11 scannables
zero now
that was after QT'ing to a new location
an even denser one
welp there goes any money I was trying to make today
3 bands
same problem
I dont quite understand. Are you saying all the rocks are ghost rocks?
I pulled 1mil out of the halo this morning. Yes there alot of ghost rocks, you just keep going. Eventually you'll find a good rock. I search about 10 minutes, if don't find one worth mining. I jump 20-30km and go again.
I tested out literally not moving. Just qt, 360. If there's not a q rock, qt again. Found a bunch of 15-20% that way lol
With the current state of the halo, I've lowered my expectations and I'm fine with mining all the 15-20s instead of trying to wait for a 30-40%
Did you try before or after free fly started?
What time did the ff start est? Lol. It was between like...12:30 and 2ish est
FF started around noon est
Is anyone taking advantage of the free Carrack to move a bunch of cargo this week? Iโm hoping it will be too cost prohibitive to the free trial players for them to be much of a problem for stock.
Then yes lol.
Kind of disappointed in the FF ships, I already have all of them except the scorpius. Probs end up flying it tonight cause I've never flown it. May end up pledging one if I like it
I'll be sure to not try the "get out of the seat" trick then. I never worry about duds, I just run with active ping angle tuning. Since I know from about 10k it's no good, no waste of time
correct
not even getting a scan tho
all prelim scans are showing blank readings @north oyster
travelled to 5 different boxes and all rocks were unscannable, got up sat down, they all disappeared
I'll try again tonight, I may even try to swap regions hoping for some downtime
Did you try switching servers?
Wait, why are you flying to rocks that are unscannable?
But yes, you can expect the halo to get worst the further into free fly we get. This weekend I wouldn't even bother trying.
Nothing like a game crash while transporting all the refined quant I had. 55 units worth just gone now. I had the landing pad in site too!
Just had a guy in a server earlier say the av equipment bug was back and convinced a couple people. Troll job or someone watched a few videos from the last free fly and got confused?
AV equipment shouldn't be in the game currently, so I'd wager troll job--unless he was saying there was a specific other commodity?
Then you're not at the right trading station. In Lorville you need to go to the Central Business District stop, then up the stairs and turn left
is there limit to howmuch you can sell on Devlin?
There's a limit to how much of a commodity you can sell at any location and it's across all servers
So got jumped by AI pirates halfway to the refinery. Lost about 23/32 worth of want in my prospector since I could jump away. Tonight was just not my night for mining
@fallen atlas what's the limit :3
It depends by location. !tradetools below will give the total limits, but that's not indicative of what they will actually buy.

If someone in any server just sold/bought a commodity there then everyone loses access to X amount(based on how much they bought/sold).
does the catapiller have a bigger cargo capactiy then a tarus concidering upgrading to it
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
Shows cargo capacity of all the ships currently announced
oh thanks
(answer is yes, caterpillar has like...3x the capacity of the taurus, and is the 2nd highest capacity ship right now behind the c2)
C2 is chonk
tarus has 174 cat packs 564
jesus crust
thats like 4x
you could empty out a entire outpost with taht shit
C2 best ship.
My c2 trying to take off
catapiillers reclaimer or the kraken trying to take off
Is there a good way to calculate how much money to expect from a single refine order of quant in the refinery terminal before delivering it?
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
I'm gona need a little more info than that ๐
Whatever the number of refined quantium is multiplied by 88
A 3k load 3000 * 88 = 264000 credits
Well that was a extremely simplified version ๐ Just curious though which tab on that website do i use? I kinda want to get familiar with it as i already us the mining section now & then
I guess you just x by 80 & bingo
Yup
Makes sense
88 not 80 but yea you get it :)
Yeah 88 i meant, MB ๐
Next question would be what is a good ship for hauling refined quant? Is there a good indicator for my ship storage vs how much a load will take up?
Depends on how much quant you have. If you're renting, Cutlass can carry 46 SCU (4600 units), and can be rented at the refinery itself. Freelancer 66 SCU and Andromeda 96 SCU, can be rented on some planets.
So Andomeda can carry 9600 Units?
yes
Long term, you'll probably want to buy your own hauler.
Worthwhile purchasing options:
Argo RAFT: 96 SCU, 1.9M aUEC
MISC Freelancer MAX: 120 SCU, 2.2M aUEC
RSI Constellation Taurus: 174 SCU, 3.3M aUEC
Drake Caterpillar: 564 SCU, 4.7M aUEC
Crusader C2 Hercules Starlifter: 696 SCU, 4.9M aUEC
Rn i only have 3 order loads & i have both a Cutlass & Andromeda, I think i'll use one of those for now until i invest into a C2
So correct me if i'm wrong, the C2 can carry 69600 Units?
I doubt i would ever attempt to fill it up even if a 30k refunds me, It's more i would rather have to much space than not enough like in the cutty
It's either the C2 or Freelance Max for me ๐ Can't decide
Freelancer MAX is a solid choice. Not expensive and makes a decent small vehicle carrier too
I'm just watching some videos now & a downside i'm seeing to MAX is it's bad handling in atmo & at slow speeds, specially in atmo but the C2 apparently has not handling issues in atmo with a full load & or at slow speeds
๐คจ
The C2 is handling reaaaaly good for a vessel that size.
That's what i'm seeing from these videos
According to YT it's the best handling large carrier/cargo atm
C2 has the most cargo of any ship currently available in game, and also has stupidly good handling
hopefully with cargo refactor in 3.18, the Caterpillar will get some advantages
Before i got the game a few months back the Caterpillar was the first cargo ship i wanted but after playing the game a bit i think i'll get the C2 for now considering i'll spend most my days mining
The shields from what i can see on YT on the C2 are really good as well
note that there will be another wipe in 3-5 months, so don't kill yourself grinding for stuff now
The C2 has 2 S3 shields so yeah, thats really good
the default qt drive on the C2 is the first thing that should get upgraded, then the shields obviously
the qt drive the c2 comes with is soooooo bad
How far can i jump it?
it's not distance, it's speed
Crusader to Arc?
all of the big ships can go full distance in stanton on any drive
So how is it bad?
Very slow
Aaah
Any recommendations on something a bit faster?
I'm for sure getting a C2 here shortly
use !erkul to see speeds of quantum drives
โข Calculator โข Shops โข Ships โข Weapons โข
The thing is every time someone sends me to that site is i don't know what is a good vs bad speed, what's average & what's OP
It just slaps you with a bunch of stats, I don't know what half represent tbh
click the QD, sort by speed
Okay but i can get one that really fast & bad fuel consumption
Wouldn't really help tbh
for S1 you want Atlas if you need to get all the way across the system, Spectre if you only care about shorter hops (the "faster" drives have very poor acceleration and are not actually faster)
For S2 and higher just get the fastest drive
Fuel is super cheap right now, and all ships with S2 and higher QDs can make it all the way across the system with the fastest drive
TS2 is much more worth it
Fastest S3 QD, and the C2 defo has the fuel tanks to use it pretty effeciently. I have made multiple cross system jumps without running out of fuel ๐
Yeah, the Starlifters have the highest amount of QT fuel in their tanks (88k units)
Any other recommended upgrades? I will only be using it to shift refined quant for now
no ship currently available comes even close
the fastest one
it uses barely more qt fuel
Syntexx, do we know if the Starfarer can refuel larger ships yet?
If yoru jsut hauling cargo, the QD is really the only upgrade you need to make
Maybe your powerplant as well
I sadly dont know anything about the Starfarerer and/or ship to ship refueling
What does this do?
Provides more power
I've never upgraded ships beyond my lancet head on a prospector & a VK-00 QD so this is all new to me
Should help decrease charging/aligning times
Shields should be upgraded before that
You will never shoot back in a C2
if you get hit you run
Power to shields and qt away
Switch the VK-00 to a Spectre. VK-00 is a trap
Would be a waste of money, never had issues with it, does what i need to do fine!#
If their jsut running cargo, the likelyhood of them getting hit up in such a way that they cant run soudns...odd
I think for now i'll just worry about a QD for the C2
i doubt a entire fleet is gona jump on me
VK-00 is really jsut fro the defender at this point
its preparing for the worst
VK-00 (and its friends) have a higher top speed than the Spectre but a very bad acceleration, using a VK-00 causes your trips to take longer than just using an Atlas
Their only jsut getting started
don't switch it now, sure, but next wipe something to keep in mind
TS2 works well for the C2
I will, after i got it i saw a video and the guy got a atlas
For now i just wana get to grip with the basics
not looking to over sweat it
Its alright, step by step ๐
Atlas is the default choice for all ships that use an S1 QD since it's the fastest drive that lets you get all the way across the system without stopping to refuel (although that might actually not be true anymore with the really distant MT Lagrange stations added)
It's pretty much never the wrong choice

I'll keep this in mind for other ships for sure, still got a cutty i wana do some upgrades on when i got more money, after the C2 buy & upgrades i will be saving before i splash on ships or more upgrades
Back to the mining grind
just fyi, those are the ships with the highest amount of qt fuel in their tanks
thats why you can easily put the fastest qt drive in the C2 without ever having to worry
Once i understand that website & what everything represents i think i'll have a lot less questions overall ๐
You dont understand that picture?
ah
It's a bit overwhelming when you first go on the site with no information on what anything means, some things are more self explanatory than others
In all honesty i completely disagree. Its a super simple website, everything is explained and obvious
why does the Atlas drive get recommended over the Voyage drive for S1 QD's?
Range limits on Voyage
less qt fuel required
what jump can't the Voyage make?
depends on the ships amount of qt fuel. it might make the jump there but not the jump back whilst the atlas also makes the jump back ๐
Atlas will need to refuel after doing the MT to Arc jump just the same as the Voyage from what I'm seeing
Atlas has 3/4 of the qt fuel requirement whilst having the same speed as the Voyage
You see why it is getting recommended now?
nope seems like I save 20s every trip and each drive still needs to refuel at the destination
I guess if you're going to the new Lagrange points it would help but there;s nothing there tbh
hmm guess I'm changing all my drives to Voyage
if I jump MT to ArcCorp, I have to refuel with either option to get back, Voyage just shave off 40 seconds on the round trip
if its about speed use the VK-00
VK00 won't get me anywhere
Voyage seems to let me reach any of the major planets while being the quickest
its reality
what is the best trade route for big cargo ship right now
!tradetools
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
i know the site but
whats the best trade route?
i tried the route on that site, and it didnt help me much
got a dead cargo in my ship
cant sell
Look at what can be traded in bulk, i.e. what locationsw can fill a C2 in 1 go
if you find a couple, see which one can gives you the highest profit marjin
how do i know?
Look at the max lovation inventory
the C2 has 69,600 units of space
So long as a location has more than 120,000 units of max storage, you can probably fill your C2 there
i dont see where that is
Then select which commodity your gonna look for
Check up on a couple to find what you want
I'm trying to avoid jsut telling you the routes, it's better if you learn what to look for, where to look for it and then go and give it some trial and error
in my first couple of runs I rana net loss of about 120k
Anyone got a list of those ship wreck locations?
Have they messed around with the Grav Levs? My Nomad crunches ALOT more than I remember......
is there a difference between cSCU and SCU?
1 Standard Cargo Unit (SCU) is 100 centi-Standard Cargo Units (cSCU)
what is the best mining laser for Prospector? and where can I get it? Im new to mining and trying to figure it out
Most people use the MH 1 Lancet for the Prospector.
Its the best one to use
Any lack in power can be made up for with surge modules
Stability is more important
first time in a prospector... I rented one. I was mining and the ship just shutdown, why?
did you overheat the rock? probably critical damage your systems
Did you press U? That's the default hotkey for power. Also when you're mining rocks you want to stay out of the red section, otherwise it overheats and explodes causing damage around it, its enough damage to destroy ship components.
Wrong, no. VK-00 is a trap on anything other than the Banu Defender
it wont let you jump if your qt wont be be enough
A) Yes it will
B) that's not what I mean. VK-00 has great top speed but piss poor acceleration. Use Spectre if you want max speed for short hops, it will take less time than the VK
Due to the poor acceleration, VK-00 takes longer for any trip you'll have fuel for in anything other than the Banu Defender
oh i didnt know, on paper it sounds decent
Yep, that's the problem with just looking at the top speed. It's not obvious at all
Me over here still slapping an Atlas in everything.
But if you look at the travel times on erkul for shorter hops you can see the difference... Unfortunately though the travel times don't show on the mobile version
Arc L5 to Mt I think
That looks like the longest trip from before 3.17.2
Theres longer trips available now, but nobody cares about the new stations
I like one of them (don't remember which it is), the admin office is right on the main floor, no galleria to go to. Easy drop off for boxes.
Whaaaaaat that sounds amazing. I wish they would do that for all of them
That's how it used to be, before they split them into levels. But they were also rat mazes back then.
Port olisar is the only one left iirc
Port olisar is the best station in the game right now due to not having elevators. I wish they would just add a hospital to it, rather than removing it in favor of the boring copy-paste other stations
Stations should feel unique, and (other than PO) they don't currently
PO is only unique because it's the last of its kind. It's also terirbly optimized and has a TON of redundancies.
It's essentially 4 station platforms in one big station
there's 4 copies of each store, 4 copies of the housing/terminals etc.
I feel like they could keep the design of the central area with the services to have a single one of those (adding a medical facility), with elevators to enough pads to not need the split
That's pretty much every other station.
voyage enjoyer
but I do like the pads more than hangars.
The old R&Rs I remember weren't like PO, they were their own thing. They mostly looked the same on the outside, but were a mess on the inside.
whats the best thing to mine with the roc
Hadanite. Aphorite is a distant second, dolovine isn't worth the trouble
If I'm not mining quantanium, is it best to mine from the planet/moon surface or in the asteroids?
I do like the Vitamin D wall at PO though
Any and everything above agricium
When you put the laser on one and start mining, does the scan cycle?
The laser shoots through it
Ok bummer thanks
I wish the Valk had more cargo space
You'd think it would with all that space in the vehicle bay
Open area doesn't necessarily mean cargo space. At least, it's not meant to. Cargo is supposed to go on locking cargo grids. The Valk is a drop ship. It's meant to carry personnel and vehicles into hot zones. The cargo capacity it does have is more of a bonus, to bring along some supplies for those troops.
i have been experimenting with cargo hauling for the first time today since we got the carrack to borrow for free fly
so far i havent been able to get over 150k an hour, tried hauling laranite + titanium and astanine + beryl and filling with scrap on the way back
not asking anyone to divulge their secrets but is it possible to make more? i had a good money making scheme with bounty hunting /bunkers where i made 400k+ an hour
i have 1 mill but i am not spending more than 400k at each stop
Currently cargo profit is based on three things. How much you can carry, how lucky you are, and how fast you are. I average around 100k a run in my Caterpillar. I don't know how much that is per hour because I don't time it (money grinding isn't a focus for me). But the Cat is a pretty slow ship, it takes forever to get in and land to sell, and take back off again.
Cargo isn't the beast money maker it used to be. When they made stock shared across servers, that nuked how profitable it was. Other stuff is much better these days.
Alright thanks, im enjoying it for the change of pace
That explains why laranite is non existent
just a bit surprised how low the efficiency of money making is with it, also the whole risk of getting a 30k with a full cargo is kinda scary
Since I started running cargo again a month or so ago, I've only filled on laranite once. Most of the time you only get one restock tick. Two if you're lucky. Half the time I'm filling entirely with titanium.
Didn't realize stock is shared across servers
30k recovery should get your cargo back, you just have to wait long enough for it to kick in (I do 15m to be safe).
I've not had such luck if the 30k happens on a planet
Now, if you buy and then get a 30k extremely soon after, it may not have been long enough for the server to save.
lol just got to lathan and found 1 whole unit of Laranite
how does this refreshing thing work, it refreshes 1389 units per minute for every server?
do you have to keep closing the terminal and opening and just hoping you get lucky or?
I've had the 1 unit before. I almost want to say that's someone trolling, because it stocks in larger quantities than that per tick. (I don't know how much or how often they are though, haven't cared that much to look into it).
I just buy what laranite is there an then fill up with titanium. Go sell. Rinse and repeat.
Even with a full titanium load I'm still making 100k a run.
how big is the cargo on a cat?
also the numbers dont seem to be right on sc tools
it says titanium is 7.1 UEC per unit but at the terminal it says 7.38
!erkul also has all ship info
โข Calculator โข Shops โข Ships โข Weapons โข
alright so about 120 scu bigger than the carrack
pretty cheap too
wish i hadnt bought my blade now lol
Now, keep in mind that the Caterpillar is slow. If it was a race, the Carrack might actually make more per hour, or tie it.
Yeah. In the current version of the alpha gameplay we have, it doesn't make much sense to grind for a Carrack with the intention of using it to make more money.
i would never buy it after having tried it now tbh
id rather have a cat for cargo hauling or a hercules for a mix ship
btw is it worth stocking up on scrap or should i just go back for more titanium+
Titanium. I've never had to step down to a third option. Grab all the laranite there, then fill up on titanium. Don't step down farther unless the titanium runs out (which I've never seen).
I meant stocking up on scrap at Lorville while selling the Laranite/Titanium, then going to the scrapyard on Hurston before going back to Lathan
Increased time for less profit overall. Best to stick with the standard run.
Alright thank you!
What am I doing wrong? I want to buy mining laser but I cannot pay for it, insufficient space, it say...
How much is a full roc of hadenite worth again?
Check the destination drop down, see if you're trying to put it in a backpack.
They're quite large, a bit too large for backpacks or pants pockets.
thank you, that was it, you are the best!! ....Im new at it
I made a similar mistake when this new system came out.
It's pretty annoying that it always defaults to the backpack, I wish it would default to the local
220k
You happen to know what moon is best for hadenite as well
Aberdeen (requires Pembroke), Arial, daymar
Okay thanks you soo much
Pembroke?
Pembroke armor and helmet, purchased from the refinery deck of a refinery station
Or a couple other places
Anyone let me tag along? newcomer?
#looking-for-session would be a better channel for that.
Wait you can buy armor up there? Didnt even know
There's a shop, yes
Not the same one where you rent the ROC? @ivory gust
Whats a good starting method to lots of aUEC? I know quantanium is a go-to but is there any benefits to mining other ores
Same place, different terminal
Do roc's with hadenite cause the cutlass, roc can be rented....
Quant is worth 2x anything else
basically a rented prospector sucks for quant so you need ot get 2m to buy it
I own my own prispector
then stick a lancet head on it and do quant since quant is actually easier to find than bexalite
team up with a scout.... and a few others eg I made 1m in about 90 mins last night
I just loaded up on laranite and titanium and had just entered QT when the game crashed.. should I enter the PU or wait or? is it all gone?
An actual crash, or a 30k?
Crash
Try logging back in. If your ship didn't plow into something after the crash (because you're still technically logged in for a bit before the server realizes you're gone), you may pop right back in, inside your ship.
RIP. I've always logged back in, sitting in the pilot seat.
so im fked?
Start doing random crap, moving around, crouching, jumping, prone, see if you can pop back out.
If not, well, welcome to alpha gameplay. Where bugs happen, and events like the free fly makes it worse.
omg it seems fine
thank god
last time that happened it was impossible to get back into the ship
In my experience when that happens you need to sit or lie down in something to fix it... Pilot's seat, bed, ROC in the cargo bay
I have been flying the Carrack from the Command position, maybe thats why I end up inside the hull
I guess ill set the spawn point to the ship aswell that way I can backspace into a bed if i have to
Are cargo runs profitable? Is the Starlifter worth investing? Anyone knows how much can it make on average run and how high is the risk of loosing the cargo?
they can be profitable but sometimes the source places lack supply
im making around 250-350k an hour on the carrack atm
How much money do I have to invest to fully load it and whatโs the average profit on a good run?
Thank you
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
Maybe. I'd go to the lower bridge and fly from the seat.
I'd be careful with this. I'm not sure that setting your spawn to the carrack actually persists through a logoff (or client crash) and logon

Well at least it wont make anything worse, since its a last resort
yeah im doing that now, it takes like 15 seconds extra every lift and takeoff
i really like having the pisces in the carrack, really quick to get to terminals and back into ship
Thank you, definitely necessary and very useful. Good charts. I guess what I wanted is an experience pilot opinion on weather I should or should not go into this business. Could you please give some pointers?
hop out of the airlock instead of using the bay door...it definitely shouldn't take less time to take the pisces to the terminal
Alternately, if you want to be pro, have a second person piloting the ship take off the moment you sell or buy the goods, and then just backspace to get back to the ship, save a couple minutes on each end that way (and more when you drop off in a city)
Well, right now cargo running is extremely barebones. Go here, buy, go there, sell. There isn't much more to it. That's changing soon though, the cargo refactor is coming and it will dramatically change how cargo works.
Thank you, so much, you think I should wait or start training for it? Iโm pretty new around here
It's a decent-ish way to make money for the time investment, as long as you have a C2 or Caterpillar and 1M to invest. However, it's very repetitive, and probably the single riskiest game loop right now with the game being a very buggy alpha--if anything goes wrong, you've lost your cargo and your initial investment.
Some people find it boring, some people find it relaxing and enjoyable. If you're in the latter group, can still be worth it for you.
As a new person, it doesn't hurt to dip your feet into everything and experiment. Most systems in the game are pretty barebones right now, it'll all get much more in-depth later.
The Carrack is the 4th best hauler in terms of storage right now, so if you have 500k-ish seed money you can go ahead and try out with that now.
Air lock? Which floor is that on, and how do you get back up to the pilot seat? I still have to park the carrack as close as possible which takes a bit of time instead of just landing at the flattest piece of ground I see then taking the pisces in and out takes me about 30 seconds by now
Take the small elevator down to the sub deck, and instead of turning right into the vehicle bay, go straight across the corridor
Thank you very much. All the best and have a good one
I really, really doubt that getting in the pisces, flying to the terminal, parking that, getting out, selling, then getting back into it and having to park it back in the carrack before getting back into the carrack pilot seat is faster than just jumping out the airlock and running
or if you want to be fancy, get a Cyclone or hoverbike, open the vehicle bay door from the seat before you get out after landing, then take that ๐
Although, that said, there might be some ships that are faster to get in and out of than the Pisces that you could use for your method
damn it crashed again
its definately the command station doingit
going into QT there crashes it quite often it seems
Could just be the event. Servers are slammed. I was crashing too. Not even trying anymore. Events are always problematic.
Crash to desktop? Or ship crash
to desktop
How much ram you got
32gb ddr4
choke, like stutter a bit?
Yea
yes
Frame choke
it freezes, then goes back with lower fps then crashes to desktop
Increase your pagefiles
Crashing going into QT might not be specific to command station, I've seen that a few times myself. FWIW updating my graphics driver seems to have fixed it for me
Its overloaded memory
Too much info being buffered
Make sure you set your ssd as the only pagefile source and add 20gb to it
how high should i set it?
Then set minimum and maximum to 20,000
it says its currently 89,248 allocated
You will lose 20gb of space roughly, but that space will be buffer for your ram
Anything to do if you have a ship stored nowhere full of Cargo?
Screenshot me the current setting
its there above
the automatically manage paging file size was checked
god damn now i got infinite loading screen
Set it at 100,000 for minimum and maximum. And try increasing it if it keeps crashing. Assuming you have space
If after 110,000 it does nothing. Then it might be something else
define "nowhere"
how did you get into that state
Your C drive is a solid state right?
also you don't need 100GB page file, wtf
Clowe the game and reload
Wont hurt
Might need to let the load go for 10+min
Ctds tend to leave you ingame for a bit so it might still be logging you out
Whats your cpu and gpu btw
i5-12600k and 3080ti
honestly that's the biggest reason not to run cargo right now, the instability of the game
Check your fleet manager andnsee if ship is stored
4ยฝ hours work for 100k
are your graphics drivers up to date? I have a 3080ti that was having crashing/freezing issues a couple weeks ago, updated to latest drivers and haven't had an issue since
If you have new gpus always keep them uptodate
ye i have the latest
yeah my HDD was (:D)
Yeah fk that drive
Eeprom better
You can prob lower the reserve memory down to like 64,000 if things dont crash anymore
It might have just been using the D instead of C
thanks, ill restart the pc and see if it works better
if it says the ship is location unknown its gone right?
Ye
rip

wow someone in chat gave me the money i lost

two people even offered
maybe ill just jump around servers saying i lost my cargo and get rich quick
Now youre thinking
Nice!... I lost cargo money too... Think I might actually stop playing until 3.18 like I was planning on.
definately feels like more a rich person hobby than an actual job right now
Like flying AND gambling? You will love cargo hauling!
I don't mind hauling if it's in game things getting you
Not the server forgetting where it parked your ship
It's the risk..... Just nowhere near the reward..
AFAIK begging is by far the highest income activity currently in game
wiith no risk
I launched Star Citizen and almost immediately my whole PC shut down hard. wow.
yeah saw some dude get 3 mill today
but f that, id rather have some dignity
Power supply issue
i really wish i hadnt bought that damn blade yesterday
then i would have the c2 and the money to risk hauling
should i go with a lancet or a impact head for mining?
Lancet
All the power you will ever need is in the surge modules
Stability is more important for quant mining
im new to mining in general
Practice on random rocks but you want to mine quantainium, nothing else is really worth the effort
You want rocks with 20% or higher quant
isnt quant the one that can explode?
Also the minute you start collecting quant itll have a count down so you have 15 minutes to get your ship stored at the nearest station with refinery
It can go explode or go inert
There is a bug that makes the quant you mine look inert, ignore it
15min is plenty of time, just fully break down the rock before you start extracting
As long as you still have timer its fine
what should i do with the two other sub item slots?
Three
ive got a brandt in one
Can you actually use optimum and stampede simultaneously?
The other actives I tried could only be used one at a time
No , they each have contextual uses
Optimum is good on high quant rocks with super thin slits
If youre good with your control , stampede to finish off hard rocks
topkek some dude just payed me 1mil cause i found him in the spaceport hiding as an npc
If you suck woth control dont use stampede
now i can go back to cargo hauling
im new so i prob wont
Optimum is noob friendly and has more uses
You run stamp and go into red its bad juju
anything for passive items?
Dont need them
The lancet is super stable and reliable
You can use 1 slot for passive of your choice
If you insist
And then use surge and optimum
wheres the best place to roc mine and what am I looking for? My buddy and I are trying it out for the first time
Aberdeen (needs Pembroke suit/helmet), Arial, or Daymar
We'll do daymar, I fucking hate aberdeen
Its actually the richest moon ive seen
can the maxlancer fit a roc better than the base lancer?
Prob
Yes, definitely
Regular roc or the two man roc?
Max Lancer gives you room to walk on the sides
ok
regular
Cutlass can carry two ROCs as well
Park the first one in backwards, second one in forwards
Can my buddy pull out 2 rocs without it despawning both and/or his ship?
I gave him the money for 2 cuz I'm not at lorville
It has a bigger butt hold, so if it can fit in the base, it can fit in the MAX.
W
any ideas on my previous question?
I really just wanted to say butt hold, I didn't care that it was already answered ๐
^
lol
That one I don't know. I've actually never ROC mined before.
As long as he doesn't pull anything else out, and as long as you're not using a Constellation, yes
Max is 3
But note that only the owner can sell from it
If it's your first time trying, I recommend renting
Yes, although sometimes need to pull it out of the ship to sell
With how easy it is to make money, that isn't a big deal ๐
I've funded 5 of my buddies ships, he's brand new
you all need to get together and do combat beacons
Buy one a Carrack, it's the perfect starter ship for a new player.
great idea
fk mining
not that much money to play with
just get a crew ship and go blow shit up
we were doing bounties but he sucks at aiming
Skill issue
I also started him off in erts so I'll take the blame
beacons are more fun
true
and somewhat dangerous
but scarce
they are
I dont see many
they pop up A LOT on hurston
just jump from moons to everest
take the low ones and then all sudden moderate ones pop up and it keeps going
but never travel all the way to microtech or crusader
fk that sht
i hardly ever see them at hurston
in fact im here right now, cant see any
last time i was grimhex there were literally 9 beacons at the same time
move around they eventually pop
fk grim hex
fk all the asteroids
fk that gas planet
Is the disposal orinth place on Hurston safe and worth going to to sell cargo?
me everytime someone brings up Crusader or Microtech
Also, any tricks on how to know where to go for Grim hex?
I always find myself going in circles around
And it's super dangerous
trick is you dont
why do you need to go to grimhex
To sell illegal drugs
oh
its a miracle
didnt have to squeeze my balls between my cheeks to get into the hangar for once
dafuq you fly?
oh carrack
it aint that big
at least your reticle centered
C2 reticle is on the left side
-_-
I mean camera
its big when u get assigned that medium hangar
i make c2 fit on a rock if I have to
i made my first actual attempt of getting qaunt
did you blow up
How long does it take to sell 1000 widow at Grim hex?

fak
Like 2 hours?
upgrade your quantum drive to a grade A military
alwys break down your rocks before you start collecting
and most importantly, pre plot your course back before you start mining
i did but i lagged for a soild 3 or 4 mins
congrats now you can wait for 3.18
ep 3 of rings of power was disappointing af
no big revealations, just boring errands
shitty thursday
i hope they make pyro like Aliens movie
I want to be throat fked by egg laying spiders
It was probably bad because they talked about it in the wrong channel.
Max ships you can have out is 2, not 3
It's been three for a long time.
Just the other day, I tried multiple times to pull out 2 cyclones and put them into my cutty. Every time I called in the second cyclone, the cutty despawned
This was the day of the hotfix
do you own two cyclones?
want to take them on joyride and eventually blow them up?
That sounds like fun. When?
For an event or just to fuck around?
fk around
Yeah sure
want to get crime stats as well?
so when i ping the asteroids they wont actually scan, what am i fuckin up now?
That's just part of mining. Move on to another rock.
nvm i found some
No, bad advice. Use Spectre
Not sure what issue you were hitting, but it's always been 3 for me
anyone know the schedule for when JT starts selling the good drugs again?
I'm actually going somewhere to test it right now.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe the Cyclone MT itself is bugged somehow and counts as 2
But I'm definitely thinking bug as well. It's been three for so long I don't remember it being anything else.
But I've done Carrack +2 other things as well
Constellation (other than Taurus) I know counts as 2 due to the snub
If I sell my drugs and max out the demand on GH, does it really mean no one else can sell any?
That's so doomed
It's a fairly decent simulation of how things will be later when everything is one universe.
It will take forever to unload
yes
You can sell the event drugs a lot faster during that event.
So many drugs
ur ovwe here trying to make few hundred ks on drugs and some guy is making millions with exploits

How to exploit?
if it was common knowledge it wouldnt be a thing
Nah
What?
they make good enough money selling their cheaty money, they just go back with new account
CIG understaff, prob not enough auditors
i bought most the ships I wanted when they fked up the money
but afterwards people were throwing money at me
There was a recent reset though
Right after the 3.17.2 wipe they accidentally gave people who played in 3.17.1 a ton of money
If you managed to get online in the first 12 hours before they fixed it, you could buy a bunch of ships
I bought a Carrack with my "oops" money and fell in love with it
They should do another wipe then
I spent like 26 out of 54 mil
There will be another wipe in like 2-4 months
I sorta wish they would
but I know I will prob get all that money back in no time
also knowing how shitty most of the ships I bought were, Ill prob only have a handful of useful ones next go
cutty wont be among them, as much as I like the shi[
prob go straight for freelancer
Thats why I bought Prospector/Freelancer Max, so at least with wipe I can get on my feet somewhat with quant mining
Rental options are limited though
just gona be propector and gadgets
And some ships have awful starting equipment
great combo! I melted my Prossy but kinda miss it
eww, I'd rather ROC mine than have to use gadgets to do quant with a stock prospector
so uh when i get back to the refinery do i store my ship?
k
if you already landed, yes store the ship
For trading, is it worth getting the C2 Hercules over the Caterpillar?
It has more ship cargo space
In game or for real money?
dont waste your money buying C2 unless youre running drugs for an ORG
trading blows
In game
Yes, get the C2 if you want to trade, it has more space than the caterpillar and flies better for only a little more money
C2 is the best option right now if you want to do trading
ferron or dinyx, or does it not matter?
No, there's tons of stuff to trade
can do anything with C2
See thats what I was thinking. I had the cash to afford it. And figured I could just get straight to quant mining and skip past roc mining which imo isn't as worth it
Same yield, Ferron takes 1/3 as long as Dinyx for 2x the cost
cost is negligible
Titanium, Diamonds, Laranite, Med Supplies are all decent legal options
I usually do Dinyx for my first few loads, then switch to Ferron as I approach having enough to fill a hauler
There's no supply of laranite and diamonds though...
med supplies has somewhat limited quantity though, I wouldn't want to do that in a c2
You buy all the available laranite, fill the rest of the hold with titanium
do combat beacons inbetween bunkers or bounties for best monies
how much does a roc full of aphorite sell for and where do I sell it
not sure how much it sells for, but you can sell at any station admin terminal, or any mining outpost "Storage" building
thanks
nearest mining station planetside. Just land and sell at admin terminal
We found a cluster of 7 aphorite rocks and theres hella cscu of them
all mining outposts planetside has one
though you really risking it with a full ROC
30k
oh
if its a fresh server, its worth the risk, but I would not wait til its full
selling is so quick you can go right back to mining
just land and run to terminal
gotcha, thanks
surprise you dont just prospect mining
We both decided to learn roc first
time to prospect and realize you been wasting time ROC mining
i just finished my first quant run
On the topic from earlier, three ships.
oh oh now park the reliant on top of the carrack's hangar bay (closed) and see if it sticks during quantum
Not the best place to SS it, but I wasn't going to EVA too far lol.
I don't think it would fit lol, it's wangs are too wide.
it does have very large wangs.
the 890 allows you to dock small ships on its bow and QT with them
My PC started up okay and I was able to mine a gemstone no problems. logging off for now.
It won't fit in the bay, but it should fit on the bay
and as long as you don't open the door it should stick
won't store that way though
Gimme a sec, trying something different.
Is it bad to pad ram ppl with bounties?
Yes, and is actually bannable
Tried to rotate it and go the other way and nope.
damn
Thank you for the attempt, sad to hear
Yeah, pad ramming is practically the only way to get banned right now. That's how big of a problem it used to be.
Why pad ram when you can ship ram
Well, it was ship ramming, just while the other ship was still on a landing pad after spawning in.
Anyone know how are caves for ROC mining? Is it worth the trouble, other than the exploration of it?
There are some caves that ROCs can go in
All the caves ive been in have narrow and cliffy pasages
Sone have a wide entrance but ultimately they narrow where it matters
But in theiry caves do have a lot of hadanite
So if you manage to squeaze the roc into every crevice, yes its worth it
Yo when will we have derelict mining colonies infested with parasitic aliens
I want to roll in with a crew of miners and slowly lose my crew one by one
Are there ROC rocks in the bigger caves, or just hand mineables?
#anyone?
only the hand mine sized rocks in caves
where do i keep track of where i can get the most with my commodities
why cant i buy any laranite on latahn
Because it's been bought out already. Supply (and demand) are shared across all servers
Buy something else?
General advice is to buy all of the available laranite, and then fill the rest of your hold with titanium. If no laranite, just titanium.
is there a way to check if something is out of stock?
wbefore i waste my time going there at all
No
trading will be rough while Free Fly is on & everyone is flying around in a carrack
when will it reset
Never? Supply and demand both slowly tick up, it never "resets"
I tried this last night... Lost 900k to a crash and a failure to store my ship properly
what is the best thing to cargo right now
Looking for a additional miner if anyone wants to group up/ duos
you lose mining laser if you claim prospector??
i can't extract stuff out of rocks, any ideas? do i need to break the rock further?
is it yellow or purple?
yellow
then you need to break it further until its purple
kk thanks!
i guess hte mining head showed up?
hte?
the
im not sure what you mean
lancet mh1 all the way ๐
those final few rocks are tough
my first... well second qt rock
the bar wouldn't stop jumping
what does those sparks mean?
sometimes i see more sparks, sometimes fewer
So... put a lancet mh1 head on. It makes the green window bigger. Use surge, spampede, optimum modules to help
i use lancet already, + 3 vaux c3
For ever prospector you mine with the lancer makes the green optimal window 75% bigger when the laser is on the rock
eg 15 prospectors at 0% make a massive green section ๐
also having the power on a joystick axis (slider) helps massivly
then its 500k/hr profit or so
the hard part is trying to break > 7000 mass rocks
It's 500k a hour regardless if not more, just got 1 rock within 10 mins of scanning that will give me 300k
Chances of finding a 200k rock within the remainder of that hour is very high
Just use gadgets, i started using them today & they help a lot if you're solo
Sounds about right
From arriving on lyria to leaving with the rock i did that in about 15 mins, found the patch almost straight away, would have probably shaved more time if i had someone placing the gadgets for me ๐
No modules involved, Just a lancet head and boremax gadget x1
biggest i have broken by myself is like 8200 or so

A fully loaded Prospector with Quant is worth how much? I know it varies based on refining method but a close average...
269k or so
Whatโs the most mass youโre breaking with that setup?
Solo around 8k
starts to get kinda dodge over 7k or so
Can't lie i'm not one to count my high score but like mis said, 7k it start getting iffy
You need to be on the ball
yup anything > 6800 or so you really want a 2nd person there
You can however stack gadget as many as you want plus combine other ones & in addition to that add modules which makes most gadgets irrelevant if used correctly, test a bit of everything to see what you like
Solo with just a boremax and lancet? How do you get it into the green on higher mass rocks?
You mean in the optimal window?
I like to do low maintenance stuff.
Thatโs why it piqued my interest with your setup. Thatโd save me from buying 3 modules. Ya the optimal/green window
Yeah just add the gadget mate, Calibrate it to around 90%+ the higher the better, don't forget to activate it & yeah have at it, it may take a while & if you're only using 1 boremax on a 7k + rock it may seem like it's not working but just be patient
very tempted ot go mining now....
@meager gorge https://starcitizen.tools/Mining_gadget#:~:text=List of mining gadgets Name,Charge Window%3A ... 2 more rows
That will tell you what gadget does what
Be careful when combining different types or stacking, you can crate a deadly combination
https://uexcorp.space/mining This also helps knowing if a rocks even worth cracking, you might find 2 rocks that are only worth cracking if both are done, just add the rock mass in the mass section & the percent in that section, long as your (Mineral SCU) is close to 32 or higher then grab it
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
i guess mass is basically unit's? sso 50% of 5000 = 2500 or 25scu
Ive used them before. Thanks for the tips!
& If you ever want to know what you money will get prior to hauling its what ever the units are after refining for example (3100 Units x 88 = $$$)
This part you lost me
When you're at the refinery it will tell you how many units your load will produce
Take that number & x it by 88
that's how much credits you will make when you sell the refined quant at any location that buys it
Ok cool! Idk where you got 88 from but I Believe you and will try it
Wait is 88 how much quant goes for a unit lol
A guy told me here yesterday, i test it 3x & it was 100% accurate each time
Ok hahahah sounds good
I don't know the science i'm just passing on info that was relayed to me which i have test & is accurate, anything i have not tested i wouldn't pass on more or less ๐
https://sc-trade.tools/best-buyer Or if you're lazy just use this, type in your refined units & hit submit
Yes, current market price of 1 unit of Quantanium is 88 aUEC
And that, iirc is the set price across the whole Stanton system
Roger that
If you needed to sell it unrefined (not sure why) its 44 aUEC a pop
Do what you will with that info ๐
Did a full run of Titanium/Larantie/Diamond from Lyria last night, mid flight to ArcCorp my server 30k's and I end up waking up in grim hex
freaking out because I have like 400k worth of materials in the C2, go to the terminal and thank god it was there with the cargo in it. ๐ Fly it to Orison and end up selling it for nearly 700k
That's lucky...I did a very similar run in the free Carrack at Hurston. Stored the ship at lorville and it vanished
Lost 500k there, then tried again in the same way. Right after I pressed buy, 300k, game crashed
Not a 30k, my application.
yeah, I pretty much shit my pants. My buddy I was showing was like, "so it's just lost?" and I was like "probably ๐ญ "
Yeah...It's not fun
I love cargo hauling, but I don't want to lose my investment to game crashes or bugs...
Ship accidents and piracy is part of the loop...
A little salty about it....
Felt like it took me ages to earn that, and it's now just gone
Yep, that's why I typically just stick to bounties
Hey guys, can you actually make enough to make renting a Prospector worth it?
Since you can't change the mining head, it's not super profitable as you can't access the highest paying minerals, but you can still turn a profit.
Just keep in mind you'll also need something to haul the refined cargo after.
If you're going to rent a prospector, and you can find someone, get a buddy with a paid for Prosp. Go to Lyria and find some fatty boy rocks. You can both fill up pretty easily then
They can change the mining head then...
Otherwise, go out, fill up fast and sell it. Rinse repeat
you'd have to know what you're doing
gadgets can make rentals operate almost on par with custom prospectors
there is of course a little more effort and cost involved but consdiring how much you make and the time it takes to cut a rock, id say its worth
you can also stack gadgets on a single rock
after refining, yes
@cobalt rivet some big tips there. Gadget stacking on high mass rocks is where it's at.
still trying to figure out the values on the overview like what the relationship is between certain instability values and your mining head power or gadget/module influence
same for optimal and overcharge values
especially when the values change between scanning them and mining them.
Huh.... I've always shrugged off the gadgets.... Seems expensive for a one use
beggars cant be choosers, still better than ROC
once you own a prospector you dont need to worry about gadgets anymore
Bad luck mining lately. Twice I had a game crash with a full prospector of quant. And a third time my quant turned into inert material. That was last night. Hopefully today has more luck
they aren't a one use
you can pick them up again once the rock is cracked
did it turn inert during travel or when you checked at the refinery?
cause if it says inert while you are mining or during travel, its just a bug, its actually still quant
trust the timer not what the thing says
Game crashed while landing. Logged back in, was still in my ship giving over the pad with the unstable ticking over to a minute left. Landed, ran to store my ship but it got towed for parking violation. Payed it off, got my ship back and went to the refinery. When I was there I found it to be all inert.
if ship gets towed its technically stored
your mistake was calling it back
but in that particular case it was def inert
scratch that you have pay the fine
Yep. Wonder if it exploded and got towed at the same time. That could explain why it went intert but ship itself was fine
Doesnโt matter now. Just hoping my next mining trip is better. No some days are crash crazy others I have no problems. Yesterday was just a bad day I guess.
Free fly tends to lean more into crashes as the servers take more strain
Ahh that explains it. Maybe Iโll just do box missions this week.
difference in crash types
30k is connection crash (mainly server side), then there are client crashes which take you back to desktop
I had crash code 10k something last night and one client side.
The client crash I had last night was second after spending 300k on cargo
The only other place worth mentioning is the Aaron halo
where is that?
Because of the way scanning works
https://cstone.space/resources/knowledge-base/36-refinery-to-aaron-halo-mining-routes
Lyria is better though
i dont understand how the band stuff works
do I just start driving ship into space?
im confused
how im i suppose to do which way to go
The page tells you how in "route example"
This video also explains it, and how to scan once there https://youtu.be/wjzEYwMDQsY

how could i stop my q drive in that specific distance? or just close enough is fine?
Close enough is fine
Anywhere
How's the Halo for unscannable rocks these days?
Is mining on lyria still the best way to make money?
And brant surge and stampede modules are still good?
how much time do u have unti quant explode
about 14min
pretty horrendous last I checked
will be checkin in about 5
Had some unscannables on Aberdeen when Hadenite mining that made me a bit sad
someone last night gave me the link for all the ship data anyone still got it
it showed like max cargo crew guns ect ect
Hit 2-3 ghost clusters before I found a viable solo qnat rock
This one? https://www.erkul.games/live/calculator
no but it will help so thanks
just cracked a 7.5 k rock with rental and gadgets
_<
gadgets are def retrievable
and reuseable
Unless something goes wrong and they fall through the ground or just disappear
Too risky imo
plus, you need to re-apply gadgets (at least the Sabir) to every chunk you want to break, way too much effort
Is Lancet enough to break any asteroid in Aaron? 5122 mass. Without using active modules
Smallest ship that can effectively fit a base roc?
Yes
Nomad
bet
just make sure you shut off the ROC after parking it
Thanks!
You can't rent a nomad, but you can a Cutty Black. So for gem mining your initial fee will be about 60k ish..
Cutty Black
ROC
Pembrook suit and helmet
But you're making that back in half an hour.
Only need the Pembroke if you're on Aberdeen
I swear, if it isnt 0% charge in the red zone the rock always destroys my ship
Even if I move away
FYI, putting boxes by hand in the rear cargo of the 315p had a chance of bugging the boxes, either making them unable to be picked up again, or getting stuck to your hand after picking it up.
I frickin knew this, wrote an issue council report on it, then forgot and did it again anyway ๐
