i think they also need to be set that if you are working on one that is disappearing (fast glow stage) that you can finish mining it before it goes. ran up to a large pal fast glowing and got one hit on it and it disappeared

I hooked it 5 times. The trick that finally helped was letting it get away then eating sushi and drinking fisherman brew then equipping safe zone hook. Then when it hooked again reel in this time

Honestly not sure for myself i think ive had super high rng rolls for them but id guess its like 5-10% like the others, though saying that yesterday i found 22 citrin not a single one was star, since release ive found 70 sapphire, only 5 star . its so up and down , but my mining partner has 3/4 rubies now too so id say higher then 1%

Well I agree that the starred chance for gems is 10% because that is what it feels like. But do you feel that 1 Ruby drops out of roughly 100 palium nodes. Making the drop chance of Rubies 1%

But for regular fishing, once you cast, you can see what fish takes the bait - if you dont want it, dont reel. Itll go away, and you can pull the line back, keeping the worm

if you dont recast after tho itll keep hooking the same fish

I was just in a server where someone was claiming that clearing other mining nodes has no effect on pallium, that there's always 8 nodes of it at a time on the map. Apparently they've been studying pallium for months. I've always understood that clearing away the iron and stone nodes helps improve the rate at which pallium appears (and has seemed to work when I do that). Is that other player right, and we should just run around looking for those 8 spots?

i was under the impression, that the stone/ores have a random chance of what they become when they respawn. the maps only have 3 small, 3 mediums and 2 large palium ore on the map at one time. use to be that when you mined one of the palium that it would instantly respawn in an available spot somewhere on the map (now that we have them staying longer on the map not sure how it works). it basically gives the palium a better shot at spawning.

but you have to also remember that there are people like me out there mining everything because i need dang stone bricks for everything so, it's going to be mined anyways

Good to know the ore compass is worth using now. I haven't used it yet, but I do seem to be getting more pallium, if I'm on a server where people call out pallium and flare it. Most of the time, I make it to the site before it disappears. Not always, though, so it's disappointing to see it disappear in front of your eyes.

The problem now is I can't get the weekly goal to mine with people. Used to be easy with how palium worked before. Now no one stays or even if someone is there, they wait for you to mine it all and then do it themselves. So weird.

personally, I'd go for kilima coast during the right time
glow worms + hotspots
walk around the lake, then down the coast then loop back
it has a lot of hotspots and closer together then other areas, and they pop up rather quickly once you make your way back through

no it's just RNG. the best thing is to speed up fishing by fishing near others and/or using a hook time booster so you can catch more fish in the same amount of time

ah yeah, you need level 10 to get the hook time booster though it's not craftable so you have to buy it every time and they break pretty quick. just the buff from fishing with others makes a big difference though!

I don't know. There is no items in the game that can help you detect an epic fish while you can easily get epic bugs using buzzy jars in the bahari around 3 am and there is also always one epic bug in each grove everytime.

You basically just have to search around until you find some! And when you do, typically people will call out the location of the palium to other players in the server so they can loot it as well 🙂

No, the lagoon is where Einar is, you can see it connects to the lake so they share the same waters. If you look far away, you'll see land and ruins, it's not the sea. The sea is only at Bahari.

See, I find fishing to be super easy. Before they added a ton of more fishing nodes, I would just server hop for new nodes. I got every star fish by doing this. It isn't just RNG, the changes to palium didn't resolve the issues from the original changes. They should have added it to iron nodes and not replaced the static ones for it.

This is only from experience but I believe epic gems have a 2% to drop and legendary gems have a 1% chance. I also believe that it is a 10% chance for a gem to be starred. But keep in mind that this is an estimate based on experience

Also here’s a trick that doesn’t use up worms. Let the fish nibble once and let it swim down. The second time it comes back to nibble, hook it if it’s what you want. Otherwise reel in your hook when it’s gone and you keep the worm

Just caught the longnosed unicorn fish in a pool but when I reeled it in it was not starred. Pool disappeared afterwards too. So disappointed. Was only fishing pooled since that was all I needed and all other fish in my inventory are starred. Feel let down.

hi I haven’t play palia in a few months except doing the vault quest and I have a question about palium. does it still spawn in the same few places as it used to?

nope it spawns anywhere iron can spawn now, but only 8 are on a map/server at a time
however there was also a recent change where ore deposits now work similar to forage where people can break it but they will stick around for 3 more minutes or so

223 nodes in Bahari, and at same time there could be 3 small, 3 medium, 2 large palium nodes

also, ore compasses were improved
they now show only large ore deposits and all palium, instead of all iron and palium

So I have been thinking on a way to makeshift furniture a little less rough while also maintianing the rarity of our loved/hated waterlogged chest. So I have come up with "Einar's or Tish's makeshift trade center"

A place where you can trade makeshift items you fished up for other specific ones. Maybe like 5 for an undiscovered one (doesn't count to your achivement) and 3 for a discovered one (so you still reward getting unique ones). So the griend for them is less rough and if you get a chest with an item you already have or don't want you can still feel progression towards the items you want to decorate with. In this way the achievement also doesn't get destroyed with it not counting towards it. And the rarity of the chests/items are also kept intact.

You need to use glowworms correct, the drop rate is low I’m assuming or do I need to be a certain coooking level to fish it up?

you do need to use glow worms in ponds, but you can also recast and not use up the glow worm

as long as you dont withdraw the same fish or chest or recipe bottle will come back so there's no panic in clicking immediatly

I mean i dont have issues getting pal anymore. But since this update i have noticed that people just dont help each other out anymore. Its all about the grove or cooking parties. Other then that your on your own. I just dont know how i feel about that.

Exactly, there's no lack of pal but I keep missing it because ppl mine and don't call out. then when I come across it, it starts disappearing before I can mine

FWIW they changed how the ore compass works as well, it only points to pal and large iron now. so if you need pal that's the best way to get it without relying on call outs.

i would say to bear in mind a few things: some people play on switch and can't type, doing constant call outs can slow down mining (even if you immediately move on after calling out), you can only have one flare at once so if you already called something out a minute ago and moved on you can't know if someone's still looking for your previous flare and will be bothered if you overwrite it with a flare somewhere else, and most importantly you can't tell if something's been mined until 30s before it despawns so for all you know you could be calling out things that nobody has time to get to.

i still usually call out big pal or 2+ medium pals, and i will flare lone medium pal without a call out if i haven't flared anything in a while, but there are times where it's not possible or pretty inconvenient to call stuff out

Cannot be bothered to call out on switch it slows down gameplay a lot
Flare lasts for the same amount of time the ore will last after being mined though so it makes sense to not get people's hopes up and just have a flare for those close enough to see it

If you're across the map im not sure you'd get to an ore in time yknow then youd watch it dissappear befor your eyes which is frustrating

It's not a great item you can kind of just check for those hotspots yourself pretty easily

Is there a way to encourage fishing hotspot spawning in some areas? If I fish in Pavel Mines, two hotspots spawn every two minutes, but now I'm fishing in Bahari rivers and it sucks. In 30 minutes, across all 5 fishing spots, I only found 3 hotspots! I have no idea how I'm gonna get all the starred epic/rare fish when I can't even catch the common ones

Sooo, yesterday, I had three compasses to locate the big iron and palis. I decided to call out and flare all pali I came across. What I noticed, is that I found A LOT of pali, and as I came across pali, there would be newer players who would mine and run (without flares or call outs).

I also inadvertently spammed the server chat because I kept coming across so much pali.

While I know the devs wanted to make the change to accommodate different play types, the stark contrast of using a compass and calling out each pali really made me think about how much we're all not seeing.

I completely get the pain for those using Switch (I use Switch), so the flare is a good compromise.

But, after calling out pali on three compasses, I ended up with 97 pali on three runs--and I've never had that much pali before.

What are your thoughts on the pali resource change?

How do you tell the difference between a rock with copper ore and a rock with silver ore? I'm struggling.

Silver is dropped from Large and medium copper nodes as stated above.
Medium nodes have a 15% chance to drop silver ore
Large nodes have a 25% chance to drop silver ore

there isn't a best place, just mine medium and large copper anywhere in kilima. the copper spawn points are scattered all over, you can see them at https://www.paliamaps.com/pages/Kilima.php. if you can't find much copper on your server, try switching servers (go to another map and come back to kilima, or relog)

Or you can fish in the bubbles

You do have to find and travel to the bubbles but it has a slight increase to hook the Unicorn

Some say that it isnt worth it, but the way I look at it is that it doubles your chances

My suggestion would apparently be to make your goal the ancient fish. I caught seven of the dang things while trying to get the ancient fish, in less than 100 worms.

For the folks who are better at the math; with the 7% chance to get waterlogged chests at what number do you change servers because of low RNG?

I have been Bahari fishing with glows and not having much luck today. Sometimes I feel like the RNG is server-attached, but I could be coo-coo-bananas.

Edit to ask: Is this more a fishing question or a furniture question?

im not sure what you mean, tbf i dont know how the drop rates work in this game, but if they are permanent then it wouldnt matter if you changed servers, it would always be a 7% chance

im pretty sure they dont change, its just luck, sometimes ill get 3 chests from 20 lures, sometimes only 2 from 100

I know that is the absolute reality of the situation, but I hear about people swapping for things like palium or bugs, so I wasn't sure and thought I would ask.

palium and bugs is because you get a fresh slate, they spawn in, and it takes time to spawn more in
so like, if u searched all of FF for vampire crabs then youd have to wait for more bugs to spawn, but if you switch servers and reload you get a fresh FF

with fishing switching servers will only, at best, reset the pools, so if you are going for star fish it could be useful, but otherwise youre best off just fishing and praying lol

and some people do it for superstition too lol
i do it sometimes if im feeling really unlucky, like a mental reset
