#Camera Advice
1 messages Β· Page 8 of 1
i've got a ton of backstock to shoot lol
shoot a halloween party or something
That's the 75-100
Yes but you said you was also looking at the 100-300
Sorry mb
Aha peak aperture
I'll give you 20$ and a taco bell crunch wrap
Do you have that F to shoot it on yet
shame
yo @glad juniper my man
i need some help
i need a 150 -600 mm for my nikon D750
im thinking 2. hand and price (1000$)(MAX)
thoughts on the 100-400?
1500$
also theres 2x extenders
are those worth it?
Depends on the generation
Best budget camera? I have a canon 400d not 4000d but paired with it I have the canon 75-300mm I'm looking for smth in the 300-500 range if could thanks
sigma 100-600
Hey maus why do you hate the G1 Tamron 150-600 so much? Samples look great
The g1 is horribly soft, the contrast sucks, the af is slow etc etc
Fair enough
@glad juniper if you actually want the 550D lmk
yeah i gotta talk with my sister first but i'll lyk whats going on
kk
does the 75-300 have is
that cant be good

batt/charger?
which 50?
I uhh can't remember
Lemme find
It must be at my moms
I think it came with the 550
hmmm
double hmmm
?
how about the tamron 150 / 600
G1 is shit, G2 is tolerable
sigma is better on paper but personally i've got better results with the tamron
more people swear by the siggy tho
What body?
I assume some kind of z mount body
idk
Ok so you cant use the 180-600 on it as its for a different mount.
oh ok
I would instead look at something like a used nikkor 200-500 5.6
Theyβre around 700 used
Overall itβs a better lens than the sigma 150-600 contemp and tamron g1/g2
But you dont get the 600
I mean for 100 more you get a lens that does everything better
If only having 500 is ok
hmm
Def check like ebay bids
Ye im just providing suggestions
I usually look at ebay and mpb
alot*
I have a d750 too :))
Thought I donβt rly use it for planes anymore
Rn I have the sigma 150-600 contemporary for planes but im looking at selling it and buying the 200-500
Sure
As long as you don't exactly need the af speed, the 2-5 is great
Yeah
AF speed?
whats that?
how fast it auto focuses
oh is it a big diferens on the 2 lenses?
Wouldn't say its a big difference π I want the sharpness and the much more effective vr which is kinda why
that depends on what camera body you use
anything thats not a d5/6/850/780
should be fine on a d4s
maybe d500/7500
ik the d600 and d610 struggles to autofocus in low light
the 200-500 shouldn't affect hunting in low light, none of the large telephotos should. Really just depends on the autofocus system of the body
I haven't had any low light autofocusing issues on my bodies so far except for nearly pitch black dance floors π
d7500
i mean
some of the af-d lenses should be just as good as af-s in low light
which d series
80-200 2.8 afd
Cause ik the D750, D7500, d800, d810, d780 all have the same autofocus system through the viewfinder
and the other d7xxx's i think
I'm ngl I want to impulse buy one π but I also don't want to cause it'll just collect dust
built to last
give me a few weeks and i might sell you mine lmao

nah sell it to someone who might need it more than me
Prob would've bought one had I not bought a 70-200
i've got my eye on a *cosmetically damaged* 70-2 2.8 vr ii for under 500
slide the link
I have the vr ii rn
nah its through someone local
ah
yeah
ask him if you can test it out first
under 500 for just cosmetic issues is interesting
he's been shooting it since he bought it
damn
its a great lens
basically never leaves my backpack
although the vr noise on mine is annoying as fuck
and its af-s meaning i can jump to z soon
its prob just mine though
yuss ftz
its filter ring damage and cracked plastic near the mount afaik
crazy deal ngl
and since its "damaged" he won't do more
i got mine for nearly 1k used
shit if its optically perfect and functions as intended who cares about that π
the only issue is he's trying to get the 105 1.4 before he sells
which are uh
not cheap
he doesn't need the dc
he's after it for a fast prime he can shoot sports/birds/cars with
not as fast autofocus speed and vr though
ah
nvm
i got my eyes on the dc and the 60mm macro
is it sharp?
yeah it was sharp i just didn't use it enough
alr
and i got a 105 to replace it
i'm looking at the 105 macro and its not much more expensive but i read that theres focus breathing issues
π€·ββοΈ
that hasnt bothered me in the past but it might for macro purposes
i haven't really noticed tbh
but i've been using it for scanning so there's not much focus matters
it only rly matters if you're trying to fill the frame or whatever
the vr ii has focus breathing issues but it hasn't bothered me ever
eh for planes near inf it doesn't really matter lol
yeah
plus they're already so far out the focal length changes aren't gonna do anything
how is the d7500?
lovely
my "upgrade" was between that and the d750 in the summer
the only two serious complaints i've got about it is it can't use a batt grip and that its only got a single card slot
i cant remember why i chose the d750 over it
wasn't cause of full frame

maybe it was the card slot thing
thats hella important for me nowadays
sensor maybe?
can't remember π
not the fx vs dx but better dr/low noise etc
eh the grip doesnt matter much cause the battery life is amazing
though its much more comfortable
i want it more for portraits lol
ye
i've got one for my d700 and i've been using the piss out of it
π
it hasnt left my d750 since forever
i kinda like the feel of it more than the built in grips tbh
high iso perf is eh at best but thats dx for you lol
yeah i think i like the battery grip feel a little more cause theres more grip to it
whereas on the d4s theres not rly any grip rubber where my palm is
kinda just in the front
idk i like more rubber feeling
the button placement is much nicer than on a battery grip though
sharp af
sharp as fuck damn
man I wish there was an angle like that at sfo
π
reopen westfield
well there can be but you gotta trespass
yeah π
or so i've been told
pretend you're finding a parking spot
all it takes is some shitty spotters to ruin it for everyone yk
i used to go there but the heat haze drives me crazy
i got lucky, the weather was shit lol
π
love frenchbee
but i'm from the pnw so that was a non issue

i had some decent shots from bayfront
prob wont go there for a while though until golden hour/sunset goes back behind the airport
there's really no reason to go back if not for the reason that i've got a new lens and am a "better photographer" now
now the sunsets hella to the left
but heat hazy

if you do, check out the airtrain station
its been the best not rly any closer option spot for me
i'd probably do airtrain and the terrace
the only issue is thats like the only moment u get
the view is like framed right between two buildings
so u get no time
gotta make it work though
i havent done the terrace yet
idk if its worth it without one of those lens hoods for the glass
silicone or whatever
Oh that's a non issue
oh fr?
Yeah for me at least lol
I haven't had issues with dirty glass tbh
idk if i've ever seen jetstar in person π
kk
Use your hand to kinda seal the lens to the glass
Panning is tough but doable
Idk how to explain it over text lol
π
nah you're good
i'm looking at a pic of it rn
do you know anything ab nikon teleconverters
Which one wasn't shot through a window lol
Only the manual ones
ah ok
that is a clean pan
that'd be 1/10 handheld
Nope
π
The cessna was shot on a balcony and the alaska tails were shot from a parking garage
Everything else is window or plexiglass
Oh and an airplane window
Gonna give canon a try ππΌ
@random prism what is your favourite lens for canon?
That I've used? Or over all?
That I've used the 70-300ii
Over all is probably say the 70-200 or 100-400
Hey @glad juniper and @misty steeple
I found a nice used nikkor 200-500
For 765USD
I think that is good
Thats a good price
Yeah thats a pretty solid price
My mom wants me to waitπ
Til after xmas
I hope it is stil for sale then π
g1 or g2
G2
thats not bad either
Lucky
I have no room to talk 90% of my gear is hand me downs from my mother
Save for one lens
@glad juniper u still interested in the 550D? If not I have some other spotter asking
I've decided against it, mostly cause I don't think I terribly want to try to teach someone else a system I don't know
Also i might as well put more money towards a better body vs a mid body and still having to buy an edc lens
yo for Nikkor 200-500
shod i change camera boddy after?
if yes which?
(im curantly D750)
(lookig at D500)
No
That'd be a downgrade
If you want to stick in the dslr ecosystem get a d780/d850/d5/6
If not
Z6ii/6iii/7ii/8/9
Maybe a zf if you want
And if the rumors are to be believed, the z50ii will be a great little rig
the d500 is actually a better body than the d750/d780 in almost every way except full frame and low light performance. The D5 and D6 are too expensive to be starting photography with.
especially since hes considering doing wildlife, in which the d500 is the best dslr out there for wildlife
plus that'll give him that extra reach with the 200-500
@pastel sentinel If you can afford a d500 I would definitely consider it if you want to do wildlife, the d500 and 200-500 together is a really solid wildlife setup
plus you get that extra reach
Yeah but he's already got a 750
yeah
There's no real advantage to the d500/7500 other than """muh more reach"""
I mean if he really wants to get into wildlife photography, I believe he told me hes interested in it, I would definitely look at a D500 IF you can
Which is solved by having more mp to crop
the d500 has the same autofocus system as the d850
and 10 frames per second without the battery grip
It's a completely different camera than the d7500 and d750
z50ii is a travel camera
and you get your crop factor
thats it though
I mean, the only comparable camera for wildlife in the z series is the z8 but thats ff
there isnt an apsc replacement yet, closest thing would be the r7
So the d500s advantages are 10 fps and crop factor
Vs a proper fx sensor for more or less the same price
crop factor is a big advantage for what he wants to shoot and so is the frames per second yeah, but the autofocus system the d500 has kills the 51 point af system the d750/d7500 has
@pastel sentinel Basically if you really want to get into wildlife photography a d500 is going to do everything the d750 does but better for wildlife
For aviation you don't need the newer af system
Until you want to shoot in lower light, yes
Crop factor for planes kinda depends where you're shooting from
The d500 would be great
I'll take the af system over the low light in wildlife
there isnt gonna be birds and other animals when its that dark
yeah but you aren't shooting when its that dark for wildlife
especially if he does birding
And "professional"
i mean the d5 and d500 are also completely different cameras π
Then why hasn't everyone migrated to m43 with that 2x crop lol
the d500 was made for wildlife, d5 was made for sports/action
also not as good
π
and not as good lenses
compared to canon/nikon/sony they don't have nearly as good telephoto and telephoto prime options
food for thought
Eh your also not getting much in terms of dr
Great sensor but compared to fx it's uh
Yeah
Especially modern fx
also the buffer is a thing to think about
couldn't imagine birding with my d750, 14 raw photos in a row
I'd do it with my d700
I would too if there's no other option
ye
I'd also suggest the d850 but its too expensive
properly priced but expensive
I'd take the d850
45 megapixels compared to 20
you can crop hella in post for wildlife
But 12 fps vs 7
battery pack :))
OK 9 then
but extra money
Vs 12
plus you have to think about the weight and allat
meanwhile the d6 just exists
its just there
more expensive than the z9 π
Where tf are you looking
the d6 new is more expensive than the z9 lol
body only
exactly a thousand more

like why
anyways
^
Don't buy new then
mpb is goated though
They are
the d6 does look smexy though
the d3s is still going strong
built to last fr
pretty cheap too
I needa replace my shutter π

you should buy a d3x for funsies π
Nah not for that price
how much they going for
If I'm buying expensive dumb cameras I'm gonna get a smasnug nx-1
8-900 ish
Mpb has some for 600 ish

And you get the sad limited iso too
w
Finally took it seriously spotting a few days ago and it's lovely
Not a huge fan of the metering tho, it likes to run hot
older cameras just feel good to use
Gotta figure that out

Cuz I was thinking if I sell the d750
And buy the D500
Not in near future
But if ever want a new camera
Cus if I sell D750 and buy D500
I wil profit
If you want to get into wildlife I would definitely recommend the d500.
hmm ok
Crazy
oh thats not a bad
d850 is also 800 bucks off
its pretty close to its used prices now
holidays go brrr
My own lil "holiday deals" buy
6-700 bucks through mpb, 260 at my local camera store
and its reasonably nice too
How moch is the d500 then?
anyone got lens recommendation? im using a canon rf system rn, looking for a lens that is minimally below f5, ard 300mm of focal length?
Faster than f5?
Get a 2.8 prime and a loan
Or the 100-300 2.8
That's only 9500 bucks
yoo i found 2 200-500mm nikkor f5.6
one 750USD
one 850USD
the one that is 100 usd more has a lens cover
for 100USD
canon has a 300 2.8
couple thousand bucks though
and sigma has a 120-300 2.8 but you'll need to adapt it ef to rf
2-3 times the price though
shouldnt be an extra 100 for the lens hood
you'll need the lens hood though
i found the lens hood and it was 100usd
its used though
shouldnt be an extra 100 π
hmm ok
@glad juniper Making some interesting financial decisions
sending my 150-600 and d750 to mpb and replacing it with a d810
the 150-600 money will go towards a prime lens I need for sports
might buy the 200-500 sometime in the next couple months
what are you looking to shoot?
Have fun with mpb giving you less than they offered lol

i mean the only thing i'm not giving them is the charger
and the lens cases aren't included in the list of things that'll affect the price good cuz i'm keeping that shit
can be useful π
Yeah but they've had issues with "it's not good enough quality, here's 300 bucks less"
ah π
Yeah
well mine is in near perfect shape so
i had a skin on it so theres basically no scratches
gonna try out wildlife, might as well get something with high megapixels
only 5 frames per sec but i'd rather have the megapixels then try to crop with a d4s or d750 yk
specifically birds
i found a d500 for a low price cuz of a coupon on ebay but if I bring it as a second camera for sports I usually don't want the crop factor
it hasnt rly tbh
its on sale rn cuz of black friday
ah u meant used
Course I meant used
the d850 is a beast but yeah I gotta start saving up for other things
I gotta get a 300 2.8 for sports soon after that I gotta save up
Why not 300 pf
need the 2.8 for sports
high school lighting sucks
tryna join maxpreps and they won't accept anything less than a 300 2.8
Cringe
its true though
Pretty shit mindset unironically
at 2.8 with a 70-200 for field sports i'm already at 10,000 iso+
cause you need the higher shutter speed
also much sharper and faster than then 300 pf
gonna get the older vr 300 2.8 though
the vr ii is too expensive for so little advantages
the 2.8 is crucial for sports
hmmm
hmmm ok thanks
Get the X2D
Yeah canon kinda sucks for fast rf primes tbh
ef fast primes are peak ngl
I see
why have you replied to a months old message
just out of curiosity what are your experiences with using MPB and other used camera websites
KEH doesn't catalog individual serial numbers, if you buy a camera you have no real idea what condition it's in or what you're gonna get and that really puts me off
MPB does kinda scam you when you try to sell something but still it seems way better than the way KEH does things
Mpb is wonderful to buy from
I know a guy who got sent 2 busted nikon 500 F/4s from MPB though
Everything I've gotten from then is in better condition than they list
hmm, nice
Selling is a different story tho
what's the best way to sell something? local/facebook marketplace or something?
Honestly yeah local is best
Or trade in to your brand and get money off your new kit
I trade in locally but they don't give great rates
But I am trading old gear for equally old gear so it doesn't matter all that much
I live in Sri Lanka and the local gear trade just doesn't exist lol
to be fair, my current gear combo of extremely heavily used EOS 2000D + broken EF-S 18-55 without IS or STM is probably not gonna get me much money either way
Ebay is also a solid bet for selling
Reee
hey enyone know what tripod i shod get for the Nikkor 200 / 500_
budget?
around 100usd
this
Explore the extensive catalog of award-winning tripods, monopods, heads, filters, accessories built by Benro for the most demanding imaging professionals.
this is what i use
open box
Also depends on what you wanna do with the tripod
or alternatively, no tripod
it'll limit your movement and get in the way more often than not
or get a gimbal head if you insist on a tripod
fluid heads are slow and a ball head isn't what you want
need somthing i can use in a photo blind
a pop up photo blind
whit a chair and a bag
yeah if you're following things like animals or whatever ball head is not the best
might even want to consider monopod
lighter and more movement with the camera
if u have a local camera store, just go and try things
If you want a monopod get a tripod with a detachable leg
that sounds expensive
buy 3 monopods and 3d print an adaper to make it into a tripod
tbh id just use my tripod with 2 legs not extended
dont the make ball heads with a fluid base
They can make the ball with a fluid base but it's still a "tighten the ball down" mount
No those are the ones with the spinny wheels that you have to manually spin
someone on ebay bugin
ill buy a camera car atp
Atp just get like, a new camera
Hassy is nice but id get a leica q3 43 tbh
js gonna build a whole dark room
Oh that's cheap tbh
just gonna use the harry potter closet then
switch out the lightbulb for an inferred one or whatever they use
Does the d610 have sensor oil problems or is it just the d600?
Only asking cos I fancy selling the 7100, had enough of it lol
Wouldnt suggest downgrading to a d610
Autofocus alone, the d7100 has the 51 point af system which is old but reliable, while the d610 has the much older 39 point autofocus system. The nikon d610 sensor is also known for being unable to autofocus most of its autofocus points in low light. If you donβt like the d7100 youβll hate the d610
Whatβs your budget and what type of camera are you looking for? @teal basalt
Maybe look towards a nikon d700 or d750?
Too much for me. Spent most of my money on other things. Ive got a hundred Β£ or so left, hopefully that will increase after Christmas and after selling some of my unused camera gear. So hopefully I'll have about 500 pound or so after selling everything. Mirrorless is out of my budget so dSLR will be my only option for now.
better than a 610 π
at least it can autofocus in the dark
probably best not to go with either tbh π
with that budget you could probably grab a decent nikon d800 or d800e(go for the e if possible) for between 400-500 dollars on ebay, and you're using pounds so thats like 300-400 pounds
36mp, it has 51 point af system but on the older side(no group area autofocus), expeed 3 which is pretty old but still better than the d7000 expeed 2, full frame, same iso range as the d7000, same video capabilities, better dynamic range, overall just a better camera. With you're budget thats one of the better nikon dslr's you can get used.
still a beast
it can only do 4 frames per second though in 14 bit raw if that matters
Counterpoint d810 lol
You can get a eye popping one extra fps
But yeah, d800 or 750 would be a solid bet for an fx upgrade
The 800 is built for resolution over speed so it'll run slow but it'll give you great files to work with
You could also do the funny and get a d4
D3 would suffice if you're OK with the smaller sensor
Yeah, will probably get the d800 then. Would a 750 do a better job? Only asking because I've found one on eBay for 450 body only
D750 gets the tilt screen and 6.5 frames per second and the group area af but the d800/d800e gets the 36mp. If you go for the 800 get the 800e not the 800 because the d800e doesnt have an aa filter
What do you primarily shoot? If you dont need the high megapixels the d750 is probably the better choice
Well i mean you get the group area af which is amazing for action but the d810 is primarily a landscape camera so you dont rly need it but you also get the newer processor, better buffer, and better cards
But the d810 is lwk overpriced rn
450 on mpb is overpriced?
Im talking about good cosmetic quality and not a ridiculous shutter count
π
Theyβre like 700 for a good one
Both on mpb for under 550 have over 240k shutter actuations are are in not great condition
It's a tool, it gets used, that's what it's for
If i wanted a shelf camera I'd buy a leica π
Unironically I'd shoot the pants off an m3 tho
Well replacing a shutter added onto the cost of a camera that price will cost more than a decent one combined
At that much it can fail at any time
Yeah and shutters can fail whenever for reasons cause they want to
Sony a7iii moment
Much more likely that much past its shutter expectancy
Its the question whether or not itβll cost more to replace it if it does fail
Which would be more combined with the buying price for a d810 anywhere from 400 and up
If someone wants to shoot a lot I wouldnβt recommend going to the bottom of the list and choosing cameras way above the shutter expectancy and loose grips etc
I mean I bought a d4s way above the life and its almost at 500k actuations(rated for 400k) but there was no damage and just cosmetic stuff but for under 700
Mmmm d4s
Crazy deal but if i ever need to replace the shutter itβll still be less than a βgoodβ d4s, for a d800 prob not, theres also the parts thing and stores might not have shutters for the older cameras no longer serviced by nikon
D750 on eBay for 450, d800 on wex for 400
What do you primarily shoot? @teal basalt
Ye
If you do portraits, landscapes, wildlife would be pushing it, get the d800/d800e
Not many planes in my area so I might look at cars, I have a 300mm lens anyways
And wildlife yes
Ah
I mean, 24 mp on full frame is pushing it for wildlife but so is 4 fps with the d800
If you spend more time in a studio then outside get the 750
Both have tradeoffs with each other tbh
I think the 750 would be better for u
@glad juniper boutta grab a d500 for wildlife
decided Iβd rather have the crop factor and arguably the best nikon dslr autofocus over the 36mp of the d810
For same prices lol
Why not z50 ii
Cause the d500 is better suited for wildlife
Z50ii is a vlogger and tourist camera
5.6 frames per second raw, small body, worse ergonomics, 400-500 dollars more, no dual card slots(big for me), worse build quality
Plus need to buy an ftz adapter so thats another 100
Planning to get a z8 later summer 2025 though
Or somewhere end of next yr
Isn't that 5.6 fps number for silent mode
Then mechanical shutter is slower
I think
Idk lemme check
9.7 for cont high
E shutter is 11 silent, 15 in "full"
If i wanted to switch to z to start wildlife id get at least a z6iii/ii or z7ii
Plus the high speed capture 30
Though the z6 would be pushing it
Imo the only issue would be the battery life
Its honestly a just have it in the bag typa camera, tourism, parents, vlogging
No dual card slots, no battery grip capabilities, worse battery life by a lot, a lot less customizability, smaller, worse viewfinder(id rather have the optical viewfinder on the d500 than a low res evf), worse ergonomics
D500 was made for wildlife
The ergo isn't that bad
Try bidding on z7iiβs up to the z50ii price
If any pop up
Deeper grip over the 50
Z50ii is way smaller and doesnt have a battery grip you can add so it would prolly feel worse
Especially if you put big glass on for wildlife and action
Where are you finding a 7ii for 900 bucks
It was some bid
Had a decent shutter count too
π
You can find z7s for 900-1000 but i hear the autofocus on the first z7 is atrocious
Yeah it is
Early mirrorless moment
I can get a 50ii and the kit lenses for 300 bucks less than a reasonable condition. 7ii
But yeah sports, action, and wildlife id suggest a d500(prob not for low light sports though), d850, d4,d4s,(d3 would be pushing it), d5, d6 is overpriced, z7ii, maybe z6iii, z8, z9
But if I'm looking at 1500-1800 bucks I'm getting a d850
Cause its a bad combination for any type of action
π
The z7ii is chefs kiss
Ah yes, flagship af tracking is bad
Meant the lens
A z50ii combined with a kit dx lens wont compare to a z7ii with something as cheap as the kit 24-70 f4
I feel like that's also not just the gears fault
TO A POINT I must add
Cause i can ball out with a d700 and an afd 50 1.8 and shoot better than my buddy on a 7ii and the 50 1.4
Well both cameras were designed for completely different reasons, its like comparing a d7500 to a d850 spec wise
Photographer not the camera moment
But when it comes to specs and on paper is what I meant
Ive seen people with z9s produce pictures that dont look good at all
π
When it comes to the camera itself, specs and capabilities, a z7ii or a d500 will blow the z50ii away for sports action wildlife, granted the photographer knows what theyβre doing yk, unless youβre doing video
Really the only mirrorless apsc camera successor to the d500 is the canon r7
Is this before or after the better af, newer processor, increased focus point and ibis over the 500
But let's be real here, what we all truly need is a d1x and whatever dx kit lens you can find
That's the true best camera out there rn
Yeah it has the better af tracking but everything else id rather grab a d500 for less cost

I kinda want one tbh
Also a d3 but that'd be to run it against the d700 for a shootout
Dont me impulse buy
The build quality is just π©
Can confirm
π
I may or may not have dropped mine a few times
I might impulse buy one in the future
Oh definitely do it sooner than later imo
GAS gonna catch up to me
I need to shoot the f5 more but it's kinda too much for whatever I'd like to shoot with it rn lol
Esp on film
Film looks cool
Ye
One day all the top f mount gear will be dirt cheap and thats when I go crazy
Same ish focal range, same film stock, which would you rather edc lmao
And the minolta gets a flash so it's really not even a truly fair comparison

I just need to shoot more tbh
Been way burnt out for a while now after taking photog in school
Doing this shit for a grade sucks btw
But I will say this, that class convinced me I needed some funny lenses so I'm not that sad about it lol
W Redbull flavor
Oh
And that
it is tho
Maus you have a 7500 right?
There's one for the same price as the 750 do I stick with it or look at buying the 7500?
Mainly because it's newer of course
i mean the 7500 is fine but the sensor holds it back in low light imo
i've got a buddy with a 780 and we did a shootout a few months ago
there wasn't really a clear winner
he did better in shit light, i did better in IQ but i was also using better glass
i'd still get the 750 on the basis that its a better camera in a few ways but that more than warrents the same price imo
there's not one or two big things to avoid by not getting one yk?
like honestly the only real "issues" with the 750 over the 7500 is the size and the "worse" video perf
its got far and away the better sensor, better af, better processing
double card slots, a mildly longer battery life etc etc
for refrence
but thats not to say the 7500 isn't a bad camera
its got arguably the best apsc sensor ever

Imma do it
@glad juniper
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
Maybe a good work cam
So long as you don't absolutely need the VF the new powershits are quite nice
i would prefer not to have Ventricular fibrillation
I don't terribly love the ergo on the g7x but it's a sold camera spec wise
It called "camera case"
imma get a full size peli case
yooo i need help fast
idk what to post
i have 3 pic i like
i need help
pls join general if you woud like to vote
@glad juniper
can't
Asking maus to leave #aviation #1023755067079282789 is very rare
Rarely you will see him in spotting
If u see maus in general chat you're dreaming
Or the world's ending and I've been banned
maus ban is not on my 2025 bingo card
Can I dm you the 4 pic then?
just send in #spotting
ok
a normal photog channel would actually be nice
np
Gimme the tan creative corner already
i asked staf
thay sayd there is not moch to do as the owner is not moch around enymore
Can't even make a thread π
π
obv this is annoying but I feel like when people ask for something under $1k it's worse
cuz usually they'll also say something like "I need to buy new cuz my parents say so"
and then their only options are shitty APS-C camera and hopefully some fast standard zoom
Fuck yeah
Saved 250ish bucks because of an autofocus squeak that I fixed in 2 mins
and a tiny crack in the distance scale which isnt opened up
W
Ermmmm
yeahhhh

well not really, you can get solid full frame cameras and apsc cameras used under 1k and a good zoom
you can get something like a canon 5d mark iii with the 80-200 2.8 for under 1k used
Nikon d750 or d800 paired with the 80-200 2.8 also is easily under 1k used
both older lenses before the 70-200's but superior to most of the kit lenses
if not all except a couple mirrorless ones
yeah, you 100% have good options if you buy used
but most people with a budget of just $1k probably got it as gift money from their relatives and are scared of buying used
yeah thats true, just gotta know what the good used choices are
used is the way to go w budgets though, as long as they know that then they're set
you can even get the afs 80-200 in that deal too
yeah
taking that over any kit super zoom/standard zoom all day
old used gear is nice for the price
love me some bokeh rows fr
Iβve only bought 1 lens new before
Used is the way to go
But imo I only do that for lenses, I prefer new bodies
agreed
the only new lens I ever bought was the sigma 150-600...could've saved 300 bucks easily by buying used idk why I did that
sold it 2 weeks ago too
bodies I'd buy new purely for the warranty but they don't make the ones I use new anymore so
lol yeah
Buy new if you can buy new
ye
But used is just fine
Fr
like if I were to buy one of the z series cameras I'd buy new for stuff like the warranty
Thatβs what I did
W
Trade ins are nice too
Yeah especially direct from the manufacturer
pretty sure they replace the shutter for refurbished bodies too
ngl now i want a d800 for the old high res lol
π
Yooo
@glad juniper @misty steeple
Shit I buy nikkor 200-500 for 850 us?
Or tamron 150-600 for 600
For the nikon D750 and D500
Which version
Real
Fr made that just for maus
ππ real
It about sums it up too
and I'm not even that good at it
I just give normie reccs unless you want funny cameras
stoping buy?
oh yeah
the 150 to 600 is 5 to 6,3
while the nikkor 200-500 is continues 5.7 or smt
That's not what I mean
The widest aperture a lens has isn't where it's the sharpest
Optically it's generally 1.5-2 whole stops from wide open
So a 2.8 lens is "supposed to be" sharpest at 4-5.6
That's not always the case
But generally so
So i shoot my lens (sigma 100-400 5-6.3) at f/11
That's generally where i see it to be sharpest
ah ha
hmm
ok so i shod go for the tamron?
becs juging on my local resorses i think l be doing more wildlife then aviation
so reach is good in bird photography
It is but the nikon is a faster lens
It can do better in low light
Not sure about how the vrs stack up tho
But you'd be tripoding so it don't matter
ee
