#Gun Assembly

Why?
name me one situation where this would be useful in a pvp game
while this is true the game has pvp AND sandbox
for fun and realism?
I’d like this. Could be cool. While not messily useful in pvp, could add some realism in a survival mode where you could build your own gun once you find or make the parts
There's a bit more to it than that. Games use skeletons on their guns, which means they can copy over the slide, the chamber, etc. He could just split these to create what you want, but that would require several models, which is fine on paper, but for each model, the GPU requests to render it, and imagine 4 other people, with all different parts, the game trying to sync it all, and the enemies rendering. We want to minimize this, which we can do by not splitting the models. Also, the Quest has the processing power of a mobile phone.

Who ghost pinged me 😡
How? How is this fun? How would this tie into the other mechanics in the game? Why do you think we need it?
People have different definitions of what's fun for them. Not everyone likes the same things
I’m asking for his definition.
gun assembly seems fun to me
I kinda agree with this and don't at the same time because I don't think you would use that feather all that much but it takes a lot of development also the parts would have to snap in place to be able to place them in vr as vr controls almost always will be worse than real life ones
Useless.
what if when you snap the parts together they turn into one model
ehh but it'd be like agonizing to create a seperate model for each way you could put together a gun
Remembers its a quest AND PC game
It can happen accidentally which can get annoying very quickly.
Depends how they approach it
We could need to take like a kit from the butt stock which has screwdrivers to remove the screws and all of that like in the ak-47
That would be the most annoying thing ever
Unless we got a drill to unscrew it or something like that
I'd probably disassemble it once because of all the screwdriver madness
Nah, its useless. Its a sandbox, not a gun sim
We are meant to be build stuff in sandbix
Guns dissemblely us the next step to building custom guns
Have two options then, one for a single gun that can be and can't be, and put a warning for fps. Or, when you're all done building it, then swap out the model for another
it’s so cool
perhaps just get a modder to add gun assembly, if this many people think its useless
Horrible reason.
just 'cause you couldnt build the star wars lego sets as a kid it doesnt mean that its a shitty feature.
you could make a whole separate mode where you race against time to dissasemble and reassmeble the gun
3 other people said that in a survival game mode it would be cool to make them assembable
Very niche, and I could see so many things going wrong. Make it too easy to disassemble, and people would probably do it when they don't want to. Not easy enough, and people won't find out. It would be out of place in the game. Imagine the tutorial. "Here's how to walk. Here's how to sprint. Now disassemble every gun.". Every gun can't have the same disassembly steps, or interior models, would take a ton of dev time. Making one gimmick gun for said game mode would be pretty cool, but not every gun.
thats the only thing i have with it
?
for example if the button to dissasemble is just trigger when actually reloading the gun, on the ak it could take the slide cover of
if the gun handling button is trigger too obviously
This sums up my opinion on this pretty well too
Sigma opinion
no it’s not bro
your just mad cuz you don’t know how to disassemble a gun
Most people don’t. It’s not gameplay that is enriching the game, it is a niche in the gun space for people to tinker.
This is not aimed at tinkerers though, it’s aimed at people who shoot the guns
it should be an option then
Also yes if every gun should be able to be disassembled expect a 70% drop in dev speed of guns
it's a kinda good idea
Maybe in a mini game style thing for people to learn about specific fire arms ye
maybe only specific guns like a glock, 1911, ak, and m4 type guns should have it
Yea but emphasis on separate mode, otherwise people are gonna sit and try for ten minutes to try to disassemble their modded gun which isn’t supported
Generally I see disassembling a problem when mixed with other mods that don’t have it and just focus on cool fire arms
Not even starting to talk about how the game should recognise you trying to disassemble your gun in oppose to reloading or even pressing a button mid combat when your hand is close to a part
So yea assembly sounds good on paper but nah for official modes
Yes it is. There are sometimes when fun is an applicable reason, but this time it isn't. This is a feature where if they want it in the game along with the other stuff, they would have to half-ass it or not focus on the other features.
at least it should be a system that allows modders to use it
what im thinking
Maybe just a separate weapon to disassemble
A separate weapon variant that does disassemble
custom swords with more parts that can be modded in
Ohh interesting
LIGHTSABER ASSEMBLING HELL YEA
Welp not on the fly though
I'd love to see it in the game, since the game is Beyond Sandbox. I get the performance arguement but they could make it switch back to one model and only have a few parks that would make sense as that opens the doors for a custom gun system. I don't get the point of "Its a useless feature" like bruh half the stuff in Bonelab menu is useless to me, but other people use them. Like if you don't like the feature then don't use it. It's a sandbox game, it says sandbox in the title. Also I do get the "what if accidently happens during combat" I would recommend adding a sort of station or toggle to change the gun.
But saying "Useless Feature" doesn't make it a useless feature, unless you can back it up with proof that literally no one would use (which has already been refuted). If you don't like the feature don't use it.
HELL YEAH
He probably meant useless in the sense that this game is more focused on casual vr gunplay, since realism isn’t always equal to fun.
No one will disassemble their gun mid combat and since this game is combat focused, there isn’t a big usecase.
Apart from learning about specific guns ofc
Fair
potentially there could be a toggle for jamming and you have to take parts out the gun to be able to unjam it
Toggle doesn’t make the problem go away but yea maybe
yeah but I'd like that to be a server toggle so its not perm, and you can also beat the shit out of your gun to undo the jam
My gun jammed proceeds to absolutely destroy it on the nearest wall
but it being perm on would annoy people who only play for gun combat and not realism
My gun Jams
Hold up guys I can fix it
Does the Loki Hulk scene
Fixed the problem Guys
My gun jammed proceeds to throw it across the globe and catches it again
Grabs out knife to undo the jam
would be cool if they made it so only guns that have jamming problems irl have them in game (M16A2, PPSH i believe?()
The Ak Jamming would be funny so I can beat it to near death
thought the AK didnt jam?
I don't think it does unless theirs something in it, but It would be funny
Grabs a whole sledgehammer and slams the weapon 5 times
That is a normal hammer
yeah but I couldn't find a sledgehammer gif (plus its funny)
May the weapon unjam nukes the gun
Also a mp5 charge handle slap release would be nice (I learned that from tabor)
the tabor one feels not great tho imo
Like engineer lol
fixing things
