Scythes as depicted in video games are ridiculous impractical weapons that would never actually work. A war scythe is more like a naginata with a reverse curve to the blade, and the closest an actual weapon gets to a scythe shape is the bec de corbin, which is really a long-hafted war hammer rather than a scythe
