Spartan Pack - Better weights

#

this is essentially the same weighting as was in previous spartan packs prior to Ekur. this includes the deforming elements of the following cores, on my control rig (the same one in the 2.0 pack put together by @/MrGruntington):

  • Mirage
  • Rakshasa
  • MK IV
  • MK V
  • MK V (B)
  • MK VI G1
  • MK VII

this does not include any of the other customization, this is a leaner file size just so you can get better deformation. if need be, I can look into adding other bodies that aren't included.

Credit:

  • @/Zangh for the initial pack (and those who put the pack that he aggregated from)
  • @/AuroraThePideon for the skinning
  • me for the rig
#

there shouldnt be any issues with texturing or weighting, but if you run into anything let me know.

This is a guide i wrote to how to put older spartan pack models on this rig

Do models imported by ekur use this updated rig by default?

wintry meadow
#

They use a similar rig to this, but the game weights are less desirable. I doubt this works with ekur but never tried

sage basalt
#

Alright

#

Is there a way to take a spartan imported with ekur and put it onto this rig?

wintry meadow
#

like i wrote its on a similar rig already, but this has the better weights on the meshes themselves. you can do it multiple ways, the best way would be make your ekur spartan parent transfer over the hard surface stuff that dont exist (helmets, shoulderpads etc) and copy the material over from the duplicates. you might need to do some uv coord fixes depending on the core, its nothing more than rotating the uv 10 degres and flipping it on the X axis

Yeah I meant the weights, thank you!

whatever works

#

i just copy the mat and do the uv fix

#

less work

CĂłmo puedo controlar mejor las manos para posarlas?? No logro hacer la pose que necesito

How can I better control my hands to pose them? I can't get the pose I need with my hands.

just to be 100% sure, can I ask what exactly using this rig would change compared to the current spartan pack's rig?

wintry meadow

i see
i might give it a go tomorrow 👍
hopefully will go smoothly

night mortar
#

it did not go smoothly
I tried replacing the spartan-pack's rig with the one here (i do not know if that would actually change anything but regardless it does not appear to have worked)

wintry meadow
#

you dopnt need to do any replacing, the only thing you need to add is the hard elements to the existing pack. so the helmets attatchments and what not

night mortar
#

ah i see
ill try that tomorrow
what if one of the spartans is using the CE-style chief legs or arms? those dont seem to be included in the better weights, and it also has the shin, boot and knee joined as one

wintry meadow
#

then youd better be off trying to find an older upload of them, if not then you might want to manually reweight them

does anyone know a way to optimise this rig for animating?
the older spartan pack ran smoothly (19-ish fps) with around 4 animated spartans visible, this one drops to 11fps with 4 spartans

Sorry for the direct ping @wintry meadow
I have followed the instructions step by step from your Powerpoint, renamed the bones and everything, and I have been stuck for a few hours, I am trying to attach this better weights rig to BR312 from the Noble Pack.
Is there something I am missing? Thanks in advance.
P.S
I messed with the Geometry to make it look "better," "cleaner" could that be an issue?

wintry meadow
#

if you want to use the same mesh youd have to do some data transfers for the vertex groups then put it on the rig

#

the only reason id do it is if you want better face normals. the existing mesh is fine in most parts

daring marten
#

This absolutely made it work, thanks!
