i just wanna say that i'm sorry for getting real heated about the furry thing earlier, i'm just really tired and again, animal abuse is a really big trigger for me

but, this is banjo, he's my beautiful crested gecko, he's kind of a rescue because the people who had him before me fed me maybe once a week if they remembered and the humidity in his tank was garbage and he generally lived a really bad life before i got him

he was skin and bones but ever since i got him we've been to the vet a handful of times but i never gave up hope and i finally got him started on eating and he just recently is normal weight and when i pick him up, i can feel that he's getting heavier

You right, but you're wording it wrong.

So in Physics we often talk about how velocity can be negative. (Which is the same thing as speed except velocity can be negative, OR positive. Speed is only positive or neutral in one direction.)

And you might be wondering what I mean when I say it can be negative. On a 2D plane, if you are moving to the right, your velocity is positive. If you are moving to the left, your velocity is negative. Hopefully that makes a bit of sense.

But if you are driving down the road at 100 mph, then everything in the car, INCLUDING the bullet in that chamber of that gun is moving at 100 mph. It's because it has inertia, which means that it is in motion, so it wants to stay moving.

It's the same reason why your body exits your vehicle through your windshield in a bad car accident. Your body is moving while it is in the car, and it has inertia, so it wants to stay moving. But since your car stopped, and your body didn't, your body still has energy in it enough to expel you outside your car. Usually when I tell people that the idea of inertia makes sense.

But since the bullet is moving inside the car of 40 mph, it's velocity is POSITIVE (+) mph. And then it begins to move when it is fired out of the gun at NEGATIVE (-) mph, so you add the velocities together (+40 and -40) which comes out to 0 mph.

So it's just there. And then gravity is still in effect, so it just hits the ground.

The bullet just stops in midair and hits the ground. And I've actually seen some really cool videos demonstrating this!
