The monster matierals are just a by product not the goal of anyone that's doing elite runs regularly, with a week's worth of farming you'd probably be good till the genshin Impact servers get shut down for the currently available mats. People who do elite runs regularly are after mora and artifact exp to compensate the loss of artifact exp from using the strongbox. But unless you plan to build every char and have individual artifacts for each one it's not necessary to go so far, but for some people like me it's worth it. It would of course be nice if you had an arena where you could kill mobs and elites without having to go around half the world map, and get 200-300k mora in 20min instead of 2,5h but then no one would do leylines anymore
