#Camera Advice
1 messages · Page 6 of 1
I'm getting a job asap after I'm back from Taiwan
Then I'm gonna buy camera stuff and go broke again
What a beautiful cycle
My birthday right before Taiwan
So maybe I get a new slr body
That or a camera bag that isn't tiny
I want one that can hold a laptop though....ofc my laptop is 17in
I knew the 14in would've been better
Maybe I'll buy a new laptop 💀
oooo you gonna buy a nikon?
90D would be acceptable
Me when Nikon
He offered to sell for 1400$ with a 70-200 I'm still mad I didn't have that money
He shoots with an R5 and 500prime lol
He just bought a R7 to try out 💀
I've probably said this before
if he'd sell without the 70-200 it'd be alright
Lmao it's the good one the 2.8
600 bucks for a 90D isn't that bad of a deal
💀
It's new
I don't think he's really used it
He has a 6DM2 for sale too but I don't really want that
so if it is new thats the 70-200 for what, 200 bucks?
thats a screaming deal on the 7-2
Ik that's why I'm pissed
i'm probably gonna trade in a buncha shit towards a new camera after i get back from oregon
This mf
i have one
my canon is "mirrorless"
also canon film prices are cringe and bad and poo
tho i do actually kinda want a canon 7
it looks very nice
and LTM

Idk what film stock to shoot next
depends, what are you after
Pictures idk
at the very least color or bw
slide or print
That is outside of my realm of current knowledge
so print then
uhhhh lets see
ektar 100 for fine grain
"fuji" 400 for price
kodak um400 is always a good choice
colorplus 200 is also a good choice
slide would be fun tho tbh
you'd have to be really careful with your metering
I'm just gonna go on instagram and search "film trends" then contribute to the absolute skyhigh prices and trend
no thats cringe
don't forget portra
or sinstill if you want to contribute to that evil
Actually there's one film I wouldn't mind trying in the future
Why tf the link 8 miles long

It's expensive tho
film soup is dumb
Thought it'd be fun to mess around with but idk what id shoot that'd fit the style
I did a google
Ik what print and slide is now
Sounds tricky
Anything that is considered "versatile", has a relatively good focal range for considerably cheap (used)
I've got the 50mm prime and the 18-105 in mind
Shits lowkey getting too small
50 is fine but just keep in mind if it's on apsc it's not actually 50
The 18-105 would probably be my goto
I'll take it
No you don't want it, it's nikon
Well the bag
wtf
That makes no sense
(Yes I know he uses Canon)
Is the Canon EOS 2000D + 18-55mm f/ 3.6-5.6 III + 75-300mm f/ 4-5.6 III good for plane spotting?
#1023755067079282789 message
The 2000D is fine
It's cheap for a reason but it's fine
Is the 300mm lens good to zoom in at the cockpit?
Depends on where you are
EHAM probably like 200 meters away from the plane when taking off
What's your definition of "zoomed in"
Probably like your profile picture
Idk probably
Ok
Just set your expectations really low lmao
Getting
Lovely
Which one
There's 7 different versions
The first 3 won't work on the D3X00 and 5X00 cameras
And a few other D70,80,90s
The af-s one is pretty good
The af-p is the new standard for the 7-3
People have had issues with the dx lenses and sharpness but I've only really seen it on reddit so do with that what you will
I'd recommend the FX versions of either the afs or afp lenses since whenever you upgrade to z or fx you'll be able to use it
Looking at the AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR
Second to last i think, whats your thoughts?
If you can I'd spring for the fx not the dx but that's only cause you can use it on the next question
Im not planning on getting a new camera for a good few years and when that time comes id spring for a mirrorless camera by then. Aswell as being a sony or something. Heard lots of great stuff about them. So im not too worried about upgradability. Cant even afford a new camera and wont be able to
Yeah they don't have great CS either
CS?
Customer support
oh
Do any of yall have on of those hot shoe mounts for your phone? Like the one mfs be using for reels
I had one
Used it maybe three times
Gave it to a buddy
I mean they aren't bad, but I just wear a lot of shirts with breast pockets so I just throw my phone in there and call it a day
i thought about buying one
but my camera sucks for video
and it doesnt work with hat
Yes, it’s annoying tbh
I prefer putting it on my lens mount rather than the hot shoe
i saw a very fancy one that was on a cable that you could bend in place...it costed 35$
Could you maybe send a link as to where i could buy it?
First airshow in 2 weeks wanna get some portrait vids
I had to mess around with it and it doesn’t work too well but I can try and find one online that may work
What airshow?
Also what lens are you using
Barrie, Ontario, its a small one but if it means seeing the CF-18, snowbirds, a P-51 and a sea fury for free then its defent
Canon 75-300 shitbox
Ooof you need to get yourself a 150-600
That cf-18 livery is pretty nice
I don’t recall the 75-300 having a lens foot so I’ll look for a phone one for hotshoe
Yeah its RCAF 100 too so they taking it pretty much everywhere, 5 shows just in my area with them
Ah nice
I would recommend this https://www.amazon.com/ULANZI-ST-06-Flexible-Microphone-Photography/dp/B07T47YPTZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?
Cell Phone Tripod Mount with Cold Shoe Mount: The Phone Tripod Mount have two 1/4-20 thread tripod screws, you can mount it on any tripod, selfie stick or camera. SmallRig Multifunctional Universal Metal Smartphone Holder 3559, featuring a cold shoe mount and 1/4"-20 threaded holes at the bottom, can be attached to top cold shoe of a camera as monitor or to realize dual camera shot, or attached to any cold shoe or equipment with 1/4"-20 screws, such as tri...
Both great companies, smallrig is probably the highest quality one you can get
This is the one I got, absolute piece of shit 😂
i had the ulanzi one
it was uh
well it was fine
it was too tight for my phone with the case on so it was a real pita to use
yeah
Smallrig is a pretty good company so I hope that they would think of that lol
Oh yeah it easily can, it extends to 3.26 inches
it looks pretty deep so i'd assume it won't be that big of an issue
no i'm talkin depth not length
Ah I had issues with both lol
there's really no good solution since the video quality won't be great regardless
you'd probably be better off bringing a sibling and making them hold your phone
Lmao at some airshows my mom did that for me 💀
i've had my sister do it before
What phone were you using
Galaxy A51
tried with a few different cases, didn't matter
always had to take the case off to film
And they probably made 10£ off your information 💀
Fair
Should I be trusting mpb as I just bought from them, only to see people complaining
Yep
Good to hear
What are the best camera settings for plane spotting?
Depends on the lighting
There really isn’t a universal set of settings that are best for spotting
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
Shits tempting but most likely stolen
Mpb will pay 750$ for all my gear
What is it
460$
Portland sooooo
Wouldn't really be able to spot with it tho
The closest you can get is like, 1/500 f8 iso 200 lmao
Maybe 1/1000 @ iso 200 ig
Depends on the light
tasty
Mmmm 7100
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
@glad juniper I can't figure out what lens this is
Guy is saying it's a 10-18 but it's not that
I think it's 135
18-135
The camera has been on Facebook marketplace for almost a year tho
Offer like, 500 maybe then
Yeah that's what I can get out of my 550d and 16-35
Be careful with selling your camera before you buy a new one
Cause you know damn well interesting shit will come in and you'll be stuck with phone pics
Yeah that's why I don't wanna do it
And I don't wanna go see it then it be legit then I have to spend 2 weeks selling my gear
Then it sells
take a parent loan out
💀 my parents are talking a bank loan out
Idk for what
But it's all they're talking about
Dearest Mouse,
What are good short range (under ~ 80mm) lenses for Nikon?
Sincerely,
Ginervra
Nikon 16-80 2.8-4
But that's dx only
There's the 17-55 2.8 as well
Also dx
The fun vintage lenses are fx but they all start at 35mm so 50
no, aps-c
yes thats been established
Mouse
Lul
What about it
I'll give you the long and short of it I guess. It's super 8, which is roughly ¼ the size of 35mm. It's Kodak kodachrome, which is no longer able to be developed in color, and can only be developed in bw processes. It's daylight speed, so it would have been roughly iso 400, meaning if you wanted to properly expose it you would need to shoot it at iso 12 or thereabouts, assuming you follow the 1 to 10 rule. If in fact the film was closer to iso 400 when it was fresh, you would need to shoot the film at iso 6, just cover your bases. This, of course, is in accordance with the 1/10 rule as well. It's a small roll so you'd probably be able to get maybe 180 seconds of footage. This is video only film, you would need Kodak K40 sound tape if you wished to include authentic audio.
It's a good collectable
But that's it
(The 1/10 rule basically states for every decade the film is expired, compensate by shooting the film 1 whole stop faster. This means you would halve the iso of the film in order to obtain a correct exposure)
Speaking of film, remember that Karmir film
I figured out it's Respooled aerocolor
I think they do something to it tho
A lot of shit is respooled aerocolor
true
ok so i'm gonna add another 0 to that
pair this with the TC-14E III teleconvter and you should be set
you can still get the 600 /4 feel while also being able to go back to a 400 2.8
why need a camera bag when you get a briefcase with your lens?
but yeah is there any telephotos fit for that budget that'll work well
for under 500 ehhhhh kinda?
sigma 100-400, tamron 100-400 are decent ish options
400 isn't enough for birds tho
and ofc there's the old 150-500 options but those are soft and old
Could maybe get a used 150-600 for 600 maybe 650
maybe the first gen tamron 15-6 for 5 but that lens is shit soooo
you'd probably be better off not doing that
Lmao Fr
Would you guys recommend a lens hood for plane spotting?
There’s no fence so would my pictures be better?
Only if your shooting towards the sun really
But it's also a nice little bit of extra protection if you try and smack the fuck out of the front element
And it might do harm if your hood heats up weird
It'd introduce heat haze directly to the front element even if the ambient is cool
It's not
Yeah I was skeptical about that when I read it
(My source was ChatGPT so it was probably made tf up)
It can’t make your photos worse right?
Do you have a lens hood?
No
You may as well get a lens hood, depending on the lens they’re relatively cheap and it’s arguably better to have one than to not
Ok thanks
he does
The only time I wouldn't use a lens hood is if I got out of a hot car into a cold environment or vise versa
But you just have to leave the hood in that environment so it can reach the same temperature
eh not even then tbh
I keep it on cuz I alr know imma smack the shit out of it on something
thats honestly the biggest reason to own and regularly use one
Same lmao
Is this old generation of the 70-300 any good for my d7100
I remember @glad juniper mentioning it a while ago
I won't recommend
How come?
It's fine
I liked mine
Hell, I still use mine sometimes lil
The af-s is better by a long shot but also the G is like, pennies
Same?
No those are not the same
The bottom one is the af-d one and it's the og one lol
Still sharp, but quite old
Me when the nikon
hey its a film lens that you can still comfortably and easily use on modern bodies
can't say the same for canon
buy a buncha cheap bw stock or something
Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out!
£3.62 | 12 Sheets 35mm Color Print Film 135 Format Retro Camera Lomo Holga Dedicated ISO 250 For Kodak 135 M35 M38 F9 Camera
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EHroAN5
looks good
i shall buy
I've got an old 'zenit-e' Soviet era film cam somewhere
Should be compatible
lmao no you don't want my heart
its ecn-2
which means it fucking sucks to get devd
like at all
the stock is good but you'll probably have to dev it yourself
respooled vision3 is damn good for a D balanced film
I recently found out the Five Below sells $5 35mm film. I went on a quest to see if this film is worth the price and if it can even make an image.
Instagram @max_madeit

6:56 Total Cost
interesting
42$ for 10 pics 💀
the one your looking at has moisture in the optical blocks
also if you want that range get the 16-80 2.8-4
Yes I’m aware
No yeah I was lookin at those they’re just pricier
@glad juniper I need some helps
Not me but a friend using dark table is having images come out inverted
After exporting
That's a new one
Yo Maus you got any tips for setting for airshow video?
Yeah it's pretty easy actually
Don't
¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah wrong target
Last night's lil adventure
Tonight's lil adventure
mine is solidly to small
thought about that one too
the bigger laptop sleeve was part
i can fit the D7500 and the 100-400 in it comfortably
i should not have gotten a 17in laptop
yeah thats a you problem bud
i got a 16 and it fits just fine
is that
a tub
of
frosting
No tubs of frosting but
i do have an abbys pizza cup
Who's to say
fair
But yes it is
Nice wallpaper
Also happy birthday i guess lol
Color of ur name just changed 💀
Thanks lmao
anyone know wtf Adobe super resolution does?

i have a dielima now
i have a shit ton of PDX images
Coulson c130
and aeroflite RJ images
what do i post
yes
that helps a lot
anyways should i get a sidegrade fullframe cam for native f glass stuff before i get z or should i just wait and shoot ff on film
just wait
yeah but it'd be funny to get one now
even tho whatever i'd get would be a true sidegrade from the D7500
7500 is still great
oh don't get me wrong, the 7500 still swings well above its weight
but i'd like a true 12mm experience without having to only shoot on film
so a cheap FX body would be an idea that i've had
ala D3 or D700
Try the d600/d610 if you can
Nah they've got the shutter oil issues
And I'd rather not deal with that
"Budget"
Fuckin what budget
I'm trying to spend 400 bucks not 2500
And for 2500 I'm just gonna save for a z8
Z8 😍😍

Not for a lens with fungus, no
ik roughly how
basically your flash should fire at the speed of your shutter
usually no higher than 1/125 but ymmv
some cameras have flash sync up to 1/8000, others are stuck at 1/60
can you drive the af?
got a d7100 so should work
or should I go with something like the af-s, af-p, tamron etc
What's the "vintage" lens in there
There's a 24-70?
No the other one?
Oh that's my Oly
Makes sense now
I don't have any
And the cam store closed weekend
This polarizer doesn't work as well as I was hoping
CPLs just kinda suck unless you spend a lot on a nice one lol
Oh no it doesn't work on interior reflections
At least none of the ones I've used do
Your best bet is going outside and shooting a car windshield
Ooh
Your best bet is always covering the glare with your hand
Lens hood moment
That gets close up it's not always perfect
Your hand can be used as a seal and it works marginally better
Until there's a massive weird ac unit between you in the window that you can't stand on that's 3ft wide
ICN moment
Small enough to not fit a new lens in
@glad juniper W spot
We just don't talk about how I've got that exact same fuckin photo
It's a good spot I'm telling you
💀
From the S gates
Not bad not bad
I need help using my camera
Especially the exposure settings
As some photos are good (I believe) and others look a weird grey
I'll find an example
This photos quality was ruined by WhatsApp so please don't question 😂
you got a raw or uh
What do you think?
it looks fine to me
not sure why you were maxing out the shutter
unless you shot it in "manual" and fucked up the exposure
aperture priority
that'll also solve your sharpness "issues"
i threw it into C1 and yes it was shot in manual mode
which would explain why the shutter is throttled
i mean you could use it but it doesn't look all that uh
good
Erm...nvm
💀
what were you gonna run your mouth about lmao
Oh you didn't get it
Some chick getting blown out in the background
💀💀
Japanese don't do much to hide their garbage dumps
Sorry
I'll stop
I did die a little when I drove past this
where's the sony
My bro what are you wearing?
Leica C2
It's worth more than the Nikon
I guess I own a Nikon now
And potentially a leica
My grandpa has a M6 but that's his prized possession
not by much lmao
throw in those lenses and you'd be looking at probably close to 4-500
looks like a 105 macro, 50 1.4 and uhhh
idk what that last one is
i'd much rather the nikon tho lmao
Macro is right and 50
the C2 is shockingly bad for a leica
Yeah
also lmao do you actually use a google phone
It doesn't look that fun to use
Yes
kinda cringe ngl
How tf you figure that out
i've got my ways
Then buy me new phone
Ah
discord displays the whole file name when you open it in browser
i mean its a mid 90s pns, its not bad but you've got no control over any of it
really the only thing you can control is flash on or off and how much you zoom lmao
its not bad as a pns
but i'd much rather the nikon just based on idk, usablility lmao
Yeah
I literally don't have space in my camera bag tho
The backpack strap alr ripped open
For 70$
Wtf
lmao what
give them to me then
I've got room in my bag just saying
what was the other lens btw
It's gonna cost a billion dollars to develop
maybe a 135?
Idk when I turned the barrel it extended
yeah thats called the focus
The long one?
this one?
Yeah
Well I don't have a zoom lens on film so idk how it work
All the lenses have protective filters on them
well yeah
it doesn't look like any of the ais zooms
and that bit here looks like a focal range
but it doesn't look like any zoom lens i've seen or can find
and the important part is covered by the 50 1.4 lol
lol
@glad juniper 105
another one?
Also going to buy film and develop hopefully
yeah the 50 1.4 is the short one
thats
weird
like all the ais zooms from that time period are "macro"
which doesn't mean anything
Weird
not really
it just moved the lens "further" away from the image plane
which is how macro tubes work
they aren't very good and don't work very well
but it could do "macro" in a pinch if you needed it to
Yeah it's another 105
lmao
No clue why
How am I meant to get rid of these vignettes
either weird masking in post, fall off correction (though idk if lr has that) or just suck less
I don't use Lr regaurdless
and I can't just cut the plane out and erase the sky and paste it on a good sky image because that gets me a JPG compression reject
whatever I give up
weeeehoo
@glad juniper I found a lomography store
Is there stuff good?
Some of ts looks wild
This could be cool for night stuff?
In the big city
if youre gonna get any lomo get the 400 or 800 stock
can you find a yodobashi or something
Those only exist in Japan
I was wondering why the Sony was taking so long to write 💀
💀 wild
Also
Do you have a lens adapter recommend
For EF-E
Canon lens to Sony body
fuckin uhhh
any of them?
metabones and 7artisians are probably your best bet
the K&F one is also nice
around there, yeah
if you don't want af then 75 bucks gets you "mount to mount"
if that
but i'm sure you want to keep your af and aperture controls
i think viltrox makes one for 199 lol
so if you really want to save that dollar
Most definitely
Reason: Bad word usage
see if you can get the shutter count checked
Upload an image to find out your camera's shutter count.
Ok
the lower the shutter count the "more" likely it is
but also you may get lucky and it won't pop
people reported between 10 and 50k
879...??
lmao thats it?
I'm that's how most of his stuff is, but he said he bought from ebay
did you use the most recent photo?
thats weird
the site supports it
or its actually that fucking low
which honestly
asian grandparents and used shit almost always ends up like this
generally speaking yes, but as far as the splodie shutter is concerned low just means it hasn't had time to manifest itself
Oh oh
i mean honestly since its that low you'd get at least 10k out of it
i don't think you should jump ship to sony per say, but it'd be nice for portraits or video or whatever
hmm
If I stay with canon the Sony goes to aunt
that makes this tougher
Yea
i mean you do already have a lot of canon glass
and sony would basically necessitate a jump to e
and you'd be less worried about the shutter issues with canon
Yeah or the adapter
you'd be losing optical performance tho
Plus I'm not exactly a huge fan of Sony control
yeah sony ergo sucks massive butt
but what you could do is play with the sony till you leave
just cause its there and you can
get some nice high res files of shit
Idk maybe on ASPC
FF I wouldn't go below 200
Especially for the south deck
300 for narrow bodies was pushing it
this seems fine
just move a bit over either direction and wait till they're right on top of you
something like this
that wouldn't be all bad
South deck
well shoot shit on the taxi way then lol
fair
I've just been doing street with that sony
good idea
except for the fact that its a canon you mean
And the weirdest selection of glass lmao
Yeah I'm not too sure what that's about
should I go buy the sigma 150-500 or the sigma 100-400?
Figured it out
105mm F2.8
And
105mm F2.5
150-600 imo
needs more 105mm
here's the battery type
It says on the cap part
I think
Idk I'll find somewhere
Knowing taiwanese 7/11 they probably have it
lmao yeah probably
too expensive
Why ask then
Apart from that, I have a problem with my photos
They don't seem to really be sharp anymore
Send screenshots, can’t open the raws
They have a blurry tinge to them, which is what I'm worried about. D7100 & 18-140mm
Please also take notice that discord ruins the quality a bit
dude your shooting wide open again
but for all intents and purposes, thats sharp
you need to lower your standards for a kit lens lmao
Bug has CA 😱😱😱
I was at like, 120
Fstop
8
Something like that I'll have to go check again
ISO 125, F7.1, 1/30
My super wobbly hands might be the issue lol
Ermm chat any suggestions for SD Cards?
Looking to get 3
On the fence between 64gb and 128gb ones
Also are the SanDisk Extreme Proz worth it
I use a 128g SanDisk ultra and it works like a treat
However if you're looking for faster then it'll probably be best to get an extreme
Biggest thing is write speed
128gb 200mb/s works well for me in the 6D
Been owning a EOS600D from canon for a good decade, do I upgrade, or just look for some new lenses?
Depends on your budget, and what you wanna shoot
I use a 6D from 2012, only a year younger and it still works great
plus considering canons lens options, you'd be much better off getting a new lens first
all of their body options are about the same lol
@glad juniper I uhh did a buy
The tarion bag did a die
And I uhh have a lowepro now
Lmao
my Amazon basics bag cries in low quality materials
Ill probably buy a bigger bag soon
any of you guys got a tripod recommendation by any chance
Hehehe I have the same one
@glad juniper opinions?
No it's marginally cheaper lol
Fair enough
So, maus, in the case I want to go spotting, should I buy this 70-200 or go for the FX af-p 70-300E for 180?
I'll be spotting in places like Heathrow and Stansted
70-300 ez
Yous aren't losing anything on the wide end and you'll get more reach on the long end
Thanks
I've heard good things about the sharpness so it looks like the perfect option
Is it pretty much the same as the dx but just with the vr switch?
I could save 30 bucks if I go with the dx but my camera can't change the VR settings
i'd get the fx on the off chance you upgrade to a fx body before z
Suggestions for setting to get prop blur on a B-17? And a B-25. With good daylight too
whatever gives you 1/125
or close to it
so probably iso 100 and f/16
is the sigma 120-400 any good?
No
dang it, I lost the auction for the 70-300
Any mic recommendations for a Canon T7i? Want something that gets little wind and as much het noise as possible fir airshows
what happened to the other 5%?
I almost did
But I didn't wanna deal with it on an airplane
I did come across a brand-new used lowepro flipside bp 300 aw iii
For 50 usd
That I did buy
I also aquired some very neich film called vetrokam 400
Which is not for me
Spare rolls maam
I bought one
It was expensive
I have spare gold 200 and like 32 shots left of Fuji 200
Not the Respooled gold shit
I don't think
Does it say superia on the box
Lmao
Just home scan it
Because I know how to do that 👍
You literally take a photo of the negative with a backlight and invert it in lr
Then correct wb and adjust as you see fit
Only issue may be focusing distance, since you're really supposed to do it with a macro lens
whats the mfd
Uhhj
Idk
Yellow line is macro
Also I don't think the Fuji is supria
At least it doesn't say on the little bit I saved
Online said 0.38 meters
Canon says 1.25 ft at 24 and 8 in at 70
But something something macro mode
Idk you could probably get away with macro maybe
Idk how well it'd hold up for film
shall i get canon eos 1300d?
i wanna start planespotting and need a good beginner camera on a budget
depends on what the budget is
cause if you can, skip the X000D line and get a 250D or even a 70/80D
250
what do u recommend?
250 is harsh
honestly an ancient CCD DSLR and a sigma 120-300 isn't a bad rig if you're broke
or alternatively something like a 55-300, that's a reasonably sharp lens paired with a D200 or something
a friend of mine ran the D200 + sigma rig for a while
the lens is as sharp as a cotton ball and above ISO 800 you're going to want to rely pretty heavily on AI denoise but it's better than any rebel Tx or 4 digit canon body
canon 75-300 is a joke, especially when the 55-250 exists at the same price
the most hit or miss lens of all time
canon's 70-300 is ok but expensive
You could also get nikons first gen 70-300G and a D200
Or D300s
100%, 70-300s are more expensive than 55-300s tho iirc
hmm regional price differences then
wait what website are you using for these prices?
on MPB US they seem to be the exact same price

we're looking at different lenses
Not really
I did say it was the 70-300G from the get go lol
the lens you're looking at is from 2000
Yes
ah shit I misread
