The Future of Aviation
This aircraft was meant to replace the aging Boeing 757. During it's peak, it was a very sucessful aircraft, but in 2004 production stopped. Since then, Airline's Boeing 757 have been aging even more, with some being even 20-30 years of age. There are currently no newer replacements of the Boeing 757. Airbus has set out to make the A321XLR, a variant of The A321 Neo in the A320 Family . This aircraft will change the aviation industry.
Airline Orders
Orders from several airlines were announced, starting with Middle East Airlines(Launch Customer), which ordered four A321XLRs. Air Lease Corporation ordered 27 A321XLRs. Qantas placed an order for 36 XLRs, to be operated on routes between Australia and Asia. American Airlines converted 30 A321neo orders to XLRs and ordered an additional 20 XLRs. Indigo also placed an order for 50 XLRs for its airline divisions and Frontier Airlines ordered 18, bringing the total number of orders to 243.
