The Staaken R.VI was a giant aircraft during World War I , used as a strategic bomber.
The Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI was the largest German bomber of the First World War and was one of the so-called giant aircraft. Developed from 1916 and deployed from 1917, it was a four-seat biplane with a wingspan of almost 43 meters, its engines arranged in tandem, driving a propeller. With a crew of up to nine, it could carry a bomb load of more than two tons and was primarily used for night raids on London and other targets. Although only 18 examples were built, the R.VI marked a technical pinnacle of aviation at the time, but its military impact was limited.
