I don't think having horse would be good idea. Wbile running around u can collect so many things. Imagine every time u see the bug or rock or plant, to stop, get off collect and get back on. And aspect of missing things along the way. Fast travel is indeed cheap. U catch few bugs or fish or even sell few iron ores and u have enough to do so.
