My car on the other hand... The intake manifold is blown and according to the guy he's pretty sure its actually been worn a lot longer so the inside of my engine is pretty much damaged and I'm rolling dice now to see when it asplodes.

A large gasket that's on the inside of the engine that basically keeps antifreeze and other fluids your engine needs to run things IN the places they need to be and OUT of the places they don't.

Having it fixed usually starts at around $500-$800 USD because they have to take the engine literally apart

And that doesn't count any damage that's been done to parts because of it.

And in this case that price is definitely in the realm of "5+<Car worth"

Eh. To be honest I'm irritated but I'm not mad mad. The car is a year and half shy of 20 years and that's usually when it's best to start getting a new car anyway. It's old and it's been reliable enough for as long as I've had it.

Most of the work on it has been basic wear and tear parts replacement. I think the only thing more than that was I had to get several parts replaced when I did the serpentine belt replacement, and to be honest I could have avoided that until the next time I had to replace it but I don't trust my poor luck.

And even that increased a 150 price of changing the belt (parts/labor) to about 225 for the total for parts and labor.

I haven't learned to drive yet and the ever increasing costs just mean its impossible to even run one tbh

To be fair: if you can get even basic mechanics down for a car you can actually do a lot of the simpler repairs yourself or grab someone to help you. I've done a lot of work myself that would have cost about 200-300 dollars and ended up paying at most 250 for the parts and tools that I needed that I didn't have at the time, which are now in my toolbox so next time I may need them I have them.

Also, if you find a good junkyard in your neighborhood you can get good parts for even cheaper than the shop, and sometimes they give you a discount if you pull the part yourself.

Example: a socket for my rear tail light that would cost about $40 new cost me about $25 from the junkyard.

Yeah. Long, painful ones have unfortunately started last summer. Thankfully the medication and vitamin that my neurologist proscribed has been helping me. I had an MRI done not so long ago and thankfully all is well. I get migraines usually from going to bed late, when I wake up late and and from unnecessary stress. I am working on myself so I don’t get them.

I used to get them quite frequent .. thankfully rarely if at all now. So, in my case may be stress induced as that is the only major thing that has changed .. stopping work

I get headaches but I don't like taking medicine for them so I suffer with them for a time before doing anything about it. I'm getting better with that and forcing myself to take medication

I get monthly migraines, i just take an ibuprofen and go sleep sleep and it passes normally

Yeah, after going through the migraines the headaches I get now I live with until I get what I call a pressure headache, and then I take a blood pressure tablet and do some breathing exercises
