The ZRCV Airborn Aircraft Carrier was proposed by the Lighter-than-Air Bureau of the United States Department of the Navy and Goodyear-Zeppelin Corporation as a successor to the Akron Class Airships. The ZRCV project was designed to be 897 feet (273 m) long with a diameter of 148 feet (45 m). Total helium gas volume would have been 9.55 million cubic feet (270,000 m^3) with a gross lifting weight of 592,000 pounds (269,00 kg) with a dead weight of 295,000 pounds (134,000 kg). For the airships powerplant, the design called for 8 750 hp engines arranged in 4 pairs of outboard engines driving a single 4 bladed propellor giving the airship a cruising speed of 50 knots (58 mph; 93 km/h) with a likely top speed similar to that of USS Macon with an ultimate range of 8,750 nautical miles (10,070 mi; 16,200 km). Now the main key difference between the ZRCV and Akron Class came down to its aircraft compliment. The Akron Class could carry as many as 5 F9C Sparrowhawk parasite fighters in their internal hangers while the ZRCV design would have carried 9 aircraft under its belly instead of an internal hanger as shown in the 3D model and Artist Depictions provided. These aircraft likely being a mix of fighters and dive bombers such as the Northrop BT-1, Grumman F3F, Grumman F4F, Douglas SBD, and Grumman FM-2. However it likely would have varied had the project been built. The ZRCV design never advanced past that of an idea after the loss of USS Macon and President Roosevelt ordering a limitation on the size of new airships. Yet had they been constructed they likely would have been assigned to defending the Eastern Coast of the United States during the Battle of the Atlantic. The fictional names on the ZRCV airships in the 3D model are ZRCV-1 USS Long Island and ZRCV-2 USS Long Beach. While I understand this suggestion might not get very far due to the lack of information about certain specifications, doesnt hurt to try eh? Not to mention its not everyday an airship is suggested to Aeronautica.

Not to be rude but I think you're just missing the point of this suggestion-

granite bane
#

(joke)

foggy fossil
#

None of the planes that were intended to be launched from this thing are actually in the game

#

Adding this would require adding those along with it

thin briar
#

True

#

However information regarding its compliment of aircraft kinda doesnt exists so most concepts from other online sources give a rough estimate of either a full fighter complement, bomber complement, or mixed complement of fighters and bombers

foggy fossil
#

-# also this might be rejected for being a tad bit too large

thin briar
#

Well it is in a nutshell a slightly bigger Akron class

#

Even the Hindenburg class had a slightly bigger class planned but never built

foggy fossil
#

I don't think any of the airships in the game were suggested

#

The big things are usually only added because the devs felt like adding them

#

Not because someone suggested them

thin briar
#

Well after checking Akron was 789 feet long with a diameter of 132 ft, 11 in

foggy fossil
#

But this isn't the Akron is it?

thin briar
#

Well no, its a slightly bigger Akron

#

By about 108 feet long and 15.89 inchs bigger in diameter

#

And I was using Akron as a reference

plain lance
#

regardless, no mockup

thin briar
#

Damn

#

Well hey atleast I tried

plain lance
#

if you'd be lucky finding mockup - maybe

thin briar
#

Hmmm.

#

I'll keep looking

#

But do you think it would be possible to create it?

#

Even with a mockup found and all

#

Wait a sec

#

Damn only blueprints

thin briar
plain lance
#

that's blueprint, not mockup

thin briar
#

So it needs a physical model

plain lance
#

yes

thin briar
#

great.

#

because none exist.

this would be so fye to have ingame devs pls add

#

The vehicles launched by the Akron also technically dont exist

#

Later in its existence the airship launched biplanes had their gear replaced by a fuel tank

#

If im not wrong

the server is filled with freaky people

iron vigil

not me

thin briar
#

Uh guys, can we stay on topic of the suggestion-

mortal seal
#

yes of course

iron vigil
sonic lantern
#

its on topic promise

iron vigil
#

also as i was saying

#

to uhhh

thin briar
#

Ok, then what do you think of this project then?

iron vigil
#

to spectre

iron vigil
thin briar
#

Just because it came down between the ZRCV design or suggesting USS Shenandoah ZR-1

iron vigil
#

we have ZR-2 through 4

#

akron can double as macon

thin briar
iron vigil
#

it was close enough

thin briar
#

I mean it shared the same design and all

iron vigil
#

yes

#

we MIGHT

#

and i mean MIGHT

#

HEAVY might

#

be able to get uhhh

#

advanced customization for the akron

#

to turn it into the macon

#

but i doubt it

thin briar
#

But she could actually carry 5 parasite fighters. Akron was only able to carry 3 because of structural supports blocking parts of the hanger

#

Plus Macon propellors were later refit from 2 bladed to 3 bladed

iron vigil
#

that'd actually make sense for advanced customization

#

i also wanna ask titanium95 if he plans on making them useable as carriers

thin briar
#

I think that would be a great idea

iron vigil
#

i say this because he mentioned the devs being in the process of making player owned aircraft carriers into mobile airports

#

things you can take jobs from and whatnot

thin briar
#

Being able to lower the crane and allowing somebody to dock to it

sonic lantern
#

carriers overall would be fun but like

#

idk

iron vigil
#

that and anything with a helipad

sonic lantern
#

if its feasible

iron vigil
#

we do have aerial refuel

thin briar
#

Actually

iron vigil
#

AND once they figure out how to make the carriers and helipads on ships work

#

we might get it

#

it'd make sense

thin briar
#

And I know this is gonna drag in neo x warfare for a moment.

iron vigil
#

use the formation thing?

sonic lantern
#

neo x mentioned

#

ban

thin briar
#

But technically, the B-36 model in that game can hold the Goblin parasite fighter that’s also in game

iron vigil
#

and we also dont have the goblin fighter ingame

thin briar
#

true

iron vigil
#

but thats something else id love to see

#

at LEAST as advanced customization

#

the B-29 could do it aswell

#

👀

thin briar
#

Mhm

iron vigil
#

id also love TB-3 zveno

thin briar
#

If anything I think the ZRCV concept would be a good flying carrier for players to fly and interact with

mortal seal
iron vigil
#

they also did experiment with this

sonic lantern
iron vigil
#

ill find that too

thin briar
#

And like I mentioned in the suggestion it could only carry specific planes from the era, players using them could take said plane, flying up to the ZRCV, dock with it and turn off their engine, and then refuel from the ZRCV before restarting said engine and undocking

thin briar

Though gang, the ZRCV might not be added because it lacks a concept model..

sonic lantern
#

look for one cuh

mortal seal

that picture isn't a B-29, three engines at each wing, reverse attached, wroig cockpit, worng tail section.

iron vigil
#

only 2

#

cockpit isnt wrong

#

tail isnt wrong

thin briar
#

But hey, I’ll suggest the Shenandoah after a while

iron vigil
thin briar
#

Since it does have a mock-up model

iron vigil
iron vigil
mortal seal
#

i'm about his one.

#

thought you meant it was also a B-29, the first one is indeed.

iron vigil
#

i mean the first one yeah

#

you said the B-29 never carried them so i posted it

mortal seal
iron vigil
#

they did very limited testing with the B-29

#

they mainly used the 36

#

they also had B-29 tankers with drogues and probes 👀

#

and one with a massive antenna out the bottom

mortal seal
iron vigil
#

KB-29s yeah

sonic lantern
#

B-36 was hype

Originally, the US Navy wanted a 100,000 m³ Zeppelin as a reparation airship. The corresponding plans then provided for the above Zeppelin. However, this startled the British and French and the USA gave in out of political consideration and then ordered a shortened version of the LZ 126 with only 70,000 m³ of gas volume

iron vigil
#

THAT WOULDVE BEEN SO MUCH COOLER

#

BRUHHHHHH

im going to have a VERY stern word with the UK.......

Well their are also two unrealized airships that the Navy Order from Germany in 1919 but were cancelled

No names given to them
