#Poll for how updates should go
455 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I feel like small will win in any game but we'll se
carl
I think a mix of both is good
Sometimes more frequent smaller ones, sometimes less frequent larger ones
But that’s already how it’s been so
Yeah
True
Maybe like a rotating schedule of a few devs have a vehicle or small update this two week cycle, more the next, and all making a few for a big update
So devs get their work in game sooner and players get new vehicles more frequently instead of at one
I can say that in my opinion I interested to see what the community will say (out of curiosity)
But the mix of both need to be kept despite the community will say
yea that's the problem
IMO
99% of the time, people will vote for smaller updates if the amount of content per timespan is the same
but it is probably more rewarding for devs in the end to develop bigger, themed updates
ultimately it's up to the dev team tho
its also boring for players to wait for those
evidence'd by the significant jump in players after an update
they start playing at an update
play a few days
then get bored and get goin again
players also play longer after bigger updates tho
i think

not really
player count goes 400+ after an update
then it drops to like 150 after a few days again
Honestly good idea. Perhaps this would help the devs massively back-shelved projects that will never see the light of day
thats what gave me this ide
idea
so much stuff backlogged, not to be released until 3 years later because they need a major update
Yeah like there were vehicles that were on the trello for apparently years while we get another generic airliner
all I’m hoping for is that the new leaks we’ve been getting are going to release with maybe the military warships jobs (or atleast give them capacity)
there' the entire Russian northern fleet waiting release
FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS
they keep them there for so long that they literally become too outdated to even work in the game anymore
and then they have to remodel them
Like what?
I remember seeing Kirov but that looked incomplete
the kirov
they kiev
the slava
the gorshkov
some landing ship
another submarine
hang on

Leovetsk Naval Base Update
this is Aussie's to do list
pretty long aint it
this is like a month old tho

if you bother to check he updates it regularly
it's a long checklist, but goes by fast
idk i really like the idea of having larger, themed updates (even if we have to wait a little longer)
but i guess it could be worth making a poll to gauge public opinion
Yes
a month old isnt bad
this is not how it works
no it's not
but i think it'd still be interesting to see the poll results
how does it work?
Does the amount of releasable stuff have any bearing over the release?
Are deadlines for work (if they exist) coordinated?
dev release update when update ready
What signifies a ready update corevector?
Also why is Hyper's pfp the evil insurance manager from the first incredibles movie?
x files theme
i think the devs kinda just speak about it together and agree on it
Reasonable.
jokes aside they don’t really seem to work on bugs between updates so i would personally vote for smaller, more frequent update
they release a few patches after a major update and then just leave bugs in the game until the next major update is ready
more frequent updates means more bug fixes faster
like once in a while one of them goes "hey, we have a lot of aircraft ready to roll out, we should update this weekend"
and if most agree, then it rolls out
they do, even if it's not always announced
a few weeks ago i remembered altac letting us know in a bug report that the AD-1 model had been fixed in a bug patch
#1309533628409188384 message
oh is that why there was an update but no update log a while ago
-# *i meant "announced", not "allowed"
I too would like to see smaller more consistent updates, even if one new aircraft is released. Most people don't 100% look forward to 100% of the things that are in a large update most of the time it's one or two things they use or like that they wanted to see added or fixed. That's just my personal experience.
also the one exception to this is for themed updates
the warships are notorious for being withheld until the update was ready to roll out
this last update was like some cool helis, one or two cool planes, and then a boatload of sukhoi fighters probably put together with home depot phillips head screws
Also an investigation needs to be done into the C-17's anomalous effects. I think this is the second time someone has released work on a C-17 remodel since it was remodeled a few years ago, and they've gone silent as well.
i feel like the helis and the fighters could’ve been two separate updates with a bunch of bug fixes and those two individual planes split
IIRC (not sure) those sukhois were meant to be released with the Wings of Red Star 2 update, but were released anyway because it had been too long
i heard it was because they couldn’t “find a good enough reference for the landing gear” and since the unrealistic game cannot fathom eyeballing and having a slightly unrealistic model they just called it quits
ohh gotcha
That is incredibly funny considering how many aircraft in game have pretty blatant physical mistakes on them or are configured in an odd manner/float when on the ground. Though I can 100% understand a very good modeler not wanting to release work that they know is not up to their standards.
🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
i just don’t understand it because the devs say themselves the game isn’t supposed to be realistic
but then they turn around and say less doors = less passengers because of “safety standards irl” and deny a really cool concept aircraft just because a paper model wasn’t built of it
every modeler is different and has different skill levels and levels of care for the work they do
they have so so so so many other issues with quality assurance that the model accuracy of aircraft should be the absolute least of their concerns
again every modeler is different
and I'm pretty sure quality control is on an individual basis especially on the military side
also that's an excuse for concepts not taking precendent over aircraft that are real and should be worked on
Honestly I don't really see how anybody can have time for 1000 passenger "found and explained" paper aircraft when there are tons of real designs that have flown but that is my very personal opinion on the matter.
a update that is ready for release

this
yep
Uh no? Aussie started it just recently
Nevermind the plenty of aircraft in game that are asked by the community for a remodel routinely.
There's always something to do, so the question is where do aircraft that do not exist fit into the picture?
Also reminds me of Automobilista 2 poll where instead of bug fixes and features players voted for just more cars

Personally, there’s shit ton of games where you can fly same 306003406949203952904 variants of single Airbus, but how many games do you know that have for example Mitsubishi Spacejet? Or HS.141? Or Sukhoi T-4 Sotka?
well the spacejet and T-4 sotka left the drawing board
I'm not use about the HS.141
Missing the point
the distinction I was making was with paper and real aircraft
real designs often get ignored and/or denied anyway actually wtf are we talking about there hasn't been a new large airliner in forever
not with prototypes and production aircraft
Rice Boeings/Airbuses:
Also no one denies real aircrafts
true while the hypermachsonicstar lives
Except blatant Nazi shit I don’t recall any denied real planes
the injustice lives on eternally/j
Hypermach can NOT be used as an excuse because we all hate it as of now as well, it’s a plane from a different time period and vision of a game
what's wrong with the hypermach
Everything
it qualifies based on the modern rules of aircraft suggestion
Except it doesn’t
Can we remove the Hypermach and replace it with Ye-155
But the point that I'm making which I'm not sure is in contention with either of yours is that there are plenty of real planes, interesting planes with far more history than something on paper, that aren't in game or need a remodel. Where do paper aircraft fit into the game if one says real aircraft with more history should take precendent over those that aren't?
I’d wish
How much paper planes have you seen as of late
We can remove the hypermach and replace it with coal
I’m curious
I can bring up you a full list of all planes added in 2024 you wouldn’t count even 10 of them
if x = the amount of paper planes in game
we have x too many/j
Saying that game changed its focus to paper stuff is in fact false
And that having 10-1 ratio of real/project are destructive to the game
My personal opinion is that is was a mistake to set the precendent of allowing them, but that's just my opinion.
How is it a mistake? Almost no other games does it
So let’s just be as any regular plane game without no unique things
We found our niche
the hypermach sonicstar lives/j
there is no worse reality than this
Didn’t I just told you not use it as an example
do you know about tone indicators?
this is also a good point
denying cool paper aircraft is so lame why would you NOT want your game to be unique
This
your game can be unique and also not have paper planes
because there are WELL more than enough real planes out there that aren't in any game
the only thing unique about aeronautica is a. the amount of aircraft and b. the extremely heavy focus on economy rather than flight sim
What buzzes me the most is how each project/paper plane raises controversy EACH TIME they even mentioned while still having ratio so below it’s barely noticeable
only one of those are an absolutely good thing
because it could have been something that has flown
instead of a paper plane
… and it still being added in much bigger amount, what’s your problem
the point is that we don't need paper aircraft to achieve uniqueness
I get it that you want some plane that wasn’t added yet, doesn’t mean we should drop everything else
in fact that is my point why drop real designs that haven't been added yet for those that do not exist
if your point is that they do that, i don't think they do that
Cooler more unique being cancelled due to budget or bureaucracy but being promising designs, maybe?
And we don’t, which is exactly why I’m not getting the point of convo
yea non-real aircraft get denied constantly
i wish they weren't
idk how we went from that to this
I don’t recall myself going “meh I gonna scrap E-7 cuz I like this one pooperfarten 20000 from some magazine”
And it’s still bad for some people apparently
that's not how that works it just means they're occupied and won't pick a real aircraft to develop
the development time creating a new plane in blender configuring and testing it is all being spent on something that never flew
T-4MS which are first project plane in half a year if not more had to be fought for to be added with other higher ups with so many reasonings and conditions for it being added that it’s almost ridiculous
the fundamental question is
do you value paper planes as much as you do real ones?
if you can't answer that's fine
Even reading what I was saying all this time
Yes.
carry
There’s 5 project planes on 150 for the last YEAR alone, what do you think, we value projects more than real planes?
they don't do fictional aircraft really
the only ones they have done are some badge planes here and there
this is a personal question
not one that has to do with the aeronautica development program as a whole
I value real planes more, I make real planes more, I make shit ton of variants for them, but I do love projects as well and having them is also nice touch and I want to be able to make them, yes
Alright
And that’s exactly why they’re badges, I’m almost certain it was done to just somehow allow it in those strict rules (also to not limit real planes to badges that happened before with Seastar or Seahornet)
It was settled before me so I can’t be sure 100% but that’s my guess
i still think they shouldn't be badge exclusive
i can fly real airliners in like every flight sim, i wanna be able to fly fictional ones too, aeronautica could make itself the place to go for cool fictional aircraft
I think it can be redone in a way gacha games doing that (lemme explain), where you can have reruns of exclusive characters from previous patched
but it's too hellbent on being "realistic" (when it's not) so they don't get added
But good luck convincing everyone else
Because guess what, there’s literally 3 people in whole dev staff who actually enjoys projects
And apparently it’s still a problem
so like who cares what the players think then
it's y'alls game just add what you want
literally 1984
what calvin said but 🧇
Well we’re not the only people who plays it yk
though I doubt we're arguing at all really
It’s a convo yeah
you all value real planes to a higher degree than those that are not real and are summed up by drawings
aggressively agreeing on every topic
Yea
also if players don't like fictional aircraft they can just... not fly them
Which is why I’m confused why there’s still a problem with sometimes added project planes
All of my caveats are rather personal on the matter and I'll leave you to your specific opinions as well.
i don't like sukhoi fighters, i don't complain about them getting added though
Like cmon it’s barely a fraction of planes being added
i just don't fly them

It’s so minuscule you can barely see them in vehicle database (just don’t open SST category
)
not even Su-31?
It’s not a fighter
thats an aerobatic isn't it
don't say that it's a fighter to me😭/j
super tacano moment
real
Strap some UB-32 to Su-31
anyhow yes to updates being small enough that they contain even one aircraft
meh
smaller/more frequent updates would be good for timing updates
Giving complexity of updates it’s not uh… what word I should use… reasonable? To update game for a single plane
we could've had a christmas update for 2024 but eh
i can see the argument for smaller update, but 1 plane updates would feel kinda cheap
maybe not ONE plane
but like not 16
yea this is looking to be absolutely fire
less cheap more like being able to bring more attention to the effort put into bringing that one aircraft to market
like 3-5 planes/aircraft per update and more focus on bug fixes and non-aircraft changes to the game
it should be a celebration every time
cough sound design cough
but if the updates are too small it becomes less of a celebration, more of a "oh ok, new ping"
that's fair
i haven't really seen any celebration for updates
you haven't seen the chats within the few hours following the big themed updates then
¯_(ツ)_/¯
personally i feel like people are way more hyped when a big, themed update releases
Yep
because this game unfortunately has a rather specific problem of seasonal crowds
Noticed with Udyana and VTOLs updates
and setting "smaller, frequent updates" as a policy would probably be incompatible with this
like shivers warthunder
every game has this
it's nigh impossible to achieve perfect replayability
aeronautica is a grind though
grindy games benefit with more frequent updates because people tend to leave grindy games more
richer players who have like everything they want don't really have a reason to come back after updates
Or you can add shit ton of stuff for people to grind a lot again
some games like TF2 have done it
for most games, player count is dictated by updates
NO
that's a normal cycle of life for games
true but there is a point where the phenomena becomes something that is relied upon
like cool lemme fly and upgrade these aircraft and oops i'm done after a month so time to wait for the next update and play something else
well you want to avoid that generally
GTA0, NFSU… Genshin
at least in the perspective of game design
Well yeah
But that’s not something achievable when you’re just a party of volunteers
yes it's a passion project but is one of the passions not to have a really big and widespread game
do you know of a game, remotely similar in genre to aeronautica, that avoids this ?
It’s barely achievable with jobs on payroll, let alone volunteer like Aero
in genre that's most payware flight sims
a flight game? no because there's like 2 of those ever
especially on roblox
the indie crowd is the opposite of this espeically for cult classics
far less of a gradient between player counts
I’d say we do have a problems, a lot, occasional paper plane once a half a year isn’t one of them imo
When an update comes out I check to see if the planes I fly frequently have been remodeled or if one I've been waiting for is out.
I fly regardless because I don't play for novelty
i'm more excited to see what other features they add
features too
planes are cool and all but there's a lot of those already, i want better sound design, customization features on existing planes, etc.
I've been flying a lot more since the waypoint/flightplan system was added
aka reasons to fly the hundreds of aircraft in the game
Same, can’t wait when fly and hyper will add their stuff they were cooking recently
what has hyperant been cooking

or have i missed #dev-showcase posts
cough fucking turboprops cough
still waiting for the sound redesign on those
nope
It's been on the trello since 2022
What specifically
some of it yes, some of it no
None of the carrier group stuff Aussie were doing is old besides Kiev class
the ships in Future Vehicles
but some other ships
have been in limbo for a long time
Ships were delayed because no jobs for military ships, then we ran a vote and people voted to add them without jobs
Did it made it better?
Now they’re useless piles of pixels for millions of currency
cool-looking piles of pixels
Because we didn’t wanted to release half baked content?
Well either way we got a lot of complains they’re not ready which is unsurprising
Whats taking military jobs so long regardless
we've gotten like 10 different jobs in the meanwhile
no offense but i feel like i'll have a PhD before military jobs are complete
It’s kinda half baked when ship in grind game can’t even pay for itself
Fair enough
not enough coding devs AFAIK
Pretty much
bigger fish to fry as well
fly is cooking with QoL updates
what 10 jobs
idk who greenlit that poll, regardless of what players thought they shouldn't have been added until they had jobs
SAR stuff fly added
yea that is really cool
Medical evacuations, patient transport, fjord runs, maritime patrol, MSAR and SAR, random sightseeing
Finals weeks
as far as i remember though, that's kinda it
ironically i've only seen people complain about them not having jobs which means a lot of the people who voted "yes add them now" either don't play the game frequently or they just wanted something now now now and then got mad when they got it now now now
I mean, setting new spot for runs or sightseeing/SAR is not the same as to recode full job for a new class of vehicles
everything apart from SAR/medevac is a reskin of another existing job
also where are the maritime patrols
Most of those are based on coding we already had in game im pretty sure
Also not everyone is on Discord
So they could just dont know about it
yes that absolutely
A lot of people voted no too
this game is too dependant on "go to our discord for literally everything"
Well to be fair Roblox isn’t really friendly with in game announcements
idek how the game is still up with a discord link pasted inside because i've been banned 4 separate times on roblox for my own game having a discord code
knowing full well they wont come with jobs
like ??
A lot of Roblox games are like that
i stand by my
vote

roblox bias on small creators is insane
Afaik you can have discord link in group but not in game itself
its odd
DykeCarl
:zzzzbrhsje
Yep
also this poll summoned hyperant not once but twice
Thrice
so it has to be worth a shot right
roblox tos states that you have to use their inbuilt features (like social links) because they can hide them for under 13 users
so yeah pasting it in game is bannable and can get the game taken down
He was typing but didn’t sent
How you imagine updates tho
me making a poll suggestion for updates
another dudes voting on a game they dont play for vehicles without jobs
or alternatively backing away on something they voted to be added themselves
it depends on whether it is feasible at the time or not to have it high frequency or low frequency
right now it is the latter end as we still work on the patch/qol update
after that we will see
can i do the sound design for the game pls i want better turobprops
your funeral
I believe Aiden does sound thingies so you could discuss this with them
They’re not much active lately tho
i joke but i legitimately would like to help with better engine sounds for a lot of planes
so
forgot to answer you ingame but
technically it would be possible however its not something weve actually done before
(in regards to sound devs)
we dont have a backstocked list lmfao
infact i had to make a brand new backstocked list to organise this update a week ago
well is there any specific way aeronautica's sound is engineered or does it just plainly consist of sound ids
the actual audio is sound ids but the game makes like transitions and stuff between ids
so its both ig
yea i figured
that shouldn't be hard to work with as long as there's some way to preview sounds
yea
in order to get hired as a sound guy id say the process would be similar to our music guy
not every plane in the game needs a unique sound either i just wanna give the ones that can have one, one
as well as making the generic sound for all non-special aircraft better overall
like you would have to organise it with a lead dev or sth 🤷♂️
best asking rice if youre genuinely interested
yea thats fair
some audios are a bit
questionable
i messaged aiden like enclaved mentioned but no response
probably not supposed to dm or he's just busy so expected
should i dm or ping in server first when asking lol
yea aidens pretty busy and inactive nowadays
itd be best to ping rice
i dont think rice checks dms so
either way youd still probably have to wait for a contractor class
which im hoping is sooner rather than later
rice checks his dms if you ping him here beforehand
true
or at the very least let him know about something
dunno what that means tbh
contractor applications
basically you make some stuff for a month and if its good it gets added and you can become contributor
ooooooooh gotcha
from there contributors eventually become devs
well its worth a shot
that's eat_ric right
i haven't seen them referred to as rice until looking it up in the server lol
contractor class?
yes thats rice
ty lol
Boston in aero when
yes
I'd rather keep big updates, leave small updates for bugs and patch fixes
Manforce in developing is small, not every 3d Developer there can create new aircrafts in a week
Albeit slicing larger updates into few parts could be good too, leave the best for last ofc

So there is an update being organized
thats good to know
whole update list has been sent here like twice already
can you send it one more time just to make sure
i missed it can you send it again
how do people get the most up to date version when it gets buried in liveries in like 5 seconds
💀
imma be honest
im really excited for this update
so once in a while i search from:assermilitar 100%
great to know
oh fair lol
also i just woke up and foxbat
