Hey guys so yesterday I hopped on my flight sim. MSFS and decided to take a flight from Orlando Executive to Tampa Executive on a Cessna 152 so I could learn more with the 6 pack

Was pretty fun, except when about a quarter of the way there I saw a bunch of clouds in the distance and I decided to divert to a nearby airport, Kissimmee Gateway

I was wondering though, do some of you stick to realism when flying on your sims?

I don't know enough yet but I don't want to build bad habits

I've been simming for well over 10 years now, and I've since starting flying IRL as well. I tend to try and stick to realism to help build habits that I've learned from real flying, so incorporating those habits into my simming helps, but before I began flying IRL, I still tried my best to be realistic, but that's what I found as fun, if you find flying "unrealistically" fun or enjoyable, then go for it. If you want to learn the 6 pack, best way is to fly IFR, flying VFR really doesn't require much from the instruments, but IFR flying really allows you to hone your instrument and system skills so don't be afraid to go into a couple of clouds.

Thank you for the details, I really should learn basics of IFR like using VORs and reading charts + meterological info so I can get from point to point. With Vatsim I should have a closer experience

I would recommend learning a 6 pack before a G1000, it's way easier to go from 6 pack to G1000 than the vice versa, plus if you can fly instrument with a 6 pack, you'll be a much better pilot

It's ok, the flight dynamics are bit wonky. On takeoff the nose gear is almost stuck to the runway and then suddenly lifts off, but they said they'd fix that in the next update, other than that it's pretty good, does the job.
