Title is as concise as I can get. This could be done in a variety of ways. I'm no developer so excuse me if I phrase something badly.
How it would work:
- On most VR controllers (that I know of) there are two triggers. One trigger could be geared toward actually grabbing, whereas the other could be grabbing pressure.
- Grabbing pressure could be dictated by two set scales (unpressed and pressed) or a fluid sort of 'gradient' of pressure depending how hard the trigger is pressed (unsure if this is how it works on most controllers)
What for:
- This would chiefly be used for shifting your grip along the surface of things, I imagine. For example:
- In Bonelab, Blade and Sorcery, and many other VR games, when one trigger is pressed while the other is unpressed, you can slide your grip along the length of a pole, sword, or anything adjacent. It could also function on the foregrips of rifles.
This would be good for uhhh uhhh realism. Also would be more convenient to be able to slide your grip along a weapon instead of having to ungrip it and shift your grip that way
