Depends on what features you were interested in that you saw early on. Shop pricing has some discounted stuff but is otherwise the same. There isn't any free game clothing.

The in-game events I would say are worth coming back for as its introducing more to the game than the grind. The quest line being more fleshed out also gives a better drive for the grind too as it's more spread out.

I also found playing on the switch with the joy cons in a comfortable chair, therefore being more ergonomic with a better ability to play idly, has made the time spent more comfortable and fun for me

the star quality cooking to therefore be able to place them in the house is cool (as someone who is most interested in furniture collecting)

One thing you can do, that helps a little, is rearrange the tools so that the bug belt is on one of the cardinal directions instead of a diagonal.
