you want to visit the dragon shrine to increase the “amount of focus you can hold” and the pheonix shrine (where you started the game) to increase the “bonus exp” you get, if you have no focus (the little bar top left) then you level slower in the skill you are doing

Made most money with tomato seeds before they got nerfed. After that preserves and if you simply sell starred cotton, you can get quite a lot

Start a full garden and plant tomatoes, potatoes, and if your level is high enough, blueberries and apples.

Then sell those in the bin, but save enough to make more seeds.
