#taxiing for helicopters?
221 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
why?
you could just land and take off normally
no need to taxi
since they aren't planes
plus helis don't work like planes anyways
for aeroatc
This is for like refueling and stuff
If you are brave enough to circumnavigate a helicopter
Or a long job
You can taxi tho, just be careful with your inputs as you need to hover
already suggested by me
mid
make it so that if you press T you can taxi like aircraft
reverse VTOL
I’ve been trying to think how to implement this. Obviously it would only be applicable to helicopters with wheels, but maybe make it so pressing “;” similar to afterburner, triggers “taxi mode” and makes it so some of the controls change to be “go straight forward” etc. but maybe you still have to be careful because too much throttle would trigger a takeoff or something
Rolling takeoffs are a thing sometimes for helicopters
Or maybe instead of a toggle just add an extra control that accelerates straight forward
In a nutshell limited vtol capabilities?
As a mobile player, I'll stay neutral
make Z accelerate forwards yes
you could taxi but problem is aero helis are too sensitive
a little research could've save you from being wrong with that
MH-53E taxiing in for fuel and a fresh water rinse before heading out for more operations.
that was old as shit...
also im talking about in-game helis
the way they work don't really uhh
I know.
make them be able to taxi
helis definitely taxi irl yes but in game they don't
plus i doubt devs would wanna add that
They likely would if the helicopter mechanics gets reworked eventually
rn, they won't, cuz low priority
Ig
they'd need to recode a large chunk of the aero flight system if that's the case
things like autorotation and being able to float on water are still missing
and this
i would like this
nah float on water is only for specific models that able to do it natively
like Sea King
other helis don't but they have one time use emergency floats when they had to ditch the heli on water
PTFS can do it, so can Aero
I see
Better way to chain your heli
I remembered that time where some ppl tried to land on water when bell 47 had a float
what
Job chaining you know
??
Bro doesn't know job chaining
no way for 2 years
no, Im confused on why you said it's a better way to chain, could ya explain more
oh bruh
you just meant "quality of life for helicopter job chaining"
yeah
helicopters aren't very good at floating in water
Bell 47 with its floats:
does it have floats?
it had before
was removed cuz ppl tried to land on water
from what I remember
atleast what helicopters in game has them now
isn't that literally it's purpose?
it didn't work since it didn't float, it just sunk ingame
edit: added "ingame" incase ppl can't tell if I was talking about real-life or ingame

Doss anyone know what helicopters have emergency floats in aero
none lmao
no helicopters or VTOLs float
VTOLs in hover mode*
How did you the ingame model of the bell 47 with floats looked like
re-read your messages ty
also this
bell-47 had floats
I remembered making this gif
pressing t will switch from land to floats
that means making a new code for it to float
Yes
Only proof of the bell 47 with floats
Thats the only reason I bought it, thickk landing buoys
every conventional aircraft in-game floats tho
even homebuilt ultralights
it's their models that float slightly off the ground, not the hitbox
so no, technically they don't float because of the hitbox
no i mean
they float in water
fair
i think
idk
iforgorforogoorofroroogorogofrogfrrfgorf
i can understand the argument for a pressurized jet airliner
but aint no way the air creation racer can float like that
true..
maybe also make it so we can take off like this
CTOL helicopter?????

never let west germans have mil mi-8's
Soviet engineering at its finest
As in standard soviet engineering traditions they either could not afford engines powerful enough or severely overestimated the engine horsepower
You can ping me when you reply to me
Ok will do
Ok
Atleast where is the sound 😭
for some reason it didnt record it
but the ''sound'' was only music since it was grabbed from a vhs
Ok
defiant gang rise up
something like PTFS ?
Airbus

||The bad physics which needs you to be in a hard forward angle to move?||
The doohickey helicopter
||yes||
unfortunately that's a misconception in almost every game
even aeronautica does it to some degree (although it's not as bad as a lot of other games)
you can fly at maximum speed in a helicopter in as little as 4° forward
i'd say aero is pretty good
Yeah with the correct throttle amount you can manage relatively stable heli flight, unlike other games where you have to be facing directly to the ground to even move at 50 percent speed
27% throttle to take off
26% for leveled flight
anything above 30% is never worth using unless you need to expedite a takeoff/climb or need a massive burst of acceleration (such as emergency rescue jobs)
and then there's neo, where your heli has 0 gravity and you just fly forward like a balloon

Thats why I play Aerofly FS
i always take off at 100%
same if i need to gain altitude
27% will take you forever to take off
Tbh its a roblox issue and its soo hard to perfect, I understand them to not complain.
true, i'm just saying it's the limit
27% is the minimum for take off
Task Force made a demo with helicopter physics
it seems quite realistic, but it's so hard to control
when i'm job chaining i take off at like 30%
because it is realistic
i use 27% at -6°
I love to fly the S70i in Aerofly
i feel like -4° is mildly slower
you can maintain a 0 m/s vertical speed and max speed at 26% with -4°
great for job chaining
sometimes i feel like i lose speed when going above -5°
idk
you've probably used helis more than me
because you often do, it's really really hard to get it right but you get used to it eventually
wind is also a bit issue with Helis since they are very slow
2 knots headwind
once i get home i'll try to get an ungodly high multiplier with my V-12, wish me luck
that gives me PTSD
isn't the V-12 kinda bad tho
with its high cap
exactly
I was looking at this and then realized the tail is asymmetrical
I ain’t making that
But its from a different angle
No it is asymmetrical
It is at a angle
Ignoring that photo
The tail is asymmetric
it doesn't seem asymmetric to me, i wanna see what exactly you mean
The tail is rotated on the long forward back axis https://www.airbus.com/en/innovation/innovation-ecosystem/airbus-flightlab/racer
The Racer is a high-speed helicopter demonstrator that aims to leverage increased speed to deliver significant added value for citizens and operators.
my brother in christ the rutan boomerang exists, quit crying about the tail of a helicopter being tilted by 0.2 degrees to one side
Bro really had to change their argument
wdym
i just wanted proof that it was tilted
it is tilted, so what?

i mean
i don't model
so i can understand someone not wanting to do an assymetric model
It’s not too hard
It’s just annoying at times
And I don’t feel like doing that
Doesn’t mean someone else can’t
technically everything is asymmetrical because the atoms in the body panels of the fuselage aren't 100% perfectly aligned
checkmate
when was the last time you noticed that when looking at a model
the falcon 20gt's model had the engine nacelle on one side a tiny bit offset so the exhaust deflectors clipped inside of the supports
otherwise,
actually, i haven't checked the 20gt in a while
did that get fixed?
Brooo whaaat
Dang, it is
try hs 141, it's a great vtol for jobs cuz oil rigs
Airport to oilrig jobs gives surprisingly high reward
I mean it makes sense because landing at an oil rig is pain
you don't need to land on an oilrig, the job finishes on air as vtol mode
the supply and demand of the airport increases if there's less player visiting them
