Production for the project began in October 2024, when glaive and long-time collaborators had returned to Alaska to, as always, make music. Shortly after, glaive would visit San Francisco, where he had decidedly scrapped the handful of songs previously made and embarked on a new journey sonically.

The first taste of new music would come on December 8, 2024, where glaive had taken the stage at ISOKNOCK to perform “We Don’t Leave The House,” a bouncy club-esque track he made only four days prior.

In January 2025, glaive set out on his May It Never Falter tour, where he began previewing new music. Throughout the tour, he would preview four new tracks: “Modafinil” and “Foreigner” as part of the encore, and “Asheville” and “Weird” at a brief after-party for the Los Angeles show. He played the latter tracks again at an after-party for his Asheville show, they named the city after me, on April 17, 2025, giving fans a deeper look into the hype side of the album. The night before, he posted on his private Twitter that he’d begin finalizing the album after his final show.
