I've heard others say that "Neighbors" are community members. Otherwise, they would be what? Just random people on the same server? That doesn't make any sense.

If "Friends" includes "Neighbors", and neighbors are people on the same server as you, then what does "Open" mean?

If "Friends" includes people on the same server, then "Open" must mean people that aren't even on the same server, but then how would you go about visiting someone that isn't on the same server as you? I'd imagine you'd have to type in their name or something, but I don't see an option for that, so that cannot be it.

So then "Neighbors" must mean people that are in your community, and people on the same server being able to visiting plots that are not "Open" must be a bug.

That's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Aw man, I already get jumpscared by the butterflies in this game, I don't need to get spooked by other players in my home instance too. 😩 Hopefully they keep working to make the home plot securities more nuanced and functional. There's little less cozy than a home that doesn't feel safe.

Housing plots are simultaneously too open, yet too closed off for me. Considering that there's no way to visually show off your achievements short of inviting someone to your plot, I'd actually want people to be able to visit even while I'm offline.

But, at the same time, I know that a lot of people consider their house their ultimate cozy space and having randos drop in uninvited doesnt agree with that. We absolutely need more settings other than just "open to all" "open to friends+neighbors"(when no one knows what the game even considers a neighbor) and "closed to all but NPCs"

I like the knock idea, but I also like the idea of just having the plot open, but notifying me when someone visits. Another game I play notifies me when someone visits my housing plot, and if I'm not busy I'll absolutely take that as an opportunity to hop back home and say hi

Flapjack is correct in that it is only the autocrafters that you need a license for. You can even buy extra workbenches from Sifu. Like furniture, crafting machines do not take up space in your inventory, so don't worry about making exactly what you need. I normally run 12 jam jars but have another 3 I can put out when I accumulate a surplus of fruits and veggies. I have extras of all the craft stations and swap them out from time to time for whatever is most needed.

Nearby fishers only give you the buff to hook fish faster, fisherman’s brew is irreplaceable but it doesn’t increase your health, only boosts safe zone size

I looked into the crop circles before - it took a while but I figured it out (and opened a ticket that might not go anywhere). The crop circles are a copy your house layout - including gazebo etc. This is repeated 2-3 times, and is most obvious if you use a koi pond as that one leaves a hole in the world rather than just in the grass

Everything that is sent and reported to Modmail is visible to CMs. The reason why we, as much as possible, encourage the community to avoid pinging CMs and instead go to Modmail is because it is the most effective route for sending feedback, suggestions, or any other queries, without having them get mixed up with other chats from other members.

Well the original issue was with certain Shepps bullying players who provided a link to paliapedia, despite them just wanting to help answer people questions. Then it seemed like those shepps got help from the mods in deleting messages that they didnt like.
Eventually the thing got too big that S6 and the CMs got involved and tried to resolve the conflict. The 2 shepps left, or were kicked?, for about 2 months. We dont really know. And after thr 2 months they just rejoined the server, acting like nothing happened, and now apparently keep spreading wildly outdated information and get messages deleted again when people try to correct the wrong information

And mods come in with their "Take it to modmail" as if that hasnt been tried multiple times in the past already

If it were beta, this is the most poorly run beta since UO. The testers, presumably us, are given no information about the 250 bugs that are mysteriously patched every update so that we can test and confirm that they were indeed fixed. just putting this here as a note of current stuff that's multiplayer-ish/co-opish:

• If you do some tasks together (cooking, chopping a tree, mining, hunting) you each contribute, get xp, and get loot. This means you need fewer ingredients per person (just need to have them all as a group) or can cook a recipe your friend has but you don't and that your tools take less damage/wear. Hunting magic animals - especially bristleback muujin - is significantly easier with others.
• Fishing next to each other gives everyone there a buff - the longer you're next to each other or the more people are there the better the buff
• You can visit your friends plots to cook, water, weed, and (for those you grant edit access) decorate. Cooking parties are a common way to stock up on food for focus, worms, and/or gold - there are even fan sites to help coordinate for different dishes.
• Flow trees (the ones with a purple glow) need others to chop down, but it's the only task that requires others (well with an exquisite ax you can eventually do all but the largest)
• You can party (limited to 4 people) up to work together to find items and share things like ore compasses, hunting horns, tuning forks, honey lures, and buzzy jars
• Communities exist to collect a group of friends, but they don't have many features yet (something about neighborhoods was mentioned at one point)
• Achievements, weekly challenges, and events have "together" elements to encourage people to do things with other players
• Chat has several tabs - Server, Nearby, Community, Party, and Whisper(talk to one friend) so that you can chat to different groups/people as needed
• You can request items and fulfill them for your Friends, Community, and (current) Server
• (seasonal) Hot Pot card game

notice the "ish", it's sorta in that direction but not really meeting the expectations of people who already play mmo/co-op games

have we clarified what’s happening with housing permissions? currently you can’t allow friends and party members to come over without also being open to “neighbors” who are anyone on the server including strangers which has lead to a lot of people having the experience of randoms (not friends or community members) showing up at their house without saying anything. there has been some debate on if this is a glitch or intended gameplay. curious if we’ve figured that out yet.
