Well, last night was the first time learning the guys name. Any time me or someone else asked someone who posted a WH model “who made it”, or “where did it come from”, we were always hit with the 1 word answer: “private” as if it was made by someone who’s name wasn’t allowed to be spoken, like beetlejuice or something

Weird, though, I've never thought of simply telling someone "it's private" as not wanting to say who made it. Though typically I would think of keeping Joazzz's name out of my mouth so people don't out of no where jump into his DMs

I'll give a short rundown real quick on Joazzz's model history: he first started with Space Marine(the game) models, then moved up to Regicide models. Over time those were modified, and became gen 2. Gen 2 was when things really took off, it was completely public & anyone could use them. Since this was before VRChat and all, it was mostly GMod and SFM where they were used.

Everyone was using them, including RP servers. RP servers would end up messing with the models, breaking them, and would try to sell them. This was namely Russian ones, and the Russian RPers tended to be Nazi LARPers or some shit.

Joazzz moves on to make better models, the long-elusive gen 3. Higher quality materials & textures, improved meshes, so on. He decided to make this generation private partly because of the aforementioned RP server people, but also because Joazzz himself got into official business. The privacy stayed this way after the fact primarily because of the aforementioned RP server people still though

Eventually VRChat dropped, a few people ported over to that, and gradually it leaked from there.

Now G3 is... technically no longer private. No one should be caring for G3 'cause they're now out in the public through mostly VRChat, lots of people have it.

There are newer models than that, gen 5(skipped 4 as part of an inside joke). Those have stayed mostly private, but a Russian Nazi infiltrated the group, and leaked it. So far, it's... weirdly not out there? So far G5's being kept by those Russians, who are THE LAST PEOPLE who should be getting it ever. They're the exact reason why it all went private.

Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about them, but otherwise G5 hasn't flooded the internet yet. It remains private out of mutual respect between friends, skilled artists, and Joazzz himself.

I understand it's frustrating seeing those models floating around, and getting told off so bluntly. It's no excuse, but malevolent actors like the aforementioned Russian Nazi LARPers are the exact reason why the models were made private. It's not some intentionally spiteful gatekeeping thing random snob douchebags are doing now, it was originally just a group of friends of Joazzz's following his wishes.

Well it wasn't originally, but GW made Mk6 standard for HH2.0. Rogue Trader started with what was to become Mk6 I believe.

The RT style Mk6 was recently retconned into an entirely separate pattern of armor in HH2.0, called "imperial pattern". It was supposedly "made available" between Mk2 & Mk3(according to Lexicanum, which cites the HH2.0 book Age of Darkness)
