Quite! I typically don't bother too much with making it the most effective, I usually want it to be aesthetically pleasing, but also yield a good coin in the end And to have a variety of ingredients for cooking too. Quite a brain exercise

Just harvest boost always and some water retain is all ya need for most plant combos also full weedblock waterretain is kunda useles if ur crops have to many different harvest times cuz it aint 0 effort if u end up harvesting every growthtick anyways

Yeah, gotta say the different harvest speeds tend to throw me off a bit But I try to not pay it much mind, for me it's an effort to not be playing meta, otherwise the game becomes a chore for me Still it's lots of fun and feels super rewarding

I hope when we get a new map, we get lots of new crops to plant and harvest. Maybe certain types of mushrooms, like shiitake or enoki. More fruit trees, crossing my fingers for lemons

Since you can buy seasonal cocktails now, it would be cool to be able to mix your own cocktails eventually

I wish we could have decorative crops. I dont think we'd be getting more soil slots without having all the prices go up, so it'd be nice to have some fake crops and trees to build a farm house

I already have a full inventory with one of each seed to determine the drop. If it is a flow seed, it should show I am not able to loot. If it is a normal seed, it will show the option to loot.

I just wasn't sure with the new update if anyone had success getting this to work.

less apple trees, no blueberries but fully water and weed protected and minimum harvest boost fertilizer, if you need to harvest everything (i just harvest apples and leave everything else in the ground)

it's a great layout, what can i say. it's completely water retained so i don't have to come back every hour or two to water it, i don't have to worry about weeds being hidden because of the apple tree trunks, and it's harvest boosted so i don't have to worry about any fertilizers or bugs where i lose fert. i recently have picked up the hobby of diamond painting and i can leave palia open on my switch and completely afk with just a bit of movement from the joystick while i work on a painting. it's great

People ask, it doesn't matter whether you make seeds to sell crops or make them into jars, right? I did the math and they give me the same values.

guess it depends on how you look at it as far as time goes, potatoes for example give 80 gold for seeds vs only 68 gold for pickled, but when you take in crafting time it takes 1h24m to turn 1 potato into 4 seeds vs 54m for preserve jars

the numbers i gave are for regular potatoes, if we are talking about star potatoes (which eventually everyone will have regardless) you are looking at prices of 102 for pickled vs 120 for seeds

I'm going to guess it has to do with whether you've published a plot or not. Trees count towards the limit in all plots so that's probably why they're broken even though they could be in a different plot than the one you published

I only had 1 flow tree counting all plots and that one is borked but crops behave well. Haven't checked if not receiving XP, though. I just replanted everything this morning because some crops had drifted.

does anyone having issues with flow trees since the patch update. I had 20 flow trees with seeds I couldn't collect due to the bug. Now, they are fully grown and the F is gone so no seeds... I found a solution 🥳 Putting the tree in and out of inventory does not work. But putting it in inventory, wait after 6:00 AM and then get it back out does fix it. I got my seeds 🙂

It was very specifix. Flow trees that were on their last cycle fully matured just after Tuesday update without needed to water. My smaller flow trees that needed watering got fixed by the hotfix.

the problem lies not in that 9weeds prevent all crops from growing but rather that they do grow but it isnt saved correctly causing it to keep being reverted to the previous growth cycle

Does anyone else have any tips on something? For a while I had a fertilizer glitch where the fertilizer I placed would never go away. Not just visually, but physically would never go away. For a while all crops I harvest have been star quality, which wouldn't be a problem except I never get regular quality anymore to use for things like filling requests, cooking, etc. I thought it was a mix of using the star quality seeds, how I had my crops set up, and the fertilizer glitch so I picked up all my crop beds and placed them down again. I've been using normal seeds, one type of crop for the whole plot, no fertilizer or any crops that boost quality, yet I'm still only getting star quality. Maybe I'm weird for wanting regular crops and complaining about this but I'm so sick of only star quality crops. Is this a bug? Some kind of weird gardening buff due to being a high-ish level or something? I'd try posting a bug report but I don't know how I'd categorize this or even show evidence of it happening since growing the crop takes time and a screenshot doesn't convey that well enough, and a recording would either be too long or have to be trimmed.

once you are a high level you will always get star crops. u can buy non star crops (not every kind) at badruu's stall. u can also req non starred crops. i honestly dont know why they did this but it's not a bug

...I'm sad now. I prefer to be as self-sufficient as possible in games like this, but I'll admit I'm glad it's not a bug at least. I still wish that it didn't force that kind of thing, though. I'd rather that regardless of level you get star quality crops if you put the right crops together or maybe you just get a boost in the chance to get star quality rather than it be a guarantee.

cooking with star ingredients gives a higher chance of getting star foods. you can choose to use star quality crops

and it makes since about getting star crops from regular seeds as you get a higher level, because you "have experience" growing things, just like people with prize winning plants irl. they didn't start with the prize plants, but eventually they learned where the plants flourished better, what fertilizers worked best and how/when to water them

and another thing, once you are at a higher level and have been playing the game, most people figure out what crops they will need for cooking their focus foods, and will start just growing those crops, or they will just focus on a money garden layout

See I’m weird. I like growing a little of everything. I don’t want to have only star quality crops or cook using only star ingredients. I know it’s a weird complaint, but it’s just something I don’t like or want. And I get the logic, but there’s also some circumstances where no matter what you do, a crop may not grow right or something might happen to it either due to an event that you can’t change or something else. I dunno, I’d just prefer a higher chance rather than a full guarantee. That way if I don’t want star quality, it’s my choice

I don’t play with those kind of thoughts in mind. I don’t try to “do the most for money” or “only grow these foods for the focus recipe I want”. I just…play and go with the flow. I’m just not that kind of player and that’s not how I like playing the game

I like this chart that I found on Pinterest (lol) but it’s missing newer crops (bok choy, napa cabbage)

bok choy and napa cabbage should be preserved. the pricier cash crops (peppers, blueberries, apples) should be sold as seeds (but take care to keep some on hand, especially with apples).

I think almost everything else except for cotton is worth more if preserved. (cotton being the one crop that should be sold as crop)

tldr: it about planting mostly bokchoy and rice/wheat to boost bokchoy yields - turn as much bokchoy to preserve and sell the rest. bokchoy seems to get you the most money even compared to apple berries.

If you just got the seed that means you're gardening 10-12. This is really good, gives you tons of XP to get to gardening 25. then you can stop using the cotton and replace with weed block or water buff.

You can try to buy the seeds from Badruu or do a Dayia Family quest. I don't know who it was, possibly Badruu or Dalia.

The use Speedgro fertiliser and water retaining crops like tomatoes, potatoes, napa cabbage nearby so they keep growing.

u do know tomatoes are actually a terrible plant right and that ur not getting every plant a buddy so it gets their own buff

problem with tomatoes is they be alot of work and can only keep jar makers busy for so long since 3tomatoes are used at a time and their item is made fast but low yield at once they also got awkward harvesting times so u never do anything at once u just have to keep going back to harvest

if it works for you, then it works. but if you're looking for gold, by giving both the tomatoes and wheat a buff buddy (in mine it was the potato and corn) you actually increased the gold by nearly 8k

It does not look like there is a way to move an individual plant around the garden without destroying it with the hoe. Please correct meif wrong... but redoing a garden seems like just waiting for the entire garden to be harvested before you can do anything about it.

the way i understand it, is that the seeders only make normal quality seeds. however, there's a chance of making star quality. the seeder does not make star seeds. the star quality math code gives the star quality seeds. the game is basically saying that it doesn't have the space to put the normal seed even though it's going to be star quality. if that made any sense

there is still a chance of making normal seeds (actually just got one from my star quality carrots that i seeded) the seeder stopped because it doesn't have a place to put the normal seed even though it will be star quality. the same will happen with preserve jars

so, in regards to earlier conversation about why the seeder stops working if it's full, it is because the seeder makes regular seeds and then the maths do math things to make the seeds actually star quality. i have star quality corn in a seeder right now (just getting it out of the storage system don't need the money) and i currently have 12 star seeds and 1 normal seed. my gardening level is 97

I read here a few days ago that you should make apples, blueberries and apicy pepper into seeds to sell. However, at least for both apples and blueberries, the jams actually give more money per fruit. Like an apple seed is 700g/1050g non stared/stared, takes 10 apples, while 10x apple jam from star quality apples makes 1440g. Was that tipp about making seeds intead of jams just because it takes longer to make the jams than seeds?

well, if you need focus foods you can make petite fives (400/600) or apple pies (325/487), if you have the crafting license to get more preserve jars down can do that or just sell off the excess

think the petite fives is the way to go, level up your cooking and get food for focus. it's what i did/do. i'm an apple harvester

Honestly it's not so much "not wanting", it's also just forgetting that it's an option. At least for me it is. If two crops have the same boost/bonus you can swap them out at any time.

Thanks for the updates! Yeah, knapweeds tend to stop plant growth when they are present. Maybe the chapaas sprinkled some magical dust on them so they can affect more plant growth? 🤔️

Question? Not being critical, seriously asking, why use the harvest boost on the crops you aren't harvesting? Is there a some kind of bonus or etc. to having everything boosted?

plants give out that boost to but yeay harvest boost is just 50% more harvest if it was on the crop the whole time it grew

no reason. apples now naturally give the harvest boost, i don't put the fertilizer on the ones that need it. obviously, i need harvest boost on the apple trees. however, when they changed the apple jam from harvest boost to quality up, i lost my main source of harvest boost (keep the preserve jars going on apples and running 5 worm farms for the harvest fertilizers i was able to get more than enough) when they changed, i had a hard time deciding what item to put into the worm bins and, at the time, didn't realize that grilled fish was the way to go. so i started looking for layouts that provided harvest boost to other crops. since i don't want to have to worry about weeding or watering every hour, i also wanted those as well (especially since i'm a switch player, watering could easily lag my game). duhscape's layout provided all the things i was looking for. it just happens to do everything for every crop

and, added bonus that i don't really use, i can use the corn for my focus food (petite fives). though i currently have over 200 in storage so i don't really need to worry about that for a while

yeah, i've had a lot of other layouts in the past, but the lost of apple jam to harvest boost really hurt me. i like being able to just go out and bug hunt or hunting in general without worrying about are my crops watered, are there weeds and such, especially if i find a good server

this layout also allows me to fully afk and do other things, since my switch is in handheld mode, i can do something else and let the game play by just tapping the control stick every so often

i'll say the same thing to you that i say to everyone else who asks if this is a good layout. does it do what you need it to? can you get the garden to grow within reason? can you keep up with the processing of the crops you harvest? if yes to those questions, then it's a good layout. each player plays the game differently (i have 4 apple trees and that's the only thing i harvest out of the entire garden) and what works for one person, doesn't necessarily work for others

it works it works, everything is water/weeded. the only drawback that could happen is a bug where you might lose fertilizer on some of the crops. had that happen with one of my layouts where i was using water block. planted all five of the apple trees and fertilizied them at the same time, came back after a few hours and 3 of them lost the correct amount of fert but the last 2 had lost a lot more

yeah, it still works and completely afk. just plant it and forget it. as i said i only harvest the apples so i only need to replant it once every 30 hours and i just need to check on the garden every harvest tick (so only every 12 hours after the first planting and every 6 hours after

If you put too much or the wrong fertilizer on a plot you can just put a different fertilizer on and it’ll give you back the other one
Ex. Put 10 harvest boost by accident, add 1 water retain and it’ll give you back the 10 harvest boost

The max fertilizer you can stack per plant is 100, and it’ll be continuously used as the plant grows, ideally you have the fertilizer on for the entire growth cycle

yeah! also iirc if you’re above level 25 you are guaranteed quality plants from quality seeds, and above level 50 you get quality plants from any seeds. so you end up not needing quality boost after a certain point

Thanks for the update! The knapweeds are not supposed to be kept in our soil plots as they can cause damage to our healthy plots. You're supposed to remove them as soon as you see them so that your crops can continue growing. 😭️ Weeds can be sold for a small sum of gold coins, or kept for future purposes.

But, if you would like to keep them for decorative purposes then you are welcome to do so, it's just that, since it's a pesky weed, it's still going to affect the crops around the area where the knapweeds are. 😓️

ok so the thing is since u give u a full weedblocked layout and hte other soil has no weedblock it iwll eventually get 9 weeds on it which will glitch out ur gardens growthticks casuses game crashes and popups of oh no ur playerdata got corrupted and server disconnects (dont worry nothing will perma break) u just dont grow ur crops then is a warning im giving ya so weed that apple every now and then regardless kay

I think I don't understand fertilizer. Brand new apple seed, add Harvest Boost. Do I need to add more every time I water? I noticed when I hit G its no longer there. Do I have to add more every time I water because that seems like such a waste.

apple trees take 9 fertilizers on it (since it takes 9 slots of the plot. the fertilizer gets used every growth tic, so every hour when the game turns 6am it will use 9 fertilizers. in order to make sure that you get the benefit of the fertilizers it needs to be there every day. otherwise there would be a chance that it doesn't work

nope, because the fertilizer has a lower chance of working if it was only applied once, it needs to be there the entire growth cycle (so all 30 hours) to make sure you maximize your apples out put.
taken from the wiki - Each farming square can have one type fertilizer applied at a time, but you can stack up to 99 fertilizers of the same type on a single square. Each square will consume 1 fertilizer per growth cycle. In order to achieve full benefit of fertilizer, it needs to be consumed every day. E.g. fertilizing a potato (5 day crop) only 4 times with harvest boost fertilizer will give 4/5 chance of getting bonus yield.

so, it needs to be fertilized every growth cycle (at 6am game time) to get the max benefit

you can substitute any of the same buff crops with each other. so if you see a layout that uses potatoes and tomatoes, and you don't like tomatoes you can swap in the cabbage for them

the only difference may be in gold output

each crop gives a different buff. of the different buffs, harvest boost (gained from rice/wheat/corn/apples/blueberries or harvest boost fertilizer) is probably the most important since it gives extra crops when harvesting (apples normally only give 16 per harvest but with harvest boost it gives 24 per harvest) the other buffs are based more on what task you would rather do - watering every hour or checking for weeds every hour.

planting crops next to each other will offer their buff to the 4 adjacent (n,s,w,e) of that crop, though crops of the same type don't give their buffs to each other (i.e. if you have 2 potatoes together they will not water each other, but if you have a potato and tomato next to each other they will both have water retain where you don't have to water outside of the original planting)

We need more farm plots. The ones we have are great for normal gardening but like if you want to have an orchard with apes etc you have to basically pick and choose. It already takes so much time and grindage to get things would it really hurt game play if we had more gardening plots.

technically yes, as it would mess up the money economy of the game to have more garden plots, since the crafters run while off line. now if they made it so that the new garden plots were just decorative and the crops planted in it were "fake" (didn't produce anything) that would be fine

most layouts use the crops to give the water retain or the weed protection buff. some people will chose between which buffs they want (or which task they want to do least) and then use fertilizers to cover the missing buff if they need it

also there might be some bugs regarding using too much fertilizers where fertilizers will disappear or crops won't grow

Thanks. Weeds (for some reason) have their uses, so there is a place for weeds in my field. Fertilizer is sold by Zeki so I can collect my coins. I guess things are just a matter of perspective.

Thank you for sending this, it looks really good. Though, I was mentioning about design-wise/decoration for my garden. I've seen a lot of decorative plots have their soils split off deparately for their design, which removes the efficiency I want to keep

Sorry about that. If it's a design feature, it would be to install it in an enclosure such as a court yard, for example, or to plant seasonal crops such as tomatoes or corn as a pattern.

apple blueberys with lots of other crops is very difficult to pull of cuz blueberrys shapre is super annoying an even number on an uneven amount of tiles in al direction yeay squezing 2x2 in 9 3x3 is big oof cuz a good layout also has tons of 100%boosts harvest and water at least

I hate trying to do maps for planting — what’s the most efficient crop? I have everything except blueberries

any layout can be effective depending on how you look at it. when i started and didn't know anything about gardening, i just had 81 slots of tomatoes to seed, and it's job was to get early money and it work. so the questions that need to be answered are: What do you want from your garden? What buffs do you want? Do you want complete and total afk or do you not mind putting in some effort to it? Do you want to focus on a few crops or do you want access to all of the crops? How often do you play and for how long? How many crafters are you allowing towards gardening? I'm assuming that you are at least level 10 if you have access to apples.

Thank you!!! I’m level 7, I don’t mind watering or weeding. I just don’t like needing to look at a layout just to plant crops. Somehow found an apple (while mining maybe??) and then requested 9 more which is how I got the apple tree 😂

at that level, you probably don't have the full weeding achievement yet (pick 1000 weeds) which will get you renown to use elsewhere. so, maybe a modified version of one of duhscape's beginner plots might work to get you started, then maybe move on to a different set up when you feel like it's no longer working for you?

you'll have to check for weeds, but everything is water retained so you don't have to water (moot point since you have to check for weeds) harvest boost will get you a lot of crops to process, especially the apple with 24 per harvest. all crops are fast growers, simple layout of rows for ease of replanting. and if you harvest and replant as the plants become available, with a focus bar full, should get you plenty of gardening levels fairly quickly (which is why i left out cotton)

either could be an option, crops keep giving their buffs until they are harvested so leaving them continues the buff they give. on the other hand, picking and replanting as they come available could help with seeder/preserve jar management, especially if the crop has short processing times

because some people are over sensative about their garden laouts. . being a math person I can see the hard work a person put in to show bok choy is the best.. money wise. there are otehr lay outs for water, or etc, but i would agree so far the proff is pretty much in the corner for boy choy through seed collector the best ..or fastest money per time ratio is all

Wel in ur layout u havent added any fert fert use is part of layouts but someone should explain how to fert to u

u apply fert at one plant/tile one at a time by having it in ur inventory only one type of fert can be placed on a tile/plant
unles the plant gets the ferts buff from an adjacent plant it will use the fert each time it grows

dont place to muhc fert on a soil or else it glitches so not 9tiles 99 from the same fertiliser

if you put the wrong kind of fertilizer you can apply a different kind and it’ll return the previous kind to your inventory

there's a glitch that if you have too much fertilizers on the soil plots, then it will use more fertilizers than what it's supposed to. I had the glitch happen to me for a bit, would place 99 fertilizers on my apple trees at replant, water, leave and when i came back the following time to check on them, some had 90 fertilizers on them (normal) but a few would have like 54 or something left

so if you're at your plot every hour to check for weeds (or if you haven't gotten the weeding achievement for picking 1000 weeds) wouldn't worry too much about weed prevention as a newbie until after the achievement has been gotten

This was the best i was able to come up with. Overall, it does increase profit and boosts 🙂 Once level 20+ or something (Not entirely sure) you will only receive quality crops from quality seeds making quality boost pretty pointless.

You have to grow them from seeds. Apple trees take up 9 squares of garden, and blueberry bushes take up 4

I've got a question, maybe someone could provide an answer?
I've been trying to grow non-star crops because I only own the starred ones. it's difficult to cook recipes sometimes because of that.
But no matter what I do, my crops only grow starred stuff. Why? I use non-star seeds, no fertilizer and have no quality boost otherwise. I still get starred stuff.
It's getting really frustrating and idk what to do atp

When you first start gardening, you have a 50% chance to receive a star quality crop. This chance increases by 2% every level, so by level 25 you will only harvest star quality crop, you will be unable to get any more normal ones.

I don't see how weeds would relate to server disconnects, but idc if it stops the crops they are on from growing because it keeps the rest of my crops weed free. You're not meant to harvest weed plots anyway.
