Focke-Wulf Schnellflugzeug

The Focke-Wulf Schnellflugzeug (Fast aircraft) was a Nazi VTOL circular fighter aircraft. This was a very late war project, initially patented in 1939, however work only started during the last years of the war when jet engine specifications became available. It has a circular airfoil with a large hole in the center where two contra rotating propellerss were housed in vertical configuration. Below the propellers, special flaps allowed for the airflow to be directed backwards post takeoff to achieve forward flight. The aircraft was not finished before the end of the war, however mockups were made for wind tunnel evaluation.
