80 or 50
About 15-20
I'm impressed you manage with that
I need minimum like 1k shutter for jet aircraft
Because i need all my photos to be in focus
Or at least 99% of them
Mine is 1/200
I go like 320 or 250
I go between 1/320 and 1/1000 depending on weather/lighting
For prop blur?💀
thats the mound at prestwick i believe
Depends
It's not
:P
It's in the uk, yes but it's not Prestwick
Yea
I nearly just sent a picture of Joe biden holding a gun to an elderly woman's mouth
Found the picture
I kinda wanna go to Prestwick
Largest air station that's not an air station
Noice
Lovely 💀😂
Not yet, no
Yes
It has the S on it
Lol that’s a sigma sports that retails like 1700 💀💀

Why change name
i want a cheap and nice camera for capturing planes that fly over my house at cruising altitude? any suggestions?
How cheap?
idk. i dont have alot of money rn as im saving up to go to germany
Ngl its hard to help when you want a cheap camera but I don't know whats ur price range
Take a look at this sheet
Cruising altitude 💀💀
🥴
best camera setting iPhone for plane spotting?
Shoot in ProRAW
And don’t use those auto filters ether
Photographic styles
That’s all I really do tbh
Best way is not to use Iphone
take the money that you spent on an iphone and buy a proper camera
Lol fr
That’s why my advice was short cause that’s literally all you can do
Mobile photography is a thing but I have no idea how to do it
And I don’t think it’s possible with plane spotting, unless you have one of those external lenses you can buy for phones
yeah landscape photography works on phones but ur best shot for planespotting is videos
Only for close ups
I've only ever used mine for when I'm at work
Basically the main problem with spotting on phones is the lack of long focal length
They only generally shoot wide photos, which is terrible for aviation photos
🤓
🤓
🤓
bruh
Buy 600mm
Canon eos 800D (rebel t7i) is that a good camera?, with canon 18-55mm and Canon 75-300mm
I have the T7 and absolutely love it
Perfect for beginner plane-spotting photography (aka me lol)
T7i good
You don’t need anything more than a beginner camera for strictly plane spotting
Tbh 75-300 is too old
Anyone know how to use the camera censor cleaning kit?
I agree
im looking for a nice camera with 200mm lense thats around £10-50

Cameras in general aren't cheap, the minimum you could spend is like 150 on a good taken care of camera
Cheap and cameras don’t usually come together in a sentence…
Well it depends what your budget is
You could buy a used DSLR with a lens for under $500
Or a brand-new camera for a lot more
It’s up to you and your budget
The cheapest brand-new camera you can get for spotting is probably a little travelzoom compact with a roughly 500mm zoom
https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-hx99-24-720-mm-1820-mpx-123-camera-9506959 Something like this, but it won’t have very good picture quality but much better zoom than a phone.
Fr
Any idea for a camera under 170 $ Canada
D3200 if you can find one
they are cheap and pretty good
limited lens options is the only drawback
and no top screen
Thx
<@&999464167864008795> Is LightRoom worth it?
I do lots of photography and was wondering if I should purchase it.
@glad juniper I know u have capture1, correct. If so which is better
capture one is more refined for sure, and its a one time purchase
but LR is just a bit easier to learn
both will process raw and both will do everything else you could want
Hmm
pano, hdr, etc etc
I am in a position to afford lightroom
was just wondering
I think I will get it
tbh
i mean i'd personally lean towards c1, its cheaper in the long run even if the upfront is more
but if you can get lr or lrc through a school do that
its not hard to use at all
but LR is laid out a bit better for beginners
imo
i could give you a tour of both if you want lol
at the end of the day, both will process raws just fine
and maybe C1 if i get more into it
Because C1 seems like a huge upfront cost
even though it will save
in the long urn
*run
D3500
yay nikon
Got it like 6 months ago
yes Nikon ftw
I assume the free alternatives to these options aren't very good
i was gonna say, if you shoot sony or fuji, capture one has a "express" version
which is free
but nikon ftw so that doesn't help lol
Yes Nikon ftw
i've got this
its a bit out of date, but its got a good number of alternatives for adobe products
DT is great if you can learn it lmao
Just my gut is telling me LR is the one to get
yeah apparently it is hard to learn
its a bitch lol
there's a good reason i moved on from dt within a few weeks lol

well if you do come to the dark side, i'm more than willing to show you the ropes
Thats possible?
Shiit, does it depend on ur major or they would just pay for any major
thank you for the help though
no its like an education bundle thing, you'd have to ask your counselor probably
np, glad i could help
Well I gotta ask soon lol
How do you get this kinda detail on runways
You take photos?
💀
Oh and trespass
by standing behind the runway, taking a photo and then editing it
So that's post production
and idk get lucky with the lights
No the runway is real
You're stupid
I mean your asking questions about "how photo"
So
The detail is already on the runway
you could add sharpness to make it more detailed idk lmao
Yeah
I mean you can't get that photo regularly anyways
Cause you know
Fences
And the MoD
And trespass laws
And security
depends on the airport
and your lens i guess
at HCMC theres houses like at that distance from the runway
I mean the fact its an raf base is irrelevant
I mean your not trespassing there tho lmao
I'm just talking about the runway
Ok ok ok, I'll break it down for you
Plus if you have access to raf bases that's not an issue
thought you meant smth else lmao nvm
Thx for patronising me 99 times when all you had to say was "its probably edited"
I mean the runway is real
💀
lmao
just take the photo then mess around with the editing till you get something you like
I brought this up being i also saw a picture of a rafal landing on uss ghwb and the deck was really detailed without giving up anything on the plane
Was just wondering if there's some combination of settings that'll give you s clean result like that
Or if its edited
The detail is already there??
It's just pulled out
Nothing gets added if that's what your asking
The rainbow wasn't "added" in post, it was just less noticeable in the raw so I pulled it out more in post
No kidding man
I genuinely don't get what your asking lol, it's already there?
Likewise the trees were already there in this photo
I don't get why you got on this whole adding stuff thing
Has there been anything done in post to make the runway of those photos look more detailed and cinematic

Damn I see two shit photos and a shit plane
not my fault you didn't go catch lufty 744s at seatac when they were there

Dude Iraqi airways max 8 gonna roll out of Renton I gotta see those
they can get new planes?
i thought
there were political problems or something
Yea 16 737 max 8s
Same lol but I guess its ok now
I just have to see the first one
why not 15 or 20 smh
Facts
or pull an indigo and order 500

Lol 16
Quick question: Lightroom or Lightroom Classic
they are pretty much the same, but one uses the cloud and the other does not
Ok
I just bought the regular one
had an oh shit moment
of wether it is fine
or i should getrefund to get classic
if your doing DSLR work then Lightroom Classic, but if your using Lightroom on your phone and want to continue working on your computer then do normal lightroom
but that's my preference, your not really missing out on anything
there's just different UI if I remember right
ah k
I have a DSLR camera and only use PC
but im fine with LR
im beginner
so it should be fine
yea
ah yep
so it will be fine?
its mostly cosmetic
Thread revive
What is a good entry level video camera/camcorder?
Yee
Probably canon vixia
Its pretty mid but good to get started on
Theres always this weird filter thing that i cant remove idk why and its kinda grainy but its good to start with
Like if ur new to photography/videography
ok

you haven’t used that camera for 10 years
Smh
my dad has
Oo
Which ever one is better
I also a Nikon Fan
Nikon it is
^
Ok then
Alright so do u want a kit, camera + 18-55mm + 70-300mm
Kit
Wait
What’s in the kit
it comes with the 70-300
thats all
for a cheaper price than buying seperate I believe
If you're doing planespotting you will need the 70-300
Good idea.
Yea so u could for the D3500
A great beginner camera
But also is great for photographing
Can it get good good shots even though it’s a beginner?
This was taken on the D3500
ignore discord compression
either way its a great camera
Woah nice
Definitely dude. My camera is still considered as beginner and the D3500 is better than it
Yeah the beginner labelled cameras don't hold you back
Costs around 700
The Two Lens Kit includes two matched lenses to help you cover all the angles. The AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens is great for portraits, landscapes, videos and other wide perspective shots. The AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED is a versatile telephoto zoom lens that's great for sports, concerts, nature and more.
I have no complaints about it
My Camera was the best thing I have ever bought
Seriously
Great hobby
You won't regret it
||wouldve had so much regrets if its a Canon||
Sweet dude! U will love it lol
Bro fr
Tbh I go planespotting once a month if that at this rate
Nikon way better
Doesn't matter
I only go a few times a year
Still justifiable for me
because you can just do normal photography as well
still fun
Trust me dude, after a few months of having ur camera u gonna just love taking pictures and not just planes
^^^
Can I record videos with it?
If so might start up a planespotting yt
Although there is already like 4 of them at my home airport
Not sure if the video quality is the best
but it is fine for sure
if you want to do more videos though I would reccomend a camcorder
but only if you are doing mostly videos
Alright
Yea, its very similar to my camera. Let me find a video that I have

So how does the photo get to your device
SD card
you put the SD card in the camera
it puts the photos on there
then you put the SD card in your PC and you can do whatever
No problemo
No Problem
Good Luck
Also Don't post your photos on twitter
that place has gone to shit
L canon using the same cmos sensor for too long
wait u have access to aviation channels on radio?
Maybe 👀
i mean i would aswell, but its illegal
Its actually not illegal here
lucky

not enforced here but im a good boy
Lmao
I don't think its illeagal here either
Looking at getting a radio thing
cuz NZ isn't on Live ATC
Alright
Yeah
So what's ur budget
Like how much I'm willing to spend? 💀
Yea
One that's not super cheap but one that isn't insanely expensive
So 400-900
Like at most somewhere in the high hundreds if not low thousands range
Thats the average cost of beginner cameras
Alright, what brands would you recommend?
nikon
D3500 or D3400 are great choices for beginners and they are powerful
yes they are
Yeah I'm thinking about getting one as a self Christmas gift so I can take pics at work
I'll slap it on the list, thanks dudes
A kit for the D3500 cost around 750
There's kits?
yea
Anytime
you buy a kit and get basic stuff
Yea, itll come with the camera and two lenses. 18-55 and 70-300
Great lenes that are needed
So the lens and stuff
yes

@mighty dew @sacred copper someone who has been doing photography for 50 years said get a Canon
Canon or Nikon they are both great cameras. If you talked with a person who has been using nikon they would say get a nikon and a Canon user would say to get a Canon. They are both great cameras
I would say that Canon has very great Pro cameras (there mirrorless lineup)
While Nikon has a great beginner cameras and a great DSLR line up
Alright
^^^
It’s preference
But Nikon is always best
<@&999464167864008795> tripods, any recommendations I am in dire need of one
Budget?
Ball or panning head
A ball head is more sturdy but a panning head has a handle
Oh I see thanks What would be the best for like a night photography and long exposures?
It doesn't matter lol, it'll keep your camera still regardless of the head on it
Ah okay
I’m guessing panning head is most popular?
manfrotto element probably
https://www.manfrotto.com/us-en/element-traveller-tripod-small-with-ball-head-red-mkeles5rd-bh/

or an amazon special
yeah
by about 15 bucks lmao
True
but yeah, amazon specials are always an option
they probably won't be the greatest quality but they'll keep your camera steady
which is what matters
Yeah
and if you don't walk away from it, you can catch it if it fails
i'm still rocking a $20 walmart tripod lol
its mostly plastic but it works
Ah lol
@glad juniper @mighty dew what yall think of this?
i cant find anywhere if i can record'
Never buy the bundles
The gear they throw in is all shit
You can buy directly from Canon for less
@glad juniper what do you think about the SL3?
Whether you’re a first time SLR user, an aspiring photo enthusiast, or someone Looking to capture those amazing family moments, The Canon EOS Rebel SL3 can be the perfect companion. It’s the smallest and lightest EOS DSLR camera to date*, and is equipped with 4K recording capability, Canon’s dual...
seems great to me but i dont speak camera so imma need ur wisdom
by reading the description on Amazon it seems great tbh
Read some reviews lol
they aight lmao
Purchasing today or tomorrow
Nice
Stand-by
I only get one Christmas present
I gotta choose between the iPad M1, a new gaming pc or the camera
Facts
Skip the iPad, the pc would be nice but you can't make memories with it
And as an added bonus, you can use the camera as an excuse to go outside
Thats a good fucking way to put it
A car
No your parents drive
No
A plane 🗿
Is 18-55mm alot for a lens that comes with the camera
Depends
I asked for both the iPad M1 and the camera
They didn’t give me a budget

^
I was looking at this camera
Yeah not sure if i should pull the trigger or not
Bday coming up in a bit
And have some money from YouTube saved up
I mean it can be, but you'll want at least 250mm if you want a lot of reach
55mm is only about the focal length of the human eye
@glad juniper is it worth it getting myself a D800 and using dx lens it on it?
if your ok with the issues of dx crop, yeah
although i wouldn't run an 800
Yea I looked into it more and decided not to do it
Rather try and get a Fx lens with the 800 or 810 at the same time
i'd go with the 810 over the 800
your still sucking for spotting with an 800/810 tbh
4 and 5 fps
Yea facts lol
Not the highest fps those cameras got
If I can get a D750 got 6fps
Only one higher than the D810
Ouch
Lucky boi with 9fps lol
when I zoom in on my photo, there is an odd purple and green line, How do I get rid of it and will it be a problem on airliners.net
Thats called CA and is caused by lenses. The better the lenses the less CA caused. You could kinda fix it by lowering contrast and lowering your Aperture when spotting
there's also CA corrections
almost all editors have some sort of ca removal
Isn't only with lightroom premium
Ah
unless its a purple plane
Would also just to desaturate the blue or yellow if thats CA right or is it only the purple
Only seen one purple plane
i mean that would work, but you've also got a blue sky
Unless cloudy lol
Oh no I trust u, I've desaturate the blue all the down and change the pic a lot lol
But I've never had blue ca
So I don't know how common it is
Yeah without blue it looks very interesting
how could I improve this image?
Desaturate the purples, increase the exposure
Thanks
Would this be a good camera to buy? I have been just using my phone to take pictures and kinda wanna get a camera
Hmm
I always recommend one beginners camera for everyone ( I use it) which is the Nikon D3500 their entry level DSLR camera, all the reviews I have seen have been positive and I’m a happy owner of it. I personally got the lens kit deal which comes the 70-300mm which you will want if you are planning on planespotting. Nikon is generally very good for beginner cameras so I would recommend them over Canon, it is just preference though.
@quasi summit
Alright sick dude thx
Beautiful pictures for all. You don't need to be a photographer to know a great photo When you see one. And you don't need to be a photographer to take a great photo-you just need the D3500. It's as easy to use as a point-and-shoot, but it takes beautiful DSLR photos and videos that get noticed. ...
Does this fit your budget?
Then I would get that
Most others in this server would agree
Unless you are willing to spend more for something more than a beginner camera
But for learning photography the d3500 is perfect
Most pictures I get from my phone are terrible so I have been wanting a camera to get better pictures but I am just a beginner
so I’ll buy the d3500 most likely
Yep
I found it easy to use
For a beginner
So good luck with getting a camera no matter which one you get it was my best purchase ever and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it
Thx dude
Also there is the photography lounge discord if you need any help
Does it have a video feature? Cant seem to find anything online
1080p Hd
Forgot fps
But fine enough
I’ve convinced like 4 people to get d3500s on here I should get an Amazon affiliate link
Lol for real
Its even got the "beginner mode"
Yes
likely ranging from 30 to 60 fps
hi
The perfect 4K technology enabled point and shoot camera for travelers, featuring a super long 20-1200mm (60X) lens. This seems like a W ngl
Is 20-1200 alot?
@glad juniper @mighty dew do ur magic
Too much and photo quality gonna be shit
nah, no raw capability, fixed lens, mid optics, digital zoom etc etc
well, "raw"
the sensor is also the size of a postage stamp, so you'll struggle in anything less than bluebird conditions
Actual sample pictures taken by the Panasonic FZ80 digital camera. Links to detailed review and data sheet.
Damn aight
So its either the SL3 or the D3500
i'd get the 3500 solely on the fact that canon's 75-300 is dogshit
So @idle tendon
yea
What camera do u use
hold on i forget lemme look
havent used it in like 4 months
Oh
@mighty dew rn im just using a eos m6 mark ll but im looking to upgrade a little bit if i cant find what i need for it
U wanna upgrade cameras or just lens?
just lense
Budget?
ah id have to say like 1k?
Usd or?
usd, i dont really know what lenses go for tbh lol
How much reach do u want?
atleast like 300mm id say
Canon doesn't have good 300mm
im saying 300 mm and up so could be all the way up to 600 mm
just something good in that range
Maus is there a 100-400ef-m
Oh rip
Ef-m is a dead mount
well if i were to upgrade whats a good aviation camera under 2k that has a good market for lens
body
Wow
Should definitely go to nikon
Nikon fr
Yeah
i was thinking nikon or sony
Z7 or Z6ii at that price
Nikon 😫😫😫😫
Yes Nikon
any recommendations?
^
Hell maybe even the Z7ii
Some great cameras
No need to upgrade for a while
Any nikon lens and an ftz ii
Tell me about lol
is there a good market for nikon lens?
Very
Probably sigma/tamron 100-400 or nikon 80-400
ok sounds good
A lot of strong reach F mount lenses
Sony A7riii or iv would also be a good bet
Costs more cause sony glass is way more expensive
I’ve never tried mirrorless cameras before
Same
Won't upgrade to Mirrorless anytime soon
i like the z6 ii
I won't upgrade any time soon cause I can't afford it lmao
does nikon have like the full auto picture taking whatever its called lol
Yes but canons really shit for lenses
i meant to say nikon lol
thats why i edited
Max, you’re the MKE guy, right?
Got a 4fps camera and man so many shots missed

My SD cards are dead
Rip
Sigma 70-300 macro
Get the regular nikon 70-300
How much did u get ur 100-400
I feel like to just get a 24-70 and 100-400
Won't need another lens if I get that
Yea in that catch ill definitely just get a 100-400 in a couple months
Just gotta get it before I head to the airshows lol
200mm was enough for seafair
But I can definitely understand why it won't be enough for other airshows
Man so many lenses lol
At that point getting a 200-500 would be best
I was just gonna say that lol
Moses lake, Ault Field, and probably McCord
Yea definitely and if needed just rent a bigger lenses
RF15-35mm or RF24-70mm
Canon

Depends on what you need it for
at least I don't use a Nikon
wait no
Sony
Landscape or portrait or what
fuc
street and general
I keep confusing Nikon and Sony because both sides hate Canon 💀
ye true
Fuck it. Get a 24-70, 70-200, 200-500, and idk the rest
The 24-70 is massive for street
but would 15-35 work for good bokeh for other kinds of stuff
I don't have the budget to get both
Which would you use more
Or I could get the 15-35 and then also a 50 f/1.2
Thats a great idea
so I can do street, architecture and portrait
More like what do you have rn and how does it limit you?
thing is both lens cost $4000 each
18-150 kit lens, it sucks
That's whatcha get for shooting canon
although adding it on only cost $99
Where do you find yourself shooting most?
Facts
I don't have the money to change to Nikon at this point
Around 50-70 or around 24-35
Depends on situation
But mostly what have u used
Yeah
Probably a wider angle
And how many times do u have to back away cause ur lens got too much zoom
Not too often
Or how many times have u needed to get closer cause not enough zoom
I'd lean towards 15-35 since it's more useful (all things considered, especially for street) but the 24-70 is a great lens
Maybe?
ok time to call camera shop
Lol nice
well you asked about cameras not spots lmao
lol im jk
i didnt think it would have my citys airport
its relatively small
but it does
The AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR is a super telephoto zoom lens from Nikon, with a focal length range of 200mm - 500mm. View specs, reviews and more.
is this lens good to go with the z6ii
it like exacty the length im looking for
but idk if its a good one
Oh its a good lens
I would say so, my friend uses it and has some great shots using it
ok thanks
Opposite lol, just the fact that you always have a real time histogram in the viewfinder makes it worth it for me
AF has caught up if not surpassed most DSLR levels at this point
Oh yea don't get me wrong, mirrorless is great only reason why I'm saying I won't upgrade is because full frame mirrorless are hella expensive so I definitely won't upgrade
If you avoid the stupid canon M there are good APS-C for resonable price
With third party lenses on Sony and some on Z mount you have plenty of choice even for budget ones
Only mirrorless camera i won't is the Z9. But damn that's expensive as well
If im going to mirrorless.....I ain't going to canon
Canon has insane stuff but on the really really high end
R5 as example but you only have canon glass and it costs a fortune
U trying to convert me into Canon

And im not trying to upgrade to mirrorless cause I'm already happy with my camera. Just gotta get the lens I want
Nah dude, I literally have the cheapest decent sony mirrorless lmao
Lmao, is it the Sony A6600
remove the second 6
Ah
Not like it has changed much tbh
The newer ones have better AF and a bunch of video stuff
Sony cameras are great with videography
whats the difference between the two
and which is better
i mean you could assume the more expensive one but idk
Show me a serious DSLR or mirrorless camera shooter and I’ll show you somebody who has a 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom lens tucked away in his or her camera bag. Paired with its wider-angle counterpart, the equally fast 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, a 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom is a must-have lens for 35mm shooters, and variations of this optical formula are available fro...
so what i'm reading is the VR II is sharper in corners at low aperture
Yo @glad juniper what are ur thoughts on the Nikon 80-400mm lens
Been doing some research and it seems super great. But I don't know if I should go for that or 70-200 f2.8
Which 80-400?
Nikon AF-S 4.5-5.6 ED VR lens
G or non G?
Non g
So the old one
Don't get it, you won't be able to use it
Its screw AF
If it looks like this, pass
If it looks like this yeah you should get it
oh that case then yea ill just get the g
Honestly at that point get a new body and a sigma 100-400
Its probably cheaper lmao
My current setup is less than that lens
Then 100-400 it is lol

But new body, probably not cause I got the D800 a couple days ago
bruh i didn't know you're on a new body
Oh lmao
then get the 80-400
its got the driver pin
thats what the little sticky outy bit is
just keep in mind you won't be able to use on other bodies
Bruh Kenmore site got only one pic and its a bad angle lol
yeah thats the new one
Aps-c cameras won't work with it huh
have fun lol

What do the experts think about the d7000
Better to just get the D7100
Its not that far off and its better and kinda similar prices
only if you don't give them money, yes
and i can confirm the D7000 is a great camera
but if your looking at the early 7XXX cameras, get a d7200
I really need to upgrade from my EOS T3...
what does this image need?, Its awful and will never be accepted by airliners.net but Ima try get it as best as it can be, I have the original image
I can't tell if its focused or just bad quality from discord compression
it appears to be out of focus ngl
the nose area
Well yea if its outta focus then the only way to fix that is too reshot it
For general photography: is a 50mm sufficient?
Depends how close u are
Ahhh my dumba** thought he said general aviation 💀💀💀
🗿
@random prism look for this one
https://kenrockwell.com/canon/lenses/100-300mm.htm
Okay
40$
Free shipping
Oh
For parts
Better
Nope AF
No lied
EF
Mr. maus is this better?
i think thats better, yeah
@glad juniper I can't use the 6D, I have to use the 550D now
I think the same lens will work
so long as its the same mount, yes it will work
Yo @glad juniper what are ur thoughts on da 50-500 DG?
Shit I think Kenmore got the old one and not the new one
i recently got a small scratch on a lens, very small and it doesnt actually affect the photos but v v annoying and i kinda want to fix it. Replacing the glass seems extremely expensive, so does anyone know any DIY ways of doing this? I tried the 1:20 alcohol solution and vaseline but didnt work
nope, there's no way to fix it unless you replace the front element
thats as close to diy as you can get
so long as the scratch isn't that noticable in your photos you can just ignore it/deal with it
if its bad, get it replaced professionally
i might get me a new lens today kek
its really tempting

Complete steal
what camera should i get thats under 1100
Are you looking at a beginner/new camera or a professional/advanced camera
beginner
but sorta in the middle
im experienced with cameras
also AUD
Australian dollars @glad juniper
yeah i can read
Nikon duh
you'll be hard pressed to find a good canon lens at that price
