This book that I have "finished" "first" was initially the first half of the "first" book I "finished" which ended up being almost 200k & came from a 2200-word placeholder at the beginning of the rest of what I had written

I basically didn't stop to think about anything, even names, if I couldn't think of a name I just called the guy "Angry Man" for the rest of the scenes he was in lol

and there were basically 2200 words briefly describing how someone got to this other place which is where I spent a huge amount of time writing, then I came to the end of what I was writing there, and realized it was actually in the middle of it

so when I went back to "polish" the beginning of it, it exploded

and it has just grown exponentially from there, so I'm not writing only what is, but what will be, and what has been

so that aspect of world building wasn't really something I understood until it started happening to me haha

(and I don't even read Martin, I just find it really interesting from the unavoidable encounter with people being upset about "how long he is taking" to finish the series)

I mean it's possible he's discovered something in the history of Westeros that is irresistibly fascinating, even more than what is covered by the storyline period in GoT

Really interesting to hear the whole process . Yeah, I feel bad for him with the constant pressure of people wanting him to keep churning out books like a machine. Being a writer is a scary thing, since you have to rely so heavily on your own creativity in order to move forward. It seems stressful.

there's this whole reality you want to talk about, and nobody else knows it -it's like watching the most amazing movie that nobody else has seen yet

When I was a child, my mother used to make a simple vanilla cake. Then she divided the batter into three parts. One of them got mixed with raspberry jelly powder, one with this green woodruff jelly powder and one stayed plain. Then she put them all in the baking thing, gave it a light swirl with a fork and when it was done she made a glaze with powdered sugar and lemon juice
We called it parrot cake.

Ye twice! The first week I was just proscribed Vitamin C and Zinc and gargling salt water but I was not getting better. i cannot say much about the story, as ive never really reached endgame or did a lot of the story itself
but: this game has the absolute best mount system ive come across in any game, the wardrobe and dye system is also brilliant
the world encourages you to explore every nook and cranny and if youre into jumping puzzles this game has them all, from easy to "i wanna pull my hair out!"

the base game is free, obviously with a lot of limitations
you have to buy the expansions and there is some thing called "living world" which you can buy as well or unlock for free when they are live. those are basically the continuation of the story
you can purchase everything you can get in the cash shop with ingame currency, you can convert your gold to the premium currency and vice versa, so i guess that makes it slightly pay to win

cash shop items is mostly cosmetic, but you can also buy inventory and bank expansions and extra character slots

gw has a kind of special gearing system though. once you get your gear youre set. you can take a break of several months, come back and your gear is still relevant

I just afk-ed in GW2 to join the server, and one of the first messages I see is about Guild wars 2 xD. I might be a bit late to the party, but GW2 is really a lot of fun. And there's more than enough content to enjoy in the free version. And if you do decide to buy the game, you don't have to spend irl money for items. You can grind everything with in-game gold.
