Because the default hands are blunt, weak weapons and this is easier to code in

If I was making this mod I would probably make some combination of buttons on your controller make your hand pose in the viltrumite hand

like double tapping A on the controller while hand is empty

and even if it just adds the item onto the hand, if it's just not ungrippable it could work

Hello! I really appreciate all the feedback in Discord and ModIo! Keep in mind that this mod is still in development, so there may be some funky stuff, and I am hearing all of you guys and trying to fix a lot of the bugs. For the people that keep saying dismembering isn't working, that's because it won't work unless the SDK gets updated to support NPCs.
