Is there a crop that gives more exp or which crop gives the most exp? like im tryna level up quicker
All the same per growthtick per tilesize if constant growing and harvest reseed
alright ty
What are the best 100% weed and water retention farms for apples?
for apple trees i have four i keep constantly growing while i use my other plots for farm and i only keep zeki store fert on them for water retention at max.. growth never stops cause they stay hydrated always.
Not saying its the best strat but it works well for growth and watering apples for me.
Depends how many apples how much fert
what if speedygo used?
uhm tat will everytime it procs twice it will skip a growtstage which is useles on most crops uhm think that works best on apples
but i warn u the thing is glitchy doesnt work well with harvest boost and very expensive in medals
Do we need to keep heartdrop lilly if we have romanced all ?
you can gift them to the npcs once a week if you want but otherwise you don't need to keep them
How many days does it take for freshly tilled soil to untill itself?
48 irl hours
So it's faster to grow carrots?
yeah, might as well keep your crops going while you wait for them to untill
Just dont start with apples or something as that might take way longer
Anyone available to help me. Looking for knowledge as its power.
What veggies do I sell as seeds, what do I sell as crop?
My inventory is taking a beating because I have so many.
bok choy, potato, beans, rice and wheat turn into seeds, everything else put into jars, cotton is better for self use in a loom, pumpkins should only be grown if you are cooking with them or you need the quality up/achievement but should be jarred as well
Do you only jar starred vegetables?
as you play, you'll get only star veggies, follow previous message though make sure that you take a few of your crops to seeds for replant
Peppers should only be grown for cooking to
Okay thanks guys.
what process makes the most gold? 🙂 like what crops? apple jam or bok seeds? - just getting back into palia and dying to decorate
"here's the optimal way to plant your garden"
Ok but I want a pretty garden that I don't have to water, have you ever thought about that?
We can make less optimal ones for poeple to for easier planting or aesthetics
Im avsilable to make layouts next year
I'm playing around w the layout planner rn! It took me a moment to realize I could put the plots in different positions than 3x3 lol
I basically have it w five plots in one row, and four plots on the next and the middle spot is open for decorating
But I'm also Lazy and don't want to water every day so I'm trying to play around w layouts that work lmao
For ur pretty layout u can make decor versions of the crops to
True! I may adjust my plan a bit to incorporate those so I'm still growing but can have it look fuller
Thank you!
Happy New Year!
I caught it a bit late, because usually I don't pay attention to levels so much, but that is a tad crazy.
does anyone know the best gardening layout for profit please?
for straight profit? bok choy, either a full field of them with harvest boost on each plant or with rice/wheat/corn strategically placed around to provide the harvest boost buff. needs to be babysat for water and weeds and you need all crafting licenses to process everything to seeds, keep in mind that only 16 bok choy can be processed in the seeder before it gets clogged.
Yeah, what sylvablade said. Definitely a seed collector hungry layout to do. If you don't want to have to worry about weeding or watering, then #🌱│gardening message is a pretty good option for still focusing on profit but with less maintenance, and provides harvest boost to all crops (you just need 4 fertilizer for the corners if you care about 100% harvest boost). It also spreads out some of your processing between seed collectors and preserving jars, so seed collectors won't eat up quite as many of your crafting licenses.
thank you both sm ❤️
are we ever going to need all the flowers again? I have so many in my inventory that I dont use.
No clue we dont know what the next bundle will bring sadly enuff
fair enough! lol
U could place 30 of each in pots on ur landfill/flower plot and grow em up for seeds when bundle uses it then harvest replant and use the fully grown ones that dont give seeds
you can also throw all of the extra flowers onto other plots for storage, grouped together so you can find them easily and then use the sign (the one you can write on not sure the name of it) to mark which ones are where
oh yeay right pots arent even necesary
hi i’m new and i wanted to create a farm pre-apple tree that would produce the most profit via preserves and seeds with 100% water retention. what do we think? it looks rlly chaotic lol
not to bad for a newby 👍
thank you!! i’m hoping it brings me lots of moneyy :)))
and if u ever need pointer on how to imrpove it feel free to ask
not that theres that much to improve on it
yes!! let me know ! as long as it retains all water without ferts i would love to know how it could be improved
ok so what u do right is that u got good quality up coverage which u need at ur level
100% water retain
harvets boost pretty high but it aint 100%
weedblokc is not that usefull if 39% of ur plants can still get weeds on them
its also a relatively complicated layout making replant abit more difficult
but yeay i would go for in ur shoes water retain harvest boost 100%
and quality up on everyhting that aint cotton 100%exlcuding the cottons
corners u can cheat abit by using some fertiliser only 4 spots is not htat much anyways
idk where to ask this, so ill just ask you if you dont mind xD. What should i buy? Artifact or treasure tracker?
mh lemme see treasure trackers tacks those one time chests
u can do it later theres no way u wont run past everything dozens of more times anyways
artifect so u can get more points faster
and dont forget to ask anyone to trade all their artifacts away since they got no use for it
ur rightt!! how do weeds affect the crops? i figured that since water was still being retained and bc i wasn’t using ferts that the weeds wouldn’t matter
but i needed artifact first right?
yeay the things u get ur buy stuff in that twinsisters shop with yes
If I wanna grow cotton, cabbage, bok choy, potatoes, and tomatoes, how should I plant them for the water retention?
purely for what you asked, this is what I generated using this link: https://paliapedia.com/tools/garden
based off feedback i got on my farm, this one has 2 main flaws: 1) it would be difficult to replant and 2) it doesnt have enough weed protection. i wish i could help you more but im kind of new 😓
Added carrots to 100% the weed protection, but you can also use onions instead or a mix of both depending what you have available

Any tips how I can pick up a crop plot again? I removed all plants but Always says its not empty..
Has to be untilled iirc. So if there's still at least 1 tilled square in it you won't be able to pick it up. I might be wrong though, I haven't moved my garden in like a year
And i guess then i can Just wait for days for those to disappear? 😂
Yup
Yeah it kind of is. But your better off planting carrots in the filled spots. At least you get some progress along the way. Otherwise waiting is like 2 Irl days.
How do you get the glow worm farm to make more than one at a time?
grilles fish huh
is it bass only?
the rarer the fish, the more you get back, so you'll get more out of uncommon fish grilled than you would common fish. but you need to make sure that you actually go in and pick which fish to use and not let the game chose for you, just to help get stacks of grilled fish together easier
this is a better showing of the fertilizer outcomes. at the bottom is a tab for all of the grilled fish, just keep in mind that the chart is based on using the same type of fish. for example, two star quality void rays grilled together will net you 66 glow worms and 333 hb fertilizer. it actually won't even go through the regular worm farm because it overflows the farm
huhh? each fish 33 glow worm? damn
each grilled fish, yes. but again it needs to be the same two fish that you grill together
Guys i made a 6 soil farm for my first time do i harvest everything or only the tomatoes
Dont gril ur maws unles flex
emm even if i want to i can't, haven't fishing for one yet
ment like make sure u select ur fish
I wish they can add sunflowers 🌻
What's a good farm if I want to grow a lot of cabbage and bok choy but want it to have water retain? Like what crop should I put in there and how should I place them? I mostly just want cabbage and bok choy.
whats ur gardening level?
10
mh i think u still need a few cycles of quality up
it stops being usefull at 25 ur gonna need tons of fabric for self use anyways
it becomes gradually less usefull over hte levels though so u can stop earlier il get u a layout for quality up first
could get u one simpler aswell though mostm inmaxed one XD
are tomatoes the most profitable crop to just grow and sell for gold? or even use for worm farms? or is there a better/faster option?
this is what ive seen mentioned a couple times, though im not the expert just figured id share
I mean I've been straight growing tomatoes, using them in worm farms, feeding my animals, and selling the excess, but... I'm not sure if there's better options... 😅
the apple trees and blueberries (can swap blues for beans if want to) are afk water/weed/harvest. the other crops would need tending to if you want to harvest them or if you like the aesthetic of the full crops but other wise can be ignored as the water retain plants can have weeds on them without any problems to the weed "bug"
ah thanks, need this for bundle, ill see later. maybe change to everything ultimate layout shared before
What do weeds actually do anyway
Stop a plant from growing and unwater it
9weeds cause a bug where nothing grows
Hm. Gross. Ty
what do you mean?
Can we have full gardens on more than one plot?
If you split up your soil tiles among your plots you could
Hi is there a faster way to use fertilizer? it's quite annoying that you have to click 100 times to use 100 fertilizer on a 1 block crop.
Autoclickers only way
Is there anywhere I can substitute for onions and tomatoes?
Carrots, bok choy and onions are all interchangeable cause they're all weedblock crops. Tomatoes, potatoes and cabbages are too becuse they're all water retain crops. Just remember that 2 of the exact same crops can't buff each other (carrots and carrots for example) but 2 of the same buff category can (like potatoes and cabbages)
Ty astrea for anwering in my stead
Ofc, my pleasure
Freaking finally, this took forever T.T
Is there a page or something somewhere with a collection of gardening plots that are all 100 weed and 100 water?
anyone know the best layout that maximizes rice and weed prevention/water retain?
Depends. You care only about rice and having 100% weedblock/water or you also have some crops you want included in there? If it's the former you can try this, which is just a slight modification of the cotton layout I made recently (#🌱│gardening message) If it's the latter then we'd need to know what else you want included
yeah im mainly just focusing rice idc about other crops tbh id only be cooking for sashimi parties, ive spent way to long wasting time with bean burgers </333 lol
Then this layout should give you more than enough rice for that
And yeah, I went to both types and epic or rare sushi/sashimi parties are definetely where it's at. Though I will still go to a burger party here and there to replenish my focus food stash
ouu yes that makes sense why people mainly go for focus food, i have over 400 starred tomatos bc ive only been focusing tomato farms, i did my first sashimi today and the profit difference is insane, i usually get 100k for 100 bean burgers (2 hours) but i got 200k for 50 shashimi in 30 minutes, absolutely in shock
thank you so much for the layout and help !!!!
Ofc!
I also have a compilation of my everything gardens if you ever look to change your layout to cook a bigger variety of recipes. I used some of those back when I was going to sushi/sashimi parties once or twice a week and was getting by fine

can we put multiple fertilizers at a time on a crop?
as far as I know, you cannot! but if you accidentally put a different fertilizer down you will get the old one back (or at least, I did once, not sure if that was a glitch)
yeah that's what happens. seeing all the images here made me think that we can still put multiple fertilizers
i don't know if adding multiple fertilizer works or not. it shows the older one being picked up but idk if it is a visual glitch or something. still confused about it
if it happens every time it wouldn't be a visual glitch. I would assume if you've tried multiple times and it happens every time that no, you cannot put multiple fertilizer types
you can only ever have 1 fertilizer type down on a crop at a time. the layouts that you see that show multiple buffs on the crops and don't have the little "poop" symbol on them are getting the buffs from the crops surrounding it. if the crop has a "poop" symbol on it that means that the crop is receiving the fert buff
i hope i'm understanding it correctly. the multiple fertilizers on a crop that i'm seeing is buff from another crops?
correct. all crops have a buff that they will give to other crops, but not the same type of crop. for example, if you have an onion planted next to a bok choy (both provide weed block buff) the onion will give the bok choy weed protection and the bok choy will return the weed block to the onion. however, if you have two onions together they will not buff each other, so it must be different crops.
rice/wheat/corn/apple/blueberries/beans will all give harvest boost buff
bok choy/carrot/onion all give weed block
potato/tomato/cabbage give water retention
peppers/pumpkins/cotton all give quality up
these are given in a plus (+) formation so they do not give crops in a diagonal spot any buff. also, keep in mind that the 2x2s and the apples will need 2 or 3 (respectively) of the same buff to get the effect of the buff. for example, if you want water retain on an apple tree, you will need to have 3 water retain plants touching the apple (not necessarily in the same row)
also to note. crops take priority when giving buffs to other crops. so if you are trying to put down weed block fertilizer on a crop that's next to either onion, bok choy, or carrot for example, the fertilizer will not be used at all
thank you so much for clarifying in a summarized way! i got the picture now 🙌
welcome, feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything else
Does anyone have a good money making layout? Im trying to have another way of money besides hunting lol
I’m relatively new but I did a little research on this and what was recommended was farming tomatoes and fishing with glow worms, and selling the products from both
hiii!!! does anyone have a good layout for the veggie chili recipe? its my fav recipe for focus + exp so im tryna mainly maximize my amount that i get (also an apple tree snuck in would be good)
Sharing this in hopes it either
A) Helps someone
B) draws attention from someone smarter than I in palia for their tips and input
This is a setup im trying so that my fiance and I can make celebration cakes and veggie chilli (the two things for 1000 focus people) reliably and consistently.
Again any input is good input and hope this helps people (:
-we are both level 25 in gardening so we get the star quality , this in turn gives star quality food that hits that 1000 focus threshold
-still includes a lot of apples for jamming for the consistent money
-other things that can be made with small additions of meat or wild greens: bacon stuffed mushrooms, chappa masala, crab gumbo, cream of mushroom, cream of tomato, creamy carrot, fried catfish dinner, hot hounds, loaded potato soup, phoenixfire relleno, Ramen, sernuk noodle stew, steak dinner, steamed fish, stuffed tomatos, apple pie, blueberry pie, crab pot pie, elderwood pie, mushroom quiche, quiche caleri, spicy honey baked muujjn, bean burger, chapaa asada tacos, fish tacos, flowtato fries with ketchup, petit fives, and poke bowl
-we buy cotton at the store to avoid growing it-- see no point in raising quality or having a steady supply of it unless we start furniture making to the extreme.
Edit: I need to rework this ! I forgot the freaking wheat , check reply to this message below.
^^^
ooo ill def try this after my crops finish all their cycles!
Happy to help -- ive run this for about a week or so in game so far and its weed blocking potential actually is nice.
You just have to remember to water your tomatoes daily but the rest of the garden is pretty self sufficient.
Sorry to bug you again, but could I use something in place of the cotton?
Cotton is the only 1 tile crop with the quality up buff. If tou don't care about that buff, you can replace it with litterally anything else. If you want to keep that buff then you gotta either use quality up fertilizer or find a way to accommodate either spicy peppers or pumpkins, or both. Those are 4 tiles crops
Thank you!
This is my updated version that includes wheat. My bad yall i didn't realize it till I ran outta wheat
oo this looks good.. i'm going to see about using that as my layout lol, i want to start gardenmaxxing
If you put harvest fertilizer on something that has the harvest buff already, does it still consume the fertilizer even though it's a redundant buff?
crop buffs are prioritized over fertilizer. so the fertilizer would not be used
Ty
In what app do you plan this?
this is the website!
https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/
Aahh thankyou! I am quite new and havent really picked up gardening yet. Think i am lvl 3 or something. Do you guys have any tips? Bc i saw that gardening can make passive income for you hahaha
i personally at the start just did my farming when i would come back to my plot after like a day of just doing whatever (usually mining/hunting) - just so i could water, weed and harvest any crops! its best to level up or progress until you can get apple seeds since they do become very good for passive income, just make sure you also get the seed collecter and preserve jar recipe the second you get the chance since selling processed materials will get you more than selling raw!
Hey I have a question, do we have a mill in the game? Like a way to make my own flour basically
no you can only buy flour
Dang that's a bummer.
They need to make it so all the items purchasable through zeki are able to be crafted/made.
The oils, sugar, flour and etc can be made using cooking or a mill of some nature.
why does it keep doing this?
Because there's a chance it could produce an extra unstarred jam and it doesn't have space for that
wait starred fruits can produce extra unstarred jams? i had no idea that was a thing
In theory theres always a chance to produce unstarred goods so it always need a free slot, just incase.
what do i put in the worm thingy to get the fertilizer that prevents weeds?
WeedBlock Fertilizer is only available in the store
is it possible to have a 9x9 layout with every crop type and 100% water retention and weed prevention? i’m not interested in profit, i just want my farm to operate itself so i can always have what i need for cooking and making fabric and stuff
i would say yes, i think you would just have to play around with placement on palia garden planner
i have a layout with 100% water/weed but missing cotton
i dont recall if i saw it here or elsewhere, but here is a link. so credit to whoever posted first 🙂
https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.4_D-111-111-111_CR-T.HOBkPBtBtBkBtBt-PCr.HPTCTPBkP-BkOT.HBtBtPBtBtBk-CBBTBBP.HBkP-AAAAAAAAA-BBCBBTPBkP.H-Cb.HO.HT.HPm.HPm.HPPm.HPm.HBk.H-CBkCR.HPW.HCCb.HC-T.HO.HCb.HPS.HS.HBk.HS.HS.H_D360L75
here’s one that includes cotton (only 1 but its better than nothing lol)
@umbral python if you want more cotton, you can replace the wheat and rice here and it stays at 100% water retention and weed prevention
I have a bunch of them that I made
#🌱│gardening message
Pretty sure that's mine
then credit goes to you 🙂
quick question if the crops that are buffing lets say the main crop if they get weeds or don't get watered will the main crop still get the buffs?
yes they still provide the buffs
awesome thanks
Is anyone else amazed at how much money you make from Gardening and Ranching. I am continually nearing the gold ceiling and keep having to go buy stuff to bring it down. I have even tailored my starter plot to reflect this, I have a preserve and seed kitchen, a storage barn, just building a farm shop/bakery/cafe :). Also looking forward to looking at the suggested plots in here 🙂
gardening in this game is crazy 6 hours before i can start harvesting is insane not to mention apple trees which is like 12hours? safe to say i hardly make any money with gardening unless 9k gold is considered good after 4-5hours.
gardening is meant to be passive money. you're going to make the most out of doing other skills (hunting, mining, fishing, bugs, party cooking). the reason behind this is that the crafters run while you are offline while the crops don't. so, the object is to harvest/replant your crops put them into the crafters and then log off and come back for gold.
tbh with the amount of time crops take it should grow while offline add in a sprinkler system and it would make sense for those timers not to mention every cosy game has 1 thing in common farms and here it feels like it takes a backseat.
say i'm doing a basic "make tomatoes into preserves for gold" route. Is it best to actually take the star tomatoes and make more star seeds, and then make preserves with what's left? Or does using star seeds not make that much of a difference? or am I thinking about this wrong - could use some guidance
At level 25 gardening if I am right all seeds, regardless of if their star or not produce starred crops. However up till that point I tend to make sure in storage I always have double the amount of star seeds I need for tomatoes for instance, I keep a base number of 100 in stock, and then all others are "pickled" and either sold or fed to animals.
At present I make at least 20k a day just from the inital crops when I log on, presevrves and my ranching crops.
If I can play more in a day, a couple of hours you get a lot more money as each day ticks off....
ok, so distilled down plan should be (as I am only lvl8) turn all starred crops into seeds until I have a sufficient back stock of star seeds. After that turn star crops into preserves.
All plain crops become preserves regardless
That sound about right?
Yes, that's how I do it!!, your stocks don't even have to be the same number as mine as I tend to keep stocks for cooking parties and if I have surplus which when you get into the cycle, especially if you play a lot, I put in my worm farms to sell the surplus worms and fertiliser....
Additionally flowers/blooms when you place them on your plot they grow and produce a seed. Thus duplicating, selling them as well brings in some cheeky gold, same with trees 🙂
I'll probably keep to a stock of 60, that's about 2x replanting the whole garden for each. Thank you so much @fringe mauve . really appreciate the input
My pleasure, happy gardening!!!
I like that this has harvest boost too lol, maybe I'll switch my layout around (trying to start optimizing to join cooking parties)
does leveling up result in higher crop yeilds?
no, it's just a higher chance to get star crops when harvesting, around level 20 you'll start to get nothing but star crops from star seeds and around level 38, even regular seeds will give you star crops
Thank you
From your other comments, are you doing tomatoes into preserves for gold? Starred tomatoes for starred preserves?
Also are you doing a full plot of tomatoes and watering every in game day, using boosts etc? Im trying to learn how to min max my gardening for the most passive income haha
Currently im trying an afk bok choy farm, putting it into seeds and selling those, but im not sure thats the best gold p/h?
Ive also just realised im lvl 26 gardening so i dont need to boost the quality of the bok choy with other crops right? They will always be starred? So many questions and considerations haha
Edit: im using other crops around my bok choy so i dont have to water or weed them. I think i probably dont need to quality boost them either
Firstly these are my daily preserves, 2x tomatoes, apples, blueberries and potatoes. Surplus rice goes into the glow worm farm. All manure other than a 100 is sold and all worms/glow worms over 300 are sold. Those are the base limits I keep.
I feed my ranch animals tomato preserves and each day I replenish my stock of 100, the rest are sold. I continually grow in my plot, tomatoes, potatoes, wheat, rice, corn, beans, blueberries, apples, cotton, onions and carrots. I keep 350 apples in stock, 350 blueberries, 200 rice, and 200 tomatoes. Everything else I keep 50 and replenish when I need the rest are sold either raw or made into preserves.
Ranching stuff is also sold once per day, again I keep a stock of the stuff I am gonna need, milk, eggs, fish for buff food. Altogether this gives passively consistently about 20k a real time day, which adds up when it's passively gained. As for watering and weeding, I have a buffed watered configuration I got when I first started that suits me well. I still have to weed, but very little watering.
As for the level 25 thing, that's what I was recently told, however I can't really comment as I am level 102 now as I garden throughout a play session. However @clear kindle above mention that it's around level 38 that regular seeds give starred crops so have an experiment. I do know that I don;t ever get un-starred crops now and haven't for a long while.
However I also only use starred seeds as it's so easy to bung em in the hopper and I like to see them smoking away. Production makes me happy, it's my ASD. I know some people will disagree that this is a lot of money, however when you are gathering and playing at the same time it adds up. Recently I have noticed it as I am building heavily and despite the fact I keep buying lots of stuff, the income for this keeps topping it up!!.
Also if you are new I can't recommend joining a community enough cooking parties for profit are your friend in this game early on, look for profit sushi/sashimi/fish stew parties that use *maws/giant goldfish it makes an obscene amount of money for just over an hour of your time and usually the outlay of 60 rice. 🙂
gardening is passive income
every time i log back in, i have to reset the recipes on my crafters.
Gah that sounds nasty?, How so, I tend to leave my preserves makers stocked with the full 30 resources?. If it's only a quick log-in it ensure I have preserves to harvest when I come back and if it's a longer play-session every garden harvest I re-stock the hoppers?. I am assuming yours aren't working this typically?
nah. they just stop working if i log out and log back in most of the time. then again, i only come on the game every so often, so it probably has something to do with accumulated offline time. i wouldn't blame the devs in that case, player retention's important, but man, it's inconvenient.
That sounds like a full time job! Haha thanks for sharing :)
I dont do ranching as i find it utterly boring and theres alreadt so much to do in the game, i dont feel like im missing out. Gardening/prcoessing is fun, Im gonna experiment with different things and see how it goes !
Yeah Ive been part of a community for a while where we do regular cooking parties including legendary/epic sashimis so im not too short on cash, im also building a lot atm so i was just curious about how to also max my garden/processing on top of the mad profits from the cooking parties :D
Good luck, I find that if I do my harvesting and fill my hoppers first job, I only need to check my gardening plot and re-fill hoppers when I come back to the plot for the inevitable inventory purge. However you are right, there is a lot to do in this game!. I am also building at present which is why I realised how much moohlah I was generating. Those yardwork pieces when bought in bulk are expensive and I kept wondering why I kept nearing the money cap. My Husband was like, leave off the preserves and harvesting then. I was like are you mad!! no I'll just buy more stuff!!!
Haha for some reason i hate coming near the gold cap!! I have a whole bunch of maws poke bowls sitting in storage that would take me to well over the gold cap, they're just sitting in there like gold in a bank :D
But back on topic, im quite looking forward to getting my passive income factory going! Thank you :)
Good evening!
I got into the game yesterday, so I'm as poor and not experienced as one can be.
How do I join communities and find cooking parties?
I'll still need to learn and master a lot before joining other real players ofc, but just to know where shoud I look for it in the future
Hey there Eva, first of all welcome to Palia, I am quite biased, but I do think it's a great game. Communities that suit you can be found on Bahari Bay Stables side bar here...https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1267631845013721158 most communties run a vast amount of events not just cooking, but cooking parties tend to be the easiest to join as a starter as you just usually have to stir something like rice...or chop a tomato. Don't feel like you have to rush this game, everything comes...I haven't been playing a year yet, and my playtime is sporadic due to a full professional life and being a SEN parent. However I have made it to level 416 so far just taking it steady and enjoying myself. This game really is all about just quietly living your little life!! (hugs)
Thank you so much for answer!
I didn't have accses to the channel, guess I didn't tick something right.
No rushing is my motto🤭
Good luck with your kid! Best of wishes and lots of strength ♥️
No worries, feel free to add me and if you need something I can help with I am more than happy to help!!
Is there a faster method to apply fertilizer to a square? My thumb is about to fall off using thousands of harvest boost ferts ☠️
Does anyone have a layout for fast lvling gardening skill please?
Would also love a layout that would help with leveling please.
Maybe a stupid question but… does the grow all out gazebo grow on its own of am I supposed to do something? 😅
Supposed to water the center of the gazebo, you should see a watering bar appear in the middle.
**had to remove and rethink wording, apologize if anyone was tagged by me and sees nothing
nope, the thumbs get a work out. hopefully in the future they could put something for it
So I've been looking at the various afk layouts that have been shared (here and on reddit), but while they usually have 100% water/weed coverage, usually they don't account for how long each crop grows. It means I found myself kind of wandering around spending a lot of time figuring out which spots needed replanting.
Does anybody have any tips or layout suggestions for minimizing this? I'd rather water more frequently than solve the replanting-puzzle constantly
Edit to add: I don't really care about maximizing income, I'd rather just max convenience while ideally making sure I have at least a little of every crop coming in for whatever I end up needing them for
the best tips i can give is to either harvest and replant the crops as they become available i.e. harvest and replant the potatoes and then move on to the next crop that's ready and continue on until all crops are harvested or to change into a layout that you only harvest one or two crops which makes tending the garden extremely easy
Before I sell my seeds, is it better to sell all my non start seeds and just keep the star seeds? I’ve noticed that when cooking everyone always prefers star ingredients
always replant star seeds first then if you don't have enough of those then the regular seeds. as your level progresses this will be a far easier task as at around level 20 you'll start to notice that you are getting nothing but star crops from star seeds and at level 38 even regular seeds will give star crops
So then it just depends, I should just keep a few just in case
if you don't think you'll have enough star for replant, yes would keep a few
How do we get flow seeds to plant flow trees on your plot? Because I got the item that dispenses seeds but after over a month, it only gave normal seeds (no flow). So how do we get those?
I’ve heard it’s given randomly more like a “luck” type of thing but I mean anyone can correct me if I’m wrong please do because I too am questioning that
it is by luck, I’ve gotten some and other times the regular tree seeds
What's a good farm for cabbage, bok choy, potatoes, and onions thats water retaining? I don't know what to put in there and how for harvest boost.
^
Garden does not want to tile XD
Apple trees, just straight up nine apple trees and keep your food full.
All crops give 4 exp per slot per day of growth. Regrowing crops give exp based on total grow time divided by number of harvests on each harvest
hi i just found this layout and I wanted to try it out.. for the fertilizers per day... does that mean that I put the green fertilizer on day one then the one with leaves on the second day so on? (im the one who drew the numbers)
no, the layout doesn't say that it uses any fertilizer (no numbers by them) so you don't have to place any fert if you don't want to. that being said, you can only place 1 type of fertilizer on a crop at a time, crop buffs take priority over the fertilizer so placing harvest boost on a crop that is next to rice/wheat/corn/apple/blue/beans is never going to be used, and you need to apply the fertilizer for every stage growth of the plant to get the full effect of the fert if it is used
hi, just wondering is pumpkin seed seasonal? or I still can get them? thank you!
can still get them
question: i'm trying to reserve one dirt plot to hold weeds. (i prefer having a gardening section with two sides of 4 plots each, so the extra is gonna be hidden lol) ive got three weeds on a dirt plot already, how can i advance that? i know its possible, just dont know if im making it harder on myself somehow
well, for starters, it's just going to take time for the weeds to appear where you want them by checking/weeding the spots that you don't want them going. second of all keep in mind that having 9 weeds will prevent the garden from growing
the whole garden or just the plot with the weeds? because i know that. since the dirt plot is going to be hidden i dont really care about that plot being unable to grow.
if 1 out of my 9 dirt plots cant grow im honestly okay with that
the whole garden
what?? thats a terrible feature ew
there was a time that you could have the 9 weeds for infinite weed block, but somewhere they silently patched it out
dang thats not cool
now, you can have 8 weeds on your plots with no problem, stopping the plants that are on those from growing like normal, but once you have the nine it causes the problems
Does anyone know if we can see how many days are left for a crop to harvest? i thought there was a way before but i forgot
Seed hoppers hold far more now
They also stack much higher in your inventory
Be careful when selling, it'll dump 100 at a time now.
The seeds stacking to 100 is actually huge. Means that seeders can process a whole stack without stalling, which is pretty great
Far more friendly to players who might not play every day
O my phoenix i completely forgot the relevance for the crafters
Me too DS! I was thinking yesterday wow, I don’t need to hold 3 stacks when replenishing the garden. Totally forgot about the seed makers! This is awesome!
This is revolutionary
Does anyone know how long the Carrots and Tomatoes finish growing?
carrots 3
tomatoes 4 2 2 2 (10 total)
growthticks
Oh sweet thanks
Dang u been at the grind that's a lot
I’m level 104, I’ve just been planting randomly but I like to keep stock of all the kinds. How can I find a passive layout/does anyone have one already?
Just re-getting into the game. Need to make some money, badly, and I know that this is probably the best way to do it.
My question is, is it better to have all 9 of my plots in one lump, or is okay to put walking paths and stuff between them? I want to make sure that water retention, harvest boost, etc. are optimal.
for optimizing everything they all need to be lumped togehter
Thank you!
This post has links to compilations of layouts for both everything gardens (all are 100% water/weed buffs but some need more fertiliser) and more afk gardens, is this the sort of thing you are looking for?
#🌱│gardening message
Yes I’m looking for an everything garden with buffs! Thank you!
so question from someone who is new at what level will you have all 9 plots for gardening
hey guys, my question got lost in general but when doing the bloom, how does the sprout plushie drop? Is it bonus loot from looting the plants? Or will one of the plants you're watering turn into a plushie?
You can get all 9 at level 2 iirc, assuming you have enough money to buy them all from Badruu's shop
I can tell you for sure that you don't have to actually water the plants to be able to receive the lil sprout plush. I showed up late to Bloom yesterday after everything had already been watered, started plucking flowers and got the plush.
So it's a bonus while picking a flower? Like, you don't just see the plush sitting on the ground?
Correct - that being said, my game is buggy as heck being on the Switch, but I did not see a plush sitting on the ground. Just regular flowers
Well I'm on switch too most of the time so I assume I'll see the same thing as you
Thanks!
Yess, sometimes when I chuck a whole stack of bok choi in there, it would stall at like, 3 left 🫠
Really? Even 6 seeds per cabbage would give 180 per stack of 30 cabbage, which is less than 2 stacks of seeds now, so it shouldn't stall...
I'm assuming you emptied the output before putting in the Bok Choy?
Or are you talking about how it would stall before?
Before, yes! Not anymore
👍 Yeah, it's a fantastic QoL change tbh
Wish they would do the same for preserves honestly. That's still a massive pet peeve of mine since it stops at 61 TvT
(2 stacks of 30, after it made no. 61 it won't do anymore until you empty it)
That's the same with seeds though. After 2 stacks of seeds, it stalls.
Yeah, it's a pain as it means you can use less of the output as extra storage, but it's not terrible imo
Also, just to actually compare it with seeders, preserve bins are still generally better.
If you put a stack of a crop that gives 4 seeds per crop (a large chunk of them), or even cabbage which is 6 per crop, then put another stack in without emptying the output first, it will stall before processing that 2nd stack.
Preserve Jars on the other hand will never stall until you then put in another item after that 2nd stack is done
Same, happened to me and I was surprised!
Pretty sure I got the sprout plush from just a regular sundrop lily in the Bloom event.
I'm on PC, it dropped from a regular sundrop lily for me, I saw it on the left side of the screen with the flowers (not on the center of the screen like most plushies).
Hai.
Who knows the best apple farm layout please! 🍎
we have many depending onwhats best for you HI eliza
how much apples u need how muhc effort is ok wiht u for hte farm u want lazyness profit side crops
I need them for lures so I need lots of them
But I’m kinda lazy but idm grinding for abit
oh max apple u need it afk aswell? fertless?
Idk I would prefer afk
Merci
without fertiliser u could afk 4 apples max
now htis hting consuems ALOT of hb fert so if u need to know hwo to produce enuff for that let me know
i do wonder how can u have sufficient draognbeardpeat to not run out of that waaayyy faster then apples
That’s called switching server 100 times a day and grinding for it for the whole day
hardcore for sure
not my precious medals with which i buy stupid amoutns of skill guild furniture that i dont use
hey, so can someone tell me if its just me but ALL of my crops are starred quality when i harvest them. like even when the seeds aren't starred and i dont fertilise them at all. so now i have like no normal quality crops which i need for cooking as i dont have that much starred quality for a lot of the foraging stuff
Star chance increases per lv u also do not need starred foragables to cook with ur starred produce
Someone told me once you hit lvl 25 you get starred crops
how would i do that tho... sorry if im being stupid but when i start a recipe without the normal crops it shows this when i try to select the starred
U need to check the allow starred checkbox
If u do that and u run out of starred it will then select unstarred
Ur not being stupid i cant believe its designed like tjis and they still havent changed it
tysm
Also becuz of how this works u sometimes have to lockbox some stuff so u can select the right thing
Example u only got starred daricloves but want to use unstarred spice sprouts for a any spice step
Then u need to put it innthe lockbox so u can select the spice sprouts
Can't you select which spice you want to use just like how you can select which fish you can use in recipes that are "any fish"? If you're cooking a bunch it'd definetely be easier to just lockbox the daris but if you cook just one or two, it takes like 2 seconds to hover over the spice and press select to choose whic one to use. At least I know we can do that with fish so I assume the same would be true with spices
my example was u only got starred spice as dari clove and u dont wanna use that for any spice
Yeah, that's what I mean. Isn't there an option to choose which spice you want use just like how you can choose which fish you want to use when in "any fish" recipes before you start the recipe?
if checkbox allow starred
u got 1 starred spice
3 types of unstarred spice
u can only select the starred spice till its out or lockboxed
it depends on the recipe. Some demand a certain spice. Duh meant that if you do not want to use the starred version of it, you lock the starred in the box and the game will then use the normal, even, if you selected "Cook with starred" - the system is....strange to say the least.
Ah. Makes sense. Don't mind me, I just woke up, brain is only half awake
No, they meant 2 different kinds of spices. They said if you for example have starred dar but wanna use unstarred spice sprouts then you have to lockbox the dari so the game will let you use the unstarred sprouts
hmm...it still depends on what you are cooking. There are recipes that demand a certain ingredient, so you cannot choose what to use. Others will let you choose, like the kind of meat or fish or spice you want.
But yes, either way, if you do not want to use your starred versions of anything, you store it in the lockbox.
I know, but we were both specifically talking about an "any" situation
It only lets me buy 7 plots, how are you managing to get 9?
what is ur lv it should go up to 9 total soils eventually unless u run into a bug
maybe u have some in ur inventory storage lockbox/another plot
ah yes possibly why then, im only level 5 started the other day, any reccomendations for leveling up quickly? Im basically growing choy all 7 plots then selling those but i heard you make more from the seeds? i buy the seeds at the store so probably not making too much profit
you should be able to buy the seeder recipe from badruu's store. use that to make your own seeds, save enough to replant, and then sell all the rest
i mean if u just keep doing what ur doing anyways youd ont have to bother getting in a layout for 7 soils asu unlock 9 soils quickly enuff anyways XD
Okay fab, i need to make enough for the seeder yet
u can do it
has the new seed bag sizes changed whats most profitable to sell or is it still bok choy kimchi
it only changed the amount u can chug into a seeder before it stalls whats most profitable is still the same but it has now become more reaalistic to make full use of the seeders for stuff like beans bokchoi potatoe
not sure if anyone wants this but ill put it here anyway. its a 4 apple tree self sustaining farm. as long as you keep all the other plants there, just deal with the apple trees. should produce 96 star apples every harvest
convergence of design moment XD
Nice!! 😂
wanna play spot the difference XD
XD I'm down
mh fert usage difference is large
Yes it definitely is. I tried to get the most I could lol.
mission accomplished on that then
Well said 😄🤣
I feel I have to admit, that gardening really is my calling in this game. Never would of thought, but I hit level 300 tonight, and I have to admit that I'm feeling it with a new house and plot build centered on the garden.
hey, i havent played in over 2 years. this was the farm layout i was doing for max profit: https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.2_DIM-111-111-111_CROPS-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb-CbCrCbPRPCbCrCb
is this still the best layout for profit or is there a better one?
i also saw there were 2 new crops added, pumpkin and beans, not sure if i should be including that in the farm layout now
it depends if you want to afk with weed prevent and water retain or go for maximum earnings, but basicaly bok choy is the way to go and potatoes
I just had a thought, can a dual sense edge controler be used to fertilize, without having to pres the buton 100 times?
i think afk one would be more suitable for me
Yeah I find this so annoying. I don't want to waste lockbox space just so my starred spices aren't used in random cooking. Just let me select which things used starred, or let us choose to prioritize unstarred but use starred if we don't have it.
Did they change how many times you can harvest tomatoes from one plant? I just harvested the ones I planted the other day and they disappeared. This was my first harvest from them.
4 2 2 2
10 days total 4 harvests total
the game can always have memory issues(this is so annoying) or u are confused
finally unlocked preserves jar.. if I use starred potatoes would it make starred preserves?
yes
Thought its more money per potatoe to turn em into seeds
But turning into seeds takes longer
There's so many guides on this and I just feel overwhelmed.
I dont suppose someone could help with a layout that has 1 apple tree and the 2x2 crops? the main purpose for now is keep quality up while i grow crops to make more apple/blueberry seeds
I am not great at this designing business 😄
Is there a reason im seeing alot of suggested layouts ive seen dont include cotton?
buying ur own fabric is cheaper hten growing it (aside form the beginning)
and the quality up bvuff becomes completely useless at lv25 for starred seeds nad 38 for unstarred seeds
so fgor most poeple including cotten makes 0 sense
that makes total sense its overwhelming for beginners but we can always help u out
Im not a beginner but I've restarted recently and only just recently learned about crops buffs and placements
What is the quality up buff from lvl 25
hi eliza
how have u been
quality chance is 25% +2% per lv
+25% for starred seeds
+50% for quality up
hence all starred seeds only starred p[roduce lv25 and for unstarred seeds lv38
Hi dude I am good ty! Hope you too 😄 and oh ?? I never even knew that but I never really garden much, TY
I’m just curious now because I’m mass producing apples now for lures
suffering from janurary atm it will be over soon SOON
u can use the starred produce for everything but gifting aslong as poeple dont forget the allow starred checkbox during cooking in case u have to know that to
Wait Wut do u mean for everything
u can cook wiht it craft furniture with it and gift em to villagers and u do not need to have starred foragables to cookw ith em
oww, didn’t even know, thanks;D
Can I just do 9 apple trees and water them everyday
Wil I get more apples that way then doing the other layout
It’ll just be more work I guess
i mean without harvest boost u get a third less produce
Omg is that the one I need to purchase from zekis store
I don’t even use any fertiliser or whatever on my crops
I didn’t know if was a third less
well like u normally get 100% produce and with harvest boost everytime it grows onit u get 150%
but substracting seeds cost its slightly better then a 50% buff
but its not htat hard to always have harvest boost
uhm eliza how about i give u a water it urself but it has full harvest bvoost and weedblock apple layout without fertiliser?
or full waterretain harvestboost apple layout without fertiliser?
Can u give me one that is the best
i also have 6 afk apples with fertiliser
it really depends what would u like the most
Wait I think you told me about the 6afk Apple one the other day when I posted
But that won’t get as much apples right
theres variants without the fertiliser that still get harvest boost but then u have to water or pluck weeds if u dont want to produce so much fertiliser
or u can just ignore hte fertiliser
ive been spoiled by unlocking preserves jars aaa
im afraid to sell any raw veggies or fruits now
problem is i dont want to keep paying to unlock the crafting stations. im considering a second plot just for certain stations. is this something people do LOL
the cap is across all plots so it snot like at a cap of 6 u can place 6 per plot nope its more like if u place 3 on one plot the second plot u can only place 3 and then all theo thers 0
dang they were thoughtful with this. thank you
when i started out and was low on crafters i swapped out the smelters and sawmills etc when i wasnt using em just to be bale to proces all veggies
that's what i was considering yeah, like ive made enough lightbulbs atm ill tuck one of the smelts away
coudl alwyas atend a mawshimi party or 2 to get most of hte crafter slots
Just so you know you can only have weeds on 9 spot of your garden so if you let it grow on water buff plants you don't need weed buff plants
That way you can upgrade to a weed free, auto-watering 7 apple tree layout
Sure, but you run the risk of crops reverting their growth randomly.
This doesn't affect everyone who uses the 9 weed technique/exploit, but some people get crops very out of sync because of it.
Due to this, that 9 weed technique/exploit isn't generally recommended here
(Also, some people aren't a fan of irregular layouts that aren't 3x3 squares, which I believe 7 apples would need)
Tried it but knapweed bug prevents it from working
What's the most bushies you can get on a plot with 100% water/weed and 1 apple tree? Been trying to get 8 and am losing the will to live 😂
Are blueberries good? 🫐 I just unlocked my first seed. I don't have preserve jars yet
not really but u do need some for various things and as a larger plant they are less work
Made my first garden layout and I’m so proud ^_^ would love some thoughts
It’s pretty focused on cooking parties and daily needs; I have beans and potatoes for feeding my ranch animals (preserved), apples and extra blueberries for cake, And pepper, wheat, and rice etc. for other focus foods
My goal was complete water retention as well as high harvest and quality boost because I’m not level 25 yet! I also added weed block over the entire plot because I hate weeds 💔
Right now I have way too much onion and bok choy in my inventory so I came up with this but I’m sure I’ll switch it up again soon haha
the harvest boost could be higher but for no fert such a high variety of crop and quality upping everything its quiet good
i wouldnt even bother perfecting it unles u make it for otehrs as the effort to improve it by that time u could just hit lv25
and hten ditch the cotton making a whole new layout
Yess my main priority was harvest boost on the “important” crops, especially ones like the pumpkins that drop so little each harvest
yeay pumpkins are brutal
I’m excited to get rid of the cotton right now it’s a means to an end 💔 but this layout is just to grind out these next 10 levels
if u end up cycling out of that layout and are close to it
just grow a few hardcore cottons
and at the end of cycle close to hitting 25 u might wanna not replant or harvest some of the larger crops
Ooo yess I recently learned that even if they’re fully grown the plants keep their buffs until harvested
So I’ve been more patient with harvesting
how can I level up gardening fast? I want to reach 10 so I can get tree seeds
Up ur focus boost
Keep em watered weed free
Keep growing stuff
what do weeds do to my crops?
they unwater em and that stops em from growing
and if u have 9 weeds total u get weird ur crops traveling back in time bugs
oh lol thanks
well, I don't like waterning or weeding, so I made this
lazy layout
and I'm sure I'll use the quality up fert from the glow worms... too bad I'm missing on harvest+
wait i can actually improve it a bit
muuuuch better. but i think this is as good as it gets
hold on a sec... the fert u get from worm farms improves harvest and not quality??
dependso n what u dump in
or really? the wiki says that the only way to get qualityup is to purchase it
quality up crafting bench or sweet stuff in wormers
harvestboost savory wormers and medals
weedblock water retain zeki
speedy grow medals only
TIL...
I see. well, I still don't have access to any reliable source of "sweet stuff", so I'll probably have to stick to purchasing qualityup ones if I want to boost my crops
OR I could do something like this
u stop needing it at lv25 with starred seeds though
starred seeds? I didn't know those produce starred crops every time
depends on ur ***GARDENING ***lv
ah. I'm gardening lvl 8 and character lvl 50 or something
No tree but I got 8 bushes hahaha
I think this is my best 1x1 only's
Yes every quality boost you put on a crop it’ll be star. You can craft the quality fertilizer. All you need is star Bugs, meat and sun drop lilies
I love gardening I’m level 16 now. Once you hit level 30 you won’t need to make any Quality Fertilizer anymore cause then everything you harvest will be Star
I want to understand these planners so bad. I just hit level 9 in gardening and the number crunching is so hard for me
the more seed collectors, preserves jars and glow worm/worm farms I get the more I dont know what to do with anything lmao
I was so much happier when I was all haha harvest time! sell sell sell the raw produce LOL
I wanted to make my dream 9x9 plot. lots of apples and berries so I can produce jam. what do you think? my goal was to make it 100/0/100/100, or at least 100% water retention and weed prevention, but i couldn't...
which one of the two do you think is better? is it worse to have the middle tree subject to weeds, or 4 tomatoes?
oh look I actually did it wtf?
I hate how asymmetric this is
perfect!
may i offer a suggestion for lazy idc about production layout?
sure
what are some really good crops to grow, money aside?
like crops that are needed for the best recipes, if any
Dude im saving this, i needed a layout for apples so bad and this is awesome
What kind of fertilizer is it on it?
weed prevention since it's not getting that from the crops it looks like, which you will need to go and buy from zeki. if you drop one apple tree (use 4 instead of 5) you can get a completely bush/tree lazy layout.
I go to cake parties strictly for worm food!! It makes sooo much fertilizer
@frozen quartz
how many fertilizers does it take to boost a 2x2 and 3x3 crop? crop? 1 & 1 or 4 & 9?
I'm glad! ♥️ it's one of the first layout I made. I can see future me making lots and lots of jams, so I wanted to maximize apple production, and I threw in the mix some blueberries too. here's an updated version which might be slightly better if you don't feel like harvesting as soon as anything is ready every time, and would rather wait
wheat and cabbage take 1 extra day, so more profit
you can also swap tomatoes with potatoes but I don't think it's better
speaking of fertilizer, is the only way to get weed prevention fert buying it in a shop? or can you mass produce it?
now, I've seen a lot of layouts in this channel focused on apples, but they often just include 3 to 4 apple trees. why? isn't 5 optimal? and you get 4 berries to boot!
Mass production via building worm farm via workbench
ohhhhh awesome! I didn't know worms could make that type. what kind of ingredient?
But not 100% sure if that's just booster or prevention
@unreal solstice ^^Hopefully that helps
it does! is that a sheet or docx file?
I just googled weed prevention palia lol
ah that's AI...
you're best off checking the wiki! AI is notoriously unreliable
4 and 9
Easier stacking of buffs without fertiliser. If you want to use a load of fertiliser anyway, you can get 6 apples into a layout
But you have to buy Weed and Water fertilisers, the only ones that Glow/Worm Farms produce are Quality Up and Harvest Boost
6 apples?! I have to try that...
Depends what you mean by better.
Potatoes are the highest profit water-retaining crop. Then tomatoes, then cabbage.
Tomatoes last the longest without needing to replant (10 days), but you have to go back and harvest at days 4,6,8,10. Potatoes you can plant and just go back after 5 days, Cabbage go back after 6 days
Want to try and work it out yourself, or do you want a link to a layout?
wouldn't mind a link, ty
And the bonus is you can use Worm Farms to produce all of your Harvest Boost fertiliser for it too
very nice. is 6 apples more profitable than 5 apples and 4 blueberries?
and why cabbage over tomatoes?
yeah that's really handy. and you only need to purchase a handful of other types of fertilizers for the other crops
oh and I've also noticed the onions. better than carrots?
Apples are more profitable than Blueberries per space, but the single tile crops are more profitable than both (except Cabbage which is between Apple and Blueberries, profit-wise)
So yeah, 6 apples will be more profitable.
Duh likes to use Cabbge and Tomatoes in his layout plans as Tomatoes and Apples look kinda similar otherwise. So, easier to tell what everything is at a glance this way. If you want profit, just use Tomatoes and Potatoes.
Onions and Carrots are very close together in profit. Carrots are a little better but need replanting more often and Onions are used in more cooking dishes, so most people tend to choose Onions
If you're interested in profit rankings of the crops, have a look at the table in my post here #🌱│gardening message
hey @vagrant steppe, @supple stone here might have showed me a better layout than the one I made for maximizing apples, if you're interested!
Well, thank DuhScape, it's his layout 🙂
Just remember, Apples aren't the most profitable crop (about middle of the pile) - but they are the most convenient one
yeah seems like it. at least you can make jam out of them
I mean, some crops are best off seeded for profit, so them being preservable isn't necessarily the best thing anyway
Especially now that they boosted the seed stack size
I just harvest my apple layout for the xp and cabbage can be left growing for longer so i harvest all every 6 cycles
that makes sense
what's the best way to use apples for money then? jams, seeds, or raw apples?
For apples, it is jams - you were right, DW
Raw crops are never the best though
It my point im super close to gold cap so i stop caring about money
I just want more cow plush
alright thanks much ♥️ it's great that a single crop can give me most of what I need to make it sustainable and resell it. a portion of it goes into the seed maker, some will turn into fertilizer, and the rest will become jam for selling
now it's just a rush to gardening lvl 10
Apples in worms dont make harvestvoost though
But i gues quality up is usefull to u
If its sweet quality up
Savior harvest boost
damn... I'll have to use another crop to make harvest boosts then
are potatoes considered sweet or salty? lol
and is your layout able to sustain itself with harvest boosts, or do you buy them?
It reminds me of my first year playing the game ^^
I um have a reserve of 1000 fishes left to grill
And a constant stream of meats and foragables from just playing
And u could dump ranching stuff in there to
Hi guys! I'm wondering if anyone has any layout they recommend that includes beans and bok choy but it doesn't have apples or blueberries
I'm trying to upgrade my level on farming while selling some stuff/keeping other for cooking
Bean burgers for harvest boost and cake for quality up… thank me later
A single starred cake or burger is enough to fertilize my whole plot
That does for d u to cook more though making it only for the chefs among us
Does anyone have some time to maybe help me plan my garden plot? I'm mostly farming for preserves and seeds, water retention, harvest boost and profit is the most important to me
I'm getting so overwhelmed with the garden planner thing trying to figure it out
anything specific u like to grow?
somethign like this?
I typically grow potatoes, spicy red peppers, batterfly beans, tomatoes for water retention mostly and preserves, cotton and just started growing blueberries a bit but not sure of them Lol
That looks good
wow. I knew I should get into bok choy Lol
uhm what is ur gardening lv?
I just hit level 9
oh then for more money u need quality up on ur layout
i got a more complicated one but uhm u dont need weedblock yet cuz the whack 1k weeds achiement
Should I prioritize qualityup over harvestboost fert or can I apply both?
that simpler layout i showed u has both but no weedblock
i mean u could quality up the cotton but thats kinda stupid
Is that because if I get a bunch of star quality cottons it'd be dumb to spin fabric?
and uhm quality up is better htenn harvest boost when ur low lv and still need to get some starred seeds but after that harvest boost keeps beating it more and more
yeay and u need so much cotton its always best to loom it into fabric cuz that prevents u from having to buy fabric which is even pricier but once u dont need qualit y up anymore cuz ur gardening is higher lv making u always have starred crops anyways ur better of not growing cotton at all and producing and processing something else to sell and then buy the fabric
Oh alright, true. Are beans and spicy peppers worth it iyo?
spicy peppers not much but its used in cooking
beans uhm i think they are a total paint o make a good layout for though
ty for this advice
This gardening crunching is more math than I've done since highschool lmao
andi mnot even the one who makes spreadsheets out of it
Those are Harvard level to me, thesis level help to the community tho
not really its more of a u either get it or dont
and i never find the mental energy or time or reason to b other wiht learning spreadsheeting ... always 1 of the 3 is missing
Same I have little free time
be happy u were not here when we were discussing matrix formula and players playtime rosters for scenario optimalisations ....
anyways if poeple wanna minmax to hardcore i tell em to save the effort and do a mawshimi party instead
Played around in the planner last night and made this. 100% weedblock/water retain everything garden, needs 21 hb fert to get 100% harvest boost
https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.4_D-111-111-111_CR-P.HBkCTAACAA-TPBkABtBtABtBt-C.HS.HS.HTS.HS.HCbBk.HP.H-BkAAP.HBkWT.HOR-AOCbPBk.HPCbOA-CrOT.HRBkP.HAABk-P.HBk.HCbPm.HPm.HTPm.HPm.HC.H-BBABBABkPT-AACAATCBkP.H_D360GtL75Cr0.AP-BtP-SP-BP-PmP-CrP-RS-CbP-PS-BkS-CP-OP-WS-TP
did u know if u minmax the fert with the same crops 17 hb fert required is the minimum
but nice to have one of these with double apples
though the amount of singletile hb crops is quiet low(chefs among us would use so much fo those)
Yeah, I have good layouts with lots of grains already, I was just playing around with this one. Originally I had the pumpkins against the bloobls and the peppers against the beans so they were naturally buffed but I couldn't get the 100% water/weed like that so I switched it around a bit. I pribably could improve this though
😮 i checked my layout library and apaprently 13 fert is hte best
🤣 to think i stole one of tarinas layout to only now realise i had a better layout months before her lmao
Oh yeah, look at that, I just made another everything garden and 13 hb ferts was the best I could muster with 2 trees while keeping 100% weedblock/water retain
https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.4_D-111-111-111_CR-R.HPBkCTBtBkPBt-OP.HCb.HBtSSBtSS-Bk.HPR.HCT.HCCrPBk-AAAAAAAAA-WBkOCbP.HCbOBkW-AAAAAAAAA-BkPCrCT.HCR.HPBk.H-PmPmBPmPmBCb.HP.HO-BPBkBTCBkPR.H_D360GtL75Cr0.AP-BtP-SP-BP-PmP-CrP-RS-CbP-PS-BkS-CP-OP-WS-TP
i think ive made a good self sustaining cotton farm. feel like theres room for optimzation though. any feedback?
https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.4_D-111-111-111_CR-PTOCCoCoORT-CTPCoRCoPOC-OCTCoCoPTRO-TWCPCoOCWP-CoWCoCCbPCoWCo-PWCOCoTCWP-ORTPCoCoTCO-COPCoRCoPTC-TROCoCoCOPT
There was indeed room for optimization lol
https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.4_D-111-111-111_CR-PTOCCoCoORT-CTPRCoCoPOC-OCTRCoPTCoO-TCoCPCoOCWP-CoWCoCCbPCoWCo-PWCOCoTCCoP-OCoTPCoRTCO-COPCoCoRPTC-TROCoCoCOPT
question? why do you need a cotton farm? are you low level that you need the quality up? genuine question
hey anyone know how to level up gardening faster? i used parties for cooking and bug hunting but my gardening is just so slow
The only way is to log in and garden more.
If you log in a bit before in-game 6am (quarter past the hour for almost all timezones), you can get 2 days worth of growth in a short amount of time (log on, harvest/replant, wait for 6am, harvest/replant, log off if wanted, do the same for gardening just under 2 hours later.
As always, try to make sure your focus bar has enough for each harvest (harvesting apples especially), and with on increasing your focus bonus if it isn't maxed yet.
All crops are the same for exp (average out at the same exp per day) but a lot of people prefer apples because you don't need to harvest them as often
#🌱│gardening message is an example of a 6 apple layout, but it needs a lot of fertiliser
But you absolutely can grow anything you want, my only advice would be to have full water/weed buffs coverage for the most convenience
Wow thats tarinas one rotated 90degrees
Oh, fr? I don't think I've ever seen hers before, I just played around with the placement of the trees and bushes to try and get as much natural hb buff as possible for a bit and ended up with this. It's so funny how people keep ending making the same or extremely similar layouts over time. I guess it makes sense though
why can I apply fertilizer to my single tiles seemingly infinitely?
You can place up to 99 fertiliser on a crop.
This means 99 clicks to max out the fertiliser on a single tile crop
2x2s use 4 fertiliser per growth tick, and also take 4 fertiliser per click of the mouse when applying fertiliser. This means 25 clicks are needed to max out the fertiliser
Apple trees (3x3) need 9 per growth tick, use 9 per mouse click applying fertiliser, so 11 clicks to max out.
Ahhh so you can "store" multiple fertilizers on a tile so you don't have to replace it on every harvest?
Precisely
that's handy
Just, it all has to be the same type of fertiliser.
If you try placing a different fertiliser, all fertiliser that was in the soil is returned to you inventory
hey again, I'm reading the wiki and it says that all of the crops (e.g. carrots, onions, cabbages) have a higher "value" in gold compared to their seed version. Am I missing something? why do I want to convert them to seed rather then selling the whole crop if it's worth less? the conversion rate is 1:1, isn't it?
woop nvm!
Thats such a good way of phrasing it and i had no idea you could do this
and why is bok choy the best crop for selling? doesn't it take an incredibly long time to turn it into seeds compared to most other crops (thus less money per hour)?
It grows the fastest, so you can harvest a lot and have lots of seeders going. That said, I do tend to pickle it and eat it, rather than turn it into seeds for money.
bok choy is considered the "gold" crop by us because 1 bok choy turns into 4 seeds (88g per bok choy) they grow in three growth tics (about 3 hours) and the seeders run while you are offline. so you can put down a field of bok choy with harvest boost, wait the three growth tics for it to be harvestable, put all of that into seeders and come back to it if you have to do other things in real world
I forgot about the number of seeds it produces. That's great compared to some plants!
Seeding is always more profitable than selling the crop raw. So is preserving the crop. Some crops just gain more from seeding, some gain more from preserving
Okay idk where else to ask this, but is it more profit to make and sell honey lures or sell gold bars and apple jams. (Time isn't a factor here)
I would say sell excess gold bars & apple jams. I'd keep your honey lures for bug hunting
However the gold bars go for about 750 ish gold, and the apples & moss go for less than 100 ish each, so the honey lure is technically worth more slightly than the standalone items since it goes for about 1k.
ty! my question wasnt about what i should do, but about what made me more profit lol. dw i checked it myself
what's the size of a seed stack?
bok choy takes 3 ticks to harvest, but my layout kinda revolves around crops growing at 6 ticks interval, so if I want to maximize my laziness, I could just gather everything every 6 ticks even if something has grown in the meantime... that being said, I'm trying go figure out if in this case bok choy is still better than carrots, given that it takes an 1.5 hours to seed vs like 20 mins
I like cabbages here because they grow in 6 ticks, so it's synced with apples
Was increased to 100 recently. Huge quality of life change tbh
Bok Choy will still be better than Carrots even accounting for only harvesting every 6 days. Almost twice as profitable. Carrots are best preserved rather than seeded btw
gotcha. thanks for lmk
that means I can run a seeder with bok choy almost indefinitely, as in it won't pause before 34 hours and 10 mins ✨
that's when it reaches a full seed stack if my math is right
oh and if I collect only so often, are potatoes still better than tomatoes?
I honestly am unsure what the time before stalling would be, but 34h seems low to me
Potatoes are going to be way better than tomatoes, and are better than cabbage even though cabbage grows in 6 days not 5
The benefit of tomatoes normally is that they regrow. If you aren't picking them at days 4,6,8,10 day, you really hurt their profit margin
the math was if 4 bok choy seeds take 1h 22 mins, that's 82 mins. a stack is 100, so you multiply by 25. that's 82*25 mins = 2050 mins, or 34 h 10 min
You can have 2 full stacks before it stalls
oh!
So 68h then
even better
But, if you put in a stack of 30 Bok Choy, it will finish that before stalling as that's 120 seeds
okay I think I'm all set then :) thx again ♥️ I'll reach gardening lvl 10 today for sure
too bad this layout I made with love won't ever make it in my plot lol... the one made by duh is objectively better
okay so one seeder will run for 41 hours before needing me to interact with it to replace the input
Remember that you need multiple Apples to make a Honey Lure, this essentially removes any profit you get from making and selling Honey Lures. Especially if you use starred apples as there is no starred Honey Lure.
Honey Lures, if used, can generate far more profit, due to the bugs and silk you can catch, but if you sell the Honey Lure, it's pretty worthless.
Most welcome!
yeah that screenshot didnt post for some reason- 4 star jams+ a gold bar is 1336 gold which is quite a bit more than lures sell for
Yup, you're also buffing the Lure's apparent sell price by 60 due to not including the Dragon Peat (unless that was included in the screenshot that didn't post)
for how i play currently dragon peat really doesnt count
For profit it kinda does though, as you could sell it on its own
Its okay, its making my plot
Im not really looking for most profit or anything like that, i just need the apples tbh, and im too lazy to go water them every single day
I dont even fully care about the weed prevention tbh, I just want them to grow without me having to baby sit it cause sometimes i forget to pay enough attention lol
it's apple time
so I'm guessing the first apple seed I'll be able to buy will be a regular one. once I harvest, if i use a quality up fertilizer, i will get starred apples. do starred crops always result in starred seeds when you convert them?
Starred crops always give starred seeds, yes. But starred seeds don't garantee 100% that you'll get starred crops until you're level 25 gardening, so you might want to continue buffing your crops until then. Starting at level 38 gardening (iirc) is when even regular seeds are guaranteed to give starred crops
thanks. should I use harvest boost or quality up on my apples until I reach 25?
Depends what you care about the most. Do you want more apples or do you want starred apples?
replace the weedblock plants with cotton or harvest boost plants and just pluck the weeds
just concerned about the money for now
if u replace all those weedblocks with cotton put hb on apples
uf replaced with 1 tile hb plants put quality up on the apples
True, especially if they still don't have the weed whacker achievement
gotto whack those weeds yaknow
Exactly
Hmmm I think I'll stick with regular quality then. I don't feel like weeding, and I guess I'll pass on the achievement...
Wait so can I stack unlimited harvest boost fertilizer on one plant and still multiply my rewards?
You can stack up to 99 fertiliser on a crop, and each in-game day 1 will be used up for each tile the crop sits on.
So not unlimited, no.
If harvest boost buff is present for every day that the crop is growing, you are guaranteed 50% higher yield. You can't get more bonus yield than this. It is either 50% bonus or no bonus.
The chance at getting the 50% bonus is just the percentage of in game days the crop has the buff for while growing
For example, an onion takes 4 days to grow.
If the harvest boost buff was present for 3 days, you have a 3/4 chance (75%) of getting the higher yield.
This is calculated for each crop individually, when you harvest it.
Make sense?
why are my apple tree soils displaced lmao
visual glitch, just water them and it will fix
Happens frequently when they cross soil plot boundaries, like these are. As Sylva said though, just visual. Watering/harvesting them or an adjacent crop will sort it out
What is fast. Food to do glow-worms
Does anyone have any of the xtra glowimg mushrooms from the halloween decore i could have i have plushies and other things plus pods willing to trade never got one so was looking to see if anyone would be willing to send me one
These are what im talking abouy ?
My in game name is missbonkersmomma
For fast glow worms you want high value foods.
If you go to cooking parties, bean burgers or fish dishes made from epic/legendary fish are good.
I tended to just recycle the fish I got from using those glow worms to make more though - grill any fish you would have sold and chuck them in the glow worm farms
Now, I get over 200 glow worms a day from just Ranching produce... But I need 11 Glow Worm Farms just to process all the produce I get
Maybe try #🤝│trading ?
these can't be traded they are decor items, not plushies, you can buy them from Ashura though for guild coins, as many times as you can afford.
does anyone have a plot with pumpkins i can look at? ive been trying to make a plot with pumpkins bc i find them cute lol
Hey! my farm is empty, im ready to do the 6 apple trees that auto does its thing, but i get confused with the fertilizer and where from the photos
lemme know if u need more explanation then the picture
Thank you!!!
question, for these setups, you you harvest the other crops and regrow them whenever theyre mature?
U could but personslly i just wait till cabbage is done or often not bother at all
bc i think replanting them too frequently gets annoying quick lol
After a hundred lvs u kinda stop caring xd
how does one get apples?
apple trees
which lvl?
9 or osmething
I have a question if anyone knows the answer. If you are level 25 gardening, do all of your crops become star quality regardless if you there are quality boosting crops or fertilizers?
wiht starred seeds yes
ur gardening lv gradually increases star chance
star seeds also has flat bonus
Heya, i play palia so long, but now i question myself... does the buffs from crops stack? i allways place weed/rice beside apple/blueberry, in my head its stack, but is it so? xD
no it either has harvest boost or it doesnt have it from its neighbours u dont get 2x harvestboost by overproviding it
okay well iam dumb 😄 ty 🙂
no becuz u asked
after playing it for 1 years and doing it so.. 😄
u were dumb not anymore XD
finally! my first apple harvest <3
btw, I know how I can fix this glitch now, but I'm not sure, how can I prevent it altogether?
happens they cross soil plot boundaries.
what does this mean?
when a crop is partially on two plots
If you layout your plots in a line I think you can get 7 trees iirc?
but you lose out on the buffs
i hope they buff the quantity of rockhopper pumpkins you get per harvest :(
With Duh's layout, you can't prevent it.
The only way to prevent it is to have an apple tree only on one soil plot
For example, the top left apple tree in Duh's layout is in columns 2 and 3 of the top left soil plot and column 1 of the top middle soil plot.
In order for it to not visually bug out, you need to either shift it one space to the left or 2 to the right.
However, doing so will lose you the ability to get all the buffs on them
The knapweed bug ruins that unles u use tons of fert
will a starred apple always turn into a starred apple jam or seed bag? if not, should I still use starred apples over regular ones?
what's that?
if uhave 9 weeds total stuff grows super glitchy if at all
So, you can't have more than 9 weeds in your garden.
For some people, this means they can have 9 weeds present and will never have to worry about more showing up ever again (as long as they don't accidentally pick the weeds).
However, it's also buggy. Lots of people who try to use this as a method end up having some plants LOSE growth progress sometimes (also throws the plants way out of sync)
the reason that u cant have more then 9 is the game cant save the gardens growth when trying to spawn more in ....
Yes. And it is best to use starred apple seeds for sure
but why would it not work to do a 3x27 field instead of 9x9? couldn't you do something like
R A A A P A A A ...
R A A A P A A A ...
P A A A R A A A ...
R = water retain crop
P = weed prevention crop
A = apples
allowing you to put down 7 apple trees maybe?
cuz that still only lands u 6 apples
You'd also end up needing to buy a bunch of weed/water fertilisers for the non-apples
Hmmm yeah
yeah I see now
^ this is how to get 6 apples trees without fert akf hb
wiht 6 tiles left but yeay glitches
btw how many glow worm farms do I need to place for having all the harvest boost fert I need?
i could do it with 1 for a long time but depends on how much growthticks ug et per day and what u chuck in the glowwormer
Ahh yeah that's true. but wait, do glow worms produce more fert depending on what you feed them?
oh yeay it also depends on whether u can run that wormer 24/7 or if it runs out of a item stack nonstop
grilled maws meme XD
vs random excess meat
output depends on the items gold value
huh I didn't know that... and iirc I need to feed them something that is NOT sweet if i want the HB
so maybe I could feed them vegetable preserves I make from my other crops
put in ur ranches excess eggs and milk
the meat u get from hunting
the mushrooms u wont ever use
the fish u got no use for can be grilled on the campfire do slect em th ough dont wanna grill ur maws unels its for flexing
i dislike that skill so much
yeah I'm so uninterested
btw TYSM @floral talon !!! I've just harvested my first set of apples and made so many <3 so ty for the layout and all other people around here in the channel for the help :)
i cannot take credit for the 6 apple layout as its to simple to claim pretty sure loads of poeple invented it at the same time
but happy ot help
I'm not going to comment on Ranching =3
u got ur own channel for that 😉
Indeed haha (also, with the depth I go into Ranching, a whole channel is almost needed...)
Did they nerf what harvest boost does to apples? I had 72 fertilizer & it only gave me 16 apples, normally gives me 24… it’s been working, but haven’t harvested since the update
I checked to make sure I did have harvest boost for sure on again after & I did.
was the fertilizer on the apple at every growth tic? unless you encountered a glitch, fert needs to be present at every stage to be 100% effective
I keep 99 on my apple trees obsessively
It’s the only thing I care about being fertilized 🥹
I’ll continue to monitor after this next harvest cycle & see to make 100 percent sure.
probably a glitch then. it's the reason that i don't bother with fertilizers and let the crop buffs do everything for me
I don't mind having to use fertilizers every so often... I typically put 99 of the needed type on just those 12 tiles
besides, I mass produce hb, so...
I’ve got so many with my bean burgies lol
is there a formula that shows how many glow worms and HB fert you get from feeding an item with a value X into the farm?
nvm I think I foudn it
I was doing some math to figure out what crops are better sold as seeds and which ones I should turn into preserves. but the outcome is not what I expected. I knew that bok choy is the best seed to sell for gold, but here my spreadsheet suggests that onions are almost 2.5x as good
can you spot anything weird?
ah I think I found it hold on
okay no, this is even worse
this is making bok choy look like the worse crop to sell as a seed... what's going on? the previous pic was incorrect because the production time column was wrong
basically the result is that if you have 10 apples, you can turn those into 1 seed after 142 mins and sell it at 1050. that's 7.4 gold per minute.
bok choy, if you have 10 you can turn them into 40 seeds after 3280 minutes and sell them at 880. that's only 0.27 gold per minute...
what am I missing?
or is that to be expected? is the standard calculation that proves that bok choy is the best based on how many you can harvest in your 9x9 soil, as opposed to apples?
and btw it's also telling me that apples are better off sold as seeds, while all other crops in my layout are much more valuable as preserves...
take a look at the file if you want. I'm confused.
apple seeds - 10 apples to 1 seed is 1050g (starred), 10 apples to 10 preserves is 1440g (starred). you need to keep in mind that the seeders and preserve jars run while you are offline while your crops only go one stage when offline, and apparently with the new update the stacks are bigger now so those same seeders/preserve jars can run longer.
this is true, but you can see in the file that I've calculated not only the final production value, but the production value per minute. it's 7.4 gold per minute (seeds) vs 1.9 (jam)
and IIRC both preservers and seed makers can take 30 apples at most as input? right?
so if you put them (30) in the seed collector, it would be done producing 3 seeds in 7 hours, 6 mins, for a starred value of 3150 in total. If you put them in the preserver to make 30 jams, you would end up getting 4320 gold total, which is more, true, but it would take 38 hours!!
Again, if my math is right, Jam becomes more profitable to sell than seeds only if you collect and sell less often than every 27.7 hours
Yes, Profit per hour is different to profit per in-game day.
This would matter if you were playing 24/7. Also if you haven't unlocked many crafters yet.
But the moment you log off and crafters start to catch up, profit per hour is less important. Because if the crafters ever run out of things to process, that means you've started to lose money.
And considering you can have to to 30 crafters, you can have multiple seeders working on the same crop.
my assumption was that we collect more often than every 27.7 hours
So you're assuming how many growth ticks per day?
Because working out how long something runs for means little if you don't produce that much on the first place
The majority of players are offline enough during a day for a good number of crafters to catch up to them, even going the highest total profit route (which as you say, is less time efficient)
True, but i don't think that's entirely correct. Again, if you only collect every 27.7 hours, you're still limited to placing 30 apples in each of those crafters, regardless. Right?
I haven't tested it personally, so I'm not sure how many cycles in a day my apple harvest allows me to do
There's at least 6 hours between collecting a batch of apples, 12 for the first harvest
They grow slowly
But yes, they do need a lot of preserve jars
I see your point. if you don't play enough, you're gonna be short on apples, so you might prefer jam because given enough time it ends up netting more.
i run 4 apple trees, with harvest boost i get 96 apples per harvest, i place as many as i can in the preserve jars and let them run, then top them off at each harvest with more apples.
can you guys confirm 30 is the max you can fit in both of those crafters?
The layout you are using doesn't really need that many other crafters though, so you can afford to go heavy on the preserve jars.
Optimising your Gardening profit is essentially a balance between how much you play, how many crafter slots you have to play with and the layout you go for.
It's generally easiest to just say 'this is generally what will make you the most profit '
Yes
okay I see. I've been playing a lot in the past few days, so I hadn't considered being offline being so detrimental towards the growth rate of the apples
I wouldn't see it that way.
Your offline time allows your crafters to maximise the profit you get from your online time
yes, if it takes you 2 real life weeks to do 12 growth ticks, then jam is probably better
counter point: you don't maximize the profit of the crafters by being offline. it just doesn't require you to be online
I previously calculated that you could get something like 6-10 hours of playtime a day with even Bok Choy and Beans (this was when Beans were king of maximum profit but very long processing time, just after they got introduced), and still be able to process it all.
From memory, Apples aren't as bad as Bok Choy for processing requirements, and Bok Choy is better than Beans used to be too.
So you should be able to manage a fair amount of playtime and still process everything
As Apples have a long 12 growth tick period with no growth, you may need to store some of the apples and process them later, but that's the benefit of having storage
Anyway, bedtime for me. Hope what I've said helps a bit
Good luck working out how you want to set up your crafters
having more apples than I can process sounds like a dream lol
It’s absolutely a glitch, it’s doing the same thing 💀 where do I need to report that
!support
Here's a link to the Player Support: http://support.palia.com/
speaking of bok choy, wasn't that crop supposed to net more gold when sold as seeds rather than preserve?
even if we don't consider yield per hour and stick to the total amount of gold on final collection, I'm fidning that 30 bok choy turn into 2640 gold as seeds, or 2010 as preserves. it's pretty close
however, seeds take around 10x as much to make. but probably not an issue since I don't get to harvest a lot of it
onion seems to be the only instance of preserves netting more gold than seeds, regardless of time. 1800 vs 2010. sound about right? napa cabbage is exactly as valuable in the form of 180 seeds or 30 preserves.
go on ask ur question
what question?
oh u just wanted to say that got it
just trying to double check with you guys that the assumption is correct
wait a second since seed stacks increased now
it could be more convenient to seed the equally valueble jarred as seeded so u dont have to partial run one for reseed/swap it out wiht jars nonstop
now I'll calculate if turning preserves to fertilizer becomes more valuable for selling than the other two options, I guess
yes now if only someone could teach me spreadsheets next year when i finally got the time for it i shoudl really make a nice what to proces stuff into sheet ...
it's extremely easy, you can learn it in 5 minutes. you don't have to know coding or anything
must be the problem that i do know coding 😉
you can also use free softwares like LibreOffice Calc or OpenOffice (better), so you don't necessarily have to pay for Excel
think google sheets cuz u can share it easier but for now i got enuff projects on my todo list XD
if I understand this correctly, then yeah I would assume this would be better
it should just save you some time
yeay i mean in before it was like it stalls out super fast
but now it could last longer idk havent remathed it
or it could be seed is slower or faster now which i dont know
it takes 164 real life hours to turn 30 bok choy into 120 bok choy seeds, using a single crafter
sucha big difference in before u could only chuck 15 in or it would stall XD
what's the new output capacity now?
max amount of seeds produced that can stay inside the machine before it jams?
200 or something sinc estack size is 100?
ah cool. so yeah you'll never overencumber it for sure
idk if the bonus unstarred seeds wil clog it faster
well, it takes 164 hours to get 120 seeds. so to get 100 it's almost 150 hours still.
that's a loooot of time
my plan is to sell the seeds of my crops, but keep some crops to make preserves, which will be fed to glow worms to make sustainable fertilizer
wormers do have this round oputput up or down thing so it oculd be unprofitable but u would have to look it up
and wormers are SOOOOO SLOW!!!
yes, I know the formula now, so I have to find the best crop for it now
how many slots do glow worm farms have? 4? can't remember, can't play rn
specifically, the output slots
hey guys look...
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cDsOxSJSkODSEimSEZmmos2_5hOGJ1Typ4tXutjBI9I/htmlview
looks like worm farms are better than glow worm farms for gold?! this could be huge @floral talon
yeay they do on some items but they do stall faster
and i personally dont wanna bother thinking about which wormer i put my trash items into XD
i dont worm gardening stuff though
right, it stalls faster
The gardening system is so much more involved than I realized xD
I’m still having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that bok Choi is better than tomatoes haha
Same. I also love the convenience of not having to reseed as often with tomatoes 🍅
I realized right after making that comment that it takes three tomatoes to make two seeds xD
Any of yalls have a good farm layout with blueberries and peppers with full afk ?
Hello! I've not peppers, apples and blueberries yet.
I'm searching a layout that requests the less possible interaction to make a bit of money.
Someone have some or have tips? Thank you
hi, I've been using this for quite a while, depends how much of which crops you want.. you can ofc put beans/pepper/pumpkin instead of the blueberries and you can use tomatoes and cabbage or potatoes
This is the one I used when I first got started
No water/weeding at all
Plus it gives a nice bit of rice for sashimi parties
@coarse tartan @pure atlas thank you both i will try them.
An other newbie question.
The 3xe terrains must be attached so it will became a big 9c9? Or could have a bit of distance and they work the same?
They gotta touch to get the full effect, sadly
It’s why there’s no spaces in the gardening planner,to maximize buffs
I have them separately now. but before I had that layout. I'm not on rn, but when I am I can take a screenshot and send you my current layout
@floral talon @supple stone I'm happy to tell you I may have just found a new meta for farming gold via gardening
TL;DR: don't stop at producing apple jam. put all of your apple jam into glow worm farms and sell fert + glow worms
it only takes 10 more hours if you use 3 glow worm farms per apple stack, or probably ≥ 2 days if you use 1 and keep emptying it
I wouldn't say that's a new meta.
I'll explain why when I have more time
as in it's not new or it's not meta?
kaelyr wanna know the extremely high money meta?
mining and cooking?
no mining is for star stones and kitsuu plush
cooking mawshimi $_$
bring rice and up to 480k coins per hour
oh yeah I dont really find cooking very fun though... plus that's active money making. I was looking for a passive income via gardening
you can still do both
well u need to garden rice for it XD
well my point is if u put in alot of effort to squeeze more out of ur garden u hit a point where attending one mawshimi party can justify beign lazy with gardening for hte rest of the year
yeah I guess that's true...
it mostly ends up that way cuz dimishing returns on gardening per effort
Both.
Worming preserves is a known strategy, it's just not generally worth the crafter slot.
You might gain an extra 20g per preserve if you worm them (some it's a little less, some it's a little more). Glow worming tends to be worse than that. Apple jams gain 15g when glow wormed.
If you buy Mountain Morels from Zeki and Glow worm them, you gain 18g for glow worming them. Get them through foraging, it's 29g profit for glow worming.
If you get a bunch of cheap 9g mushrooms from the EW and glow worm those, that's 31g profit.
So yeah, not really worth glow worming the preserves imo
The exception is when you really don't want to do anything except garden, then you might want to squeeze extra profit out of your crops. But at that point, why not put more Bok Choy in and get extra profit that way?
Most seeding/preserve options gain you 35-40g per hour of crafter time, for reference (if you use the more optimal of the two for that crop)
The other crafters tend to be better (but you need to actively go out and gather the mats to put in them)
Also, worming Apple Jam can't be considered meta as Apples are very mediocre for profit. They're convenient, but that's not what meta refers to. Meta means 'Most Effective Tactic Available'
Which, for gardening, is pure Bok Choy farms.
Bok Choy sold raw is only 10% less profitable than Apples preserved, from a gold per space per growth tick perspective. You generally won't sell much raw, but that should give an idea of just how profitable Bok Choy is. Even it's worst option is almost equal with Apples best processing option.
For efficiency, get more buffs in. Tomatoes give the water retaining buff, just not to other tomatoes. If you made each tomato have at least one potato next to it, they'd all be water retaining, meaning you only need to water when you first plant the seed (or if you miss a harvest day). You can also get quality, yield and weed buffs too.
It's possible to have a layout where everything except the corners has 3 buffs on it.
For value...tomatoes aren't bad, but I hope that's harvest boost or quality up fertiliser? I personally don't care much for quality up, but early on it is as good as harvest boost fertiliser (you just don't have very good choices of crops that give it as a buff). Harvest boost means an extra 50% yield, which is absolutely excellent.
Water/weed buffs also help if you don't make it back to the farm while questing or doing a different activity, which if you otherwise would have missed watering/weeding the garden, can equate to more profit
I also wrote this post a while back, which still has useful info in it: #🌱│gardening message
That help at all?
Thank you so much and yes it does help a bunch !!! I was really wondering if I had to put other veggies next to my tomatoes and if the veggies had affinities with others that I wasn't uware of
welcome to this channel
Water buff - Tomatoes, Potatoes and Napa Cabbage
Weed buff - Bok Choy, Carrots and Onions
Harvest Boost - Rice, Wheat, Corn, Blueberries, Beans and Apples
Quality Up - Cotton, Spicy Pepper and Pumpkins
It's helpful to have 2 different crops from the same buff type next to each other so both get the buff
Bear in mind that 2x2 crops need 2 tiles of an adjacent crop with a particular buff in order to get that buff (for example, to give Blueberries Harvest Boost, it would need 2 Rice, Wheat or Corn in the 8 tiles around it - or 1 Bean crop, as long as the Beans had 2 adjacent tiles)
(And 3x3s, ie Apple trees need 3 tiles of the buff in order for it to activate)
Oh well I still don't have apples yet so I guess I will be sticking to "beginner's veggies"
This is the set up I use, which was pioneered by my Dad. I add Speed Grow fertilizer during the growth period of the apple tree so it starts giving fruit sooner, but otherwise, this is exactly what I use. It nets me plenty of crops on the daily so long as I make sure to keep up on the seed stock.
If you don't have apples yet, you can use the center plot to stock up on wheat, rice and/or cotton, as you will need a lot of those for different recipes down the line!
@fleet parcel this is my setup rn. I might put blueberries to the apple trees instead because I found out that way both will still have full water retain. then have more space on those 3x3 and use them for more pumpkins or smth else (for example full cotton for fabric making)
also the 'middle' one is rn just for full rice/wheat/bok choy, but yea, that one needs watering.
anyone else having this visual glitch?
why do my berry bushes have nothing despite being around all of these?
the 2x2 crops need two of the same buff in order to get said buff. so you would need two water retain crops touching the blueberry in order to get the water retain buff
apples are the same way but need three of the same buff to get the benefit
ah... dang it
okay genuine question - am i using fertilizer wrong?
i'll put it on my crops and a day later all of it's gone and when I hit examine, there's no fertilizer on them... am i missing something? i'm so confused haha
The garden uses one fertilizer per square per in-game day. So for example a carrot or any single tile crop will use one fertilizer per day, a blueberry bush will use 4, an apple tree 9.
You can place up to 99 fertilizer on each crop so that you do not have to add fertilizer each day.
oh my goodness thank you so much
i'm not sure if the game told me that at the start but i have a genuinely awful memory so thank you so much for explaining !!
does anyone know if theres a way to make smth to fill my watering can so i dont have to runn aoll the way across my plot
There is a well available in the gardening guild store, but it's 1120 coins I think, so quite a grind!
oh thx. i was gonna try and use the fountains you can craft, but i havent cashed in all my coins so i shouldnt have to grind for long
I’m looking to change my garden to a more high yield/income layout, what is everyone’s favourite crops for this? Is it just tomatoes everywhere and water and weed a lot?
Anyone have a good layout for blueberries and hot peppers fully afk?
I deliberately saved up for that! It's made my life so much easier! I also have my worm bins, seed makers, and one chest all nearby for easy access!
What is the best crop to grow? I grow a mix of things so I can make food, but in terms of best sell price as thats my primary way of making money since I enjoy gardening, what are some of the best ones to grow?
Pumpkins. Can them for maximum value
Here you go. Someone else dropped this last week
I didnt even know you could preserve things
I played the game in beta then stopped playing for ages then played again then stopped playing for ages, so just started playing recently again so a lot of new things i am unaware of
The game's still in Beta, tbh
But thank you for the info this is very helpful
You're welcome. Have fun
Oh wait, I just remembered! Apple is a close second in price, but you get more per harvest. I'd recommend canning both of those.
Pumpkins are the very worst crop to grow for profit, even if you can then for maximum value. The yield is too low compared to other crops for the high individual sell price to be able to compensate
And apples are middle of the road for profit
When you consider the money made per tile per day of growth, nothing comes close to Bok Choy.
The image shared by Revas talks more about which of the crafters is more efficient for each crop.
There's a table in this post that shows the ranking of different crops if you are able to process everything with no backlog before the next harvest (for most players who don't play a ton, this is manageable) - #🌱│gardening message
If you can't process everything without backlog, then the image Revas shared becomes relevant
For pure profit, nothing beats Bok Choy. However, I'm too lazy to deal with pure profit setups (full try-hard Bok Choy needs harvesting every 3 growth ticks, needs a ton of crafters and a ton of fertiliser, with manual watering and weeding).
In the link I just posted above, there's another link to compilations of various layouts including profit-oriented layouts that are mostly water/weed proof
This is an unusual request. How many blueberries and spicy peppers are you looking for?
And for what purpose?
For stocking up for cooking parties maybe? They're both rather low value crops for processing yourself otherwise
Still, if you just like the look of the crops, that's totally ok.
#🌱│gardening message
Switch the blueberries and beans around
Replace 1-2 of the outer 2x2s with peppers (some harvest boost fertiliser will be needed next to them)
So that would be 1-2 peppers and 6-7 blueberries
Though if you went for 2 peppers, you could fit in 7 blueberries actually - just rather than having 4 beans in the middle, 3 beans and 1 blueberries, then have the outer crops be 6 blueberries and the 2 that connect to the inner blueberries would be peppers
Does that make sense?
Could I have a visual if possible
Maybe when I'm at my PC, it's essentially just the layout I linked to but you swap around the 2x2s
Not a fan of doing layouts on mobile, just takes way longer
Yeah, I didn't consider crop yields until after I said it 😅 I was going purely by that chart someone else made.
I appreciate you weighing in.

6 Blueberries, 2 Peppers. Needs 13 Fertiliser per day.
Though I still wonder why you'd need so many Blueberries.
If you're hosting Cake Parties, you need Blueberries to start the recipe, but these layouts would produce far too many Blueberries for you to use via hosting.
If you are attending Cake Parties, generally hosts ask that you bring Apples for the frosting as that increases the profit that everyone gets. Even for other recipes, not sure you'll ever get through so many blueberries
A fan-made tool for planning out your garden. Displays crop and fertiliser bonuses, approximates harvest yield, and provides shareable save codes!
I hit gardening level 10! I have four apple seeds.. what's the best layout for profit? I mostly do preserves and seeds, some cooking for glow worm farms
This one is pretty good but it does require tending. I like no water no weeding but personal preference
Also depends if you need quality up as well
Thank you! I mostly care for water retain as I'm away often, and quality up. Harvest increase and weeding is a plus but not as necessary as I have fert for harvest or quality 💖
Do you want to grow the apples, or are you just looking for optimal money? Apples are convenient crops, but they are not the most profitable
I think I want them mostly for preserves and possibly pies when it get the recipe, for selling and glow worms!
There are better options for glow worms in general, but it is a convenient source of them.
Follow the links in this post to the afk/everything garden compilations, both have lots of full water/weed coverage with apples
#🌱│gardening message
this layout the bushes and trees are afk. you can swap out the blueberries for beans as both give the harvest boost buff, but beans are worth a bit more in gold. if you only harvest the apples and blue/beans then you can ignore the rest of the crops unless you want the aesthetic of the grown crop (or you want to harvest them)
Excellent thank you!
What would you say is best for glowworms? Thank you!
Depends. Do you want fast glow worms, low effort glow worms or high profit glow worms?
If you want glow worms quickly, as the number you get depends on the value of the item put in, you want high value items. Foods from profit-based cooking parties or grilled fish work well for this.
If you want lower effort, then if you use the glow worms for fishing, using the fish you would otherwise sell to grill and glow worm is essentially recycling the fish. If you Ranch, the stuff you get from the animals is slow but reliable glow worms (and tends to be good profit if you were to sell it). Of course, using jams is still a low effort option.
For maximal profit if you want to sell the glow worms, animal produce, cheap forage or meats/shrooms from hunting
im working on a improvement
I'm a mostly solo player and I'm wanting to use the worms to fish and sell the fish/grill em etc. I usually give my eggs to my reg worms.
Thank you so much to lay it out like this; it helps a lot
Eggs are much better glow wormed - 40g worth of stuff glow wormed, but 30g when wormed
Honestly, I would suggest trying to put the fish you get from using the glow worms in the glow worm farm (after grilling), see how that suits you (used to be what I did when I actually fished much - now I kinda just Ranch and Garden)
Thank you 🥹 Ill give it a shot! reg worms just excess forage?
Anything low cost (maybe <60g? ish?) is better glow wormed. Anything higher cost is almost always better wormed, but due to rounding there are a few exceptions.
Thank you 🙂
Actually, Brightshroom is best wormed, so maybe I should say anything <50g or so
Oh really I thought those were best glow wormed! Okay
@clear kindle ?
What was that six apple trees afk all buffed x3 layout?
What do i do with skill medals? I just got level 10 in gardening and am now getting skill medals
Whatever you want. I personally recommend the well as you can draw water from it. One of the few skill medal decors that actually had a function
A well would be very nice, where would I find the place to purchase the things?
Badruu's guild shop
The well is expensive, will take some time to save up for it
Alright thank you, I do farming a lot so that works for me, I get it being expensive.
And to be clear, the guild store is when you speak to Badruu, not his veggie shop on the farm
Alright thank you very much
Not sure if I should put this question in here or in fishing. What's good to put in the worm bin?
I use bean burgers
Anything really. Higher the value, higher the number of worms and fertiliser you get out.
If you mean glow worms, #🌱│gardening message
Im fairly early game still.
I was always a fan of grilling whatever fish I found for my worm farms early game
Exces fish grilled exces foragables and meats
any idea how to fix this
u cant
Hi! Just wanted an opinion on my layouts. I’m trying to maximize profit and also have enough excess crop to save for cooking so I want to try to grow everything. I set it up as single plot layout (not all 9 connected) because I play on switch and it’s kind of hard to not mess up when trying to see the plots😅 First one is a common recommendation from online but I tried just throwing the last two together myself. I plan on applying fertilizer as well and I’m not too focused on weed prevention or water retention.
I also just unlocked the preservers and have 5 or 6ish seed collection on my plot rn!
If that help with opinions or ideas
do u intend to only use one soil or use seperated soils for deccorative reasons?
I’m using all 9 soils but just not connected as one big one, because it’s easier on my eyes until I can get it on pc
If that makes sense😭
would a ez on the eye 9 soil layout laso work?
its looking quiet decent btw
It could. My issue was I did this bokchoy/rice/wheat layout I saw on YouTube and messed up so bad because of how scattered everything was and the mechanics of the switch didn’t help because they aren’t the best
Thanks!
What’s with the garden planner money system? I have a layout but my yield isn’t anywhere close to the number it spit out for me:(
Sorry if this has already been asked, I tried looking through old messages but couldn’t find what I needed
show layout plz
Sorry, wrong button xD
I’m using starred seeds for about 80% of these and still not making the same amounts
it has the total listed production for 60 growthticks
of constant replanting when something is done
Right, that’s what I do too!
also thats a outdated layout we got way better ones now
Ooo I’d love some help getting an updated layout going!!
ok lets start with understanding hte layout makers buttons
as that was what u were orignally asking about
and uhm i pposted the best 2 low level layouts a few messages above already in picture form wiht links even
I basically just want to make a bunch of money off of selling produce xD
I’ll take a look at those, thank you so much
u need these settings to have the easiest time comparing layouts
Dang I did not realize the planner had that much detail in it, that’s so cool
ok so a growthtick which the layoutmaker thing calls per day on older scrnshots
is when ur online at 0600 palian time and one time after at 0600 after logging of
so if u log in at 0559 u probs have to harvest replant super fast XD
cuz stuff dont grow whne harvestable
but if u log at 0559 and nothing was harvestable from ur offline tick and then logout at 0600
a growhttick passes and u then get the offline tick if u dont login before hte next time its 0600
making sure u didnt th ink u were getting rowths in when u werent as they are not 24/7 realtime growing
Oh geez so make sure to harvest before 6 then
No bok Choi? I thought that was a good one for sales
unfortunately, it seems that you can't prevent this glitch from happening right now. it happens when a crop is placed between multiple 3x3 soils. you can only temporarily "fix" it by watering the crop
fertilizer should work too
I have one with 5 apples and 4 blueberries. this was from when I didn't know cabbages were better than tomatoes
it's good, but with my layout, you don't need to worry about fertilizer at all, especially if you just want to harvest the apples and blue/beans. so it doesn't cut into your profits to have to buy so much weed block
didn't realize yours was based on not caring about non-apples/berries.
yeah, it's a good layout if you are doing a lot of cake parties (as you need blueberries to start and apples to get the highest out of it), but i've always enjoyed doing other things than babysitting my garden every hour. so after i get the aesthetic of the grown crops in my garden, i just forget them for the bushes/apples
And replant and water and pluckweeds
U dont need its buff as much and u dont have the crafters to proces it wel anyways
I also made a 5blueberry 4 apple one with little fert even without fert it dhould be more jam then the 4 and 4 one
I noticed a lot of people's layouts don't include peppers. Im guessing there is a reason. What is it?
there buff is useless at higher lvs and then that makes getting the afk + harvest boost perks harder to put in the layout
2x2s are super difficult to place welll into layout making the layout way more complicated
peppers are poor money
pepeprs do have a use in some dishes but most poeple go to a large cooking party anyways(if they even bother to keep their focus bar up) so even if something does take peppers u basically only need one person to bring any
Ok.
i mean if u do need a peppers i can help make alayout for that in alot of hours
most poeple dont need many and maybe run one plant at a time in a subsection for their regular layout to stock up
I figured I would plant them for now until I start getting more blueberries and then later apples.
Also are there certain foods recommended for livestock?
I would personally recommend jarred veggies as cooking for ur animals will take alot of work
Some of these layout charts look like sudoku boards especially with crops alternated.
they are very simple onmce u realise that each buff type crop needs a buddy tog et its own buff
hey yall. found this online for best way to lay out the garden for minimal watering/weeding. however this layout involves crops maturing at different times, so people said they prefer to plant one crop (i.e., onion) at a time in the "gaps." im still new to palia and gardening so was wondering what they mean by the gaps? im assuming they means crops that dont provide some benefit (i.e., cross watering)?
i got no clue what they mean by it either
Hi I got suggested to come here, I am a little confused with farming. When this picture shows this value of gold. If that for fully harvesting everything and selling in the shipping bin or do I have to make jams and preserves? I have this exact layout and dont seem to be making anywhere near this value?
I dont understand the growth cycles and everything. Once I fully harvest every plant and replant all, I havent made anywhere near 194441
so, for starters, you see where it says 90 growth tics? the total is for that number, selling just raw crops (as the layout does not show any seeds/jars in the produce section) so in other words after 90 growth tics (1 palia day/hour) that is the grand total you would have made just harvesting and selling the crops raw. it is always recommended to process the crops into either seeds or preserve jars depending on the crop though it looks like most of this layout would be better put into jars for processing. remember though, crops only grow 1 stage while you are offline and then stop growing until the next time you log in
Why do we measure in 90 ticks?
i believe it's because it gives a more accurate total as all the crops are counted for all of the harvest that they can provide, along side replanting.
so 90 ticks is 1 palia day?
not making anyway near that gold
or 1 tick 1 palia day
1 tick is 1 palia day (6am is when the garden updates itself in game), which is 1 hour. again when you are offline, the garden grows 1 more stage (1 growth tic) then stops
Trtying to find a full water retain and weed prevention without the need of fertilisers.
I think this is one of the best options, but it only uses single tile crops #🌱│gardening message
Once you start putting in the larger crops, it becomes more difficult to juggle all of the buffs (would be easier if you didn't care about Harvest Boost), but equally, I can't really give other suggestions until you give more info about what you would be looking for in the layout
can someone eli5 why some of my plants with water retain retain water and others dont?
which plants dont? show scrnshot or something for context
Apples retain but blueberries don't. They all have boosts from plants around them
do the blueberrys have 2 water retain plants next to them?
if htey are harvestable and a growthtick passes they will get unwatered
Idk if that's just how it works never paid attention to it
It's sylvas layout I just alternate beans and blueberries depending what I need
2x2s need to border 2 tiles to something of a bufftype to get that buff
additionally when harvestable and a growthtick passes all plants will unwater themselves
Ah oki thanks
Then why don't I have to water apples
the unwatering is only annoying on multyharvest plants though u dont notice on once and done plants or when its their final harvest anyways
Do apples not unwater themselves
Cause I harvest blueberries and apples and I only have to water blueberries xd
not if water retained usually
but blues and apples dont have the same harvest times
Oki
also i made a better sylvas layout >:D
The one with 5 2x2 or something? I saw that recently
still have to slightly tweak it so u can grow a few extra crops afk
well in hindsight i have to fix the thing
I have a bunch of starred apple preserves and a few apple pies.. Idk a good balance between selling or giving to worms. What do you think?
I mostly plan to sell worms. Im hating fishing lmao
I'll fish enough to make grilled fish but that's about it
Worm with exces crafter capacity not sure of starred jam is wormed for profit though it will give quality up
Can also worm exces meats and mushrooms
Thank ya, I heard at some point in gardening I wont need quality up as much since starred crops will be more likely, yes?
and do only sweet foodsd give quality up?
Sweet quality up
Savory harvestboost
+2%point chance of starred per gardening lv
Lv25 starred seeds no unstar
Lv38 unstar seeds no unstar
anyone have a quick link to like the best apple farming set up? i dont like farming so ima just do it to make apples for lures, so anything w the most apple profit/ self water is nice
GUYS I FINISHED A NEW LAYOUT!!!!
@clear kindle u specifically might be very interested in it
I need a layout for just getting blueberries. Anyone have ideas or recommendations?
Hi, have the pleasure to show you an greatest layout for your garden !
thats a surprisingly good one actually
