Was it in a public lobby? It is possible for users to be muted there. Usually, it's just one person muting a player, though, not for the whole lobby. If you had mic troubles, make certain the right device is selected in the sound panel and maybe toggle the Echo Cancellation on or off.

We don't often give out firm dates because it's either going to be a lie if we're wrong, or it'll be a rushed product that might sacrifice quality for speed. Esper is definitely a hard role to master, especially as it's a very passive role. Mainly, it blocks the psychic sabotage (clairvoyance or telepathy) and instead shows you, but as people don't use them that often, I can see why most don't see it as useful.

A couple of people and I were trying to figure out how the card game in the hangout map plays.

I understand that if any player picks the first option, duck automatically wins. But what does the second and third option do?

Action 2: If at least 2 people choose this option, everyone submits a vote card. If all but one player votes for the duck, the geese win. If all but one vote for a goose, the duck wins. If neither occur, the game continues.

Action 3: You can look at another player's hand. You are informed if any cards are traded or otherwise changed.
