General Information

Recently, China has publicly unveiled the Shenyang J-35A (part of the J-35 Series), a land-based stealth fighter. The J-35A is designed mainly for air combat operations and can also conduct air-to-surface attack. The J-35 is likely to be designed as a series and may also be used as carrier-based aircraft in the future. There are multiple variations including the FC-31 (Prototype), J-35 (Naval variant), and J-35A (Land based variant)

FC-31 Prototype

A 1⁄4 scale model of the FC-31 was shown at the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition 2012, hinting at a desire to offer the aircraft for export, as an alternative for those countries that cannot purchase the F-35.

looks identical

Already has a CATOBAR and CTOL variant

If a STOVL variant gets revealed I am losing it

Although I do like the aesthetic and im always hyped for a non-US carrier aircraft

The chinese have stepped up their copying game

since its so recently released and is still in prototype, stats of the J-35 and A variant will probably be released sooner or later, i prolly envisioned only the FC-21 will be added due to this suggestion as it was practically mainly just about FC-21 and its stats

-# ignore the fact i almost typed "f-35" instead of "j-35" when i was talking about it

the J-35s were borned after the FC-31

Although China learned a lot of things from the data leak

I know that

FC-31 and J-35 development started after a US data leak/hack

Physics works for everyone, they probably saw and took several different designs and see what works well

They learned a lot from it

which led to DAS and other stuff

Anyway despite being a ripoff I still would love to see the j-35 ingame

they're pretty similar

gritty minnow
# frail raven both can't reach Mach 1 loaded

Yes, but the f/a-18 was designed for supersonic flight, might not be able to get there with a full load its still capable with less weapons, the f-117 is designed for strictly subsonic flight

frail raven

# frail raven F-117 is kinda ducky ngl

Btw the reason the f-117 was designed for subsonic flight was because supersonic flight would require afterburning engines, afterburners would give of a higher RCS and heat signature

gritty minnow
frail raven
#

nevermind about RCS, and heat signature the F-117 doesn't even have an RWR

China would not copy its own dysfunctional fighter

frail raven
#

J-20 is fine

#

only the early J-20s were a problem due to using Russian engines, but AFAIK all of them have been converted to using WS-10Bs

#

only the newer J-20Bs and testbed are using WS-15

#

J-15s at least up to J-15B were also still using AL-31F

#

due to WS-10Bs not having as-fast of a reaction time

#

but it seems that issue has been resolved

signal blade
mortal dragon
#

i mean it being -35A does NOT help

#

imagine if the J-20 was called J-22A and didn't have canards

signal blade
mortal dragon
#

who would notice

frail raven
#

35A is the air force variant funnily enough, and weirdly it doesn't have an all moving rudder

#

unlike the PLAN variant of the J-35

#

and reportedly doesn't have DAS

#

for J-35A

#

J-35 still has it
