Nope, it's not. You don't need to spend your wishes/primos, they aren't going anywhere. You'll get the pity when you spend them on the character you're saving for. Spending them earlier doesn't make any difference, other than risking losing all the primos on a wasted 5* (one you weren't saving for). More so if it's a guaranteed, since worse case you'll need 180 from scratch.
