ive been a big advocate of zhongli not being an ""S tier"" unit for a long time now, but shields in general are missing a LOT of QoL, such as a little shield bar which tells you how much durability it has left

I agree with the HP bar for shields. Though, tbh, I think what makes Zhongli better over other shield units in general is the universal shred, or at least what appeals to me the most out of him. I also plan on building him as a nuke (yeah, I know his burst isn't the greatest, but still), rather than a shield bot.

hutao has increased poise from her e and damage reduction from xingqiu, also effectively making her knockback immune
childe doesnt really have space for a shield on his vap comp
and freeze teams are safe enough to not need one

hutao can use a shield just to take less damage overall, which is definitely comfy

and xiao really like the anemo shred for zhongli

but generally speaking, a shield's "optimal" use is not that wide spread
