A Buzzy Jar or two in Southern Bahari Bay usually nets me multiple stacks of silk by the time I'm done, especially if I'm lucky and manage to catch someone doing lures as well. It's very a good loop running around Pulsewater, Hideaway, back up through Pulsewater, up to Pavel, back down to Pulse, around Hideaway, rinse and repeat.
That's the route I usually take, you could try northern Bahari too, but I find a lot more ppl running around up there willy nilly which scares off a lot of the rare bugs.

I actually had to make another loom specifically to help with making silk because I had 200-300 silk sitting in storage and one loom wasn't processing them fast enough to keep up with how many stacks I was bringing home XD

so there's one for a regular one, one for the elder one and one for the proudhorned one

there's no "right time" to hunt any of the sernuks, you just hunt them and see if rng drops them. i finally just got the regular sernuk plushie after a good 400 kills

The other chapaa have stripes and they are a bit darker in colour. That’s the only difference. Kind of the same like the sernuk. Only smaller and a bit harder to spot from a distance

I usually look at their tail. It's nearly brown if they're striped, and it's fully bright red if they're normal

Lures are kind of 50/50. They CAN get you the bug you want, or you end up with 0 smoke bombs and a ton of the common bugs. Whether or not you use a lure is up to your style of gameplay and what you think is best.

the other day I used like 8 lures with someone in there to try to get spotted mantis and duskwing butterfly and we had some lures that were common bugs only and some that were a few of those we were looking for so I think it's still luck

They are not easy too catch - I set off a buzzy jar just before 3am when the day starts new bugs spawn , it took a few tries i caught non-starred ones finally a starred one . I didn't use any lures

I'd say lures work well for spotted, considering they only have the one small spawn location. Took me 5 to get a starred one. If you have the mats for lures on hand go for it, but a buzzy and server hopping will work if you don't. I consider that more tedious though

Just make sure when using lures that you actually catch the night moths/butterflies so the spawns keep refreshing. If you leave them they don't get spooked off and clog up the lure

@small bloom I Have always caught them in the early morning like before 9am. No aids just check behind the farm and if you find nothing after a couple passes try again the next morning. I say morning because there is not a lot of activity going on in the morning. Just my experience.

I reccomend aiming at them and slowly approaching them, and right when they are spooked hit it with a dispell arrow which will stun it and then its easy to bang bang bang because it can't move at all

Yeah just have your bow ready and equipt with the dispel arrows, spook it and then hit with the dispel and he will just sit there for you to hit over and over with more dispel.

Yeah those I'd honestly say majority of players can't solo hunt They typically require a team of 3 or more to comfortably hunt.
The 1st player chops, 2nd hits with dispel so all can see it and the 3rd hits with slow down. Any extra players within the team hit with whatever they prefer.

And while the 1st is chopping the rest are ready and aiming at the base of the tree.

It takes a bit of practice and everyone having a set role to make it work smoothly.

i've went thru 3 honey lures in a specific spot on the east side of maji's hollow. finally found my first at around 3-4am, but everytime i went to hit it, it just kept no-clipping itself in the most random spots? i got one hit on it using a sticky bomb and afterwards it just completely disappeared after moving closer to the honey lure. 😭 i'm guessing its bc i'm on switch that the lag was suuuper real but... are they rlly that hard to catch once they spawn ?

Well if you see a rare or epic bug, make sure to catch them for better experience points. And if you do like mining, then make sure to catch the bugs that spawn from mining the rocks in Bahari because they are rare bugs and give good experience, they give more if they are starred too

Yes, it takes a long time. Because normal and elder sernuks have a 1 in 1000 chance, getting a plush before 1,000 sernuk kills is lucky. But you can very well get one after 1,000 kills too.

The best advice I can give is to hunt without expecting to get a plush. Just hunt when you see them or you can try to farm sernuks for plushies but there is no guarantee.

The only sernuk really worth farming for plushies is the Proudhorn because there is only one and it has a 1 in 100 chance making it easier to far,

I agree with Kimura's answer but also feel if you're really eager to grind out levels a) buzzy jar in South bahari morning has the most amount of rare and higher bugs but b) sometimes simply spamming a ton of uncommons is the way to go and for that I'd recommend hitting the bahari beaches and just capturing all the crabs and snails.

Bug catching was lagging for me as well. While higher level bugs move you forward faster, if you miss them more than catch them, then focus on easier bugs. Always show up when someone is using a honey lure. Crabs are pretty easy so I caught a lot of them. Start with Bahari crabs and then move on to spineshell. It's a grind but levels you up and builds skills.

Mirror Fields is also a great alternative when others are farming the crabs and snails. Bug catching was a nightmare crawl for me but I found that spot to have so many that I only left to empty my bags or make more bombs.

They spawn around Pulsewater, Hideaway, the pond by Hodari's house, and on top of Pavel Mines. Their spawn time is 3am to 6pm

The best time to look for them is right at 3 am in-game. You can also scare other bugs and hope one spawns or you can try honey lures

The best way to get the leafstalker is by picking sweet leaf and brair daisies because it has a 10% chance to spawn when picking them. The common bark cicada should be really easy to catch because it is on trees but it wont show up on the buzzy jar

my main tip for them is to listen to bugs that scare when you come close to the trees

i was looking for it at the same time as I was for rainbow butterfly and fairy mantis so mu strategy was teleport to pulsewater teleport sign, run a circle with buzzy jar active, catch everything it shows, teleport to kilima and repeat

Be at the top of Pavel Mines before 3AM hits ingame. That is when it spawns for the day (yes you can get one anytime of the day but it is my understanding that there is a limited amount of spawns). If it isn't to be found from one end to the other, then relog to jump to a different server. If you are using a Buzzy Jar it will make it a lot easier. If nothing shows up, jump servers (I just restart the game and hope I am on a different server).

I have found that using a honey lure at around 10:30 AM game time works well. I even got two once. It helps if you are also using a buzzy jar because then you know it's nearby.

For Rainbow Butterfly the best thing to do is use a Buzzy Jar, be in Bahari shortly before 3AM game time and try the spots the map shows you. If you find nothing, server hop (log out and back in). The Rainbow Butterfly spawns at 3AM and those spawns are the only ones you get for the day.

Doing it all within the first week is incredibly ambitious. Starred gossamer and raspberry is VERY rare. Vampire crab just keep running around the fortress at night and scare off all the other ones (or catch them). Fairy mantis I've seen a lot at groves.

On the side of the main sky island is a temple that was closed previously; Should be open now. Has 4 torches inside and you gotta shoot 'em in a certain order to make a chest with the other critter spawn

Honey lure didn’t work for me. Buzzy Jar didn’t work for me. Got loads, never starred. I finally caught my last bug yesterday at 3:50 ingame running through Majis Hollow on my way to Bahari. After three painful weeks of trying it was just there: the spotted mantis. I feel mocked

Congrats. And the mujin is not impossible. I thought so too but you get used to hunting them. I found it best in a group of three. One cutter, one with magical arrows and one with slow down. Got my second starred mane yesterday.

I just caught duskwings and this is what worked for me: go to shrine at 6am, they are hard to see from 3 to 6 due to tree shade. Do an endless loop of the garden slowly ( no fast run) looking around, occasionally climb cliff to have a look from above and then glide down. They fly so easy to spot and much much darker than the other butterflies. Repeat until 6pm. Nothing on day 1 but I caught 2 on game-day 2 and a starred one on game-day 5. sticky bomb helps too.

I used a lure last time around 5.30/6.00 in the morning, when you come in on the right side between the trees. Catch all the butterflies so they can spawn. i caught about 5 of them that time. But some are difficult to see because of the shade.

Also server hop! Run from kilima into bahari and back to Kilima to switch servers and catch and normal butterfly to make room for dusk butterflies to spawn

try to get all the storage boxes and the 3 "safe" storage Boxes and hen gradually expand the max limit for storage per box. I use the safe ones to have at least one of all bugs and fish i caught, in case you might need it later for a boundle or so

i find a ton of princess ladybugs with a smoke candle on and do a pass through gillyfin cove shoreline like at the tippy part where that shrine is, and there's like a dock. they spawn right on that path but they scare easy and from a long ways away, so the candle mitigates that issue. best of luck!

For folx trying to get duskwings, my go-to method is to chase off the bugs in the Dragon Shrine while using a buzzy jar, catch the common blue butterflies, catch the rares that spawn, then put a honey lure down where I first saw the duskwing spawn (I’ve had less success getting them to spawn if I put down the lure where the spotted mantises spawn). Gotta catch the common blues with the lure up so more duskwings show up.

Nope. You have three different plushies that each drop from corresponding sernuks: Regular, Elder and Proudhorn.
There is a fourth plushie of an Order Sernuk that you can get from Zeki’s Lucky machine.

Oh this is a really dumb bug hunting tip but it may help PC players struggling with cicadas - I've always had my Palia graphics set pretty low, to the point where I barely see any grass, and it's easy for me to spot cicadas that way because they load in with their wings out from a distance and they only fold them up as I get closer so I can move slower as I approach and get em that way

I ended up just doing a loop of the trees behind Badruu's farm chopping the big and medium ones, got 8 normal GGB's before a starred one made an appearance but the perseverance paid off! Good luck, friend

Getting very discouraged in playing I have been searching for the rainbow tipped butterfly for over a month. I have watched videos and read a lot on it and still can’t get it. Ugh

I've looking for like months and today I FINALLY got two of them following tips some ppl gave me here! What I did was go to Pulsewater at 3am (in game time) and use a buzzy jar, then went around looking for them (if you scare other bugs it'll probably help too). They usually spawn at Pulsewater, Hideaway, Hodari's House and the top of Pavel Mines.

ok, idk what the videos said, I'd say there's 3 main ways to find them:

• arrive at grove first - there's always an epic but or a magical animal that spawns so there's a chance it'll be there
• honey lure at pulsewater - you'll either be lucky or not, hard to predict
• server hoping. that's the way I got most of mine while I was looking for a star one. between 3 am and around 9-10am i'd teleport to pulsewater, run a quick circle where they spawn with the jar active and if there wasn't one I'd teleport to kilima and back to pulsewater to look on another server. usually I'd get 2-3 in an in game day that way

I was on one only twice, once for bahari and once for Kilima, feels weird AF but easiest way to get rare+ bugs

here's the circle I was running, there's a few spots the jar might not reach (it reaches most for sure) with it but I feel like it's worth it to just not check them because of how quick it is and it means you get to check more servers quicker

also I would suggest doing it only until like 9-10am - by that time butterflies on most server would either be caught or scared off so the chances of getting them are smaller the later into their spawn period it is

that's a pretty great image! but they also appear across the bridge to the east. I can confirm that one a day will show up and rarely more than one. I farmed 10 hydrangea seeds (bc that's who I am lol) and that was a LOT of duskwing catching. Start at 3am, run in circles (include the far side of bridge!) catch all common butterflies, scare the rest, an settle in for the grind

speaking of duskwing difficulty... I go there every week to find duskwing hunters to get the 10 Bug Together weekly guild achievement. But lately not so many folks there and I'm finding it harder and harder to complete. I run around Stalking people who are often newbies with no idea why I'm following along. it's super awkward. I call out for help, like today, but often have to explain and on switch all that typing is tedious. What I wouldn't give for an in-game LFG feature sigh

The best way to get them is by chopping juniper trees. I lure works too, but chopping trees is the best and most straight forward way to get them.

If you are going to place a lure, I would say to place it at flooded steps where there are less trees so you can see easier

I find that bugs that you find by chopping trees are the easiest and the surest way that they spawn. Lure is 50/50 and it’s all up to rng to spawn you the bug you need. Ancient Amber Beetle maybe took 20-30 minutes of chopping Juniper trees to get a starred version, not that long at all

and with chopping trees you always have a chance that they'll respawn as flow trees so that's also a plus of doing it that way

Me and my friend are going to get a rainbow tipped butterfly star quality by force spawning(via honey lure and scaring/catching everything that spawns , so more and more and more things can spawn , that way we making a LOT of things spawn , very highly increasing chances for rainbow butterfly to spawn in) ,need a lot of people for this , but everyone will get the star quality rainbow butterfly is we succeed

Roles :
Honey lure spawner - will spawn the honey lure
Seeker - Tasked with using a buzzy jar and ONLY throwing smoke bombs at the rare bugs and chasing them if they run , when the seeker starts shooting something , everyone follows (if they want to catch that star quality rare bug , that is)
Chasers - they run around and chase away all the frighted bugs so they despawn , so that others can quickly respawn (basically you run around in cricles and run staright at anything that isnt a common butterfly/moth , which cant get scared away)
Cleaners - they constantly shoot at the common butterflies/moths and anything that dosent/cant get scared , in order for more bugs to spawn , we need to clear out/catch all the existing bugs , theres a limit for existing bugs near the lure...

The more bugs we scare away/catch , and the quicker we do this , the higher our chances at rare bugs to spawn will be. The lesser we scare away/catch and the slower we do this , the lower chances we will have at rare bugs to spawn.

The tactic , in theory , should work for any bug in the game in any location (only for bugs that can spawn in the wild , dosent work on bugs that only spawn by mining a rock/ore or cutting some tree)

if anyone has lures and wants to catch any specific bugs , i got around 50 buzzy jars , i have no problem in taking the Seeker role

Also for cleaners specifically , save up around 200+ smoke bombs , last time we did a butterfly lure we got around 90~ common butterflies

with only 2 of us , so was slow

The issue is when the Rainbow tip spawns in, which everyone running around, you can almost guarantee that it is going to get scared early

Not counting the times where it gets caught on the first throw

can be lure spawner which takes role of either chaser or cleaner , then 2 or 3 others who will be either chaser or cleaner , but i feel like wed need just 1 chaser , rest all cleaners ... WAYYY too many common butterflies lol

with 1 lure we got 90 butterflies... and just two of us... if theres like 4 shooting at the butterflies there may be like 150 or smth overall

technically , its better with more people , the more people to clear out the butterflies , the better the chances for a rainbow tipped to spawn. if u have just 2 people and barely clear 90 butterflies in the whole time , u may end up with no result and no rainbow tipped , if u have way more people , you will atleast make one spawn. The common butterflies will , very quickly , overwhelm 2 players or even 3
