the probability is distributed between the character banner and the standard banner
so 50% chance of getting the character you actually want

After playing around with two sets for my (not-built and not-leveled) Hu Tao:
CW feels "comfier" in the overworld because I can ult much more frequently and the relative damage loss on charged attacks isn't that bad
SR feels better in the Abyss because my build has a higher CD, and CAs hit harder. The lack of energy for ulting isn't that bad because Zhongli + XQ take care of shielding/minor healing

Completely true. The problem is that my SR artifacts have a way higher damage ceiling than my CW, so the SR set is mostly relegated to Abyss
A caveat that I'm seeing: I don't have 30k HP for the CW set, but do have 250+ EM. My understanding is that EM > HP up until 300 to 400 EM as long as you have at least 25k HP.
(plus the good 'ol disclaimer of talents not being 10/10/10 right now)

An R5 Dbane will do more damage overall than PJWS because you don't have time to build up your stacks before you use your E if you have one of them laying around.
I'd personally stick to CW over SR with C1 as well.

In the absence of better CW pieces, my plan was to get Deathmatch and/or pull for Staff of the Scarlet Sands when 3.5 releases, which would put my at 80 CR or 87 CR.
I'd also keep grinding for 5-15% more CD while holding the same CR on artifacts, which would leave me with 200 to 210 CD.
Leveling DB and recycling everything into CW is what I'll probably do in parallel with that

Well, if you value bursting as frequently as possible, then yeah, CW wins (though I don't recommend bursting that frequently, because specially when there are a lot of mobs, it'll keep you above 50% HP, specially if paired with XQ). Personally though I don't have issues bursting right before her E ends on SR, as long as I had full or close to full energy when I press E.

The problematic part about off set def sands is how basically all def scaling chars want 4pc husk, which means you need on set geo DMG bonus goblet
Don't level every shit artifact with double CRIT, except for some very specific sets or you have like shenhe. Otherwise even ATK circlet is garbage, HP pieces are pretty much the only ones with value currently, but ER/CR is what you want there most of the time, since HP scaling chars are mostly healer/shielder and CR is useful for favonius

I mean for an online card game it's pretty interesting, especially considering it's not the primary focus of the game, but merely a side objective. That said, no it is not a complete online cardgame, it is clearly still under development and while it is entertaining, I can understand how some can't be bothered in it's current form.
that said, I enjoy the strategy, it's simplistic but there's still some challenging elements to it, like Magu Kinky, if you play his summons right he can create all kinds of chaos spreading his own cryo element with his anemo. Even after the nerf he's a strong character.

and honestly I hate the paimon support card, it's a genuine waste. You sacrifice 3 energy for 1 additional energy over 2 turns. (total of 4 energy, one actual bonus energy) Like I can just dual type and throw in a 0 cost energy card in that space and save myself a headache of trying to figure out when I don't need 3 energy this turn.

I recognize it for what it is, it can certainly be a valid strategy card, I just hate that type of strategy and would rather take a different path.
I mean, Yoimiya can obliterate enemies with her, throw two down and use her skill and food buff, even without other support stuff she can easily attack 5-6 times in a turn. If you've given her weapon and artifact you can throw down a couple more.
but honestly you can probably get the same amount out of her without paimon if you just attack for 3 turns. π
