However I don't feel comfortable with that, so do you think it would be disrespectful to give a token gift to them, some nice chocolate or something of that nature ?

Gifts aren't at all about monetary value, they can be someone you made or cost $1000, the only thing that matters is the sentiment and how well you know the person and thus fitting the gift to them

So no matter what you do, if you're comfortable with it money wise, or if you make something yourself, I'm sure they'll love it

As an example my girlfriend found the perfect gift for me, it was an empty glass jar with "fucks to give" painted on it. Because I always say I'm out, the jar itself was like what, $5? But it made me feel like she knew me, cared, and loved me, and that's what it's all about

It makes perfect sense, at least to me! Social interaction and norms aren't always straight forward as is.. I'd say in this instance, all they want is your best interest, so if you do something you're okay with, I'm confident they will be too

Well seeing as how he is new he tends to be skittish around them and the older dog which is about 14 is calmer while the yorkie which is gonna be the female for the yorkie poo which is the puppy tends to be jealous. ah gotcha .. was gonna suggest maybe have his cage in your room where it is likely less scary .. and slowly move it towards the door, out the door, in the other room until he's got used to the environment

well... I was living with a guy ;P and I needed to leave. We were doing the Brady bunch thing, with him working and me doing the "mothering". But it was toxic. I had no job and no job opportunities up in the mountains. I didn't own my own car. I felt stuck. I'm going to get "spiritual" on you now, but this is how it happened. In total frustration, I said to God... "God I know you don't want me here, but I can't leave on my own. YOU need to do this for me". So within 24 hours, I had a lady friend here in 'bama offer me a place to stay, a job, and a car to use until I could get on my own feet... my boyfriend bought plane tickets for me, my 2 kids, my cat, and my parakeet, bought me a set of cell phones, bought me a digital camera, paid for my stuff to be transported. BOOM. Just like that. Everything just fell into place.

This lady friend was a dog breeder and groomer, she raised Standard Poodles and needed help with grooming. So Iearned how to groom. then my (ex) boyfriend sent me money to buy a used trailer and sent out to me one of his cars. Dang, it was all good.

For me, I hadn't had a vacation in 14 years. I finally took one to visit my brother who lives out here. After spending a week out here I knew this was where I was supposed to be. Told my boss I would be moving at the end of the year. Made a weekend trip toward the end of the year, found an apartment, set up renting it. End of the year, I left my job and started to drive from Cali to TN. Before I even got to TN I got a call from my boss asking if I was willing to keep working for them remotely. To which I agreed. A few months later Covid hit, and since I was now working remotely I was protected from the exposure that kept happening at the companies shop I used to work in.

Not as miraculous as your story, but still a story of God providing.

yup... my son's dad also tried to talk me into moving, and I almost did.. to Illinois where he is. Not for me, but so he could see his son more often. But it felt just so WRONG. That was right before I bought the house. We had even started packing.

my son did end up living with him for a year, hoping to get a job, but ended up coming back home to me when I bought the house. I'm glad, I love having him here. He's 29, but he's a huge help and a blessing to me.
