It's just my honest reaction
sure
Let's keep in mind this is a Roblox game
The way thermals work and their effect on planes is a little too complex for the kind of game we're running
can we just add birds
just an aeronautican, but a bird
thanks
just flying aeronauticans
they already fly
delusional
YEA
PLEASE YES
I’ve flown in a thermal irl and it’s very fun :D
also what’s happening with the glider card on the trello? Has it just be forgotten about or abandoned?

Or better yet: Close suggestions to anything other than UI "Quality of Life" features
You with this again?

Many hundreds of apologies for bumping such an old suggestion but could I suggest that a simplistic approximation of thermals could be a decent compromise? If it were modelled as just a simple cylinder of "up" and a surrounding cylinder of "down" air, with just some arbitrary random value for the vertical velocity then I'm sure it could be quite simple. You guys have already implemented localised windspeed so a thermal can be affected by that, just as an aircraft would and to keep it as simple as possible, just "spawn" the thermals anywhere where there is land and its not a cold climate. If you wanted just a bit more detail you could have areas of hotspots over things like crop or settlements but if you're not interested in a huge amount of detail you don't need to add that.
I'm not sure what the status on gliders/sailplanes is but obviously if the development team is serious about implementing them, thermals would be the simplest way of allowing those flights to remain airborne (bc implementing something like wave or ridge soaring would be farrrrr too complicated). Otherwise all they'll be able to do is drop out the sky at a slower rate than normal aircraft and there wouldn't be much point in that.
Side note, what's the deal with contributions? From what I can tell from the trello some aircraft is noted as being assigned to the community but I can't find any details on how you would put forward a contribution.
Sounds plausible enough, up to coders ultimately
You can make models at your own discretion and post on #public-creations , if a dev takes interest in it they'll contact you
Be warned the standards have become quite high though, and it's less likely for your model to be accepted
Of course. I'd be happy to create a proof-of-concept as a reference after my finals if that would be of any help.
