Yeah they did that in Alpha version foliage that's why it felt natural and blended in environments and also they kinda did with Akinta trees too

My only gripe is with current Troi and Erangel which I think has worst foliage

Nah it ain't worth the development, that lite version approach works if the game making lots of money and sufficient playerbase to keep the base game alive
If the base game is not that popular then, lite version won't even garner the attention

Can't see this happening anytime soon but they got NS labs it's a great way to test out the things the community wish to be in the game like the alpha version of Troi
Just release it there and have the players test it for themselves and have the feedback on which version is most favourable among the players
