Currently open cockpits are a mess due to the issues with floating point. But it doesn't have to be this way. Aircraft with closed cockpits get around this-well to be completely honest I don't know how they do it but I believe that the same method used in closed cockpits could be used in open cockpits. Of course this would require the devs to work on open cockpits at their own discretion.

closed cockpits don't exist in game, they are in a form of viewports
Yeah, trying to fly my curtiss jenny is a pain bc half of the fuselage is just gone
totally breaks it for me

Cockpit view in aero is like using it on a plane that doesn't have it, but then having an overlay cover your screen
But on open cockpits like ultralights, it's physically part of the model
It must be, since it's visible outside of pov mode
