This is the big thing. If you play the game as designed, by completing dailies -> redeeming keys -> unlocking character quests with key, you effectively softlock yourself out of core quests.
The game forces you into this loop by gating keys behind completion and having a limited number of keys at a time
By playing the game in the way it's designed, it effectively ends up punishing the player
