random prism
#

no the plane itself

#

they'll accept some pans but its rare

gilded hound
#

Ah ok

glad juniper
#

Yknow

#

Blurry

#

The current latest photo is a pan

random prism
#

oh

glad juniper
#

My most viewed is a pan lol

random prism
#

i mean...does that count as a pan...

glad juniper
#

it was 1/80th

#

so yeah

gilded hound
#

1/40 for me

spare fractal
woven hawk
#

should i get a canon r50 with a 55-210mm lens for planespotting at around 300ish metres?

spare fractal
#

No

vale mortar
#

This is gonna be super specific, couldn't find any info online.

So I have this issue with my EOS 6D that whenever i turn it on it won't turn on unless I push it hard and it turns off immediately when I rise it into a horizontal position. It displays a message "cannot communicate with battery" sometimes but not always. Anyone know how to fix this?

#

Makes photographing planes basically impossible cuz it literally turns on anytime I move it a bit up

#

I've blown dust off the battery and it doesn't display the message anymore but it still won't work

glad juniper
#

Buy a new battery and try that

#

If that doesn't work, start shopping for a not canon camera

woven hawk
spare fractal
#

I don’t know I’m just being a twit

random prism
spare fractal
#

Yeah

#

My glass is all used

random prism
#

what lens mount?

spare fractal
#

Nikon

#

So F

random prism
#

idk Nikon gear

#

@glad juniper

#

we need u

spare fractal
#

Idk my most used lens is a Sigma 100-400 which has options for most popular mounts

#

I know they do L mounts for sure

#

That’s supreme glass

random prism
#

that means you have to but a new lens if you wanna switch mounts i think, i cold be wrong

spare fractal
#

Yes that’s correct

#

What is your current setup?

random prism
#

550D + 70-300

#

canon

spare fractal
#

I figured

#

Yeah switching mounts is expensive at best usually

glad juniper
#

ayo?

random prism
#

i think sir is looking for a nikon f mount body, idk what hes looking for

glad juniper
#

which goob

random prism
spare fractal
#

?

#

I already have one???

random prism
#

then what are u trying to buy get?

spare fractal
#

I’m not trying to get anything?

random prism
#

oh not u

spare fractal
#

I thought you were trying to get something lmao

#

Oh lol

random prism
#

lmao

spare fractal
#

That makes sense

#

Mental retardation at its finest 👍

glad juniper
#

ok so am i actually needed or what

random prism
#

i wouldn't mind upgrading but im broke

random prism
spare fractal
#

I mean….

#

….

random prism
#

Do this be good?

#

22mp

#

@glad juniper

glad juniper
#

get a plustek if you can

#

the really cheap scanners are mostly webcams and a backlight

random prism
#

Ooh

glad juniper
#

thats why they're so cheap lol

random prism
#

Any particular one?

#

The plustek

glad juniper
#

8100

#

or a canon flatbed

#

but those won't be as sharp

#

well flatbeds as a whole

random prism
#

Ok

#

Local costs

#

Is the 120/110 just iso?

#

Wait nvm

glad juniper
#

thats the size of the film

random prism
#

Format

#

Yeah I'm stupid

glad juniper
#

lol

random prism
#

Bleeeeh 300$

glad juniper
#

well the more you spend on a scanner the better results you'll get

random prism
#

That seems to be the case for everything

glad juniper
random prism
#

Maybe besides cars

random prism
glad juniper
#

remember, my scanner was only retailing for 2k new

random prism
#

And you found it in a dumpster or something

glad juniper
#

and it scans like this

random prism
#

Ooo

glad juniper
#

its diminishing returns but still

random prism
#

Better than nothing

glad juniper
#

nah i'm saying the more money you spend the better results you'll get but the quality of the results are similar to the point where it doesn't matter

#

at least the higher up you go

random prism
#

Ooh ok

glad juniper
#

a 30$ scanner and a 300$ scanner will be vastly different

#

but a 1k and a 2k scanner won't be

#

at least insofar as the results are concerned

random prism
#

I see

#

210$

#

For 8100

glad juniper
#

not bad

random prism
#

210$ I don't have

#

😭

glad juniper
#

Yeah that happens lmao

#

Just be glad your not shopping for another film camera

#

But if you are I do have some recommendations

random prism
#

gonna pick up some karmir 160

#

it looks sick

#

all ive got now is ultra max and some realllllly old tri X

glad juniper
#

Karmir?

#

Tf is that

random prism
#

new brand

#

looks really nice

glad juniper
#

Probably another aerocolor respool

#

Too soft for orwo

#

And definitely not vision

random prism
glad juniper
#

Thats really strange

#

Doesn't look like it was shot right tbh

random prism
#

better than harman pheonix

#

yeah idk

#

i like it tho

#

altho some of the cine stills are good too

glad juniper
#

From mori

random prism
#

huh yeah

glad juniper
#

I mean you don't have to shoot it correctly but it looks really weird

glad juniper
#

He just chillin in there

random prism
#

from what i remember i think that cam might've had a light leak

random prism
glad juniper
#

Based

random prism
#

should make for some cool photos if its not ruined

woven hawk
#

what should i get for plane spotting - canon r50 or fuji xs20. canon with 55-210mm lens and fuji with the 50-230mm lens.

glad juniper
#

xs20 and its not even a question

#

though i'd avoid fuji entirely for spotting, the lack of telephoto options really starts to suck

random prism
#

how does bro have a xs20 😭

glad juniper
#

i don't

#

i mean in all fairness if your gonna drop 1300 bucks on the xs20 then get a used z7, the ftz and some cheap f mount glass instead

random prism
#

nah r7

glad juniper
#

ah yes, take the compressed apsc rig over the 45mp ff z7

#

good idea

random prism
#

💀

#

zooom

#

i need to upgrade

glad juniper
#

same

random prism
#

550d is not cutting it anymore lol

#

18mp

glad juniper
#

nah 18 is fine

#

you just need better glass

random prism
#

i have decent glass

#

70-300

glad juniper
#

yeah

#

you need better glass

random prism
#

the only time I have issues with the lens is when its over exposed

#

it gets very soft

#

that might be camera tho

glad juniper
#

here's 10mp

random prism
#

not horrible but noticeable

glad juniper
#

mega pickles really don't matter

random prism
#

could be discord

random prism
glad juniper
#

and here's 16

random prism
#

the only real gripe i have with my camera is low light

glad juniper
#

yeah thats normal lmao

random prism
#

true

glad juniper
#

nothin you can really do about it

random prism
#

yeah

random prism
#

Lsfg got a paid photography gig

#

Taking pictures of construction sites... Yay

lucid aurora
#

how much they payin you

random prism
#

idk its my dads company

#

ngl most my pics are pretty shit

#

im not good and buildings evidently

#

and it was backlit

glad juniper
#

its a learnin experience

random prism
#

😍 🤩

#

y'know a big muddy puddle in the foreground of a picture for a firm that does water and drainage stuff might not be an amazing idea

glad juniper
#

well its not in the building so its not that bad right?

random prism
#

truee

#

then again...there's not much a building

glad juniper
#

i've always struggled with buildings too tbh

#

except for like,

#

this one pic

#

literally just this one pic lmao

random prism
#

doesn't help when there's no buildings and i can't go in the site because i don't have PPE

glad juniper
#

lmao yeah thats true

#

anyways i'm just gonna stick with planes, landscape and maybe portraiture

random prism
#

i think these are just going on website/flyers so not horrid

glad juniper
#

as well as real estate photog pays, its just not for me

#

although it would give me a really good excuse to buy an ultrawide

random prism
#

16-35 was doin its thing today

#

does get horrid CA at 16 tho

glad juniper
#

yeah that tends to happen lol

random prism
#

yeahhh

#

LR throwing a pissy fit

#

ik shit is better than that

glad juniper
#

that just looks like an export issue

random prism
#

nah thats just a screenshot outta LR

glad juniper
#

ah

random prism
#

my wifi shit tho

#

so

#

what the heck it wont lemme denoise

#

its a .CR2 file

glad juniper
random prism
#

yeah thats raw

glad juniper
#

goofy

random prism
#

i think my camera gave up cuz some of these are so shit for no reason

glad juniper
#

like how shit

random prism
#

like AF gave up

#

and soft

glad juniper
#

shoot me a raw, i'm curious now

random prism
#

im i shooting in JPG or somethin jeez

random prism
glad juniper
#

i mean it is shot at 5.6

random prism
#

fak it is?

glad juniper
#

yeah

random prism
#

huh i thought i shot higher than that

#

i might go out tomorrow morning when light is better and try again

glad juniper
#

worth a shot

random prism
#

although id like to use a 24-70 but that's in Eugene

glad juniper
#

it should at least sharpen up the edges

random prism
#

i may not be getting paid much lol

glad juniper
#

its something to put on your portfolio

#

which is incredibly helpful if you want to keep doing photog for money

random prism
#

i don't plan on it

#

but hey if someone wants it ill do it

glad juniper
#

the other thing i've heard for real estate/building photog is bracketing

#

so you don't have to do much work in post, if any

random prism
#

hmm yeah

#

man i coulda sworn i did at least f16

#

i mean if you make the photo small its not bad

#

hmm

#

theres not really any tutorials on how to shoot this stuff

glad juniper
#

its mostly interior iirc

random prism
#

yeah and like skyscrapers

glad juniper
#

Yeah

random prism
#

just gonna take practice

glad juniper
#

Yep

random prism
#

managed to save one

#

maybe 2

glad juniper
#

what are the export sizes?

random prism
#

i think both of those are in full

#

one might be small

#

just cuz im sending it in discord and its not final

random prism
glad juniper
#

the flare?

random prism
#

yeah

#

masked and dropped saturation and upped warmth

#

is there a better way?

#

if only I could make the porta potty go away

glad juniper
#

just probably use a lens hood next time

random prism
#

I was

#

But it's a stupid tulip one

#

I think it's called a tulip

glad juniper
#

ah

#

that bit

#

honestly i'm surprised it was that soft on the edges

#

but ultrawides will do that

random prism
#

Yeah me too

#

For it being an L lens

glad juniper
#

yeah

#

esp considering its on an apsc cam so your just shooting the center of it

random prism
#

yeah im not hugely impressed with it

glad juniper
#

neither am i tbh

random prism
#

it does take good photos occasionally

glad juniper
#

stopped down to 8 its probably reasonably sharp

random prism
#

F7.1

glad juniper
#

thats reasonably sharp

random prism
#

yeah its not horrid

glad juniper
#

i'd be curious to see how it does on a test chart

random prism
#

yeah me too

#

that was low shutter tho

#

1/80

glad juniper
#

and there's not a bunch of edge detail to begin with lol

random prism
#

true

#

i do have a UV haze filter on it actally

#

i forgot abt that

glad juniper
#

yeah a uv filter doesn't affect the IQ like that

random prism
#

yeah

#

soft af

glad juniper
#

yikes

random prism
#

1/1000 too

glad juniper
#

well ig the good news is you won't need the lens for spotting klaudia

random prism
#

yeah lol

#

my friend has a 24-70 he wants to sell but idk if ill pick it up

glad juniper
#

i probably would

random prism
#

500$ is pretty good too

glad juniper
#

just on the basis that whenever you do eventually jump to ff you'll need a wide lens

#

and you can still shoot it in the now

random prism
#

5.6 at 35mm

random prism
glad juniper
#

i can use it now, on film, and on Z

#

whenever i get there

random prism
#

i will say this lens is good for street and portait

glad juniper
#

yeah ultrawides are really nice for street

random prism
glad juniper
#

yeah thats nice

random prism
#

i do looove the 24-70

#

its exactly what i need

#

24-70 and 70-300

glad juniper
#

nah what you need is the 24-105 and the 100-400

random prism
#

ywah my mom has the sony 24-105

#

its good glass

glad juniper
#

its also a really useful focal distance

#

my 35-105 was my baby till i replaced it lol

random prism
#

lol

glad juniper
#

now its a 24-120

#

which is slightly more useful on both ends

#

and sharper

random prism
#

when i have the money id like to do 24-105 and 100-400

#

what brand idk

glad juniper
#

there's the 24-120

random prism
#

sharp as a knife

glad juniper
#

don't get me wrong, the 35-105 still hangs with the best

random prism
#

yeah

#

f4.0 with the 35

glad juniper
#

its also smaller and way lighter

#

tf happened to the bg

random prism
random prism
#

it was ugly

glad juniper
#

lmao

random prism
#

i shot most of that with my olympus

#

i think i got some really nice shots with the lighting that day

glad juniper
#

thats the other thing the 35-105 is really good for

#

film

random prism
#

hopefully the ultra max green doesn't get me

glad juniper
#

it'll get the lab scans but if you scan it yourself it won't be green

random prism
#

oooh

#

workin on finding a scaner

glad juniper
#

you can also scan with your cammer

#

which is way easier

#

and cheaper

random prism
#

might go halvzies with a freind

glad juniper
#

that would also be a good idea

random prism
#

he shoots way more film than me currently

#

i think he has to ME supers for some reason

glad juniper
#

based

random prism
#

although he broke the winding thing in one

#

and shutter

#

somehow

glad juniper
#

i might be getting rid of my pentax, if you want another film cam lmk

random prism
#

which pentax?

glad juniper
#

K1000

random prism
#

does it have metal or plastic internals or metal?

glad juniper
#

its a chinesium one

#

not asahi

#

unfortunately

random prism
#

oh ok

#

yeah my mom has the same one

glad juniper
#

nice

random prism
#

she don't shoot flim anymore

#

or digital much either

glad juniper
#

shame

random prism
#

i tried to buy her 6d but she said no

glad juniper
#

keep trying, you know where she lives

random prism
#

even though she has an a7c now

#

still a no

glad juniper
#

damn

#

why a c

random prism
#

grandpa gave it to her

#

with the 24-105

#

he upgraded to alpha i think

#

Maybe i go to the source

glad juniper
#

lmao

#

thats how i got my F5

random prism
#

lol

#

how i got the 550

#

guess that was my moms

#

but grandpas first

#

camera hand me down chain

glad juniper
#

lol

#

thats just how it goes tho

random prism
#

true

glad juniper
#

i don't think anyone actually buys their first camera

random prism
#

definitely not new at least

woven hawk
#

@glad juniper how does the z5 compare to the xs-20? In my country I can get it for slightly cheaper with a lens then the xs-20 without a lens.
Also the z7 is like 3000aud used where I am and my budget is 2000aud

glad juniper
#

this is the biggest reason why i'd buy the z5 over the xs20

#

the massive sensor size different

#

meaning way way way better low light perfomance

#

plus with the ftz adapter you can buy a whole bunch of "old" lenses and use them on the Z5 any day of the week

#

you'll also have better ergo with the 5

random prism
#

nikon ergos bug me

#

i tried one in taiwan and it always felt like i was gonna drop it

glad juniper
random prism
#

i did like the sd slot by the thumb

#

that was nice

glad juniper
#

its very nice

random prism
#

but the position of the shutter button is odd

glad juniper
#

yeah but canons got the fucked up "top wheel" thing

random prism
#

nah i like it

#

i can move it when im holding it to my face

#

and not poke my eye

glad juniper
#

tf

random prism
#

like to cahnge shutter

glad juniper
#

are you left eye dominate or something

random prism
#

no

random prism
glad juniper
#

yeah

random prism
#

then wheres the button for apature?

#

like how do u hold the apature button and move the wheel

glad juniper
#

Front wheel is ss, back wheel is aperture

#

No button

random prism
#

weird

glad juniper
#

*goated

random prism
#

nah

#

one to change both is nice

#

with just a button to interchage

#

hey at least its not sony with the ap being the navigation wheel

glad juniper
#

Having to press an extra button to do something is dumb

random prism
#

nah less stuff that could break

glad juniper
#

Just have two wheels doin different things and make the button do something else

random prism
#

i do like how the new Nikons look tho

glad juniper
#

agreed

random prism
#

New canons are nice too

glad juniper
#

they're ok

woven hawk
glad juniper
#

depends on what "manageable" means to you

#

i pack an F5 around

#

and thats 1.2kgs of camera

random prism
#

this may help

#

it shows sizes

woven hawk
glad juniper
#

easy

random prism
#

then again we prioritize cam over otherstuff

glad juniper
#

well that and you aren't doing much photog if the camera is in a bag

random prism
#

yeah

#

i need a new strap

#

and one for my Olympus

glad juniper
#

i keep forgetting you've got an oly

random prism
#

lol

#

its serving me well

glad juniper
#

mhmm

random prism
#

it has ZERO ergo tho lol

glad juniper
#

ok and?

#

you will shoot the brick and you will like it

random prism
#

i need a strap in case i drop it

#

i do shoot the brick and i do like the brick

#

but brick is not good if brick is broken brick

glad juniper
#

fair lmao

random prism
#

ive just been switching the strap from my canon to it lol

#

doesn't help when i use both

#

and my canon one is wearing thru

glad juniper
random prism
#

rectangle

glad juniper
#

The rare and elusive "maus owns a canon"

random prism
#

whoaaaa

#

wait

#

i just realized lol

#

hows the whole spotting on film ting going

#

iirc you had something like 900mm

glad juniper
#

strung up on the scanner rn lmao

random prism
#

oh yeah

#

have you taken photos tho

glad juniper
#

ofc

random prism
#

w

glad juniper
#

i've been posting the same like, 4 images lmao

#

(including this one)

random prism
#

do u have a seprate film acc?

glad juniper
#

nope

random prism
#

oh

glad juniper
#

i haven't posted anything to ig yet lmao

random prism
#

oh yeah

#

once i get film devd i may start a normal photog acc

glad juniper
#

i'm thinking about it tbh

random prism
#

rn ive just been using my private acc

glad juniper
#

i can't get into my private lmao

#

it does exist somewhere tho

random prism
#

lmao

glad juniper
#

yeah

#

its uh

#

no great loss

random prism
#

lol

glad juniper
#

the only issue with a photog acc is that i shoot even less non plane things so i'd post even less

#

and thats sayin something

random prism
#

lmao

#

i shoot about 70% planes 30% other stuff

glad juniper
#

7 non plane pics

#

not great bob, not great

random prism
#

id shoot more buti dont have enough time

glad juniper
#

yeah same

#

plus there's just nothing interesting to shoot around here tbh

#

at least not until the spring

#

or at the very least, green

random prism
#

yeah things are starting too green up here

glad juniper
#

faster than we are

random prism
#

yeah lol

glad juniper
#

i'm also so burning like, 2 or 3 rolls when i go back to la grande

random prism
#

you should come say hi then

glad juniper
#

nah i'm not heading to central oregon this time

#

i've got adult things to do here in co

#

i'll only be back for a week or so

random prism
#

lol

#

fak ill be 18 in june

glad juniper
#

child

random prism
#

time for adult things

glad juniper
#

mhmm

random prism
#

gonna see if million air will hire me

glad juniper
#

nice

random prism
#

i already knwo one guy there

#

rogue.v.jet on IG

#

MFR spotting community has grown considerably

glad juniper
#

or its always been this large and youre just now getting in on it

random prism
#

nah, JB just bought a camera, rogue v jet just bought a camera, scott guy moved recently and tim

glad juniper
#

oh lmao

random prism
#

all of a sudden everyone buys camera lol

#

Not as bad as the plane that nose dived into the Chevy dealership tho

naive scarab
#

How do i edit photos without it being over edited and looking shit

median quartz
#

first off you wanna edit it without overediting it

glad juniper
#

^

#

Overediting is a state of mind

glad juniper
#

One of these is "overedited" and the other isn't

random prism
#

B&W underated

#

Over edited

glad juniper
#

stll too much purple

random prism
#

Istg

#

You are just color blind or something 💀

glad juniper
#

just pull the purple slider about 3/4 of the way

#

trust me

storm plank
#

is the nikon p600 any good for spotting?

glad juniper
#

Good is relative

#

But I would avoid bridge cameras at all costs

random prism
#

130$/200 aud budget

storm plank
#

what are good canon spotting cameras?

random prism
#

i mean there sno good or bad

#

really depends on budget

glad juniper
teal basalt
#

Anyone got some good camera bodies that I can pick up used for under 500?

glad juniper
#

500 what

#

Pennies? Men? Bottles of gatorade? Cheezits? Turkish lyra?

teal basalt
#

In GBP.

glad juniper
#

the more i shoot this thing the more i love it

teal basalt
#

In GBP of course.

glad juniper
#

and do you have a brand preference

teal basalt
#

No specific preference. I can buy used so long that it isn't in bad condition

glad juniper
#

dslr or mirrorless

glad juniper
#

the 5Dii is ff so it's got a larger sensor area but its a year or two older

#

idk what sorta tradeoff that'd mean for you

teal basalt
#

Is there any in particular that you would recommend? + Other than there being no mirror, what is the main difference between dslr and mirrorless?

glad juniper
#

Mirrorless is newer and therefore more expensive kekw

#

I'd personally buy the nikon but a lot of people will vouch for the 5Dii and the 70D

#

Nikon has better legacy glass options, meaning you can buy vintage lenses from the 80s and they'll work just fine

teal basalt
#

Would you by any chance have an opinion on the M50 II or the r100?

glad juniper
#

Canons M series cams are dead

#

Avoid them

#

And the r100 suffers from "not enough tele options for a budget"

teal basalt
#

Ah right

#

Any other good mirrorless cameras that fit within my budget?

glad juniper
#

Not really

#

Fuji has some old ones but again, you'd still need to spend another 500 bucks on a lens

#

Maybe a first gen sony A7 or A7 but same issue as the fujis

#

No lenses

#

At least nothin cheap

teal basalt
#

Right, quick question, with dslr's, do they show exactly what you're shooting + settings on the screen? Like a EVF

#

(how it will come out)

glad juniper
#

Kinda? Dslrs have ovfs, meaning they see exactly what the lens is seeing

#

They've got settings overlay but they won't show you how the pic will necessarily turn out

#

Evfs do the same thing but display sensor readout data with the same settings overlay

#

You'll see what the camera sees but the pic might be different

#

All cameras are like that

teal basalt
#

Right then.

#

Might consider a Nikon DSLR. Thanks for helping out!

glad juniper
#

And ofc if/how you process your photos will change how they turn out

teal basalt
#

Hate to nag but do you know anything about the Nikon z50

#

Been scrolling through mpb and it caught my eye

random prism
#

A entry level Mirrorless camera

#

APSC crop sensor

#

No image stabilization and poor battery life

#

Maus will have more to say

glad juniper
#

Battery life doesn't mean shit lmao

#

Anyways the Z5 is *fine*

#

The same 20.9mp sensor from the D500/7500

#

Solidly ok low light perf, z mount so you get some wonderful lenses plus the ftz for adapting

glad juniper
#

Quite small with poor ergo tho

teal basalt
#

I hear the d7200 is heavy though

glad juniper
#

All cameras will be heavy when you stick a big telephoto lens on it

random prism
#

Ripped Av-Geeks>>>>

#

Jk jk

#

Isn't the R50 the same thing but canon

teal basalt
#

Not exactly I don't think

random prism
#

I think it's specs are a little better besides ISO

teal basalt
#

Kinda yeah

glad juniper
random prism
#

What's difference between 100 and 50?

glad juniper
#

But its got the "cheap body expensive lenses" problem

random prism
#

EF-RF adapter TheHarv

glad juniper
random prism
#

Oh 🤢

glad juniper
#

Yeah

#

Same sensor so you aren't missing much

random prism
#

The most based website on earth

glad juniper
#

But yeah it's basically the same camera just without a video limiter

random prism
#

Ah

#

They are all just expensive cameras I can't afford

glad juniper
#

And canon f_

#

cameraaaa

teal basalt
#

Now on my last stage of comparing these cameras, what would you say is the best between the d7200 and the 77d?

#

maybe even the 250d

#

Looking to use it for a bit of wildlife photography aswell

glad juniper
#

Yeah now that's hot

#

Got some konica hoods too

teal basalt
#

Just bought a Nikon D5500 With an AF-P 70-300 VR, ready for spotting

#

Decided I would leave a bit of money for accessories like a camera bag or what not

glacial plinth
#

should i upgrade to a mirrorless camera or get a better Canon DSLR

#

currently have the 200D II

teal basalt
#

Not much of a change in image quality tbh

#

That'll be something to ask Maus about

spare fractal
#

Mausie bbg there’re questions

glad juniper
#

Oh so there is

random prism
#

Looks stolen and beat but 300$

teal basalt
#

That's not been looked after. Is it a mark 1 as you can pick up a good or so condition for around 150-300

#

Look on sites like cex or mpb they have it in stock

random prism
#

Getting my film developed @glad juniper

#

Should be ready in a few days

#

14$ for dev and scan with student discount

glad juniper
#

fingers crossed they don't cook your scans

random prism
#

💀

#

If I didn't ruin them already

glad juniper
#

if you shot by the meter you'll be fine

random prism
#

Well I don't get to control my shutter speed

#

I gotta pay to unlock that 😐

glad juniper
#

bruh what where you shooting

#

i thought you had an oly or something

random prism
#

Om-10

glad juniper
#

tf were you doing then

random prism
#

I need to buy the manual adapter

glad juniper
#

what

random prism
#

Om-10 thing

glad juniper
#

oh

#

you bought a nikon em but with an oly branding

random prism
glad juniper
#

got it

#

aperture prio all the way then

random prism
#

I get to control ISO, and Aperture

glad juniper
#

you got sad controls

random prism
#

Yeah

#

I'll buy the manual adapter sometime

#

My local camera shop has some

random prism
glad juniper
#

well it is just a 50 1.8

random prism
#

But I love it

#

They had a cool looking 85 prime for cheap

teal basalt
#

Is it normal for Nikon dslr's to have a loose ish shutter button

random prism
#

nothing worng i don't think

#

my canon does the same

random prism
#

Time to shoot some tri-x from 1977 and see what happens 💀

#

No it was never stored in a fridge for the majority of that

glad juniper
random prism
#

It's at iso400

#

Should I set it higher?

#

That's what it's supposed to be at

glad juniper
#

sorry i meant pull

#

expired film should be shot ~1 stop for every decade

#

ish

#

unless its frozen

random prism
#

Fyi I'm googling all of what these mean

#

Soooo iso 100

#

?

glad juniper
#

no it'd be 25 or so

#

at one stop a decade

random prism
#

Guess imma have to point this at the sun

glad juniper
#

nah you just get to shoot wide open more

#

but only really in direct sun lmao

random prism
#

F1.8

glad juniper
#

or do long exposures in the day

random prism
#

Well it's getting to be summer

#

Also I've loaded it and wound it a few times to the S goes away

#

Show I wind it more?

glad juniper
#

nah

#

you're fine

random prism
#

Ok

glad juniper
#

just make sure to change the meter and tell the lab its been pulled to 25

random prism
#

Change the meter?

glad juniper
#

yeah

random prism
#

Uhhhhh

glad juniper
#

set the iso dial to the right number

random prism
#

Oh

#

It's set to 25

glad juniper
#

then you're fine

random prism
#

Ok

#

I need a sticky note

#

And somehow I can't find anything

#

I wish my camera had the little slot to put the end of the box in

teal basalt
#

My d5500 has came in and I'm not too sure if it's in good condition how do I check it?

glad juniper
#

uh shoot it

random prism
#

And make sure all the buttons and dials, button and dial

glad juniper
#

yep

random prism
#

Hope nothing falls off 💀

glad juniper
#

lmao

#

if it works it works

random prism
#

Id tape it but I think it'll mess with the "leather"

glad juniper
#

it'll be fine

random prism
#

Tripod will be my friend for once

glad juniper
#

lmao

#

yes it will be

random prism
#

Tripod in direct sun 💯

glad juniper
#

it'll be fine

#

also maybe get a shutter release cable

random prism
#

id need a meter to right?

glad juniper
#

i mean it'll meter for you

#

like normal

#

it just presses the shutter button

random prism
#

oooh

#

my self timer does work

glad juniper
#

that might also be helpful

random prism
#

ill get one next time im at the camera shop

glad juniper
#

its a good investment

random prism

ofc it'll be 2 weeks before im back in eugene

#

since southern Oregon hates photographers apparently

glad juniper

for an as is i wouldn't

random prism

its a cheap paper weight

glad juniper
#

pretty much

random prism
#

35-70mm could be fun

glad juniper
#

yeah i'd definitely get one

#

it might be a shitty weird brand like access but it'll be 10 bucks soooo

#

might as well right

random prism
#

its sigma

glad juniper

i wasnt kidding about weird brands lmao

random prism

huh

glad juniper
random prism

could be fun

#

looks confusing

glad juniper

its a one touch

#

you zoom by pushing or pulling the front and focusing by twisting

#

its actually quite nice if its done right

random prism
#

the 50 prime is fun tho

glad juniper
#

50s are fun but become kinda useless after a while

random prism
#

yeah

glad juniper
#

but thats really an imo thing lol

#

a buncha people still swear by the nifty fifty

random prism

its nice

#

but after a while

its just boring

glad juniper

yep

random prism

my local shop has a lotta lenses ill look next time

#

when i pick up my film

glad juniper
#

you can never have too many lenses lol

random prism
#

i only have 3 lol

ones not really mine

im thinking about picking up a 90D, a 70-200 and a 85 prime from another spotter here when i get a job

he wanted 1450 total

well i had to wait for my mom to give them to me since i was at my dads

glad juniper

lmao

random prism

im happy with these

glad juniper

goofy ahh light leak?

#

but only in a few frames?

random prism
random prism

maybe only when it was angled in the sun?

glad juniper
#

maybe?

#

its weird

random prism
#

ill ask the shop next time im in eug

glad juniper
#

good idea

random prism
#

Endoscopy 💯

#

theres like a very slight light leaky look

#

got some interesting stuff here

glad juniper

lmao

random prism
#

im not entirely sure how i managed that

(I use a kit lens and it’s wide angle for 70-300)

Oh oops ping

Sorry

spare fractal

How do you tell if the contrast is good/bad?

random prism
#

I mean just by looking at it and by eye

#

Just make it look natural or as your eyes would've seen it as

I ask because Jetphotos didn’t like the contrast on that

#

And that’s exactly what I did

random prism
#

It looks a little low imo

#

What cameras do you suggest?

random prism
#

That's a very very broad question

#

To help narrow it down:
What are you wanting to shoot
What's your budget
Brand loyalty (if you have one)

#

If none I'd recommend the ARRI ALEXA SXT Plus Camera Body

#

Very reasonably priced and very high quality

somber berry
random prism
#

Diamond media has 3 already

#

Because we need 8k 60fps safety video

teal basalt
#

Perhaps invest more in a lens than a camera. Of course get a camera that will work well with that lens

#

I'm sure Maus will have a say

somber berry

nah just buy 10 tv cameras

Does anyone know a camera similar to the d7200 that has a flip screen?

Nikon d7500

The most expensive lens in the world is the Leica Apo-Telyt-R 1600mm F/5.6 for $2 million. It was customized for Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Thani, a great lover of nature shots. The Sheikh even built a special 4x4 SUV for lens transportation and field use.

spare fractal

Okay

tribal jacinth
#

Is an CANON EOS 250D + 18-55mm DC III + 75-300mm DC III good for plane spotting and contrail spotting?

spare fractal
#

Only if it says Nikon on it

tribal jacinth
#

Im looking for serious advice.

teal basalt
#

Completely depends

#

Do you have experience with using cameras?

#

And are you buying the 18-55 separately?

tribal jacinth
glad juniper
#

For contrail spotting?

#

Nothing

#

Don't do it

#

You'd need a nice bit 6in dob scope to start

#

And a mount

#

Then the camera

#

And if you wanted to do it handheld, you're looking at buying lenses that start in the neighborhood of 7k usd

tribal jacinth
#

But for plane spotting is it good?

glad juniper
#

And that probably still won't be enough

glad juniper
tribal jacinth
#

No to the airport

glad juniper
#

Canons 75-300 is trash

#

Anyone who's ever used one will tell you that

#

The 70-300 is significantly better

#

But both will "work fine" at the airport

#

Depends on how far away you are ofc

#

But I'd say that the 70-300 range will cover about 80% of an airport

tribal jacinth
#

Sorry I meant 70-300mm so that is good?

glad juniper
#

It's definitely better

#

Avoid the DO 70-300 tho

#

It's weird

tribal jacinth
#

Ok

#

Thanks, and the camera is good too?

glad juniper
#

I mean it's a rebel, it's nothing amazing but you can still use it and take good pics

#

Like a solid 6.5/10 really

#

If you wanted a nice camera get a 90D or something

tribal jacinth
#

Ok

random prism
#

I can advocate for the 70-300

I can advocate for the 75-300

no thats stupid and cringe

any of y'all got some cheap nikon travel lenses?

glad juniper
