The ZRCV Airborn Aircraft Carrier was proposed by the Lighter-than-Air Bureau of the United States Department of the Navy and Goodyear-Zeppelin Corporation as a successor to the Akron Class Airships. The ZRCV project was designed to be 897 feet (273 m) long with a diameter of 148 feet (45 m). Total helium gas volume would have been 9.55 million cubic feet (270,000 m^3) with a gross lifting weight of 592,000 pounds (269,00 kg) with a dead weight of 295,000 pounds (134,000 kg). For the airships powerplant, the design called for 8 750 hp engines arranged in 4 pairs of outboard engines driving a single 4 bladed propellor giving the airship a cruising speed of 50 knots (58 mph; 93 km/h) with a likely top speed similar to that of USS Macon with an ultimate range of 8,750 nautical miles (10,070 mi; 16,200 km). Now the main key difference between the ZRCV and Akron Class came down to its aircraft compliment. The Akron Class could carry as many as 5 F9C Sparrowhawk parasite fighters in their internal hangers while the ZRCV design would have carried 9 aircraft under its belly instead of an internal hanger as shown in the 3D model and Artist Depictions provided. These aircraft likely being a mix of fighters and dive bombers such as the Northrop BT-1, Grumman F3F, Grumman F4F, Douglas SBD, and Grumman FM-2. However it likely would have varied had the project been built. The ZRCV design never advanced past that of an idea after the loss of USS Macon and President Roosevelt ordering a limitation on the size of new airships. Yet had they been constructed they likely would have been assigned to defending the Eastern Coast of the United States during the Battle of the Atlantic. The fictional names on the ZRCV airships in the 3D model are ZRCV-1 USS Long Island and ZRCV-2 USS Long Beach. While I understand this suggestion might not get very far due to the lack of information about certain specifications, doesnt hurt to try eh? Not to mention its not everyday an airship is suggested to Aeronautica.

already exists
Not to be rude but I think you're just missing the point of this suggestion-
(joke)
None of the planes that were intended to be launched from this thing are actually in the game
Adding this would require adding those along with it
True
However information regarding its compliment of aircraft kinda doesnt exists so most concepts from other online sources give a rough estimate of either a full fighter complement, bomber complement, or mixed complement of fighters and bombers
-# also this might be rejected for being a tad bit too large
Well it is in a nutshell a slightly bigger Akron class
Even the Hindenburg class had a slightly bigger class planned but never built
I don't think any of the airships in the game were suggested
The big things are usually only added because the devs felt like adding them
Not because someone suggested them
Well after checking Akron was 789 feet long with a diameter of 132 ft, 11 in
But this isn't the Akron is it?
Well no, its a slightly bigger Akron
By about 108 feet long and 15.89 inchs bigger in diameter
And I was using Akron as a reference
me when Mitsubishi F1M strapped to Yamato and yet not playable
regardless, no mockup
if you'd be lucky finding mockup - maybe
Hmmm.
I'll keep looking
But do you think it would be possible to create it?
Even with a mockup found and all
Wait a sec
Damn only blueprints
What about this?
that's blueprint, not mockup
So it needs a physical model
yes
So you can't just teak the Akron model by chance..?
Might be it there in the background
No, it's a requirement to have actual mockup irl to be permitted to be added
Well the tail does seem to match up with the blueprints a bit..
Damn..
The vehicles launched by the Akron also technically dont exist
Later in its existence the airship launched biplanes had their gear replaced by a fuel tank
If im not wrong
So it isn't fine if i spent to much time of my life to modelling it a smock up?
no it has to be official
if we allowed hobby models as mockups aero would be ruined
aero would be BACK 🔥🔥🔥
also yeah the ones later used on the akron were air launched only
me omw to suggest all my weird fictional aircraft designs after i built them with LEGOs (they would never fly irl):👀
yes they would trust
ultra rare moment of hilarious being right captured
yes
wheres that picture of the ME-323Z
i nicknamed them doritos no way in hell are they flying
trust in the process maybe smh
they didnt fly when i made im in ksp so
nobody plays ksp
i mean they did they just kinda sucked
ksp thread says otherwise
errrrrr
bots
no
kps is the best
yeah everyone knows grow a garden is better than ksp
okay kerbal space program2 wasn't good, it was just to heavy but the one is very good.
ew 😭
KSP 2 did promise orion drive
due to this conversation i'm thinking about leaving the server.
but thats all i care for
im joking
this server?
i know lol
yes
how come
not me
Uh guys, can we stay on topic of the suggestion-
yes of course
this is on topic trust
its on topic promise
Ok, then what do you think of this project then?
to spectre
peak 🤤
Just because it came down between the ZRCV design or suggesting USS Shenandoah ZR-1
we gotta get the ZR-1 eventually
we have ZR-2 through 4
akron can double as macon
Well technically Macon was a bit different from Akron
it was close enough
I mean it shared the same design and all
yes
we MIGHT
and i mean MIGHT
HEAVY might
be able to get uhhh
advanced customization for the akron
to turn it into the macon
but i doubt it
But she could actually carry 5 parasite fighters. Akron was only able to carry 3 because of structural supports blocking parts of the hanger
Plus Macon propellors were later refit from 2 bladed to 3 bladed
that'd actually make sense for advanced customization
i also wanna ask titanium95 if he plans on making them useable as carriers
I think that would be a great idea
i say this because he mentioned the devs being in the process of making player owned aircraft carriers into mobile airports
things you can take jobs from and whatnot
Being able to lower the crane and allowing somebody to dock to it
that and anything with a helipad
if its feasible
if we managed to get a method to attach aircraft to one another we might
we do have aerial refuel
Actually
AND once they figure out how to make the carriers and helipads on ships work
we might get it
it'd make sense
And I know this is gonna drag in neo x warfare for a moment.
use the formation thing?
But technically, the B-36 model in that game can hold the Goblin parasite fighter that’s also in game
B-36 isnt the goblin variant
and we also dont have the goblin fighter ingame
true
but thats something else id love to see
at LEAST as advanced customization
the B-29 could do it aswell
👀
Mhm
id also love TB-3 zveno
If anything I think the ZRCV concept would be a good flying carrier for players to fly and interact with
It never carried a goblin, and only caried some X planes of it was modified.
thatd be nice
they also did experiment with this
also that weird testbed that could connect wings and shit
oh yeah tip connection
ill find that too
And like I mentioned in the suggestion it could only carry specific planes from the era, players using them could take said plane, flying up to the ZRCV, dock with it and turn off their engine, and then refuel from the ZRCV before restarting said engine and undocking
glider gaming
that isn't a B-29
yes it is?
is he ragebaiting
probably
Though gang, the ZRCV might not be added because it lacks a concept model..
look for one cuh
that picture isn't a B-29, three engines at each wing, reverse attached, wroig cockpit, worng tail section.
sadly yes
its a field modification

i dont see 3 engines
only 2
cockpit isnt wrong
tail isnt wrong
But hey, I’ll suggest the Shenandoah after a while
please do
Since it does have a mock-up model
WE're atlking about different pics i think.
we are
im talking about this image
i'm about his one.
thought you meant it was also a B-29, the first one is indeed.
tbh i know alot about them but it is a new picture for me.
its pretty neat
they did very limited testing with the B-29
they mainly used the 36
they also had B-29 tankers with drogues and probes 👀
and one with a massive antenna out the bottom
i know that ones.
KB-29s yeah
B-36 was hype
my beloved 🤤
Funny enough, USS Los Angeles ZR-3 was suppose to be longer in its design.
excluding the minor engine fire problem
how come it wasnt?
Cursed
but do you have the goblin serial number(it is called otherwise but my english isn't reaching that far)
ill look for it
Pressure from Britain and France
No I'm getting it left
damn >:(
fair point
But she would have been able to launch two parasite fighters at a time
Instead of 1
Give me a second and I’ll grab the information
its 484111
it's engines hadn't the required amount of power, and it was pretty fast repalced as test plane.
i think
it's X/f number?
XF-85, if i'm correct.
nd you was correct, found some other picttures of it bound to a EB-29
Original Design for the USS Los Angeles ZR-3
Final Design
Originally, the US Navy wanted a 100,000 m³ Zeppelin as a reparation airship. The corresponding plans then provided for the above Zeppelin. However, this startled the British and French and the USA gave in out of political consideration and then ordered a shortened version of the LZ 126 with only 70,000 m³ of gas volume
BULLSHIT
THAT WOULDVE BEEN SO MUCH COOLER
BRUHHHHHH
im going to have a VERY stern word with the UK.......
and france
Well their are also two unrealized airships that the Navy Order from Germany in 1919 but were cancelled
No names given to them
those wouldve been cool too
somewhat logic, "You aren't allowed to build weapons, but make weapons for us"
Also, Goodyear had a nuclear powered airship design in the late 50’s to early 60’s
again logic, "We're going to put a self propelling nuke under a ballon of high flamable, easy to shoot down latex"
a live threatening reactor that just falls out of the air for 2 engines. Good idea.
It was the 60’s, atomic power was all the rage back then
i need 🤤
Middle cold war... For what did they made nukes, just send those things.
No of course not.
Just the thinking faults of nuclear blimps whilke jets exist.
Where those even build?
Concepts only
Ah ok, they didn't exposed everyone to radiation in a blimp. The recensiosn for it would be funny "Nice interior , but alot of led."
Because airships back then werent already dangerous
AIRSHIP UPDATE REAL
That’s nothing compared to the Jet powered zeppelin (which actually had a mock-up, but sadly has like no good stats or blueprints)
whats it called 👀
Hold on, it was on Secret forums so it’ll take me a bit to find it, but I think it was a German inventor
take yer time lad
There’s only like 2 images (1 I could find)
Hans Lemmerzahl’s
Airship, with some stats (don’t know how accurate or credible it is tho):
length: 400M
Payload: 120-150T
Top(?) speed: 300km/h
👀
viable
if only if it wasn't 400 fucking meters
jesus christ yeah 😭
SLIDE
?
looked up a bit, but the registration number on the mockup lead me to another, classical powered airship of the Hindenburg class
I think it was like a reference to the Hindenburgs
fun fact
at one point in time
the hindenburg had an underslung biplane
to deliver mail mid flight
yo real quick
dont suggest shenandoah
