is it supposed to show up in the extension when you're logged in? I clicked grant permission>login, and it just opens another window on 7tv.app, but then nothing
should really be added as it is kinda annoying to see many highlights that are completely useless while just enjoying a big streamer
yeah its not fully implemented
but it will let you essentially manage your 7tv account via the extension
w/o needing to go to the site
ok, and no way to change chat/twitch UI color yet, right? I should still use FFZ for that?
likely wont happen unless this becomes a 7tv creator feature right @kindred crown ?
this is non trivial
ffz's solution is just to manually override every place in the style sheet where colors are used
even though they have css vars
I dont beleive they are used in 100% of places
maybe needs testing
uh i mean we should support the ffz color settings if theyre broken atm
the creator tier feature is about streamer defining custom theme to be enabled for everyone
yeah ik
which would need this anyways
so if that was implemented a user option would be trivial
1,300 people so far have claimed the beta paint
claim THIS
1,301 now
I would make it 1,302 but I'm too boomer for this
is it not letting you log in for anyone else?
doesnt work atm
just type in twitch chat and u get it 😄
does it matter what chat?
i did and it didnt work
Now it did wtf Ricardo you are a wizard
🪄
u lie
weird
pree sure others cant see it anyways
it worked for me
oh wait
whenever i reload the page it says im running 2 instances of 7tv
i just dont know how to use the new site
do i just remove the old version
i even have the old paints from when i subbed last ?
yes
i think others can, unless its bugged atm
i was looking for months, and just now i notice i have 17 paints
maybe other beta users can, i just tested with my normal 7tv on a diff browser n i couldnt
oh wtf
so many skins but no beta testerr
i dont even know where you find this.
ay i restarted the browser and it has applied automagically
7tv.app > click on ur profile > edit profile
Thank you, Ricardo, you are a real lifesaver
np
still no work after restart
might take some time, no idea
true
took like 2 minutes
or so
On my botacc that's never been signed in on 7tv before.
twitch doesnt have a 30 second delay + immediate fan anymore on my mom's 2014 macbook air
W
and i can actually use other tabs with no lag
i got it W
Code seems fine
ye the paint is not global
cannot login in latest beta, its a bug?
yea its not working apparently
Yea all you do is install the beta, type in chat and probably visit 7tv.app and login there to see if you got it.
I love this beta, most of the features are great.
the timeouts / perma messages are not available or need to be toggle on?
you can see the message greyed out currently but not the timeout length for anyone other than yourself as a normal user
i did all the things and its not working for me 😦 the login page never actually logs in for some reason
are you talking about this? it doesnt work as of yet
is it just me or is the first message padding weird
meanwhile subs and channel point redemptions are fine
agreed

i think the that new padding is supposed to be intentional and all subs and point redemptions are gonna match that design or stay different
looks cursed
yeah could be better
but dont really care
i guess design a better one and anatole may consider it
a little bit more padding, even only on the left side would help
or moving the line to left a bit, to use some of that empty space
agreed
did this beta remove the highlights of messages where you get tagged in? I don't seem to get that anymore
It works fine for me, are you sure you are using the right beta https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/7tv-beta/fphegifdehlodcepfkgofelcenelpedj
yeah I am

What other extensions do you also have for twitch?
Open the 7tv settings (top right) and make sure you are on version v3.0.0.6100
yeah I am
use the 7tv beta extension, type once in chat and it should appear in your paint inventory
Hello all, when i Select Login
I click on Grant Permision, the button changes to Login
And upon selecting the Login button it just opens a pop'ed out page with the 7tv.app (already logged in)
And it does not login with the extension
They haven't said otherwise, so I'd assume so
Added to tickets, either way
Yes, it will be use-able as a non-sub on the v3 build
@royal current login doesnt do anything at the moment anyway
they disabled it for now
probably the same reason ffz removed emotes of Gootecks

I’m running out of ideas what to have as personal emotes. Generic Pepe emotes will soon get banned because they are “too green” or something
well that and also they're racist

Just wanna say thank you for adding the first message thing!!!
Does the beta paint work on v2?
Talking about the actual beta tester paint
Not the feature

The Beta Tester Paint does not show up on the v2 version of 7TV
Paints were already set in v3 but worked like v2 for v2
so idk why it wont show on v2
So I would assume since it works on the same system, it would show in v2
the way I understood is that it would work like a normal paint but non-subs could only use it on v3
but it doesn't work on v2 at all for me

I'm at work
Lol
Stfu pieter
You asked to be flamed by linking that

I'm at work and didn't read properly, still tried to help. Fucking moron
Same here btw

Has anyone had an issue with the beta and watching VODs? The emotes do not seem to show up to me when watching a VOD with the beta extension
yeah same for me, no vods emotes for now...probably need just a little fix
@pearl dragon looks like Anatole is starting work on it as of today #tasks message
Send a chat message while using the beta
tnx
Chrome (left) / Firefox (middle) / Chatterino 7.4.0 (right)
Ever since the tweet about the epic paint
yesterday, paints & 7tv badges do not seem to show properly in Firefox
is your Firefox using the latest beta version?
Chatterino is still on v2 so it won't be supported
i know the new paint wont work in chatterino, and yes firefox is using v3.0.0.6100
Beta paint won’t show up in v2 clients
btw
like I just said
Sensitive topic
Changed badge and paint just to test, still nothing showing in Firefox (left) using beta version v3.0.0.6100, same message shown in chatterino (right) just for reference of what it should be showing
Anyone else not getting highlighted msg when getting tagged in a twitch chat? The option on BTTV is on but dont see anything for 7TV. Idk if this is the right channel or not
bttv's extension does not make any changes to the chatbox when you have the 7tv beta extension
7tv's extension has a completely re-written custom chatbox
as for the lack of highlights on 7tv I think they're still trying to work it out
Damn yeah can't mod a chat if i dont see myself getting highlighted
is anyone else showing 19:00 for timestamps over-and-over?
I'm adding a new emote to a channel and it shows a different old ass msg from 30min+ ago everytime I do
yeah its a known bug
my messages are greyed out in xqc's chat
that means they are not sent
your message is not gurantee to be sent, beta extension or not
the beta chat shows your message didnt send through
twitch's native chat doesnt show you that
When xqc had his chat on screen i switched to the stable version and all my messages were showing up on screen without a problem and then i switched to the beta and none of them showed up
just because it is not grayed out in stable doesnt mean it is sent
If its not sent why would it show up on screen in the chat?
you mean in xqc's stream?
yes
but hes not showing chat on stream
The beta dosnt do anything to messages you send other than that they grey them for you until you get a response from twitch
Earlier when he started he had chat on screen
It only happens in fast chats
that's bc by default messages don't send in fast chats unless you time it perfectly at a low point in messages sent
I always do that
Anatole confirmed this the other day when I posted it in issues. the difference between the beta and native is we just would have never known
Exactly
That's why, in Chatterino, I would have my own messages highlighted so I can see when they actually sent
(as opposed to disappearing into the void)
But really, I shouldn't have to detect that manually
That's where the new extension can be super useful
It could tell you when your message didn't send, or even automatically retry it
Twitch is NOT going to like that.
I'm sure they drop messages because they have to, not because they want to.
Is there going to be an option to adjust the alternating message background color via hex? Similar to BTTV.
That would be nice. My secondary monitor is ass and could use a bit more contrast.
That would be nice. I'd suggest writing it here: https://discord.com/channels/817075418054000661/1063506536154026024
they 100% do in large streams. I've watched my shit go off into the void
I know they DO
mr cow didnt read my funni message
I just meant they probably have to
but I say "probably" because maybe they're just being completely pepega
it makes sense when you see how many messages come in at a time on large streams/fast chats. it was a shock to see how often shit goes into the void for the first time tho
can i ask what do i get if i try the beta?
you get a paint
The beta paint
Type in chat with the beta extension to get it
Try out our new Browser Extension v3.0.0 beta and get a special paint!
Subscribers can also try out Personal Emotes ahead of full release.

like the color of your name?
correct
ok bet. last question, do i have to disable 7tv first or is it okay to have them both on?
disable the 7tv extension to use the beta
thanks

is this a bug? my timestamp in chat is broken
yeah that one is a known bug
thank you for the reply! ❤️
Is there a way to get that Mention alert back from bttv ?
After the beta version its not working anymore for me

Is the 'crossed-out' message the beta version of message deleted?
Also, I think I replied to a message in a thread without replying to the first message, is that a feature?
it's greyed out because it wasn't actually sent
Not my message, I see someone else's message then a few seconds later it crosses out
And it was a message that might be deleted by mods
Yes when a message is crossed out that means it was deleted or the person got timed out
When your messages are greyed out that means they werent sent
Before i even try, are StreamerDoesntKnow or DoesntKnow allowed as personal emotes ? They are locked into the set for an hour otherwise
what emote were you looking to add? I got a free slot that I dont care about for an hour
i would assume "StreamerDoesntKnow or DoesntKnow"
pending review
They were both rejected
ALL BROKEN NOW 😦
"kekw"

might have to disable FFZ if you have it. someone else was getting the same problem yesterday
@sacred pike THANKS 🙂
KEKW

hi hello just here to say i deployed beta 7 which does a few new things
also animated avatars are now supported and they refresh instantly instead of taking hours

emojis were quite a pain in the ass so i hope you appreciate it
the approach i took is quite novel too, i dont think anyone has implemented it that way before
all the emojis are loaded into memory and referenced as svg object pointers

simple really
def appreciate that one! there was a few times today I tried to do this ⭕ and had to copy paste from a google search
out of curiousity when you said vertical chat padding are you talking about the thing where the most recent message would sometimes be partially below the chat box?
ye
its coming along mr tole
lets go! should that also fix when a stream is in slowmode and the message was behind that as well?
yea it is, parity should be reached before the end of the week
then im giving it until mid-feb to add some more stuff, fix issues, then we go live
ITS SO CLOSE YALL
what other stuff is on the table? @kindred crown
just small things?
assume that means the beta tester paint is only available until release date then

i mean do u think i wrote an entire new extension from the ground up only to stop at parity

😭
im so sad that i cant even get that beta paint even when im using the beta
its so clean
why can't you get it?
I been rocking over slashed which was my alltime fave
no you wrote it so we can contribute shitty code that sticks several components into an infinite
loop
did you not hear the news?
and the only recourse is that vue is fast enough for you to not notice most of the time

fuck no
when's the next appeal?
april
what are they like every 3 months?
I'm pagging IRL
should re-arrange emotes. emoji to bottom, others on top
i don't have all those other emotes at the bottom
do you have ffz installed
this happens when you hover over emotes now
https://discord.com/channels/817075418054000661/1063967063019888640
also is the 1x -> 4x or whatever it scales up to in the preview intentional
beta 7 just added them
oh oh the bottom ones
where are they from
do you have any other emote extensions
just disabled ffz, no more
well there ya go

i think eventually there will be a rewrite to the ffz 7tv add-on
probably after beta is concluded
but it seems to conflict a bit with the beta
there's probably just no specific priority atm

rather than forcing a certain order implementing a favorites system like FFZ has where you can just ctrl+ leftclick an emote and favorite it/add it to the top of the list would be top tier! not sure which is easier from a dev standpoint tho
will the beta paint ever be a real paint rather than client side(only visible to you)?
All paints are real paints
It’s a real paint. If you’re not subbed, other beta users can still see it. But if you’re subbed, all people can see it, even if they’re using the old extension still
ahh ok, using beta on firefox and chrome on 2 diff accounts n cant see the paint between their messages
prob cause im not subbed i spose
I think the difference is due to the new cosmetics system
Are you using the beta on both Firefox and Chrome?
yes, type on the chrome acc n paint only shows on that acc, and vice versa
Hmm.
Well that’s how I understood it to work at least, but I could be forgetting something
I can't see it on v2 clients
Is there a option or any word of a option to auto claim channel points?
Surely been suggested already so didn't want to make one and maybe the option exists just idk about it
switching emote tabs feels a little laggy now
especially the emoji tab
it goes down to like 5fps and it takes a solid second to make the switch
scrolling through emojis is also laggy
doesn't exist yet but def will be added in the future
Beta remakes the chat so every extension that has chat related stuff won't work
Also, don't run bttv and 7tv at the same time, even with the old extension
10x
im doing the beta test and there is something that happened
had to log out and log back into 7tv and it took away my access to the subscription and it is saying that i need to re sub
Automatically claim channel points.
You can use this
you need violentmonkey or tampermonkey or something though
by log out do you mean you unlinked your twitch connection then signed out
yes
why
either way right click the sign in button then log in with discord
Sounds fun
But you think it will run twitch?
it does

i was having trouble loggin in
Hope you get your pc fixed
thx
@kindred crown i did and its says my old username tuxstv instead of tuuxs
but tuuxs and tuxstv are the same account
yeah thats normal
we dont support name changes atm
Is anyone else having the problem where its tabbing "om" when trying to tab OMEGALUL

ah
it might be tabbing an emoji
looks like emojis arent filtered out of tab completion
good catch
yeah its doing it when i try to tab AlienPls too, its tabbing to just alien and alien-monster
asked for default emoji's and ruined everything
was the mod slider bug fixed or is that planned in a upcoming update
it's fixed
ok thanks
Also i improved the performance of the emote menu
Shouldn't feel laggy next patch
It was having trouble with the thousands of emojis added to it lule
not even including twitch emotes 3rd party emotes alone could be what like 1150?
almost 4800 emojis and emotes to load
oh right emojis now
Will we be able to outright disable entire emote sets in future updates? Would be nice to disable Emoji, Hype Train Emotes and other useless stuff.
are these icons just placeholders for now? https://i.imgur.com/QvQcUAg.png
🙂
placeholder yes
🙂
Btw we don't use a CDN for emojis, all of them are locally served
The extensions has all the emoji vectors within it (hence the 2MB bump to download size) and loads them into the page
theyre just all there, being referenced by their pointer
i was actually surprised that this ended up performing
it's absolutely not something youd do on a traditional website, but since this is offline content, it makes perfect sense

idk what any of that means
each <g> is one emoji, this is spread over multiple blocks of 350 each, for all ~4000 of them
these get gradually loaded into the page
sounds good

youll actually notice this if , after refreshing you open the menu and go to the emoji tab
see how the emojis slowly load in block by block (this is technically not necessary but is done to avoid stalling the ui thread, as for the first few seconds you probably dont need to see all emojis instantly)
it was more of a concept i was trying out, didnt think itd wind up a viable option, but so far it works pretty nicely
you mentioned this was different compared to how other extensions handle emojis? is there a perk to doing it this way or just proof of concept?
ahh nvm answered

the way other extensions render emoji (ffz/bttv) i think is with an atlas
just a giant png
with positional indexes
the downside of this is it's bitmap and thus the emojis are low resolution
with the way i implemented it it's vector and will unconditionally look perfect
What is the reason for not using the system default Emoji?
because they look like shit?

also people want to be able to see emoji in the emote menu and use autocomplete
Obviously that is highly subjective to begin with but I would imagine most people are just used to whatever their system uses.
well, this isn't a mobile app
it's a desktop browser extension
theres no default system emoji on desktop
technically there is on windows but have u even seen how those look
Pretty sure both Windows and macOS have Emoji at "system level" for a while now. Like you can use Emoji in file names or wherever.
yeah but they look like poopoo
like they look bugged
and overly small
just not an acceptable solution
twemoji is the only good looking emoji set let's face it
unfortunate that it might be a dead project now
but doesnt matter , aint like the emoji spec is adding too much useful stuff anymore
i like the old google emojis a lot
the blobs?
not that old
On macOS the Emoji are 160 pixels I think. That's not too bad.
emoji maintainers 🫃
although i do think google emojis look very out of place on desktop
anything that isnt twemoji looks unnatural to me
the absolute worst emojis out there are the old LG emojis
i had LG phones for years and never learnt how to fucking differentiate
have you seen the mozilla emoji set?
they all look the fucking same https://emojipedia.org/lg/g3/
that skull emoji
mozilla are goofy with the ears but not as bad as old lg
Wait, Microsoft has at least 3 different Emoji styles?
Different sets for Windows, Skype, Teams etc?
Some are animated too.
skype always had its own look so i guess they kept that
some vendors have multiple yeah
usually because of acquisitions
like a program they acquire already had an emoji set so they keep it because the users were used to it
omg old fb messenger emojis were so goated https://emojipedia.org/messenger/
so cute
skype wasn't using emojis in the past though
they had their own
like
thing
emoticons
or smileys whatver they called them
they were animated and shit
Which were also different from MSN smileys at the time of acquisition I guess.
What a bag of hurt.
yeah all that was before the emoji spec
or at least before companies accepted it as a standard
firefox has twimoji now
build in
also
you dont like the mozilla emojis?
whats not to love
ah
aaaaaaaaaaa

whoever pitched the idea to add ears needs to be fired
Why are some of them blue.

yeah why are some fucking blue

🦊
they tried to be quirky i guess
🐱

😻
did u guys ever use kik
u could buy special emoji packs on there
true
i only ever heard of kik as a catfishing app
yeah i remember kik
i had a friend who did catfishing for money
it def was
ice cream emoji set >>>>>
looks like fiverr npc emote packs
even the foxes
on the mozilla set
are fucked up
looks like something
that jason
would set as his pfp
i used the sloths on kik
they look like some kind of made in china fox
those are sentient turds

Well who did it best? https://emojipedia.org/skull/
skype
yo that shit looks like they unearthed remains from some alien/predator hybrid

did skype actually merge their "smileys" with emoji
and did animated stuff for ALL thje emojis
aint no way
I didn't even know Skype was still around. I thought it got replaced with Teams or whatever.
its used by business mainly
I know there was Skype Business back in the day but wasn't Team's whole purpose basically the Skype for… businesses.
We use Teams at work anyway. Or well, some do. I attend in person instead.
its the same thing i tihnk
like same program
teams = skype
might be wrong but thats what i imagined
Would make sense. Or they're competing with themselves.
skype still exists yeah

should i add info about when an emote was enabled and who added it, in the emote tooltips/cards
mmm
i say yes
add it as an option?
i think it can be inside the card rather than the tooltip
thats when you click an emote
i was gonna put in a suggestion about add history actually
"recently added emotes" could be nice to have

id like the extension to be as useful as the website
i think thats nice to have
especially as it's in a much cleaner state than the site atm

A bit unrelated but when do we get the name paint for beta testing?
I got two badges
you should have the beta paint now if you have typed in any chat while having the beta extension on
known bug if you unequipped a badge
Found it, ty
am i remembering wrong or did u make it so u can use beta and ffz at the same time
it should be mostly compatible
But disable the 7tv ffz addon and colon completion in ffz settings
Next patch those will get turned off autonomously
should pin this or something
.
A day or two
How to use paint?
select paint
where?
are you a sub? let's start with that
Do I have to be a subscriber for this?
I assume you mean the beta paint. you dont have to be a sub for that paint
either way, to select a paint, you press here and choose one
Is this the 7tv app?
that's the website
Ok
Thanks
Looks like I did everything right, but still empty in "Paints". Btw I use Edge browser
did you type in chat after installing the beta?
Yep
make sure to disable the live extension (version 2) also
only have the beta enabled
all disabled
did you cock
My 7TV Beta stopped working today so I turned off extension and turned it back on and still couldn't see my nameplate or badge in Twitch chat.
So I decided to sign-out of my 7TV account and to sign back in to fix the issue but now I cannot even sign back into 7TV on any browser. Just get an error message.
The extension is still working in Twitch chat to a certain degree for me, I can see all 7TV emotes and use them but my badge and nameplate will NOT appear and cannot sign back into the website.
you unlinked your twitch account?
looks like it
i wouldnt call that signing out but just right click the sign in button then use discord to sign back in
relink your twitch account from there
@wind sapphire
randomly came across the component while making a different feature so i quickly added this in
🤙
ez clappers
Also add auto "moment" claiming too if you see it. xqcL
moments
Although it almost seems like they're already claimed automatically if you happen to be watching at the time
not sure
but I've definitely gotten a lot without clicking anything
huge
Thank you that worked
where'd you find it

ffz has a component criteria for it
I wonder how bttv does moments
if they just do a setInterval
eshrug already did it anyway, it just hooks the render function and checks if the button is being shown
i think all the autoclaim addons are basically bitcoin miners
think they all do the same thing which is querying the DOM on an interval
ffz has one
@river oyster true?
well raven's is exactly that, but im gonna assume all others (aside from ffz and 7tv) do the same shit
safe assumption to make because any small addon that adds 1 feature probably isnt making any effort to set up low level hooks on twitch's react
yeah i looked
bttv does this as well
their code is almost exactly as small as ravens
interval -> query for clickable button -> click it
🙂

Hiya, I'm a big fan of 7tv and I've just installed the 3.0 beta to try it out, I just can't find any way to add emotes to favorites like in the 2.2.3 version, is there any way to do this? if not I wanted to suggest you to implement such feature
good job so far tho
there was no way to add favorites in 2.2.3, but it is planned
wip thing will finish it tomorrow
highlights recent timeouts, bans and message deletions and shows a list of users who are actively timed out
layout type shit anyways gn

i think some people will mald about this feature but i think they should just learn how to be transparent 💿
it does kinda bring the ability to the average joe to closely see what mods are doing
some other things like whether it was a bot timeout (and an option to filter those out) will also be added
that's sick wtf
actual good setting
also the sword icon is to view messages from mods in general
so like a mod chat?
yea idk. some mod actions are meant to keep the chat clean so normal users can enjoy a stream without interruptions. This feature, if available to everyone, would bring too much attention to the background work of a channel.
It's not much different from any of the extensions that bypass chat nukes or anything
chad transparency enjoyers dont care if something is "background"
I'm sure it can be disabled anyways if people don't care to access it
not everyone is a
and I think it should at least be respected to have different opinions on that. streamers for sure will have
this is actually meant to be the replacement for the "user was timed out" messages that were in the old extension anyway
a cleaner and more useful alternative
I assume you hold the same stance on the option in extensions for deleted messages/banned users to not be removed from chat, yeah?
or is this like why they were timed out?
lipton i dont think i worded it that badly
it lets you view messages sent by moderators
thats it

It tracks messages sent by mods, yeah

Mod aboose
not funny
nope. These features are quiet similar but there are differences. deleted messages/bans in chat will go away after a few seconds depending on chat size. having a whole history of these events concentrated in one place will give it more attention and will lead to more discussions regarding them.
that's not good imo
if the community wants to discuss something, whats wrong with that
I mean a mod can just time someone out if they continue bringing up something that they no longer want discussed
that's on the chatter
Mod log when raided by bots
I get what you're saying but I don't think it's as big of an issue as you're concerned it'll turn into
people already point out bans when it's just one grey message, the only difference this would really bring is users might be able to see patterns and raise questions, perhaps spot abuses of power
which is fine i think
(some) streamers like to have kind of control about what happens in their chat. at least kind of. I just think this feature would give the whole topic more attention than it needs to have as a normal viewer. transparency is nice and spotting abuse of power is a nice example of why this feature could be a benefit, but there are probably examples for why it isn't good as well. If a streamer don't want to have topic X in their chat and mods keep deleting messages about it, a log will lead to more question about topic X which isn't the intention of deleting those messages. idk, maybe I'm overthinking these. we'll se
*see

yeah i mean i expect a little bit of upset over this feature, there hasnt really been anything like it exposed to the average user before, so who knows what it'll do
why would they be upset? dont they use chatterino?
but there are bright sides to it also
like it could help users understand whats not allowed in a community
they can check the things people get moderated for and see that they shouldnt type those things
like mod blocks?
I mean people will know the ban pattern with or without mod log either way. Not a whole lot of secrecy is affected

lipton i have no idea what youre saying sorry
would this be actions like mods blocks a specific word, for example "LiptonGod has blocked Kappa"
or would this be more bans/timeouts
was that clarified more? sorry
only information that is exposed by twitch's servers
interesting...
im all for it regardless

i know fs people will be upset about it but who cares
its a cool feature
actual equality to viewers

Actually a nice approach but don't forget that ~20% of people have an IQ below 85... Information is nice, and all of that is publicy available, but sometimes it's good to not focus all of that information to everyones attention
i mean... at least make it an optional feature disabled by default or something x)
if it actually brings toxicity i could consider adding a way to disable it on a channel
more buttons mr tole!
but i dont see it becoming a big issue really
The info is already publicly available if you use chatterino
it is essentially just organizing public info
in a neat, searchable and consumable way
I’m 100% in favor of it
i think if anything the only people who are more mad is gonna be the mods
yea but who cares about mods anyways

this same UI is also useful for mods wanting to quickly review actions (when you're a mod, the reason and name of the actor will also appear)
Based 7tv with its massive install base Jiggachad
actually huge
then its all equal then
3rd party software doing 3rd party things
inb4 aiden babyrages and gets timeout info hidden
mods cant mald because the extension is bringing them a bunch of new features
not false
actually have many things lined up for mod tools
/ban nightdev
Did you know Beemo supports Slash Commands? They are the new, recommended way to discover and run commands! Type / to see them all.
even though its a useless viewing tool imo

i personally dont like it
m
d view
its so bad
/ban Anson
*Anson was banned *
i just use it to add mod block actions and thats it

it's actually rancid to use, dear god
when I accidentally click the button to go to it I mald
its so shit
im sorry to say it
ill always remember the guy who developed the mod view complained about twitch in that one twitter space
i cant imagine the dev experience of a twitch web engineer is very pleasing
given how awful the site runs
yeah
which indicates it's riddled with bad code

this would be my main concern, there are definitely stuff that is blocked before it has ever been said in chat to protect privacy etc and needs to not be leaked
i think those specific things are blocked
i think
i hope so

im torn on this honestly
i think this would be the best approach if it shows more than deleted messages, timeouts and bans
i know chatterino shows "saffy blocked the term X" in chatterino for all mods, so while that should still be shown to all mods i definitely don't think that should be visible to everyone in chat simply because it might contain sensitive information
oh yeah ofc
Twitch also offers a private block list which is meant for privacy related terms and is only available for the streamer. Out of curiosity: Is this information available via chatterino as well?
will we get Safari support?
i know, but that's only available to the broadcaster/channel owner and mods might have to add something on the fly
on chatterino you can see which term has just been blocked by other mods yes, the private list no
my preference would be for this to stay hidden to other chatters, at a stretch maybe "a blocked term was added" but that also feels quite silly to keep in
xdd beta version made my potato laptop hang
@wind sapphire blocked terms aren't public
All this does is organize things like timeouts/bans neatly
alright, im not opposed to that
Info other clients let you see as well, but with a fancy ui
was just catching up on all this. I like it!
Just learned it is also public information when a user's timeout is removed
that's gonna be new, no clients show this info currently
ooh
@wind sapphire welp i was wrong, it is also public information when a blocked term is added or removed
it's going in
oh no no no there is so much information that is exposed actually
holy fuck
people are gonna be upset
🤜 💿 transparency
if it just says a term was blocked thats a bit better but please dont show the term ☹️
anatole i dont think you should apply that imo
showing the term is too far
thats too much sensitive information
yeah yeah it's just showing it's blocked, totally not showing all the info and which mod did it

what the fuck
im so sorry
i cant tell if youre being facetious
i dont think it should be added
theres a lot of people who want sensitive info blocked for that reason
then bad actors could already be listening to that data anyway
adding it in might just make twitch patch it
so it's a good thing
no
i dont think so
they could, but that doesnt mean you should make it readily available to people that didnt know they could use that info, and now might for bad reasons
putting stuff in that is not known could lead to bad stuff
the emote thing for example
no one told twitch about it
at all
and every mf who did it got banned including me
so not sending tickets/bug reports is a bad thing
including blocked terms
this isnt an exploit though it's data being sent to clients
i think adding that will give you some serious backlash and not just a couple upset people
i agree saffy
like genuinely not the best business decision
^
i get its all public info and transparency matters, but when it comes to blocked terms, youll get a lot of heat for it
chaos reigns
im being serious

its a serious matter anatole
i'll make it default off
but i am displaying any info i see
i still think it shouldnt be a thing, defaulted off or not
i dont want to feel like my private information is being put at risk from a twitch extension
well you're wrong to think it's private to begin with
because it's not in this case
i get that, but why are you so willing to present that info to people
There will be so many streamers, probably some big streamers, which will get "private" data leaked within a matter of hours. Even though it's not really private, it's still private enough so 99.9% of people don't know about it
because people will say your address
THIS YOU??
im sorry to say this but that entire list of words
might actually be publicly available
im not gonna go out of my way to find it
and wont go that far
but this isnt protected
dont put your address there, bad idea
normal blocked terms are shown to all mods of a channel yes, added terms are shown in chatterino to mods too, but i truly fail to see how anyone would benefit from the entire term being visible to all of chat
maybe report it to twitch or use your reach to bring enough attention to the topic so they might actually care.
is that at least just the blocked list and not the private blocked list?
whats private blocked list?
i would assume its the list thats made by mods
its a separate list only visible to the channel owner
theres a list in the dashboard settings that no mods, only broadcaster can see
its this
no in dashboard settings
anything added or removed here is publicly available
the private one just means theres terms that no mods can see in the mod view ever
^^
I think the streamer has to add it through the dashboard and choose it as a private term. Someone I mod for had their IRL name leaked by a friend who found their stream and she added her name private.
they do yes
if you choose to release this please be EXTREMELY CLEAR about it beforehand
so as many people as possible have time to move sensitive info to the private list
looks like if its set as private, it doesnt go out publicly
so that should be safe then
as long as private lists dont leak. im for it being included if the information being displayed is already publicly availible anyways. it not like by knowing a blocked term you're able to suddenly bypass them in the chat
yeah, also it can be annoying sometimes mods block something innocuous and you have no idea why your message wont send
yeah! that shit is irritating as fuck. people who have the word "and" or some other common used phrase.
its really easy to figure out innocuous words though
by the same logic you could figure out other terms
yeah so ok should be fine if theres a split between public and private
not actually exposing anything bad
idk im doubtful
we'll see we'll see
I think you're cherry picking arguments for your opinion. the negatives clearly overweigh
I'm curious how this will turn out
@kindred crown
yeah its been known for a while
that pubsub
is awful
it exposes nearly everything
yeah
and you can subscribe to or used to beable to subscribe to anything
I think at one point
i feel like twitch might go patch it if our extension makes it widely known
you could subscribe to other peoples whispers
it was like whispers.id.id
and theres tons of undocumented channels
that you can subscribe to
that arent public api info
i do understand this is twitch's own fault but i think peoples trust in your business decisions should weigh heavier than "tea"
yeah just dont post any sensitive info on twitch at this point
im gonna move my blocked terms to private right now
you have reach, use it. Why would you rather spread chaos by making the feature usable for hundreds of thousands of people instead of just pointing out the issue with a proof without giving every the tool to use it. sry i just don't get the logic of this "we can make it known" argument
also public/private
is for allowing access to mods
which is why it probably also doesnt show in pubsub
you think i have contacts at twitch?
you know people that know people
make a discord post with @everyone and people will spread it. no need to talk to twitch personaly
its not that crazy
not until someone releases a tool to make this information accessable
i understand it's upsetting to learn something you thought was private turns out not to be
but thats not my fault
im not blaming you, i just find it frustrating to try and talk to you about it and be met with pepw chaos reigns
you still don't get the my point... there are different ways to make people aware of issues... why use the worst way, when there are plenty other?
i mean also
its not like theres really anything that isnt public exposed
except for the mod that added it
but if its your channel
then its not like its exposing anything
they still inherantly know whats blocked
because they're the ones who's message got blocked

what
i mean, my philosophy is that everything moderators do should be public
it works like that on 7tv
we expose the names of mods who do X
every action by mods is tracked
whenever possible i will apply that
every mod action is sent over pubsub
so someone posts your address and to make sure others dont do it, i add it to blocked terms which is just then immediately shown to all of chat, but its fine cause now they know not to try and post your address?
many of those hidden channels

smol...

holy fuck
nope you cant run this api1!!
