is useful depends on the mass of the rock...a mass 2500 rock with 20% isn't useful, but a mass 7500 rock with 20% is
ayyy found a 32% rock
is there any other material thats worth mining exept quantanium ?
nice 30 K :)
Soooo... Starfarer... how decent do you think it'd be for a "daily industrial driver" type ship? Kinda slow, sure, but good cargo and vehicle space. I'm not sure where this wild hare up my ass came from but, I find myself really wanting a Starfarer.
That's fine, although note you won't be able to use the stampede at the same time as the brandt
291 SCU is not good, especially not for that price
True to a point, but the next step up would be the Carrack and then the dedicated heavy haulers.
(But I already have a C2 so that's why I'm considering this a wild hare situation lol)
But the Carrack and Starfarer are way more expensive than the Caterpillar/C2, so not really worth considering just for cargo
Yes, C2 is the best cargo ship currently by far, and it's not even close. A2 is only useful for bombing jumptown.
Yeah I bought a C2 on day one of the patch thanks to the stipend. I just have this really wierd idea of using the starfarer to haul a Mule around to run bunkers... or actually having it on standby with a tank or two for refueling people.
Dunno. Maybe I'm just getting into a "love the unloved" pattern. Love the Valkyrie though I never see anyone ever using it. Love the hornet and bucc although everyone says medium fighters are trash and to just go Gladius/Arrow...
And now out of the blue I've got this itch to work toward a Starfarer which is... perhaps one of the most despised ships in the verse for the interior alone if not other issues?
Maybe 'despised' might be too strong of a word...
I got completely lost in the Starfarer during ILW. It seems like the interior was designed to be a Star Marine map
Oh no doubt it was designed to be used as derelict fps maps lol
I hear a2 is good for combat?
If you have a crew it's great. If you're alone, probably better off with a Constellation.
A2's real speciality is bombing jumptown
"Probably better off with a Constellation" actually fits a lot of ships in the game, now that I think about it
I already have a constellation
currently have connie andromeda, gladious , nomad, arrow, and a prospector
A2 will not be better solo than a Constellation, I suspect
I sort of want somethign as dialy driver with better ramps
the connie is ... sort of cursed when it comes to vehicules
bucc and hornet are great
at least I like them anyway
looked at the c2 damn its much cheaper than the a2
And much better for cargo
jumping from a cutty to a cat is wild
Spend a couple weeks flying the Cat and everything will feel nimble.
lol
yeah I can tell already
doesn't help that apparently all drake ships just devour hydrogen fuel
Run the Cat down to 50% or 25% and then see how long it takes to fill.
Do gadgets disappear every time you use them?
It’s random, feels like they get destroyed about 20% of the time in my experience
are they supposed to stay on the rock while you blow it up?
Most of the time you can recover it after cracking
ok
No, it floats free
yes they stay on the rock while you're mining it, after cracking the rock they can sometimes fall off the chunk tho so be mindful of where you place it on the rock.
its time to haul some cargo
wheres the best place to mine quant
Aaron halo or lyria
With the best paint too.
yessir
anybody out there want to show a guy how to get into the mining game? i've tried cargo hauling and it hasnt been a smooth ride, looking to get my feet wet in the mining area.
Mining is just cargo hauling with extra steps. 😂
is there an optimal ground vehicle to use when trying to create 2 SCU containers? I've noticed the Ursa Rover only has 650k storage, so it can only really fit 1 pembroke undersuit and presumably wont make a 2 SCU container when the vehicle is destroyed.
love a good crash to desktop after I buy a full load
oh and now my friends list is broken again, awesome

spawned back in my ship, yay
still got all my cargo too
awesome
ah, but Im inside arial
very coolk
what should I do here?
exit to menu, bed log, backspace?
Go forward. Hope that when you break through the surface of the moon, you don't blow up. Used to, but the last couple times that's happened to me I was able to pop through.
Im not gonna make it outside the planet lol
The down side is, you're considered in atmo, and doing that in the Cat takes foreeeeevvvvveeeeerrrrrrrrrrr.
Im in the very center of it
I know.
Im gonna run out of fuel before I make it pretty sure
Eh, I don't know how much fuel it takes. I've done it twice in the Cat recently and didn't run out of fuel.
interesting
might as well try then, if I run out ill just bedlog and hope nothing bad happens
Why does this happen, i had it happen twice , once on arcorp and once on daymar
Bugs be bugs.

why does my quantanium turn to inert material
In some cases it's a fake report. Log into your refinery screen and process like normal. Let us know what happens.
Ok gotcha
If it happens while mining, it's just a display bug. If it shows up inert at the refinery, it's because you landed the ship when you were supposed to get valet parking by impounding
This microtech astatine route is complete trash. Was better off trucking titanium. Which I will be headed back to
What was trash about it?
The profit
it's about the same profit as titanium, or should be
Have to stop by 10 and 22 to get a full load and then I barely made profit. Doing a second run just to be sure
I think astatine takes up more cargo space than other ores like titanium, or maybe im thinking of agricium, one of the "A's" anyway
so while its good profit on paper, you end up being able to store more of other types of ores.
nah, astanine takes up a normal amount of room
I made 28k off of 251 cscu from mining facility 10
I blew up :/
Ship holds 564 scu so I would've had to stop at 22 to get close to a full load
bye bye 500K
I lost 500k last night trying to sell medical supplies
I lost 500K because the game crashed and spawned me inside Arial
thats enough SC for tonight
Does trading in this game work at all?
Not really....
You've seen the amount of 500ks have been lost
I have too.
There isn't much variation in buy and sell pricing to make it worth it. So no supply issues or overstocking to make any profit
Hmm, wish there was another use for my cargo ship
Get a Prosp, you'll need it to haul the refined materials
3.18 might have some more gameplay loops too
🙏, with cargo refactor that’s what I’m hoping. A way to turn a profit by hauling cargo while also including contracts for said cargo.
That's what I'm using it for lol
cargo missions would be great and would help open up trading options for smaller ships too
Spent 20 to 25 minutes each scouring Daymar and Magda with Cutty for gems only found one stray Dolivine. Must of been a bad spawn server. In desperation brought back a full load of diamonds for a $7,911.00 profit so 2.5 hours of time for $10,641.00 net profit. Damn Sam!
Yes, but it takes a little more knowledge than the "buy crap at point A and sell crap at point B" interaction. There are multiple runs that are available with good margin once you have enough aUEC and a big ship to carry it. Trade is skewed towards only the largest of haulers at this time.
By this time next year, it will be a different event and one might be able to make good coin with entry level craft like the RAFT, Hull A, B, etc
Jack Axton has a video made with 3.15(?) that is a re-introduction to trade basics. It is worth the watch. Takes you from beginning to end of the trade basics.
Trade will see a total revamp and also get reputation loops, etc
Yes it does, trading is pretty much all I do.
a good two step process is: medical run until you got over 80ish cargo, then just switch to a titanium spot that has an icing on the cake (agricium around crusder, laranite/agricium everywhere else).
be careful of the commodities you buy (i.e. Medical, slam, etc) because the system will let you buy as much as you want but the buyback is pathetic and will take days to offload
Sites like SC Trade Tools will give you a good insight to the uptake and demand.
So if you can figure out how to actually do it can you make good money? @north oyster
Trading really isn't difficult or complicated. Go here, buy, go there, sell. You just have to know what to go for and what to avoid.
Then why do alot pfnppl say it's complicated, how do I figure out what to get and what not to?
You can plan everything out with this.
All I do is fly back and forth between two places, my buy place, and my sell place. I get around 100k per run.
Pretty much comes down to which one you like using more. I prefer Trade Tools.
I've tried this but I don't think I understand it
Agreed! Even the smaller ships, who are more apt to move illicit cargo suffer due to available quantities at terminals
yeah the current state of "Just get a Cat or C2" to start trading is counter intuitive. Missions would help make more affordable options viable

Honestly Cargo should have had missions ages ago to go along with deliveries
it's really a decent loop too, if you managed to find a delivery route that lined up with a cargo run
so you'd run 2 contracts at a time between cargo and deliveries
Sad that chris really seems to care about combat
better rep opens up higher paying cargo contracts which require the use of larger boats
at which point you rent or buy if you have enough cash
which would be at the very least the real reason for buying acargo ship in the first place
Dont get me wrong i love combat but sometimes i want something relaxing
problem is combat is too lucrative
Technically it has. That's what box missions are. We just don't have traditional cargo missions yet.
Can anyone explain what I need to do on sc trade tools?
traditional cargo missions is what I was referring to. I'm aware that you can plan a trade run via box missions, but in terms of earning money towards a larger cargo ship there should be a flow that leads you to it
There will be. Eventually.
well duh lol. What I'm hoping for is that it's soon after 3.18 wit the refactor. then again how the refactor applies to cargo and any time to profit numbers is yet to be seen
The issue with profits right now is that some things simply pay way too much.
The main problem with mining is it's multiple jobs being done by one person right now. The way it'll likely work later, unless you actually own all the ships, is you'll mine, sell it to a refiner, who will then sell it to a hauler, who will then sell it to someone who will use it.
The alternative, being in an org that acts as a company that can do all those things itself.
I don't think that's much of an issue honestly. I mean sure with Refactor you probably could sell the stuff after you refine without actually having to haul it yourself. I have more of an issue with the price of quant and it's frequency compared to other "High value" ores
even if you do find Bexalite, Borase, tara, etc... their values are so consistently low it's laughable
Yeah, quant is meant to be a risk vs reward thing, but the risk really isn't there. At least not in Stanton.
agreed
liek I do see a lot more rocks with a lower % of quant
I think honestly that's a good move
but even in those rocks where the Qant % is <5%, the other high value ores are JUST as low
which should be the opposite really
Earning credits out of combat SHOULD be a grind IMO. Not an intense one, but it should take some time. Mining right now I can make a Mil a week with the barest of efforts
which is a bit too heavy honestly.
alll this being said, I know with Quanta and the Refactor the economy is going to look pretty different. But I just haven't seen much talk on these subjects.
Payouts for stuff change, I think they do it so they can shift what people are focusing on, so they can test different things. At one point combat was barely worth doing, because you could make far more running cargo (provided a 30k didn't do you in). It used to be more profitable to run box missions than do combat missions.
true, that makes sense
is there any reason to use Hofstede of klein mining laser heads?
Landing the Catipillar outside of the Commons at night was a milestone in my piloting and navigation skills. Can't believe I did it
I've made my 500k back plus some.
Omw to buy FR-86 shield generators for the P. Caterpillar
I've calculated, if you gotgud already with stability issues, utilizing boremax, Helix undisputed passive rock cracker, unless you got .952 resistence, then it's Impact. And then resistance has to be impossible number for Lancet, so it is better as a rapid surge cracker for umm, idk... but it's good thing to have.
So my new Mole setup is bring gadgets, Helix II with focus IIIs, Impact II with FLTR-XLs for just (most rocks), and then Surge Lancet for umm, also it's a good setup.
only have a prospector
I would meme your smol mining ship, but this isn't star-citizen
use lancet with surges
are passive modules worth it?
not on a prospector, maybe a stability one if you just apply 1 or 2 surges. but tbh lancet x3 surges just in case, if you're good already
besides surge I keep seeing brant and stampeed metioned
ew
Well yeah Stampede just pushes the green arc down faster so you don't need to maintain it as long.
Haven't been on for awhile. Can't remember if or what the work around was for the timer of Quan.
but lancet is such a stable laser, it's not necessary. really you just need surge so you can bring up the charge on rocks that take ages for any base model lasert to charge
and then when its at the green, you're in ez town because it's so stable lasering, you just hold it on a good % you feel out
stampede is just sweaty palm tryhard mario speed running
brandt + Surge + lifeline is good for newbie setup. But git-gud, use surge, ggez
Stampede is absolutely necessary on larger rocks. The laser won't have enough power on its own to hold in the green
What do you mean? You can't get around the 15 minute timer from when you start extracting. Fully break down the rock before you extract anything, and then head back to the refinery.
There are a few bugs currently around landing a Prospector in the hangar, so it's better to get impounded by floating in front of a closed hangar door without calling for landing
All of those numbers are somewhat meaningless since they only apply to non-quant. For Quant there are only two real choices due to the high instability
not entirely useless, I've come across 25+ laranite 25+ bex combos that required high resistance but not quant level instability.
Not being quant doesn't make it useless. This is the medium speed income afterall, not meant for rushing income
I don't remember what modules are good for prospector
Mr Sparkles just said what they are?
Assuming you're using a lancet:
If you're in the halo, you don't need modules, so you can use whatever you like. If you're having issues with instability, Brandt is good for that.
If you're on Lyria, you will run into rocks that will require a surge, and either a stampede or optimum in order to break them
I tried lyria but I could never find rocks there so I just go to the halo
But no I can't see the whole convo
In that case, no modules are necessary. Just use whatever you like.
Ah ok
How do you get to halo?
So is it better to head straight to arc 1 once you got quant or do i have time to get more
Feel free to try it and find out, but no, you don't have time to go looking for more Quant rocks to mine
if you have people sitting on other rocks...you can do that. if you have to manually find the extra rocks, dont
Quantainium mining is a one trick pony. The counter starts the second you vacuum the first bit of ore. If rock has other ore to back fill and top off the ship, grab it. Otherwise, make a beeline to the station
in a prospector though...you shouldnt have space after 1 rock
anyone with a mole want a turret manned?
Is it worth gathering and refining the other parts of the rock then?
Technically everything (other than inert) refines for a profit, but unless you're hauling to market with a C2 or cat the limiting factor will be space in the hauler, and refined junk ores will increase the number of trips you need to take
Most ores are also barely worth the time it takes to extract them
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
Nice try competition, you're not getting my limited stock items!
This is a cargo hauling channel. What am I supposed to do then?
I can fill up with distilled spirits but it takes an entire day to sell them all.
It was a joke.
Very simple to use, it pretty much tells you what to buy and where.
Well yeah, but it hurts my head
nvm i understand now
what modules should I put appart the flr xl in my prosp for planet mining?
we do minig with 2 prosp
whats best quantum for c2 I am looking at eurkal
t2 is faster but eurbus is more effienct
I always ear ppl put the T2 even in the HH
Stanton is so small that you can drop the fastest drives into S2 and S3 ships and be fine. Go with the TS-2.
Eventually ™️
i just got pad rammed at Olisar with a ship absolutely full of loot (which is all of my money by the way)
Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Or am I doomed to be pad rammed once more (with all of my money gone)
Pad ramming is a time honored troll d-bag move. It's reportable, and one of the very few things someone can be banned for. So, if you have proof, you can report that player.
I have a screenshot of a "Press Charges" notification as I was standing at the pad.
CIG is going to do nothing about it
FUCK.
It's one of the reasons why Olisar is a ghost town now. Pad ramming used to be rampant there. It's also one of the reasons why they're phasing out pads.
This morning I was going to implement my devious
drug sales den at CruL5 and sacrifice the Nomad in the process.
That ship was treating me wrong lately.
The sale at the Private Property site was at a premium of 130 per unit
10 points more than my last trip there. I wanted to shoot the place
up but paid the extra “fee” and they had the Nomad fully loaded for
$313,447.00.
On the last 30km to L5 I came under attack
perhaps some double crosser wanted me dead.
I fled to another station and laid low overnight.
I just got the ship stored and my first sale was at 157
per unit for $6,766. For now, bye bye Nomad!
Speaking of Pyro, Space Tomato just put up a video about it today.
I was shot dead there on that dumb pad and never going back. There are certain spots you should avoid.
Ha. PO used to be the main hub where everyone was all the time. I still can't get used to going there and seeing it empty.
I joined up in December and like the open pad landings. But they need like size 20 laser cannons at the station or get that Idris in play faster or steeper penalties for "Pad Ramming." The recent attack I had was fair game in my book. Also as players we need to do more for self protection and just be smarter along the way.
SC is basically an open world survival game with full PvP enabled. You have to play it like that. Trolls and griefers will always be a thing, so you have to be especially watchful for them.
attempt #2 at hauling with my cat
Drugs?
Yea, a vice I have. Can now supply half of Stanton.
was able to sell my cargo this time, swapping servers though because people started pirating around hurston right as I was leaving Arial
got an ECN network intrusion alert as I was buying my cargo, and an avenger warlock came onto radar as I was leaving atmo
Hacking coms array is lame
I rack my cs up before bed
Then sleep consequences away
indeed
Dont hate the player , hate the dev
If you run with at least one turret gunner you will generally be safe
Like in game drugs
Gimballed size 4s ate al you need
yes
are raven's roost and paradise cove still bugged?
Yea there is a whole list of "Vice" type drugs...You want to learn the ropes on scoring some?
I would load up at Lyria after breaking and setting my way home. It would go critical upon landing. I will try the closed hanger. Thanks
I just wanna know what ur talking about lol so I guess?
There are drugs you can buy in game. They can be sold at some places. Most places that buy them only buy a few at a time, so it can be very hard to offload a haul
Like the medical drugs?
No, illegal drugs.
Hmm, must never have seen them then
So how would you do it?
By not doing it at all, it's not worth it
Oh I'm just curious, like do you find them or something?
You buy them from the places that sell them
Oh ok
I wish there was something worth trading because I could just turn my brain off and do that for few hours and make some money
I bought this ROC DS but the laser beam is not firing? Is this a known glitch? Seems like there should be another power on button.
Are you inside the turret or are you still in the drivers seat?
I just had to log off but yea I had exited the drivers seat and got in the mining seat. A post on redditt said you have to exit and enter to try and get the game to recognize you as the operator.
There's a power on button in the mining laser seat, did you hit that?
Top right of the viewport IIRC
Yes I clicked the power button. The on screen info was all there but just no power from the laser. Next time I will do a pad repair or upgarde the components in advance.
One issue I sometimes have in ROCs is that I have to manually go unbind and rebind the activate laser mouse button
I checked the bindings mine is set to Mouse 1 like the ROC.
In my case even when the binding already showed correctly, I had to unbind it and rebind it (to the same thing) for it to work. No idea why.
I will look into that option also. Thx
Is there a way you guys protect your ships doing cargo runs from padrammers in moons?
Late loading in of three Hadanite gems: I took this new ROC DS to Daymar and while pinging in the ship I noticed a tight cluster of 3 white diamonds. I flew closer to get a good look; the gem icon never showed up. I wanted to get a look on foot and parked the ship. I walked around looking for them but did not really see them. Went back in the ship turned it on and three gem icons showed up in the window. These Hadanites were like teenagers, smaller than normal. So what's going on? If we have to park the ship near a diamond cluster for a 5-10 minute load in that will expand the time involved in mining. I know this is unusual but it is something I will be keeping an eye out for. What about you???
Mining icons dont appear when on foot
You have to be in a ship/vehicle for them
Probably hand mineables, smaller than roc deposits
Record your video with the qr code enabled and submit to CIG if you get pad rammed since pad ramming is against TOS
I rarely have this actual problem. If you see other ships on the radar maybe make a fly around or wedge the ship in a corner of the station. You could hit VTOL quickly right before you land... Use F4 to see what's going on around you. Not sure what else. Sorry.
Meh. Thankfully chose to bring my new RAFT insteas of my C2. Otherwise I'd have lost a couple hundred thousand aUEC instead of the 70k i lost during that.
I'll keep in mind the QR thing. But i did submit a report to CIG with screenshots picturing the name of the accomplices, time and server + moon location in hopes to at least punish people like that.
I do realize that, Just verifying the "gems" in person and see what type they were. Thanks!! Chris: Maybe that's why the laser wouldn't activate?
Are you in armistice?
No I was way out in the sticks.
Power the mining on and off then on again?
Wait
You said your in the DS, right?
yes
Are you trying to mine from the cabin?
Because the DS has a dedicated exterior mining seat
No, the mining turret starboard.
Are you powering the ROC down before getting into the station?
I rage quit and left everything out on Daymar lol
bruh
SLAM and server hopping: I went back to this SLAM business and worked through three server hops by region. It was a disaster; they follow you around. First sale 163 unit value for 174 units at $28K, 2nd region 162 unit value 43 units for 6k and the final one 161 unit value for 1 unit at 161.00 dollars. I rage quit again!! UPDATE: This morning I thought I would try a full system log off and power reboot on the pc. The sales improvements were modestly good over three efforts of this type with a region jump added: Sales of 13,792, 20,884, and 6,896. Not really going to do this all day but I can use the last session log in to continue on to other gameplay. So really you are adding just two extra log ins. I will have to fully explore what else this terminal takes as the walking distance is shorter than anything in a city. SLAM is one of the highest payouts. Thoughts or prayers always appreciated.
I wouldn't make a habit of rage quiting, that's how you burn through your cash/gear 😄
I know I had to buy a new calculator.
Huh?
I threw it against the wall.
Why tho...
Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but is the fuel refinery on ships implemented yet?
Just curious will the cargo refractor work with the mining ore box's on the mining ships so I can pit the into a hauler
So some ships have fuel scoops which means they can 'regen' fuel when meeting certain criteria
Oh so it’s not something you can transfer yet?
Eventually the main goas is to have all cargo be movable, be that purposefully or though more nefarious means
Oh, refueling is in. The starfarers can currently refuel I think 20-odd ships currently?
So the freelancer dur, can’t refuel, it only refers fuel for it’s own consumption?
Yup. It's fuel scoops can only resupply it's own tanks
I don’t have one but I was just looking at some other possible gameplay loops
Good to know.
I’m getting burnt out on cargo hauling… it’s profitable but still a grind and can get monotonous
Combat is pretty reliable
Yea but isn’t the max reward like 25k for ERT’s?
I currently make 100k to 120k on a cargo run that takes me around 30 minutes. But it’s just back and fourth to the same places.
I love combat, but it doesn’t seem as profitable after having to refuel and rearm every time. Unless the ERT’s make much more than 25k but that’s what the wiki says. So I havnt been trying to get my rep up for them
Someone hasn't heard about the emergency combat requests then 😄
Hit up the medium and high ones and yoru netting over 500k in about 20-30 mins
The player beacons?
Nope, their AI
You just need to get your rating up and they will increase in difficulty and pay?
Nope, these should appear for anyone and everyone so long as you dont have a CS
Maybe try a couple, get yoru rep up then
Group ERTs pay upward of 100k and can be done in <15min in a good ship
Will do
Their not the VLRTS to ERTs though, their seperate
Also, you only have a limited time to get to them and start them
You can also only have 1 active at a time
Okay thanks, I’ll check it out
You also don't need to refuel and rearm after every ERT, only every few
Just use laser weapons and dont bother with missiles, their pretty much pointless rn
Unless you're doing something like Eclipse or Retaliator ERTs, just one-shot the target and move on
just got c2 besides qd what should I upgrade on it?
When the hud message pops up it tells you what key to press to accept
Okay thanks
does the mole need any attachments to mine quantanium
Bare minimum, you’ll need to upgrade the mining heads. At least one should be a lancet. Ideally you’ll want some modules installed as well.
Just got frustrated a bit. It was a long day. But I have some new results in. Check out the post. Take care!
What modules would yall recommend
For halo mining an maybe Lyria mining but I can never find em
I don’t like actives so I run a lancet with 2 Vaux and a focus and I bring waveshift gadgets for tough rocks.
I don't want like limited use ones either
Many people recommend surge and stampede actives
Active ones are ones that you have to click a button to use em right?
Yes, and they only have 5 uses before you need to replace them
are some of the cargo consoles still glitched, i remember trying to haul a few months ago and the cargo consoles wouldn't detect my ship
I’ve noticed a few times the station doesn’t recognize you’ve landed and won’t detect the ship. Listen for the doors starting to close and the welcome message. If that doesn’t happen take the ship slightly off the pad and touch back down and it’ll usually recognize it
does any one need cargo transported i have a c2 and i can transport stuff
Very little cargo can be transferred between players currently
Good luck trying that.
Bfor the c2 should i get the military shields or the industrial onea
@versed stratus Just so you know, there is this channel for asking those kinds of questions next time. This channel is way more calm
Here's an example of Laranite trading with the Avenger Titan. Average 4,000 aUEC per trip:
cool but uh that one explorer dude asked the question not me lol
Exploration Enjoyer?
@bright quartz Was it you who asked this?
Chat moved by so fast
well not about the titan, he just asked the best ships for cargo
Oh, the best ships would be the C2 and Caterpillar then. In fact, you could say they're the only good ships.
^ Those per trip amounts skyrocket to 120-220... thousand aUEC per trip with those two
Yis
Provided you have enough initial capital to buy the commodity
and the patience to wait for the stock to refill
that's why some people go for titanium and stuff instead
Titanium’s pretty cool
i wonder how they will implement the Hull series
Made 10 grand a trip with a freelancer
cuz 1) the players will be loading their own cargo
Wait wot
- Hull B and up can store alot of cargo
Like use vehicles to load cargo?
yeah at some point players will be doing that themselves, hopefully you can pay for someone doing it for you
or a tractor beam
definitely
God I can’t wait
The bigger Hulls won't be able to land planetside. They'll have to do station to station trading.
ye ik but thats for the Hull C and up
Or perhaps there will be a ship that goes up to them
the B and A can land planet side
Eventually we'll have cargo dispensers, freight elevators, etc. You can already find the cargo dispensers in the current hangar bays, they're the large jutting out wall with the window next to it near the elevator
I am really looking forward to these features
The C2, by the way, is the easier of the two I mentioned. It's more or less designed to be solo'd (or with one other person.) All of the components are on one deck, and easy to access, right outside the bridge area.
It also flies like a fighter.
Which is why I will always just describe it as... a really BIG Avenger Titan.
Really personal preference. I don't mind the machinery/industrial feel of having to walk catwalks and going up exposed stairwells
But yeah, the C2 is really slick
The C2 Hercules Starlifter is a civilian heavy transport manufactured by Crusader Industries. Utilizing the patented Hercules military-grade spaceframe and expanding cargo capacity, while sacrificing barely any firepower, the C2 has taken the private sector by storm. It has become the industry standard for racing teams, ship dealers and manufacturers, construction orgs, mining corporations, and even large-scale touring entertainment outfits.

I'm considering it for IAE, depending.
We'll see how it ends up being impacted by the cargo refactor
Cargo refactor?
It's a rework of cargo planned for 3.18
Haven’t played since 3.15 lmao
Cargo boxes will be able to be moved around
What will it do?
Oh
Eventually, we'll have to manually load (or get AI to do it over time) through the cargo dispensers I mentioned
We saw RMC SCU Boxes be able to be hand-tractored, and since those actually are SCU Boxes, we're assuming yes
RMC is a product of salvage, which is also coming in 3.18, the vulture and reclaimer make RMC SCU Boxes
God dayum
Lemme read some of the patch notes and I’ll come back, a lot had changed
3.17.2 is the current patch
3.18 is coming mid-november
going to have to rename this to cargo-salvage-mining for a channel soon

Whats this?
One of the ship packages: https://starcitizen.tools/List_of_ship_packages
The lists on this page detail the Packages available from Cloud Imperium which contain various ships for us in Star Citizen, as well as other content.
The expensive ship packages, like that one, are only available to concierge (1000 USD or more spent)
grey market (or received via gifting) don't count toward your total spent
Oh, it gets better:
Ain’t no way i am ever pledging a ship
^ That one is "almost" all the ships
Obviously it excludes stuff like the promo, etc. ones (IE: AMD/Intel/etc.)
Oh hell naw
And if you're wondering about that "VFG Industiral Hangar"
Back in Star Citizen i take a look at the VFG Industrial Hangar.

You’ll need to buy hangers in the future?
Ship packages and pledges come with them, always.
Ships come with hangars. Look in your hangar on the site and you'll see them.
so if i only bought the mustang alpha start i’ll only have a small hanger or..?
You get this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wxh2Ttz0s4

Just remember, these are the old ones, they'll probably change
It literally says on the site, for every ship what hangar comes with it.
Hangars were basically a "Show off" area of your ship(s)
And if i buy a ship in-game?
You can read all about the hangar system here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/hangar-module
Roberts Space Industries is the official go-to website for all news about Star Citizen and Squadron 42. It also hosts the online store for game items and merch, as well as all the community tools used by our fans.
Sorry for the dumb questions
Just remember, they've been disabled since 3.13.1a
what micro tech moon is the best for roc mining
None
okay
Aberdeen is best for hadanite. Yes, you do need the Pembroke armor but it is worth the effort
but thats in hurston correct?
Most ships in the game are able to make it from microtech to hurston systems
yeah I have an msr with an xl-1. Its not that I can't make it, I was just curious what I could do in MT system
There are targets of opportunity on the moons around microtech but the value of them doesn't compare to Aberdeen
At one time microtech used to have a 100% hadanit, miss those days
Yea I don't like those
okay, thank you.
If you can spawn in ground vehicles, it would save a trip to mining ports right?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Fair
Would it make the platinum bay depots redundant then?
Shrug likely inbound I think.....
Speculation lacks foundation
I use my Cutty to bed log but I never log back in there. Wish I could however. Sometimes.
Are you bedlogging by looking to the far left and selecting log out? Or are you just laying down and logging out?
is orinth still bugged?
Once I lay down I have looked around a little bit but not to the far left. However I will look into this further. Thanks for bringing this up! Will get back to this post and report what's happened.
Ya of course. Look as far left as you can and you’ll see the option to logout
Or to the 'open' side of the bed. For me in a titan it's to the right.
Bed logging is twitchy.....OM points don't work too well, but stations parked outside works OK.
Logging on planet surfaces is risky... Your ship spawns in without landing gear, then you spawn in where you logged.... So you could be inside the ship Hull.
The middle of nowhere I think has problems as the server doesn't know where you are, and you could get infinite loading screen, which then defaults to your last visited station.
Why would you beg log outside a station when you could just land?
Is trading any good at the moment?
Apparently only if you have either a C2 or a cat
Anything with medium and small ships is underwhelming with at most a 10,000 auec gain, then you switch to the C2 and cat and its up to 240,000 gain with full load of laranite and it takes a while for it to reach full stock
Should I be doing tours of the different sites on the planet or just go make some coffee while the lara ticks back up?
I’ve had pretty good returns running medical supplies around Microtech with a Taurus (174 SCU). You just need to know where to land on New Babbage to skip all of the trains and elevators.
Up to you really
Medical supplies are different
Thats another story of it’s own, however i am no professional, there are people here that can answer this much better
where?
can you send a screenshot of where you land?
Also, I hope one day to be able to trade on a ship with 10,000 of SCU
like twice as big as the Javelin
just that it will probably cost 100,000,000 aUEC
or more
I’m working. This guy has the right spot though. https://youtu.be/xutjDRZKK0Q
Please watch: "SHIP PRICE PREDICTION FOR IAE 2952 IN STAR CITIZEN..."

In this video i will be showing you where the secret entrance is to get into microtech and make things alot faster especially if tram doors glitch in New babbge/Microtech and it helps with faster trading
Discord: https://disc...
I think he means the garage entrance for the land vehicles spawn. It's in the Commons Mall area at New Babbage. Outside there are three domes you fly to. The area is unsecured so be careful.
that's so cool
Yea, turns New Babbage from the city with the longest turn around time to the city with the shortest turn around time.
these days I just trade widow at GH
but when I scale up, I will look into other routes
Once you learn the access to the garage, you won't have any issues getting back there. There's been times when trade was more active to have 5 or 6 large ships stacked up on the frozen lake and driveway up to the vehicle hanger

That sounds pretty dope
It’d be cool to land and see a bunch of cats/carracks/C2’s all grouped together, ready to sell their cargo
it's not cool
the more people present = the less you sell
= less profit = less fun
Except that supply/demand is shared across all servers in the region, so nobody being there doesn't indicate that there will be more profit
I have 4 mill I'm gonna buy a prospector and a I wanna do some mining with the prospector what ship should I get for the money I have left to sell refined Quant?
You can rent a cutlass, freelancer or andromeda to run quant. This way you can save for one that you like.
I could do that
After your done outfitting your ships, you will be short on funds for a transport. I personally like the constellations, they fit more as a multi role, but freelancer max is cheap and has really nice cargo hold.
Worthwhile purchasing options (for hauling quant):
Argo RAFT: 96 SCU, 1.9M aUEC
MISC Freelancer MAX: 120 SCU, 2.2M aUEC
RSI Constellation Taurus: 174 SCU, 3.3M aUEC
Drake Caterpillar: 564 SCU, 4.7M aUEC
Crusader C2 Hercules Starlifter: 696 SCU, 4.9M aUEC
I'd recommend waiting until you have enough to get the MAX at least
Thinking about buying Caterpillar, how is it compared to Hercules and is Cargo still profitable ?
There is no reason to buy a caterpillar if buying in game right now. The C2 is better in every objective way.
Cargo can be profitable but only with C2 or caterpillar. It's also very risky since you can easily lose your haul to bugs or "pirates"
So you can call Caterpillar useless in current patch?
The C2 is objectively better right now. If you like the caterpillar more, that's still a valid reason to use it.
If you're looking to buy with real money, there are changes in the future that will potentially make the caterpillar better by comparison
Nah just buying with credits
A freelancer MAX
And C2 is fully cargo? Could I use it as daily driver if I want?
C2 is massive and should not be used for a daily driver lol.
You could but yeah, it's massive and unwieldy
I'm using a Constellation Taurus as a daily driver... And its a bit much.....
I have the Taurus and the MAX, while I like both, the MAX seems to be more compact (relatively) for hauling and ROC mining
taurus more versatile though, since you can use it for bounty missions too
You can use a Taurus to do pretty much anything
As for ROC mining, the MAX is easier to get into tight spots than the Taurus imo. I do like the Black livery on the MAX, my Taurus is sporting the Red
Un-scannable Rocks FIX tip!!
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/PnU9CrCcGE0
All credit to Macedon for this great little tip. If you head out to the Aaron Halo and "no rocks" will give you scan results. This will fix it.
I'm going to go try this NOW
i just found an amazing quantanium cluster, is there any way to set a precise waypoint so i can come back and mine all of them?
Need to have picked up a delivery or research mission beforehand, then you can have the box marker to use... otherwise, need a second player to come to you
What would be an estimated profit per run in C2?
!tradetools
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
Thanks
Expect 80-120k
Issue is that you won't be able to fill up on the high-profit stuff, supply is too low
can i have more than 3 work orders going in the refinery?
You can have as many orders as you want going
and it will store my refined quantanium from the finished refinings until i collect it?
yes
what ship do i need to transport that? i have about 2-3000 cSCU per order
im fine doing 3/4 runs tho
will the cutlass black cut it or do i need to rent something bigger?
Should be able to haul one order at a time in a cutty
Andromeda can do 2-3 I believe
im just confused because in the refinery it says cSCU and on the internet it says cuttlass has 46 SCU
Yeah
so how much cSCU is one SCU then?
Afaik 1SCU = 100cSCU
If you're renting, Cutlass can carry 46 SCU (4600 units), and can be rented at the refinery itself. Freelancer 66 SCU and Andromeda 96 SCU, can be rented on some planets.
Long term, you'll probably want to buy your own hauler.
Worthwhile purchasing options:
Argo RAFT: 96 SCU, 1.9M aUEC
MISC Freelancer MAX: 120 SCU, 2.2M aUEC
RSI Constellation Taurus: 174 SCU, 3.3M aUEC
Drake Caterpillar: 564 SCU, 4.7M aUEC
Crusader C2 Hercules Starlifter: 696 SCU, 4.9M aUEC
Yeah
Np
yes its 4600 cSCU
thanks, ah and just one more thing, i get 88 credit for 1 cSCU right?
so for 4600cSCU i get about 400k
sounds too good to be true
thats why im asking ;D
yes
damn okay, then i better get out there and look for some more, thanks again guys!
How long does it take to mine that much?
45min-1.5 hours depending on skill and luck
Why max and not raft
Hm would the upgrades cost though I might not be able to afford either
Because the max is much more versatile than the raft is, and it’s got a bigger cargo hold for only a little bit more money
Hmm ok
Could I do trading with it? I want to get into it but I can't figure out routes and stuff
You can do some beginner hauling with a max yeah, it won’t make a ton of money though, I get like 10-20k per run with it
If you want to actually do trading as viable income, really need a caterpillar or C2. We'll see if cargo refactor changes anything in that regard, but I doubt it
I'd be fine with an overall cargo buff, I can't imagine theres much ways to make small cargo viable without also buffing bigger cargo but that's probably fine
What's a good place to mine with a prospector?
Lyria or the Aaron halo
bought a load of medical supplies without realizing it was all of my money
made it back to NB safe though
I am really curious to see how they end up balancing this. Even ignoring the <10 SCU "light freight" ships and starting at the Nomad with 24 SCU, Star Citizen has a huge spread between the smallest cargo hauler and the largest (currently Hull E, 98340 SCU)-- ~4000 times as much.
I don't think any other similar space sim has such a large gap.
- For MMOs, EVE's freighters only hold ~300 times as much as the beginning hauling ships
- Elite Dangerous's Type-9 freighter is only ~35x the Hauler
- For single player, X4 seems to be on par with Elite at about 30x
- Freelancer (unmodded) was only 4x between the Rhino and the Dromedary
How do you balance it so that the guy in the Hull E isn't making 4000x as much as the guy in the Nomad? Limited supply/demand items with higher profit are one way to balance things, but the current implementation in SC is pretty poor. Supply/demand need to scale with the number of players, not be a global fixed number--per-server would work better than the current models.
Trade isn't going to be anything close to what it is now. I'm pretty sure that some trade routes and chances will like behind walls related to reputation. Also, for the huge ships like the Hull C, D and E, the captain of the ship will not be the owner of the cargo
And at that point wtf do you do with a "light freight" ship with only 4 SCU
drugs, contra, or maybe high value cargo that can only be obtained and sold in small quantities
Maybe a mission that is to carry some relics in a small ship to a desolate location that can't be easily reached with large ships.
Jump point size is going to be one balancing point I think
The larger Hull series are also intersystem transport while the RAFT, MAX, Taurus, Hull A & B might be intrasystem transport
The Hercules Starlifter C2 might be so inconvenient to load for cargo that it will be strictly a transport carrier
I have the Hull C aspiring towards the pro-trade level (if there is one)
ALMOST had a Unicorn ... did a 31.99 SCU of Quantainium run to the refinery
C2 shouldn't have had the entire hold be for cargo imo. Should've been like the Valk where there's a ton of space for vehicles but not much cargo
yeah like a bunker on asteroids
question for all the people who mine on lyria. What's your experience with pirates? If/when you get interdicted, is it typically on the way to a refinery, or do you get jumped while out mining?
how often do the trade terminals get refreshed? any advice on how to view them fast without refreshing 24/7?
20 mins incs i think
lol @ literally every planet being shit to mine on except lyria
ok ita produces big agricium cluster, but it's not worth because it's windy as heck
would be nice if mining other ore besides Quantainium was worth the time
Any roc miners around? My mining arm wont move down to extract...Help Found out I had the arm up glitch, could not undo it. Had to hand collect 6 stones worth of Dolivine. Big hassle both the ROC DS and the ROC let me down but the ROC did crack all 6 stones but would not extract.
does anyone wanna help a newbie out by taking them along in a mining trip?
Whats a good place to sell diamonds near microtech
new babbage at the TDD
This is the problem as it stands....
Where to sell is always going to be a planetary city's trade district. No variation, no reason to look.
Go to mining outpost, get Laranite, then Titanium. Fly to city and sell, end loop.
no dynamic economy until Quanta is in game and developed. all Coming Soon™
@vestal ravine if you have the "Arm in face" bug, take a drink of water. It'll fix it
I’ve been away from SC for about 5 months. Are mining gadgets useful for cracking large mass rocks on Lyria or is Surge/Stampede still the meta? And if they meta hasn’t changed, are the new gadgets really useful at all??
I don't use them but they have value if you want to take the time. I mainly mine in the Halo so all I need is a Surge with the Lancet to tackle any rock there.
So when prospector m8nning and you are in the red zone is it better to turn off the drill or make a sharp turn?
I keep blowing up
Did they increase rock mass maximums in the Halo?
No, they are are still about 5K ish max
But it seems it is easier to crack rocks in space of the same size than rocks on surface of moons or planets
Power off. Faster than powering down.
As in shutting off drill or ship?
Just the power to the laser
Are you using the mouse wheel for control?
I switched to a slider for mining laser power control, it is a 1000 times better than the mouse wheel
I tried a Boremax last night on a 8k rock on Lyria. No help.
8K rocks require a specific skill set that isn't easily obtained. You will be using two surges, a stampede and one other.
This video details the process of solo breaking large mass rocks using a surge module, allowing you to fracture any sized rock in the verse as a solo mining operator. I cover what equipment is needed to solo break, as well as a detailed guide through each of the steps to master this technique.
Timestamps:
00:00 Welcome
00:29 You Don't Have To ...
I’m aware. Thx. I was curious if that meta changed with the addition of gadgets. So, in short, it seems the addition of gadgets has not changed the solo’ing of large mass rocks.
ah, rgr. It does help but "slightly" I have seen where players experimented and cracked huge rocks with a ROC and about 100 gadgets, LOL
I put 5 Bore max’s on that 8k chonker last night and it seemed to do nothing.
Maybe 8k is a bit big. Maybe 6k they’d be helpful.
Or “useful”
I’m going to try more combinations going forward. Anyone with insightful info regarding gadgets and/or module combinations would be very welcome. Things that stray from the Surge/Stampede meta.
What do you mean a slider?
A slider like on a Joystick or stand along slide for power input
why does the responsiveness of the power slider suck so bad with mouse
I would literally scroll down slightly and it wouldnt even change
That delay is there with any input device.
the mouse wheel has some odd interface adjustment speeds. It made mining awful for me. When I started using joysticks, the first thing I noticed for mining was the massively improved control with a slider dealing with the laser head
Mouse wheel isn't counted as "1:1", whereas a slider is.
In other words One "click" of a mouse wheel doesn't equal 1% power.
Is there a certain processing method I should be using to refine ore? There’s a bunch of different companies to choose from
The two that matter are Dinyx Solventation (highest yield, longest wait) and Ferron Exchange (same yield, 1/3 time for 2x cost)
Thank you
whats the cargo website thingy?
!tradetools
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
UEX corp and SC trade tools are both good websites
thanks
Thanks, I had to go back to the ship several times for a drink of water but could not figure out how to take a item from the ship's inventory and drop it on the floor or turn it into a carriable package. I had heard you need to "pick up or grab" a helmet box for instance and that resets your arms. Anyway I am going to create such a box at the mining station loot boxes and carry it onto the ship. Not sure why the DS model will not extract or mine. I think I will destroy it in the field and recall it maybe it will get fixed. Do you think buying a second model will "fix" this problem? I really like the DS and there SHOULD be a way to get it to work as advertised. WWJD ???
DS works fine for me, I doubt you need to buy a second one. Destroying and claiming is a good start
Never used a roc of any kind, so can't tell you lol
how useful are mining modules?
Depends on where you're mining. If you're mining in the halo, they're optional and not needed. If you're mining on Lyria, they're absolutely required to mine the larger rocks.
so depends on rock size & type
Anyone got recommendations for mining modules, for a prospector probably space mining because I can never find them on moons, and I'm not a big fan of active modules I much prefers passive but since I have enough friends I'm ok with 1 surge but need ideas for the other 2
If mining in Aaron's Halo (where I mine almost 100% of the time). You only need a Lancet and the surge modules. Later you can upgrade your Quantum Engine - I would recommend the Atlas. One trick to get less dud scans of asteroids is
- remove laser head from ship
- spawn ship
- stow ship
- restore laser head and consumables (surge)
ALSO You must know how to use active angle ping scanning, otherwise you are wasting your time.
I would recommend mining out of CRU-L1 and jumping to ARC-L3. Drop out at 11.5M Km from ARC-L3. Be sure to then set your return plot back to the Station at CRU-L1
When you drop into the Halo, First thing is go into mining mode. Then Set your ping to 179 or 90 degrees. After you ping, then zoom your ping angle to 2 degrees and focus on your targets of opportunity. If within 12Km you will get either no return or the top right of your screen will show the ID of the asteroids.
You want only Q type asteroids. When closing in on a Q cluster, keep pinging and you will see data start to show up. If the Instability is 2, 4, 5, or so, it will probably be a very low % of Quantainium asteroid. You will get use to determining that.
You may know this but when you get your rock ready to break, crack it all the way down to purple before you collect any ore. When ready, make note of where your quantum marker is to head back. Vacuum up the Quan, hit B to engage Quan, Zip back to station.
You do not need a surge in the Halo, all rocks there can be mined with a Lancet alone and patience
Hi, im new to the game and i would really like to teamup with someone and start mining or doing cargo missions
anyone interested?
I knew everything else but had no idea abou that ping stuff I didn't even know you could narrow it
this is vital, I'll link a video for you by RED Monster SC
Yea this might have saved me loads of time instead of running around like a headless chicken
This video covers a technique I call Active Ping Angle Tuning and how you can utilize the technique to improve your surveying skills. This is very useful when scouting the asteroid belt or if you are searching for Quantainium clusters on Lyria.
For an in depth guide to surveying in the belt, check out my previous video here: https://www.youtub...
I turned over 275K aUEC in 20 minutes with this trick
Also, if you use CRU-L1, you will get a 3% bonus for Quantainium. Like Winter said earlier, use the Dinyx or the Ferron.
Thx much
hmm astatine or titanium/larantite
what ships can fit a Nova?
and is there any way to load vehicles into a caterpliiar?
Is there a thing that has what all the mining moduels do?
What is the best thing to mine with the prospector and where can you find it?
C2 and A2 can fit a nova
Astatine from Ida is an awesome pull if you can fill her up
I think it offers some of the best margin and profit
Quantanium. Aaron halo belt and lyria are your best spots at the moment for it.
Rental or one you own?
They have descriptions in game about what they do. But you can Google them or use the star citizen tools for a faster reference I believe
Oh ok, I was just hoping there was a graph thing or umm table of what they do but I'll do that
Also reposting this neat trick to get less dud scans of asteroids is
- remove laser head from ship
- spawn ship
- stow ship
- restore laser head and consumables (surge)
I own one
Are you familiar with Active Angle Ping tuning?
Are you new to mining with the Prospector?
If new, then mine any and everything above the value of Agricium. Practice making hauls to the refinery, choose Dinyx or Ferron (Dinyx is cheaper but longer to complete). Get the Lancet laserhead for your Prosp.
