Bounty hunting is pretty lucrative, so if you have the money for it, a Buccaneer is always a good choise

If you're just wanting to make money, the two best ways right now are mining or bounty hunting.

For mining, use your 3M to buy yourself a Prospector and get the Lancet MH1 head for it. Save the leftover money. Once you've got a few loads mined and refined, rent a Freelancer (up to 2 Prospector loads per run) or Andromeda (up to 3) and haul all your refined ore to a city to sell. You'll then be able to buy a hauler of your own--MAX at 2.2M is a good start, Taurus for 3.2M is a bit better.

For bounty hunting, any number of ships are viable in the sub-3M range, it depends on what your style is.

It’s all a bit of luck. Some days I can find lots of quantanium others I can go hours without finding any

get a stampede module then and activate that immediately once you hit green. it will charge very quickly. if you miss green and overcharge be ready to bail quickly because the red zone charges even faster

it's extremely dangerous the first few times but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy. even when you mess up you won't disable your ship often as long as you are paying attention and ready to bail in an emergency

Not really in the current version of the game, no, for a couple reasons:

• With a small hold of only 64 SCU you won't be making a lot of money per trip.
• The Hull A in particular flies like a brick in atmosphere even when unloaded, and will take much longer to get places than something like a Freelancer would with the same cargo.

It's not awful for quantanium. Can carry 3 full prospector loads for 1.8M; the Freelancer (66 SCU, $1.7M) and Freelancer MAX (120 SCU, $2.2M) are probably the closest competitors. The MAX is probably better value since it can do other things too and carry nearly 4 full Prospector loads; might be worth getting the extra 400k to get that instead.

It's very slow and only carries at most 2 prospector loads. You'll end up replacing it with a RAFT, Freelancer MAX, or Taurus bought in game after only a few runs.

At that point I'd just recommend renting a Freelancer (can also carry two Prospector loads) in game when you need to haul

The issues with the unscannable asteroids can only be resolved with server meshing (a comment from Todd Pappy).

I'm of the opinion that the higher the density of asteroids, the more duds. So I'm going to explore the more sparse bands to see if that will give me better results

Since you can determine the dud from about 11.2Km away, no wasted time there. You can tell the quality of the asteroid for Quan from about 8km or so. You look at the instability, usually below 6 isn't very promising

I found that I had to power cycle the ROC. At first the nothing worked (the arm wouldn't aim) after that the Collection beam did work. But a total shutdown of the ROC and then return to normal operation allowed the collection beam to start working.

Lancet Mh1/2 (depending on what mining vehicle you are using that looks to me like the prospector so MH1) is the best mining head for quantanium. 3 of those in a mole (mh2) with experienced miners and you make so much money its insane

You need to avoid going into the red as when it builds every 5% increases the EMP of the explosion in addition to the size of the explosion when the rock is broken.

Ideally, bounce it at the beginning of the green ot the middle of the green. I'm insane I keep it near red the entire time or in middle unless with others than near the beginning of green to account for other players in ship'

If it hits the red, turn off the laser.... turn back on quickly and do 20% to slow rate of decline (of what it would take to increase it which changes based on the size of the rock)

I came to the space station with plenty of time left and got out of my ship, as soon as I stood up my volatile cargo alarm went off and I rushed inside to store it, stored the ship and then went to the refinery center to refine it and the quantanium was missing, but I have the other materials.

Hour and a half to half fill the ROC sounds like you either aren't in the right place, aren't scanning efficiently, aren't moving fast enough, or are spending too much time on crappy 1-2 deposit clusters
