The Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawk, while listed as a parasite fighter in Aeronautica, was in reality used as a recon aircraft. They were paired with the USS Macon and Akron, US Navy airships, as means to extend the scouting range and capabilities of the mothership rather than act as actual fighters. To this end, they were eventually refitted with an optional fuel tank in place of the main gear and were fitted with direction-finding sets and voice radios to allow them to scout outside of visual range of their mothership.
Ingame, this litlte plane suffers a lot based on its age. She’s slow and doesn’t have nearly as much range as more modern surveillance aircraft. However, I believe she would benefit a lot from being given small recon jobs. They couldn’t give very much and would be short duration (she only gets about 27nm range!) but it would make the aircraft even more unique and fun that it already is, giving players even more reason to pick up this interesting little airplane.
