RCE only came out <t:1621209600:R>. A new version of the game would have a lot of hurdles:

  • Splits developers across both builds
  • Splits the player-base
  • Doubles dev time and cost
    Don't expect a current-gen version any time soon if ever.

I had PS4 22-23 and with all added monuments the industrial update and everything else you added I couldn’t imagine still playing on PS4 not only would you lag every time a player gets close even big bases would cause the game to freeze badly it’s probably the worst it’s been since then so keeping a game where it’s nearly impossible to play is a bit crazy. I get you want to cater to everybody but at some point it’s not going to work the ps4 just won’t be able to handle it unless you stop updating it so it’s a catch 22

When I do a auto sorter even on regular 4x4 on a offical server I can feel the performance drop also quite a few play styles just ain’t really doable on oldgen like any online raid on any fully built base with turrets and windmills playing on highly contested clan servers where bases are massive and big online raids happen with anywhere to 20 to even 40 people can be in one location you can’t really fully enjoy start servers because everyone builds at launch even just a simple hectic brad fight on a official server could turn into a slideshow you can’t really pvp in certain locations on a server either and overall your just at a disadvantage when it comes to a head to head fight with anyone on a current gen console those consoles will always lag behind

Doesn't necessarily need to be dropped it just needs optimization for current gen consoles. Rework the fps limit to push for 120 instead of allowing the consoles hardware to dictate, optimise the textures and net code accordingly. Give current gen a few graphical sliders even if high textures limits you to 60hz most would gladly take the compromise. The games graphically gone down hill there's zero reasons they can't make current gen easier on the eye its just laziness and lack of actual optimization. Doesn't warrant its own game, that's a wasted argument.

Splits player base, isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just cut down on all the half empty servers and merge them to create healthy populated servers.

Cost is what it is, you sell the game and have microtransactions. That funds future updates as it has done for the past 3 years. Don't focus on an entirely new build, just focus on giving current gen consoles options within the current.

Only it doesn't. There are several games that have tweaks and options only available to current gen consoles without the need for a new build. It's just laziness at it's finest. The whole "get used to it" approach is nothing more than lazy and arrogant. You can't complain last gen hardware is the issue with the games progression when you're outright refusing to support current gen hardware. More ram, faster gpu and a significantly faster cpu on a vastly improved architecture. Jaguar was always hot garbage it's been the limiting factor on last gen consoles for a very long time. It's slow and outdated.

I agree that current gen consoles need some love and real optimisation but when it comes to adding extra features for only the next gen consoles they do have to make a separate download/build on Xbox where you see a game that’s series s x enhanced that’s a separate build for the current gen even tho many of those games are fully cross generation that’s could take possibility years if the devs don’t make it a priority which they most likely won’t

If the devs make a separate build the best thing they could do is stop the content updates to this current build of rust get the game running as smooth as possible just do needed maintenance while most of the team is focused on the next gen build of the game but at the earliest if they did that it could still take over a year to come

If they did that knowing d11 and how closed off they are compared to facepunch on what they are working on the community would throw a fit about getting no content
