I’m still working on that whole doing-stuff-in-moderation thing, but I’m finally allowing myself to speak in here again (if the events of July 20th didn’t make that evident enough)

So yeah, Norri forecast is lookin a lot more bountiful from here on out. For better or for worse.

Anyway, like a cheesy children’s cartoon, I’m gonna go on a whole schpheal about what I learned from this whole thing
(I’ll keep it brief though, promise)

After taking a good look into my own mind, I’ve come to the realization that I’ve been so afraid of others’ judgements that I’ve started denying myself my own interests, to the extent of becoming ashamed of and to a degree, afraid of them
But I’ve also realized that now, with. You know what. Being over, I can finally start myself on re-accepting those interests, at my own pace, in my own time
Will it happen instantly? Of course not. Might take a while. But it’s something I can work on gradually.
Overcoming fear takes time. And now I can take the time I need, without the pressure of deadlines or matches or whatever else.
This isn’t to say that I can go all the way with not caring about how others view me, it’s simply to say that I shouldn’t care to a harmful or paranoia-causing degree

TL;DR, I’ve learned that maybe it’s alright for me to like things that others may not. Yeah, it’s good to draw lines in the sand, but not to the extent where you box yourself in, or end up drawing all over yourself.
(It’s a convoluted metaphor, I know.)
Again, it’s likely gonna take a while for me to properly adopt this philosophy. But the least I can do is get started on it.

I’ve learned plenty other things too, like how I gotta start dedicating more time to my life in the real world, how I gotta work on how I view my own worth, how I admittedly gotta handle my own emotions a little better, stuff like that. But again, I don’t wanna make this “what I learned” session crazy long (Even though it already is like jesus christ that’s a big block of text)

So yeah. There’s that.

Enchanted Portals is a game that makes me sad

Not because I’m emotionally invested in it, no, but because it’s so genuinely ass and didn’t have to be

When the trailer for this game first came out (back when it being called out by everyone for being a cuphead clone) I had hope
Sure, it looked a little rough around the edges, and I wasn’t going to argue with the fact that it was. Definitely taking more than a few pages out of Cuphead’s book. But I was willing to look past those things because, to me at least, it showed potential. It really did seem like it could improve and craft its own identity

Spoiler alert. It did neither of those things.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but with what I’ve seen so far in this 22 minute boss compilation video, the stuff displayed in the trailer was. As good as it gets.
I’m not one to hate on tweening animation, I’m definitely not but.

Like many others who have commented on this game, I think its only real strong suit is its music, and even then it’s. Nothing too mind-blowing. Yeah, it’s got some alright stuff, and I am a sucker for soundtracks with a primary leitmotif carried out through various different instrumentations (I love you Punch Out Wii), but nothing in particular stands out a crazy lot (plus there’s an audible cut when it loops which pisses me off)

Ok so I’ve learned two more things about this game which. Have left me feeling a little more mixed about it.
1: This game was made by 2 people, which. I mean. For such a small team, it definitely could have been worse, I have to give credit where credit is due
2: The game is so. So much more disjointed than I thought it was (as became evident after watching a full game playthrough as opposed to just the boss compilation). It really feels like they just had a bunch of ideas they wanted to utilize, but didn’t know how to properly piece them together. Like. One level starts with a boss fight, then transitions to a normal level in a completely different setting, then ends with another boss fight in another completely different setting. And that’s not even the final “world”, which. Pisses me off. Because it’s 3 consecutive boss fights that have nothing to do with eachother??? With no lead in?????? And it?????? Confused me??????? A lot??????????

I get that this game wasn’t able to reach its kickstarter goal, which is likely why quite a few corners very evidently had to be cut, and that combined with the fact that the game was made by a team of two does garner some sympathy points. That being said though, I don’t think I can fully forgive the game’s quality for those reasons. Budget and team size aside, I still feel as if it could have been at least half-decent if given more time, which, if anything, just. Makes me more sad.

Ok so final thoughts
This is by no means a good film. A lot of the humor in particular. Blew. Hard.
However I will give it this, some parts of it do have some degree mof merit. Yes, the first half of the film was near-Click to Click levels of eugh but, miraculously, I was able to hate the film a little less in the second half. And, I’ll say it, the end didn’t leave me completely empty.
Final verdict? Not as bad as Click, unsure where it stands in respect to Pixels. quite a few parts quite a bit below, dare I say some parts a step or a half up
