That hasn't been working this patch. It's been really iffy trying to get into a server with someone.
IF THE C2s are gone, peace out
It seems now that SoO is offline the Halo is popping again. 47% 5.1T rock juicy
Is that website any cool for trade ? https://uexcorp.space/
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
Yes
Why is there "frost" on the bottom window of the Mole? Is it possible to clear up? CTRL-X does not help as it's on the ship. The side turrets dont have it.
The scanner seems really buggy now? It scans for 70% then aborts. In a mole that means I have to change seats to check rocks so surveying takes forever now. Any tips?
best mining spot for quant?
@cinder solstice repairing fixes that
I've repaired plenty of times? I guess I'll see. I just did a repair now. 🙂
Great news to hear
Lyria
Can u store gear in a Ptv
When things settle down, Aaron's Halo is also good
anyone wanna go mole mining with me hmu in dms
no 😦
Cyclone it is
Hmm, should i change the guns on my prospector to distortion...
Wish Drake or Argo would make a 1man mining ship like the prospector, i love the undistrial style 🙂
Can you make any real profit with a stock prospector I want to rent one but I know without the proper upgrades it can't mine quant or stuff like that
And I don't yet have enough money to buy one
if you dont have enough money yet you can either hand mine in caves, or rent a ROC and a ship that can fit it and mine on Aberdeen
Got any buddy thats mining and able to break rocks for you?
Oh I already own an ROC plus a m2 to carry it I just wanted to know if stock prospector was viable
if you have a second person in a prospector stock or not you can mine any rock in the game
Not for QT, no
Haven't tried it myself, but I bet it would be possible if you used gadgets to make up the difference
Yesh, dont want to see two stock prospectors trying the instability of QT rocks
Can't use those on a rented prospector
Gadgets, not modules
OHhhh yeah those
would be a pain
Not sure if the gadget is enought tho
people go crazy over quant, but you can make some really decent money with a stock prospector finding, mining and refining Bexalite and Taranite if you dont want to deal with the unstableness
Yeah that would be more my type of mining im not exactly into the whole mine one rock and scurry away back to a Lagrange point or blow up type deal
yeah i make about $80ish an hour so far with that method
Stock laser is Arbor MH1, 1850 pwr/s, no bonuses or maluses
Lancet MH1 is 1400 pwr/s, -30% catastrophic charge, -75% instability, -30% optimal charge rate, +40% optimal charge size, -75% resistance, -50 shatter damage
The two that really matter are the instability and resistance, which you could theoretically match with a BoreMax and a Sabir at the cost of a slower optimal charge rate and a smaller window
How much exactly?
Might not need the resistance one with the higher power of the Arbor
all depends on how much inert you suck up with the ore and refining method you go with
@smoky remnant i made a VC if you want to rent a prospector and mine to see how it works
Oh I wasn't going to rn I was just asking for when im gonna get on later
👍
Problem is the imbalance, QT worth is 2x the value of the nearest option
True - but i dont want to be put in a rush that if i dont get it to a refinery in time ill explode to grind for an extra 6 figures / hr...esp with another wipe coming 3.18
I assume thats for ejecting your cargo?
You can eject cargo from the pilot seat
welp
got disconnected while in ship
rip those modules
actually I think they were just active
Is mining in the Halo better now? And did they fix the modules despawning on the prospector after reclaiming it?
quantanium mining specifically
nope, was "stored" on "lyria" but let me retrieve from arc l1
nope
modules still delete at reclaim
not sure if that's a bug or what but passive or active, they're gone when you reclaim
Do you have to reclaim always after you've stored a ship, refinied it's cargo, then unstored it?
nope that's retrieve and I've not had the issue of retrieving deleting modules
only when i have to file an insurance claim
yes
that was likely a 30k then (server crash)
Based on what people have said, how good Halo mining is seems to be directly related to whether Siege of Orison is running or not.
Siege running? Don't bother in the Halo.
Siege not running? Halo is fine.
I had an issue the other night where after I landed at ARCL1, the asop saw my ship in hangar 04, but my only option was to claim it instead of storing. I ended up getting my load refined and logging out and back in. Ship was stored and it kept it’s modules.
has the hauling meta changed at all with the release of this update?
what is the schedule for it?
Starts in about 2 hours, alternates days with Jumptown
cheers
You can't load them into the cargo area, but you can load them into the ships inventory, which wouldn't allow you to load them into the missile rack on the go unless you're at a station/city
Am I not able to load part of a refined shipment into a ship? Like I fit one shipment into my cuttyblack but couldn't even put part of the next one cause there wasn't enough room, so I was hauling a half full cutty
Is there a work around to this?
I believe it's either all or none, there's no some here, some there
for each load
Is prospector mining fixed yet?
I've never done it before because I was always told it was bugged, so whats why I'm asking 🙂
ah yea, you can def go and mine with it, the aaron halo is buggy at the moment though
buggy in the sense that rocks aren't scannable/mineable (in the halo)
enjoy!
That sucks, hopefully they fix that, would be helpfull for people with smaller hauling ships
friend of mine had the red alarm bug on their prospector
they managed to store it just in time and saved the load
I guess the game does not want me mining then...
startled me
Any tips on finding quantanium btw?
I hear from several people Lyria is a good place to look for it, but I didn't have any luck finding it in the 20 minutes or so I was scanning around before that happened
what's the deal with not being able to scan rocks for mining in the halo
I've personally not been to the halo myself yet, I've seen many here talk about it though if you scroll through
Just can't scan them
If you can't scan them, ya can't mine them
I've run into the type of 'unscannable/unminable' rock before, hopefully its' only on the halo on this patch ...
so is it better just to mine at lyria?
indeed, unless you want to try your luck
there's always a bit of luck
It seems to me that the most time I have trouble scanning rocks is when they visually have quant in them
which makes it even more annoying
so RNG is always an aspect, but I personally zoom in my scan tool all the way, set it to 179*, and I fly around on lyria with my mining tool out to better highlight things an scan frequently
What does zooming it do?
I.... admittedly have no idea
I just copied that from someone else
it may even be useless
like the overclock function for the lancet (you can visually activate overclock but it does nothing)
zooming it gives it further range
but you have to be very precise with your aim
For a better explanation, watch the scouting guide video by cross in the pin here
excellent guide on how to find rocks
It's not a bug and it doesn't need to be fixed. The refinery doesn't want to hang on to half your load.
Cutlass Black is a poor choice for hauling Prospector loads for that reason
Freelancer (or Freelancer MAX) are the better options for that
Fair point, It's just an unnecessary inconvenience for newer players trying to grind to get a bigger hauling ship. It does validate the need for a bigger one
Would you prefer a freelancer over a C2 or raft?
i mean the C2 instantly wins XD
c2 has more space
You can always stack up a bunch of loads then rent an Andromeda (can carry 3 loads) for a day to haul
but if you want some help, i do have a Caterpillar and an Andromeda and could help you actually get that stuff shipped
I might take you up on that
i've debated pleging a dedicated hauler but they're all just pricy and I think a GPU is a better investment in priority
Those are... Very different ships.
Freelancer is entry level multirole, like Cutlass
C2 is end game multirole.
RAFT is low-mid level cargo only
i might not even ask for any money. At most like 15%. Im just in it for the fun lol
Buy Taurus in-game
gotcha, so freelancer is a good first step
Also, are there pirates on lyria that come kill you when prospecting? Or was that cause I entered a restricted area for about 5 seconds upon entering
I didn't have a cs or anything
if you need anything right now ill be free in like 20 minutes. Just doing some deliveries for shits and giggles and to get an excuse to use my cutty
Pirates can happen anywhere
I dont have enough to make it worthwile rn, but I may later
I wouldn't worry about pirates right now. Everyone is poor
Ik, it's just never been thing on lyria
at least for me, so I was just wondering if I did a bad thing
I bought a Hull A because it hauls two loads
doing box missions
and it's really nice inside
ty
Restricted bunkers have turrets that shoot at you. They're automatic
If you need money to get you started up then i also dont mind showing you how to trade. You can make around 100k off every run
Would upgrading my game package from cutty black to freelancer be viable? Or should I keep the cutty black for it's beginning versatility
I might take you up on that actually, i'm not online rn but I've wanted to try trading aswell as mining
Always liked the industrial side of games like this
that depends on how you want to play the game. If you really want to get into hauling and trading, then that might be worthwile for a bit at least. Personally, I would try to upgrade to the Constellation Andromeda or Taurus since that would help you get more money out of each trading route, but the freelancer aint all bad. The nice thing about the andromeda is that it doubles as a gunship so you can also get into bounty hunting with that thing if you would like. I have taken it out and done some bounties with it just by myself and it works out well
is the Orphanage dangerous for a Hull A?
oh wait, shoot I bought a Connie Taurus with all the free money
AND a C2
silly me
Hmm, is there any site for checking distance between locations?
You can rent the normal Freelancer in game to see how you like it compared to the Cutlass.
I'd say that for just about everything except cargo hauling, the Cutlass is better than the Freelancer base, and the Freelancer isn't really enough better at cargo to be worth it I think.
Freelancer base is also worse than the Cutlass at ROC mining since the bay is so narrow.
The Freelancer MAX ($150), on the other hand, carries 120 SCU (almost 4 full prospector loads) and is a pretty solid option if you want to lean more heavily into industry, but it will be worse than the Cutlass at combat and more inconvenient to use for things like ground missions because of how poorly it flies.
The next step up from that is the Constellation Taurus ($190), which at 174 SCU can carry 5-6 prospector loads and has enough firepower to do VHRTs well, although it is more unwieldy than the other two.
All of the above can be purchased in game, and I'd definitely recommend doing that before you upgrade your package. You really can't go wrong keeping the Cutlass as your package, it's a very solid ship to start in post-wipe.
Anyone know what's going on? I keep finding Hadanite to mine with my ROC on Daymar, unload my ROC only to find that there's no rock to mine ...?
twice in a row
It's also worth noting that in the current state of the game, pretty much anything other than the Carrack, Caterpillar, or C2/M2 will make less money per hour trading than you could earn just by ROC mining with a rented cutlass, so...yeah
The rock is completely gone, or it shows as there but isn't mineable?
That's not something I've seen before
Not even showing up when ROC is in mining mode?
nothing
tab with the ROC, pull the arm out, nothing
found a 3rd garden of rocks, thankfully this one is still here .... so weird
The 1st time, I thought, maybe an incoming 30k, but nothing came. Just my normal bad luck, but then a 2nd time came.
I've seen ghost rocks before that scan and show up on the HUD but when you try to mine them they're not really there, you can drive right through them, but never had them disappear like that
maybe you landed on them with your ship and squished them (is joke, that's not a thing...I think)
They ghosted me alright lol
Is the Impact I mining laser good for mining quant?
lancet
I have the lancet but I can’t break rocks over like 5500 mass
I got a few of the modules and none of those did anything
yes, that's what modules are for--surge/stampede
Impact is a terrible idea for quant since it actually increases the instability--although you could potentially use the Sabir mining gadget to offset that
anything over ~5k requires modules
it takes some learning
watch some videos if you're having troubles
Red Monster has lots of guides on youtube
Just invited ya to his disc as well
Ok sweet thank you
How good is a prospector pledge? I have the tali which I’m realizing is probably not the right ship for me, and it’s just 5 dollars to just switch to having a prospector always
Oh, I mean if you want to be a miner, definitely swap for the prospector
depends on your type of play you want
Prospector prints money if you like mining.
Retaliator can print money if you like running ERTs over and over again.
I don’t really bounty hunt, and I also found out that I won’t be able to use turret blades to make it a solo gun ship. It’s the only large ship I own and was a good price. Was hoping for it to be like a mobile base once it’s modular but who knows when that may be
yeah, if you're not using it as a gunship with friends and you don't run bounty missions, not much point to it now. The only reason I might keep it would be because (given how much the Retaliator Bomber costs) I wouldn't be surprised if the Retaliator Base goes way up in price
I would get something you can enjoy using now rather than hang onto something for years to see if it gets useful for you
Yah that’s probably the most logical thing to do
watch them jack the price way up at IAE right after you upgrade it 😄
Yah. I could just wait for IAE as well. But that’s months away
Up to you, sit on it waiting or start using something you enjoy now
I’m going to upgrade to a prospector, then save for a 400i which can work like a mini home for me to explore places like pyro. Think that maybe my best move going forward
Prospector upgrade achieved.
Why do I have the feeling that ROC mining is easier, faster and probably more profitable than quantanium mining?
Where is the best place to mine bexalite if I don’t want to deal with quantanium tonight?
That’s been my experience starting out with a prospector but I’m learning
def easier to ROC mine but quant is way more profitable
A full prospector is worth 250k
once you get it down at least
Which is not guaranteed evrrytime
Use !tradetools to find out where the best places are
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
- you have to wait and refine it before selling it
If you prioritize hadanite on the roc you get 255k worth of gems
I'm personally not familiar with bex
I have filled up my prospector much faster than any roc mining expedition.
Where do you mine?
I’ve been in the halo and had good luck. It seems to be different for everyone
Ahh forgot how nice the prospector is. Feels like home. A cutlass maybe useful, but a misc ship feels like home
Only if you have awful prospector luck. It's at least an hour to fill up a ROC even if you're reasonably lucky, you should easily be able to do at least one prospector trip in that time
I guess I'm jinxed
What station do you guys do you set your respawn point for mining quant on Lyria?
Right now I’m at ARC-L1 Wide forest station
how long is the cooldown for trade limits? like if I sell the max amount at the orphanage, how long is it until I can sell more
What should I do if I’m constantly getting bad rocks.
In Aaron’s belt using a prospector
anyone need a scout i will scout and you pay me if you like the rock
Is halo quant mining working or is it only surface mining right now?
Easier yes, but definitely not faster. Can average about 250k with a full ROC, but sometimes takes 1-2 hours or longer. Quantanium, finding a single good rock, mining and returning to refinery can be as little as 20 minutes.
i mean it kinda is faster since you have to wait a lot longer to sell
what are the best attachments for the prospector
ok well im not going to fly 48,000,000 km to get a surge so any replacements?
you can use stampedes but itll cost you a couple to make the same progress as a surge
especially on high res rocks
i know its a little late but asteroids are glitchhed
havent had issues finding q, l or m rocks
4/4 runs found them all
between 10-20 minutes
where?
aaron halo between arc and hurston
yeah everytime i go there the aestorids are ghost rocks
there are ghost rocks for sure, but if you know what you're doing you can just ignore them
.>
can you teach me the ways then?
set speed limiter to 400mps, set your scanner to 90 deg fov, switch to mining mode, scan every 15 seconds
when a minable rock comes into that fov and its close to you, itll show up on your scanner
stop and look around for it
itll be highlighted gold
trust the mining head
it never does you wrong
ignore the blinking rocks
pay attention to your scanner
only slow down when scanner says a rock type
you can sorta fly towards the square rock markers to get in proximity but never bank on it being the one
it just guides you in a good direction
jeez thats alot
is this your first time mining?
so i should be good if i run 3 stampedes
itll eventually connect in your head after a few runs
nah ive made like 1.4 mil off of it
ill scout rocks for people 75k a rock if you like it
just fyi, a surge will push through almost any res
yeah but again
a stampede goes by force multiplier
where im based they dont sell surges
make one trip and buy a fk ton of surges
i tried that
except i cant move them around in between ship and station inventories
breh, they are small you can fit them in a cutty or titan
no
literally
the game hard blocks me from moving any module between any inventory
i cant even pcik it up off the ground
if i drop it
i keep all my mining stuff in the ref station so when I go out I have what I need
I only go out with what the ship can carry
can you hop in a vc?
no
ok then let me do my best to explain this
my game
does not
let me move modules between inventories
so for example if i buy a bunch of modules at hur l1
put them directly into my ship inventory
and fly all the way to arc l1
(my home base btw)
the game wont let me take the module out of the ships inventory and put it into the inventory of the space station
idk what to say, contact helpdesk
thats a personal detriment
game shouldnt do that to you
but statistically its prob you
ive checked everywhere
doing something dumb
so i could screen share and you can see if im doing sumn wrong
you dont need to talk
just watch and text
ok
check pms
you give me flashbacks to when I worked help desk
go buy a shit ton of surges
at PO
above Orison
preferably in another cargo ship, not your mining ship unless you wanna get killed and lose all your modules
I am intrigued and scared at the same time
It’s late so can’t. Though good news cross, I did the smart move and upgraded my tail Pledge to a useful prospector. I’m officially all set for mining after any wipe with a cutlass and prospector now.
@cobalt rivet u still up man
🛌
does roc mining work fine at the moment?
is there a reason i keep getting a failed transaction message when trying to sell at Grim Hex?
trying to sell some cargo but it wont let me
relog
Yes
I'm try to start trading and I have a cat what I should start with?
Do you have a big float to start with?
Ok so starting small. No biggie. How did you earn up to the cat?
I got it when they give us all theat milions lol
Ahhh :) initially I'd suggest running Scrap
ok I'm at A18 they sale scrap where to slae it tho?
Well, you can use sc trade tools to see where things are bought and sold.
Scrap is nice because there's no major planet stops
did the server just go down
nop not here
!tradetools
14k is really not enough to start trading effectively
One-stop-shop for everything trade related in Star Citizen: best trade routes, best mining spots, etc.
@wary tuskthanks
Is there a market for Illegal cargo? I see there are some for sale at The Orphanage, but I don't know if it's sellable?
What's the recommended QT mining at the moment? Many channels seems to recommend asteroids instead of moons
I prefer Lyria over asteroids
can i retrieve a roc full of cargo after a 30k?
Sadly roc doesn’t have 30k protections so no.
Next time you 30k go to a mining station on the moon you were mining on and go to the fleet terminal and check where your roc is
If it gives precise location, there is a chance it got stored in that location, fly to that fac and retreieve your roc
Rocs can only be called from a mining fac, so chances are they may be stored in one if 30k
be me
spend 30 min on daymar looking for hadanite/laranite
finally find cluster
10 or 15 juicy hadanite chunks
land
get in ROC
drive over to first rock
immediately 30k

So maybe a new cargo ship on the way? Latest monthly update mentioned white box on a announced ship with a habitation and cargo hold.
be me
30k'd a while ago after spotting the juiciest cluster of hadanite
feelsbadman.mp4
decide to give planet mining another shot
go to arial
spend 2 and a half hours mining, fill ROC all the way with hadanite
"IM GONNA BE RICH!"
go to mining outpost to sell
take the tiniest glimpse of the buy/sell kiosk
30k
:(((
im not mining again until the game releases ffs
Good trading/freight ship for 1.8 mil? Could save and get one a bit more expensive if worth
Freelancer max is probably the best at a little shy over 2 million. There is the raft but the max has the better cargo capacity
Another vote for the Freelancer Max, also doubles as a ground vehicle carrier
Okay thanks
How big of an initial investment to make trading worthwhile? Currently doing SoO and HRTs
been a while since I've mined (like pre-refineries) anyone suggest some good places to mine with a prospector or ROC?
ROC I’d suggest Aberdeen if you have or can get the pembroke suit. As for prospector mining, I like calliope, but lyria is usually the go to for quant
Lots of thanks for helping with that info 🙂 thank you very much I'll be sure to check the places out o7
could someone possibly explain what the modules are? thats new to me as well. sorry for asking so much but i think that might be last one
Trade, as it stands, only favors the largest of ships. So in all honesty, if you wanted to do trade as a profession, you will need a Hercules C2, Carrack or CAT. The Freelancer MAX, as mentioned by WintersHuntsman, offers the most economical cost per SCU in the entry level ships. But 120 SCU isn't going to make you financially independent
You can look at mining until you earn enough aUEC to buy a real cargo ship
alright thanks for the tips
i tried mining but i didnt enjoy it
earning decently from doing SoO atm
understandable. The help beacons seems to also be a good earner to look at
they escalate nicely in earnings
different world from the days of mine it and sell it at Levski, etc. The meta for Prospector laser head is no longer the Helix but the super cheap, super weak Lancet (yep, makes perfect sense). The biggest change from then that you'll need to polish up on will be the all new Ping and Radar operation. ROC mining is in a good place. Aberdeen is the spot so grab some Pembroke armor (like Winter said). For Prospector looking for Quantainium, Lyria and the Halo. Halo is suffering from a lot of dud scans at the moment. Also seems CRU-L2-B might be a good spot also.
The Refineries is where it all happens for miners now.
The Refinery Store is pretty stocked and super handy
why i s the lancet so good?
CIG just wanted to kill the Helix
but what makes it better?
You can mine Quantainium with a 20K laser head. It has buffs that the Helix use to have. The Helix got massive debuffs to make it almost worthless. I used it for the longest time after that but it was so darn easy to mine Quan with the Lancet that I stopped fighting it
interesting thanks that makes more sense now I guess I'll have to sell the helix back and get the lancet then
thank god for selling things these days but dang the refund is awful
with the lancet would any modules work better than others?
the Lancet has incredible stability but low power, Surge can help get through the initial break quicker
there are pinned notes at the top that might help also
Also, there are a couple of groups doing cooperate mining that might help you get back in the saddle faster. One group I can recommend if interested. They pay out equally to all participants.
I might be interested in checking it out
@thin escarp if you could introduce yourself and the team to DeadGaming here. Thanks!
Hasn't mined since the "old days" before refineries, etc
Vaux C2, stampede and surge can break any rock in the game. With a bit of skill, dont use surge on rocks below 4500
Hur L1 for surge, Arc L1 for other 2
From CIG: The 1 million aUEC started rolling out this morning, keep an eye on your wallets for it!
Anyone know if mining is bugged? My friends trying to mine rn and his laser isn't doing anything, it's not even showing the usual stats of the rock despite it showing a rock when he presses tab
Has he activated mining mode?
Like pulled out the mining laser?
Yes
If so yea
The beam was going through the rocks
And it wasn't giving a detailed info on the rock
Oh I haven‘t heard of that before
When he goes back I'll SS it
He logged out to see if that'll help
I've never had that issue as well
At work but happy it’s rolling out. Though sorta don’t need it now that I have a pledge as a prospector😅
This is a rented prospector, if that matters
Hello, I've got a Freelancer MAX but from what I understand hauling cargo isn't that profitable, would it be smart to turn it in and get a prospector instead?
Unscannable rock, it happens
Seems to happen more while Siege of Orison is running from what people are saying
MAX can do more than just haul cargo--it's a great ship for ROC mining if you want to do that, and it's a great choice for taking refined Prospector ore to market (you'll need a hauler of some kind for that anyway)
Cargo refactor is also coming later this year theoretically, so cargo might become more worth it then
All rocks didn't scan, not just a few
Yes, when it happens it happens to the entire cluster
So what's the play? New server or new area?
This was planetside MT
Keep scanning until you find something that isn't unscannable
Like I said, lots of people have been reporting finding unscannable clusters this patch, and it seems to be worse while SoO is running
@regal hare yes
you cant break shit ina rental
but if your in the halo
its probably a ghost rock
Can't break as in the head isn't good enough, or can't break as in rentals are bugged
Okay, that wasn't my issue. Ghost rocks were the problem
I already know rental is shit lol
This one is at least showing the laser hit
@ivory gust
"scan results" on the right is empty, that's not a real rock if it doesn't show details there
Yes. You can tell from a distance what's bugged by doing a low-angle scan ping in mining mode, so you don't waste time with unscannable clusters
Just because it has an icon doesn't mean it's minable. That's the dud issue that everyone is talking about
Lights are on but nobody is home
can you refine quant at ARC-L1's refinery?
Yes. Probs the most popular spot
fellas, all of my quant just got turns into inert material after i stored. what do i do?
Shouldn't ahve done
Is it saying inert in the refinary terminal?
no, i thought maybe i retrieve and then store, but it only let me claim, so i went to the prospector to put it in another hangar, checked on cargo, no volatile cargo light, all the quant is gone, only inert now
no, i didn't claim it obviously
yh, it's likely the act of pulling it out and putting it back away again possibly broke it
The better alternative would have been to try and go to a different server
i had to, i couldn't select it for refining
i did
twice
what's the best place to mine with a rented prospector?
Aaron Halo
and how does one get to said asteroid belt?
Go to CRU-L1, start traveling towards ARC-L3 and once your 11.5-12mill Km away hit 'u' to cut your power
Press 'r' and watch the belt spawn in around you as your ship powers back up 😄
alright, i'll head to the other end of the system, i'll report back once i've left CRU-L1
best place is actually ARC-L1 to CRU-L4, puts you in belt five of iron halo, at about 14.29m from CRU-L4
But this way you have a pretty short route back to CRU-L1`
that's true
Plus CRU-L1 has the +6% quant refinary bonus 😄
i ain't mining quant, don't own the prospector
oh my gosh i just got 30k'd
You can technically quant mine with a rented
Just takes a while
i don't really have the attention span, nor the time for that
no, i mean, the more you overcharge the less you get from the rock
??? Again, no? With a rented prospector, or a stock irl owned one, you can crack up to 4.6k quant rocks of 24% or less
Yes, if you overcharge you can lose yeild, but you wont overcharge in a rended/stock
for newbies yes, because optimal range is so small
well, this conversation got heated fast.
That's what happens when your passionate about it, yh 😄
so long as the rock is under 4.6k in mass and 24% quant amount inside, you should be able to crack it with a rented/stock
i think you overestimate the skill of some people
including mine.
Perhaps. I'm not talking about the skill, just the potentialities 😄
ok 😄 sounds fair😄 might 😄 try 😄 it 🗿 myself 🙃
Yeesh, you good there bud?

I am arriving at ARC-L1
holy crap gs to arc l5 +14% yela
Huh?
do i lose my lancet every time my ship dies
No
Shouldn't do
Modules on the Lancet, yes
Both active and passive are lost on ship death or claim
alright, so I'm at ARC-L1, do i rent the prospector or not?
Wait, did you not get your 1mil?
i did but i was a fool
What did you do?
I've got a tuned reliant tana now.
I didn't have that much to begin with
Well, I guess your primary money income is gonna be in combat now then 😄
But you could have worked up to it
I still personally reccomend CRU-L1 instead
But if your happy with ARC-L1, then go ahead
I'd have to go to area 18 anyway to sell the refined minerals, orison sometimes won't load for me
Better yet, go Lorvile
I always find it easier to sell there
does it pay better?
Exactly the same and is technically closer than both ArcCorp and MicroTech
I'll rent the prospector at ARC-L1, do a round of mining in the halo, refine at CRU-L1. Sound good?
like i said, I'm not doing quant
This is why I reccomend CRU-L1 to ARC-L3
I'm way too incompetent for that
oh
dude, this is like my third time doing this
Nahh bro, quant is just the same as normal mining, just with a slight timer
i will detonate
Only if your too slow
Basically, crack everything first, then scoop it up
Trust me, quant mining is the only mining
i can't believe I'm going along with this
dew it
Fine, I'll fly to CRU-L1
😄
I will be sending a bill if the prospector blows up
wait
i just realized i have no way of moving the refined minerals from the station to a TDD
my bottom line's gonna be worse :(
my friend, i have 450k
rental is under 30k for 24 hrs. Wait until you have about 15 or more refinery jobs
Alright.
With that many you will have enough to go buy a Freelander MAX after that
you can stack Unlimited refinery jobs
i do have been saving for a fatlancer
if you're stacking multiple refinery jobs to haul, and renting to haul, better to rent a Freelancer or Constellation Andromeda since they can carry multiple prospector loads
nah, too slow and has the boring normal scanner. Other ships can detect gems from farther away and are more maneuverable (Valkyrie, MSR) but cost a lot more
Carrack is really the best ROC transport, since it's got the medbay to res at when you forget to put your helmet back on after having a snack
2800 meter detection is perfect, best Hydrogen recovery in game, never have to buy fuel. Wide ramp, small foot print you can land anywhere, etc
I've mined with the ROC in all the ships you mention, the MAX was what I settled on.
Valk is pretty good also
i suppose it's personal preference
5100 scanner covers like 3x the area
then you are also confusing them with large deposits
no, because you're also seeing the large deposits from further away
I am in QT and traveling towards the halo
I am in the halo
so, if i find a quant rock, do i just crack one?
Try cracking it
If you can crack the first part, you can crack the rest of it down
I'm gonna try to find one first
Crack it all to purple, and then scoop
Yh, your looking for Q-types. Keep hunting, you will find some eventually
uhh
Try giving it a love tap with the laser
2.10 and 2.30
Mass of each?
Give them a shot
Alright
Your first loads wont be all that perfect, so dont fret 😄
I'll see if I die.
Nahh, you should be fine 😄
Yup
Quantainium can be a tricky little thing
But you shoulf get the hang of it pretty quickly 😄
someone learning the fine art of Q mining?
This is very stressful
nah once u get used to it its great. make big money too
sounds like u got the basic idea of it. if you want finer pointers id be glad to show ya. im a stay at home dad and spend most of the day mining in the halo listening to audio books and making sure the kiddos dont kill each other
sounds like a plush life
could deff be worse
the margin is quite thin here
?
This is kinda shit with a rented prospector
ya rented sucks u really need a Lancet MH1 mining head and you cant edit rented but it is doable
I have detonated two of the only quant subfragments
am i able to sell the hydrogen from the starfarer tanks to stations?
is cargo still only 10% profit
last cargo run i did i made around 110k profit but i invested like 520k in the load to fill my c2
if i was to fill a freelancer max how much porift could i make
damn, i wish I had a C2
worth or not
how much scu does it hold?
120 if i remember correctly
the only thing i would be scared of though is crashing which i dont do alot but its still apossabilty
yh 120
hmm well the c2 has 696 scu so it wouldnt be nearly as much profit
@glacial dagger i'm honestly not finding this quant stuff worth it with a rented prospector
would i be able to make good money if i just mined standard minerals?
cargo is good money but it relly needs a bigger scu capacity ship to make it worth it
depends on what your idea of good money is i guess
mmm not quickly
define quickly
well an example would be the prospector has 32 scu and 32 scu of say tungsten would net you around 7k? refined around 12k?
so it would be a slow climb
you would have to look up the didfferent minerals to see what each sells for
I'm going for bexalite and taranite, not tungsten
ok bexalite would sell for ruffly 65k unrefined
thats assuming you have 100% bexalite
32 scu of it
Which isn't gonna happen. But I'm still going for it.
even if you made 50k a run it would add up over time
The problem is that mining anything other than quant with a prospector is basically worse than just using a ROC
just slowly
Abardeen still best for bexalite?
Is ROC mining currently bugged or nah
hasn't been for a while
Ok because yesterday when I was playing, this one server would not let me mine anything
huh
what were you trying to mine?
The ROC laser went through all the of the mineables and drive through them as if they were not there
Ghost rocks, happens sometimes
Also, I was just able to crack a 4931 mass 25% quant rock in the Halo using the stock mining laser, a Boremax, and a Sabir. Cannot recommend, was painful
always scan the rocks before you unload the ROC, if you can't scan them, you can't mine them
so uh...aren't you supposed to be able to get gadgets back after using them? THey seem to be just gone
is cargo/trading worth it and/or a good way to make credits? and if so is the one of the freelancers or constellations better for that?
Cargo/trading is only "worth it" in the Carrack, Caterpillar, and C2/A2
oh ok thanks, what is the constellation andromeda for example good at right now?
Bounty missions, particularly with friends
It's a very good all-rounder
You can run cargo with it but you won't make very much money
oh ok so if i only play solo a smaller fighter like gladius or hornet would be better for combat? and is the caterpillar a good solo ship?
Constellation series is actually top tier for higher bounty missions even solo due to its impressive pilot firepower--it's a matter of personal preference whether you want something big like that or something smaller/more maneuverable
Caterpillar is a decent cargo hauler, and is fine solo for that. It's not a combat ship. It's unfortunately currently outclassed by the C2 for hauling, but that will hopefully change with the cargo refactor
ok thank you very much for your time and help ill have to give some thought on what you said to think about what to save my credits for then
Also, if you're going to be solo, consider the Constellation Taurus instead--it's less expensive, has a larger cargo hold (174 SCU vs 96), and has no real disadvantages if solo
thanks ill look into that
also before i invest into a cargo ship, can someone explain how cargo/trading works and is ther a site with the best places to buy and sell at like elite dangerous has?
you go to an outpost or station and buy minerals or product form them however much you choose then travel to another location where that is in demand and sell it at a higher price. there is a website that gives you best travel and trading routes based onw hat it is your trading
@lime nova you cant break quant with a rental
i'd roc mine until u have enough to buy and kit it
sc-trade.tools/trade-routes is a good website for cargo
@hearty girder I like this site for looking up commodities and trading routes: https://uexcorp.space/commodities:AGRI
Mining Calculator, Trade, Prices, Risks, Profitability, Mass to SCU Converter, Ships List, SCU, Prices and more
Is the mole fixed? and can i use it solo for quant mining?
Have confirmed you can still valet park your Prospector with the new hangars (tried at CRU L1)--just need to hover close enough to the door. Probably safer than risking a landing considering how many have said they exploded on landing
Technically possible with gadgets (I just tried). Definitely don't recommend, though. I lost the gadgets after the initial break, too
Yes it's fixed, but it's kind of tough to use solo
I have one main desire for mining
give me a ship-tool tractor beam like the multi tool one
I want to be able to move things out of the pile
can storing a ship with refined materials just delete them?
I did that, had to step away so stored and logged, came back and flew down to planet... ship is empty according to trade terminal
I know the ship had not been blown up or claimed in that time
well i figured out the issue
it's in the first iteration of my rental... how
what do i do about that
ah, I've noticed that the old rental sticks around in the loadout manager, sucks that you ran into that issue.
Renting the same ship again might end up being the "same" ship and get the cargo included, but it's possible you're SOL.
Make sure you post an issue council report on https://issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/ -- I'm not seeing any currently about the issues with rentals post-3.17.2. I suspect that whatever they did to hide rented ships from the terminal after they expire isn't fully working
was in #helpdesk a bit
for context I have a rental currently
it is in the wrong one
the current rental
the inaccessible rental
That blows. Definitely post on the issue council
And I'll stop recommending rentals for hauling refined goods too, way too easy to run afoul of that
necessary early for some, like me
just from now on I know to tell all my friends if they use a rental, don't store it for the last time at the refining station
That's a good workaround, make sure to include that in your issue report
The worst part is that it doesn't even number them in the refinery panel
yep
another (lame) workaround would be to refine a bunch of trash ore so you can fill the cargo of the expired rental so you can tell them apart just do the below
alternately, does the rental still show up on the other trading consoles? if so, could fill it with scrap
Just tested, yes it does. That Cutlass expired yesterday
Let me know when you've got an issue posted and I'll upvote
sadly the rental is at arc-l1 and full of quant materials
I could theoretically trade that if there was a sell option at station, but only admin exists
I added the report with the assumed workaround
I wonder, after being part of a 30k can all ships be retrieved anywhere, or only the one you were in during crash?
that miiiiiiiiiiight allow it to be recognized by a planet sale, though not very likely
I can see the cargo exists in the admin, but can't sell there obviously
778k in q gone
ewww, you actually refined the alum/beryl/quartz? I just chuck those, not worth it
Too bad you can't transfer cargo
yeah
maybe with the cargo refactor
desperately need cargo management
Is that a known bug? or just me? The cargo alert went red immediately! I'm pretty sure I had plenty of time
yes
known bug
I had a friend just fast enough to save the load with a store
but usually it means your ship is lost
I could make it and store the ship but the elevator is so damn slow 😂
Don't land, just use valet parking. Don't request landing, just hover close to one of the hangar doors and wait to be impounded
yeah
Only 5k fee, and they only charge you if you get the ship back out within 15min, so it's free if you're doing something else afterwards or about to log out
well do next time 👍 I Lost two full quant loads in a row because of this bug
is is trading cargo even worth it now
there's no laranite or distilled spirits and i can't fill a cargo hold
Assuming it's not full:
- Exit mining mode (M), fully power down the ROC (U), start it up again (R), go mining mode (M), make sure you're in extraction mode, try again
- If still not working, try that again
- If still not working, get out, go around back, open the little cargo hatch, access the cargo. Remove a single gem and put it back in to clear the "jam"
so there's nothing in the inventory and i tried the former sadly
It can be if you have a larger ship, but need to take routes that give a high value option and a high availability option.
E.g., buy all the laranite that's available, and fill the rest of your hold with Titanium, then go sell that
my luck streak ran out in halo mining, now only 2% rocks
That's because the availability is shared across all servers
(about laranite, not the halo)
We had a full load of quant only to bump my way into landing at a refinery and explode. Since then haven’t found enough quant to fill a prospector
What is the best trade route that is ALWAYS almost working and not outta stock?
ive been having decent luck on lyria
I can usually find 20%+ rocks pretty quick, and a 35%+ rock within about 45 min to an hour if I hold out for one
same, Halo can be quicker for me if it works but Lyria is more reliable
I mine at calliope but I should probably just set up my self at area 18 instead of new Babbage for mining
what cargo ship do people favor for delivering their refined goods?
haul A or Connie lol
?
hull a?
that's not in the game yet though?
wait no it does say flight ready
but uh, i meant in-game purchasable hauling ships
as for the connie, maybe
Cutlass black for me
I was wanting to go bigger, like taurus or even (for the greedy feel of a huge load) a caterpillar
Raft is good as well. Don’t know how much quant you want to save up before selling it
anyone able to help me get off orison, I keep 30king trying to leave
or is anyone able to give me some info to leave
wait, if i put all my stuff in my ship, and store it
and kill myself
and then claim it
will stuff come with
It should
Yolo
what's the best spot to find Quantanium
pretty sure claiming a ship does not keep it's contents
@umbral rune nope
@merry void i usually start at the pit
on lyria
but i mole mine
filing a claim does keep it's cargo/stowage?
thank you my prospector and I will be making bank
Probably titanium. Can pick up any laranite that's available, fill the rest up with titanium
In ascending in-game price and cargo space:
Freelancer, RAFT, Freelancer MAX, Taurus, Caterpillar, C2
No, claiming a ship doesn't keep storage
You've probably already discovered this by now, but Rdenauto lied to you. Claiming a ship doesn't keep stuff in the storage.
Is the ursa rover still capable of being driven into the freelancer MAX? Does the turret still have no collisions?
@marble crater u right! lyria quantanium hit percentage rose while halo percentage fell
OKAY
caps sry
meanwhile my only trip to the halo this patch, I landed 7km away from a cluster of quant that had 2 rocks at 25% and one at 22%
Havent seen a single one in halo over 30%
Lyria first two runs landed 35 and 40 % in under 10 minutes
Maybe, it is pretty much impossible to find someone in the halo, but relatively easy on lyria
i just had a near full load of quant turn into inert, is this a known bug?
My quant did inexplicably countdown from 9 minutes instead of 15
If it's just showing as inert in the mining view, it might just be a display bug. Visit the refinery to check.
If it's showing as inert at the refinery, yeah, a lot of people have reported their cargo exploding or going inert right after landing. Try getting impounded instead of landing.
my alarm did start going nuts right after i landed even though i had plenty of time last i checked, and i didn't land hard or hit anything
and it was showing as inert in the refinery
Why is every single rock i see in aaron's halo unscannable at the moment?
every single one is a ghost rock..
Yep, lots of people have complained about that. Don't land or request landing, just hover right up against a hangar door and get impounded
It's just a visual bug mate it's still their
had the same thing happen, only found out at the refinery terminal that all my quant had turned inert. some people are saying that bumpy landings can cause it but not sure
only happened in the Mole for me, Prospector has been ok so far
Issue council post if you want to add to it
https://issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-39163
Hi guys, am I the only one who's having my Permanent Mining Module who disappear for no reason ?
Mole: Stowage 96,000K μSCU
Prospector: Stowage Stowage
650K μSCU
Certainly doesnt feel like it xd
I mine 1 rock and the ship is full lol
lel how does the Valkyrie have less cargo space than the Cutty?
it can fit an Ursa Rover
Prospector would be 32,000uscu though. Not 650k. It's 1/3rd of the mole
Hey guys, im trying to mine on Roc. Pressing M my mining gadget activates, but I cant move it, any tips for that?
power cycle
I contributed, now confirmed but not sure if it will help us or not for now
this has happened a number of times to me. I found that doing a full powering down and restarting normally corrects that. Also, the collection won't work sometimes. The solution is pretty much the same, just restart the ROC.
the size of the Cargo Grid that was installed in the ship. CIG artificially limited the space on the Valk (which, btw, is an awesome ship).
How dare they!
It great when that happens. I can usually average 20/32 of space filled on the prospector.
same, so it's worth celebrating when one is born, LOL
wtf ship is drifting can move move. sitting in front of my biggest quant find so far
can't
Yesterday I found so many 40 percent quant rocks that were over 7k in mass. It was sad passing them by since I couldn’t mine them.
Out of curiosity is there a reason why lyria is the go to for quant mining? Is it that it just has a better chance of being found?
sure you didn't pop out of coupled mode?
To my knowledge, noone ever told me of any other place planet/moon side.
alt + c
Are there any good moons or spots around MicroTech to mine quant? Lyria got boring
The halo, to my knowledge
@onyx crow Alt C isn't changing anything. The screens aren't on in ship even with power and engine on
screens aren't on o.O .... what's going on with your ship?
@onyx crow No idea I was so happy finding this deposit.
Try cycling power maybe? U to power off everything. R to power everything back on.
I busted the best rock and was getting greedy busting the 2nd best before collecting
I'm sure I did bust the ship, but wouldn't it just explode?
not necessarily
Not at all, you can overcharge a rock and completely disable the ship
making it unflyable/unusable
I've seen everything between - drained shields to unflyable ..
and still no way to set space waypoints to come back?
Not unless you have a delivery pckg with a marker on it
nope, only a scout / friend left behind
Or that
can you QT to a package ?
Not QT but you can fly
so on a million km scale, getting close enough ...
QT to the closest facility ...
unless moon side, was thinking halo ranges
ah yea, haven't messed with the halo
it's also acting like a weird camera mode instead of flying
That would be rough lol
is that normal
z mode ?
If you overcharged, there isn't really a normal
Calliope
or yea, you maybe z locked
you can hold z to look around, but you can also tap z to shift mode into free look
Thanks!
Cool profile picture, did you take it? @cerulean lichen
We warned it’s windy and you may have to land the ship to mine
Oh alright, thanks for the heads up!
Yep. I do photography as a side hobby and got the photo while at a bird sanctuary
Cool man!
okay space walk for fun then self destruct
Badass, thanks!
Alright, much appreciated!
can you tag an external storeage container after self destruct?
I want to say no, but not sure
@jagged whale if you don't mind me asking, which refinery are you flying to using Mic as your mining for Q
if your ship drops a container after selfdestruct ?
I use MicL1 myself.
Drag it into your shop and keep it
2 u boxs are extremely useful if you have a bigger ship
I was asking Matt a question
I maybe crazy for focusing my mining operations around microtech but it’s nice and quiet. Plus it can be very stunning at times with cloud cover and such
I've only ever tried Lyria so far
ditto
@fading escarp There was a gun stored on the ship that survived self destruct
It takes a bit of getting used to especially the wind but I like it.
ahh, never experience that
Initiating Self destruct and exiting a ship to watch 5/5 would reccomend
What modules do y'all use? I've been using the brandt, surge, and stampede. Anything I should replace?
@fading escarp oh I was stranded in space. dead anyways
I'm favorable to Lancet
Most everyone uses the surge/stampede
I don’t use modules, probably should. I just use the Lancet mining head
I think the 3rd is just pref
Are modules always charge based or are their passive ones?
passive
passive
I have 2 torrent IIIs and Brandt
I got away with getting prospector outfitted with the extra$. they let me keep it
Thanks! I’ll do some investigating later to see if I can boost my power so I can at least break rocks that are 6k in mass
hmm.. to my knowledge mods don't stack, only the biggest one counts. The not biggest is offline, function wise
the rules may have changed unbeknownst to me
to break bigger than 5.5k
Ok I’ll have to get those then. I had 5.8k mass rock with 40 percent quant I just could not break last night with my lancet prospector.
@fading escarp I can only find info about an old patch where they did stack
I got these based off what another player was using.
Look up Red Monster ... he keeps his mining info up to date and loves mining
Has his own disc and youtube
researching now
dangit.. erkul doesn't do mods .. :/
well, the newest I can find is 3.13 and yes there they do stack
I use surge, stampede and forel
I bring 2 external gadgets too, boremax and sabir
In case I find 6k+ rocks
I can mine them
I just don't comprehend how you would want to shoot yourself so hard in your own foot bringing 3x FLTR-XLs
-90% extract, -60% inert. My Mole setup for the extracting seat is 1x FLTR-XL + 1x XTR-XL + Helix .. for the last mod I put something rando
filter only filters out inert
its kinda useless imo as its hardly ever just quant and inert
Being the part I don't understand.
what?
why would you ever just bring FLTR ...
my mole has extraction boost and rieger c3's across the board
why don't you want more stability, lesser resistance, larger charge window .. etc etc
its not needed. when you have a mole with 2 lasers
the green zone is so big with my setup
yes, my point as well
2 cracking heads, 1 extractor .. bam done.. the 2 crackers do the heavy lifting. after done the extractor vacuums it all up .. next go
yeah i dont extract until the end of it all breaking and by then everyone is extracting and were on to the second rock in 20 seconds or less
for a solo prospector, I still don't get why you'd want 3x FLTRs
I use a surge, stampede, and Brandt. I never find a spawn too big to overfill a mole in the halo to bother with a fltr
..and lancet
Are you guys talking about group mining monster lyria spawns?
had a mate soloing in his mole .. running back and forth constantly
I don't think we were specific to that scenario
for groups, doors suddenly opens up. 2+ prospectors coop on 8T boulders ..
Yep I solo in my mole. Love it. Hauled in. 60+ load yesterday
Have you been finding 8t rocks since the wipe?
I seen them a long long long time ago. Been a long time since I wanted to waste my time scouting for boulders.
I took a guidee out the halo last patch and scanning promptly bugged
I tried lyria once since the wipe. Got impatient after 45min of finding nothing and went back to the belt
scanning is still bad in the halo. I use the ship scanner and reduce the beam to 2% on possible rocks. They will resolve to diamonds at 10k. If they don't scan when they resolve, they will never scan.. just move on. At 5km you can scan the instability.. if 5+, you know it's quant
@thin escarp any tips on lyria spots?
we didn't get any intel, even after we put the miner on the rock .. so we relogged a few times .. scanned some 5-10 boulders.. bam bugged
@raw shell i generally start at the pit
ty I'll check that out for some different scenery 🙂
there's a mountain area near 2 or 5
